Great artist from the 60's-70's. Johnny Rivers could sing different genres of music including pop, folk, blues & rock 'n' roll. He had a lot of hits such as "Memphis", "Maybellene", "Mountain Of Love", "The Seventh Son", "Secret Agent Man", "Baby I Need Your Lovin'", "Summer Rain", "Midnight Special", "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?", "Rockin' Pneumonia & The Boogie Flu" etc.
One of my top 10 favorite love songs. ❤️ I heard him interviewed and he said he wrote this for his girlfriend while he was falling in love with her. I believe that - his singing in this is very sincere and you can tell he's singing from his heart. They got married and I believe they are still married today.
Actually it was written by Jack Tempchin & was written for no one in particular. He also wrote PEACEFUL EASY FEELING for the Eagles & co-wrote a couple other big hits for them.🎼
this song caused more ""good girls to go bad"" than any other song at this time - Slow dancing to this song just melts ya!!!! Love this song since way back then - I am 75 & can still remember dancing to this maybe one too many times!!!!!! Thanks for making me smile &remember the great times & music of this era!!!!
my late wife (married for 42 yrs) and I were big fans, of both Johnny and slow dancing. Not to brag but I could sing back in the day and we'd dance and I'd sing to her as we danced. Good times.
I just watched your Reaction to Johnny Rivers' "Slow Dancing- Swayin' To The Music", and my reaction is this: Johnny's music and I go way back, like 11 or 12 years before he released this song, and I've seen him perform live 8 times - He always delivers in fine style. I just want to add that I really enjoyed your reaction from start to finish - The way you got into the music and felt what Johnny put into it. In short, I really appreciate your appreciation - Keep on delivering, JR style!
This is the kind of music i grew up listening to . I kind of feel bad for you younger folks, missing out on such great music for so long. Check out more of his music , it's all great. And check out more of the older stuff, especially from the 50's and 60's. I bet you'll really like most of it .
Johnny kept on performing until about 2019, and released new material nearly as long. I was fortunate to be able to see him several times, including his concert at The Louisville Palace, backed by the Louisville Orchestra in 2005, and in 2019 at the Schermerhorn Center in Nashville, as part of his final concert tour. Energetic and entertaining always, and maintained vocal and instrumental excellence all through. I believe that he retired in good health, and enjoys life still... though he is greatly missed by his great many followers.
"Secret Agent Man" is a great one to react to! i think you'll really like it! you're a favorite reactor of mine! I'm a Home Fry & Pentaholic! (I'm old school) yet modern! I'm hitting the subscribe button tonight!! thanks, hon!

My husband and I used to slow dance to this all the time. He's been gone 24 years this New Year's Eve. He was only 42 years old. I miss those times.
So sorry for your loss. I lost my husband three years ago so I understand the missing part well. Be well Miss Alice.

johnny rivers mostly covered songs far better than the originals. everyone loved him in the 1960s. never heard about him after the 1970s.
