This is my husband and my song. We danced to it at our wedding. Celebrated our 44th anniversary
I just happened to run on to this video of you reacting to ''Slow Dancing Swaying To Th Music'' and I had to stop and watch your reaction. You did this 2 years ago so you may not even see my response but I felt I had to contact you and let you know what it was like answering to your response. You didn't disappoint me at all. I already knew how you would respond to such a beautiful song. Right now it is midnight so I am now officially 70 years old but I have a 25 year old mind even though this body tells me differently. I have to tell you that watching you and your beautiful facial expressions made this song even more beautiful. I live in Oklahoma in a small town that was even worse than the town in ''Footloose''. We was raised believing dancing was a sin and against the law. I was lucky that I was raised by a Mom that loved dancing and she didn't give a shit what others thought about it. She always allowed me to have parties at our house on weekends(no alcohol) but we danced our asses off all night long. She would get some nasty phone calls from irate parents but she would just laugh and hang up and the weekend dance parties would continue. Finally when it come to our Senior year, I was elected President of the class, I think because of my cool Mom that everyone loved. Our school was so small that we combined the Juniors and Seniors for the banquet, no prom. We decided we wanted a prom so we put up a hell of a fight with the School Board and their response was ''Absolutely Not''. We researched everything we could get our hands on and discovered that dancing was never against the law and also there was no policy that stated we had to have a Senior graduation ceremony even though the School Board said there was. It only stated that if every Senior met every qualification, we would receive our diploma and did not have to have a ceremony. We finally had them over a barrel and they had to give in and approve a Prom. You talk about a celebration throughout the whole school!!! We was a small school, there was only 36 Seniors and we still hold the record for the largest graduating class ever from Cement, Oklahoma and that was in 1971. We didn't have the ladies formals or the men's tuxes but we opened the gate for all the future classes and we had the best time of our lives and those proms continue to this date because of us, our legacy to our school. The first song that was played ''Slow Dancing, Swaying To The Music''. Even though I am now 70 years old, I would love to take you out dancing and just show you how its done in the best way possible... I don't get to go out dancing much anymore because all my friends decided they was too old to keep going so I have no one to go out with. Since the group quit going out, two of them have passed away because they just give up. So very sad. I may look stupid but I even dance around my house by myself because I love it.
WOW, that brought back so many memories for me!!!
My girlfriend and I would alway dance to that song, it a classic.
Johnny has that golden voice
Wow , takes me back in my life and time when life was so simple and easy
Johnny is one of the most underrated singers ever!
My high school prom! 😍❤👨🎓👩🎓 Just 'Slow Dancin'..... Thank you Jayy for the memories!
Smooth soothing flowing 😊
In my younger days, ANY girl you asked to get up and dance to this song, got up and dance. Young boy's dream.
Yup, probably the same the world over.
If you play that at your wedding, you've made a wonderful choice.
Our wedding song, 1984.
You don't sound weird or crazy when you say that. Almost every time I listen to that song it brings tears to my eyes because it makes me feel so loved and special as well.
"Summer Rain" by Johnny Rivers is another wonderfully romantic song that you''ll also be sure to love.
I am glad you liked it. I have danced to this song with my wife many times. We never had a wedding we were married in a court house. If we ever do a vow renewal Ive told her I want this song to be our first dance. Because every word of it I feel for her. 2024 will be 25 years together. Maybe we can do it then.
The "Hold me" bridge just soars.
“Baby I need your lovin’”
Love me some Johnny Rivers. This is a great one, because my husband comes into the kitchen, and grabs ahold of me, and starts slow dancing with me while I'm cooking, or cleaning. So sweet!!
Johnny Rivers is one of my favorite performers since way back.
You've got to hear Poor Side of Town, Memphis Tennessee, and Barefootin'.
I agree with you. The song makes you happy and feel good while you listen to it. Johnny Rivers has a great voice.
You are the only one who has reacted to this song, and I love it! One of my favorites by Johnny Rivers!
Love his voice Liston to Poor side of Town and secret agent man. He did that for one of the 007 movies. Also Summer Rain
That's the 'pah' side.
Second that
Sheila,... Secret Agent Man,... the opening guitar licks, were inspired by the Bond films, but not used in any James Bond film. It was for a TV show named Secret Agent here in the States.... Danger Man in the UK.
Great songs, also Rockin Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu
Thanku for this song! I remember those high school dances! OMG!
Love your passion and “feelin” the music. My wife and I played this as our last dance at our wedding in 1984. It was the first song we danced to a year earlier. So Beautiful. Thank you
I really like the way you react to music. You don't say a lot. You don't have to, it all shows in your smile. It's easy to see when the music affects you without saying a word
Played at the school dance! Love the crickets in the background...he's so smooth
Johnny Rivers has a great voice
I grew up listening to/singing to Johnny Rivers. My dad who just passed on the 27th introduced it to me as a child and we sang the songs together all my life. Something I will cherish forever
Slow dancing with my wife on our 7th wedding anniversary back in 1978. We're both a little slower these days but with our 50th coming up will dance to it again.
This was a bit of a comeback in the late 70’s for Johnny Rivers. His peak hit making time was the 60’s.
This was one of my favorite songs back in the day.
That is nice. I hadn’t heard this song for ages and didn’t know who sang it... so thanks for “re-introducing” this song to me! Very mellow.
Play it at your reception Jayy! I'm sure it would put you and other half in a good mood.
Johnny Rivers has a ton of great music. His album Realization is one of the best rock albums ever. And by the way if you search on UA-cam for him, there are recent recordings that he did live. He is over 70 and still looks great.
This was a song I played over and over on my record player when I was a teenager! This reminds me of junior high, proms, skating rinks and a time when life was just so easy. Still such a beautiful song. ❤️
I soo agree...
5:27 I was thinking that I could see that on your face at least 3 times in your reaction. So beautiful that you so deeply got the words and the vibe of what he was trying to get across when he made this :-)
This music 🎶 was at a time when you could hear the music and singing with talent.
Great Reaction! The Line, Your the one i thought I'd Never Find!! That Drove home how much he Loves her!💕
I just love Johnny Rivers voice."Poor side of Town".
"High on a Mountain if Love",
"Whiter Shade of Pale"."Summer Rain".
One of my favorite songs, its so funny you say that , i wanted this as my wedding song until she got tired of waiting for me, but still always love it...
Love, love this song!
Johnny Rivers is a music lode worth mining. Recommend you react to one of his biggest hits, "Poor Side of Town".
Music is eternal it endears the generations.
Thank you! Love Johnny Rivers❤️
Hey there! i so enjoy all of your reaction vids and LOVED this one!! First off...u have such an appreciation and respect for literally every song that u react to and i really appreciate that about u!! Second....it seemed that u were so moved by it that u were on the brink of tears! once again...i love that aspect about u young lady (im old enough to be your dad lol).........lastly....i must say that u looked flat out beautiful in this vid !! Thank you once again! Take care and God Bless!!
🙋🏽♀️50sbaby our song my husband and I loved dancing to this ♥️
You are such a beautiful woman who ever gets you is such a lucky man georgus.
Poor side of town is another awesome song by him.☺
When you close your eyes , I imagine you thinking about someone singing this song to you that they wrote for you, in that moment you are the picture of what a beautiful woman is supposed to look like, don't blush, well maybe it's the song messing with my head too, I haven't heard it since the early 80s. Keep up the great reviews and you sick a pretty eclectic group of music which is awsome!
This isn't weird at all to me. Just a beautiful moment that was lucky enough to be shared with us. I wish I could see people all over the world hearing music as good as this or more for the first time. There's so much of it that deserves a pure reaction like hers.
I spent an hour and a half learning to sing this song and at highschool dances I'd sing it to the girl I was with and they all loved it. It was great being a teenager in the 70s.
That’s genius! Girls love that!
He's a great singer. I also recommend "Poor side of town".
You are definitely special ❤ loved your reaction!
Nice reaction!!! Hugs...🙂
Please check out "Memphis" and "Summer Rain"
Brings back so many great memories of me and my sweets
Two Johnnies: Mathis and Rivers. Different voices, both smoooooth.
This is a gorgeous song. He is one of my favorite singers. The song I like best, though, is Summer Rain.
This reaction slipped past me. Glad you listened to and reacted to this song. It's hard to find reactions to Johnny Rivers on UA-cam. Thanks much.
Also a good song for karaoke.
You have to do a reaction to poor Side of Town, I promise you're gonna love it!
That was really good you are the best.
Jayy..... you heard his voice and within 15 seconds you were leaning back into your couch with a smile on your face and you were rolling your eyes. lol He's pure seduction, isn't he? Enjoyed watching you enjoy Johnnyy. (You didn't know he spelled his name with two y's, did you?) lol Thanks for your reaction.... Take care, hon... Peace.
This is one of those songs, but, you know, it's going to end, but you don't want it to deep down inside
Great song to dance too. Try it. You'll like it.
❤❤❤❤❤
Love to hear him he had a some hits
Girl i want this for my wedding too!! Like honestly I want old songs cause they just hit different and are far more meaningful. Omg and at 3:10 is my fav part of the whole song. I wish he went a little more w that lol but it’s lovely anyways. Another good old song that kinda has the same slow dance vibe is Sharing The Night Together by Dr. Hook. One of my favs too. Loved your genuine reaction and song choice! Keep it up 😊
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Great singer
check out his Rockin Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu and of course Secret Agent Man & Seventh Son etc
I would love to sing it one day for my love.
Too Much Heaven by The BeeGees📀👍❤️
I would love you to hear my favourite song in the world. It’s by Harry Neilson it’s called without you. 😘
It was special because it was a throwback to innocence. It was what it said it was, no thoughts of graphic sex and the like. They used to play that at our Grade 9 dances, it was innocent sexuality.
Also, check out summer rain
Ah you got me memories of my YOUTH
Poor side town, omugosh I love Johnny rivers..come on yazzzzz wedding, I picked power of love, celine Dion, wonderful tonight, Eric Clapton..girl peace n love
Check out his "BABY I NEED YOUR LOVIN" ... too hot !!!
You should react to U2 singing Every Breaking Wave, live from the MTV EMA's 2014, it's a beautiful song and a beautiful performance
Just me and my girl..
There are some young artists who could do a really awesome cover of this; c'mon!
You should do a reaction to kid rock and Sheryl Crow ,”picture”, and ode to Billie Joe. Don’t know the artist but great song, love ur channel!
America Life, 1970s Style
Although Glenn Campell's version is better known, Johnny Rivers version of "By The Time I Get To Phoenix" is the original and I think better.

Love your videos!!
1st time for me too. I wasn’t too impressed. Have you ever heard Chris Isaac ?
I can understand if it's not your cup of tea but Johnny Rivers is a legend. This song was a hit more than 10 years after his earlier hits.
A terrible singer. Thankfully he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It wouid benefit you by reacting to Poor Side of Town, Baby I need yr Loving, Mountain of Love and there's more. Good day
Oh a correction he's a terrific singer. Darn word prediction. Haha
