First time I’ve told this story. My mom and dad would dance in the kitchen to this. My father died when i was little. And I never understood till i was older. That late at night I would catch her dancing still to this song like she had a partner. Now I understand she was grieving. Love that woman

When my brothers daughter was born 25 years ago the night they brought her home from the hospital he held her and slow danced with her in his arms to this song. When she gets married she wants this to be her dance with her daddy.

This song was written by Jack Tempchin, the same guy who wrote Peaceful Easy Feeling. Jack is a treasure.

This song is so intense that I always found it awkward, and wouldn't to agree to even dance to it with the wrong guy, lest it cast a spell that I didn't want!
I danced with a young lady when I was younger to this song she was having a hard time in her marriage and I was able to help her feel better about herself and convinced her that she needed to get a divorce and live her life the way she wanted too. She did and I hope she did find someone to be happy with.

In 1977,I was asked to go to the Senior Prom by a Senior in my Freshman year;this was the last song that we danced to before we left for the night.
It was 44 years ago and I love the memories that the song brings back when we were on the dance floor,but we broke up after he graduated.
