    Great video. You are by far the best Star Wars commentator because of the way you address what makes sense as a money making franchise, but don't let that stop you from fully immersing yourself in the Star Wars galaxy.
    Off topic: I just rewatched Rebels: twin suns. When Darth Maul dies he asks Obi Wan if it's the Chosen One he protecting. After confirmation, he says may he avenge us both. I always took his dying words to mean Maul felt they were both pawns (he by the Sith and Obi Wan by the Jedi). This is an interesting comment after hearing Luke say the Jedi must end. The trailer wasn't out when the episode was initially released, but it looks like Maul's words may have been more prophetic than we knew at the time.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +15

      Wow, that is actually brilliant about Maul's final words to Obi-Wan... that, in the end, Maul realized the truth: both sides were wrong and they had given their life to lies more or less. Love that idea.

      Earlier if you re watch Rebels season 2 finale Maul actually explains how the Sith took him as a child, used him as a weapon and then tossed him aside. He was angry and wanted revenge on the Sith and also on Obi Wan for chopping him in half. He wanted it all to come crashing down.

      The only reason Obi-Wan "confirmed" Luke being the Chosen One, because he saw Anakin as being irredeemable at that point.....they did a completely HORRIBLE job making that clear and all that episode even did was cause so many problems, but honestly, if you take the word of a Disney cartoon over that of the films and Lucas's own words, then there's no helping you anyways lol.......It is confirmed on multiple platforms that Anakin IS the True Chosen One, not Luke.....Luke was only a catalyst to bring Anakin back to light so HE could finally destroy the evil that plagued existence.....Lucas has even said this himself multiple times AND confirmed, like I stated earlier, in the films, the Mortis arc in TCW, the Ep3 novelization, and most importantly, Lucas's own words, once again, as I said earlier.
      Btw, I'm not sure if you were just using that line as part of your point about Obi and Maul, or if you were trying to say that it was actually correct or confirmed.......So if u already KNOW all of this is true, and WERE just using that as part of the point you were making about Maul, I'm Sorry for not understanding that lol.

    Luke probably gave the map to Han, who hid it somewhere on his ship, but then lost the ship. When the ship ended up on Jakku Lor San Tekka found the map if he truly likes collecting artifacts and such he would have gone to see if there was anything of value on Han's ancient ship.

    • @timas3128

      I rather think Luke himself has nothing to do with the map, and it's an old map from the ancient jedi to find the temple or some sort

    I'm really worried about the reason Mark Hamill disagrees with the portrayal of Luke in The Last Jedi. I know that Hamill has had some interesting ideas as to where Luke's character development should go, like full on turn to the dark side, but... idk. They just better not have made him hiding away content to let the Galaxy burn with all his friends without a good reason. It doesn't have to be a great reason. Just show us he was taking on Snoke in his own way and I'll be happy.
    Oh, and I still want Rey to have the experience of making her own lightsaber. It's a right of passage, really cool, and would probably make Daisy happy too. It should be unique to her. Maybe in episode 9.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +6

      I will be extremely disappointed if Luke has just given up and abandon everyone and everything. There better be a really good reason why Luke went to the First Jedi Temple and now thinks the Jedi need to end (assuming the trailer isn't trying to mislead us). I think Disney/Lucasfilm is mistaken if they think most fans will just accept and like the idea that Luke became a broken man that gave up on everything...
      And I'd also like to see Rey make her own saber. It really is a right of passage.

    • @isblis
      @isblis 7 років тому +2

      Thor Skywalker perhaps Rey will lose her right hand and Luke's/Anakin's/her saber, which also seems to be a right of passage for the main protagonist of a start wars trilogy.

    • @passerby5735
      @passerby5735 7 років тому +2

      isblis, like Anakin's saber is just a cursed item, doomed to cost whoever wields it an appendage, but also means they will be an incredible force wielder. That's not a bad trade-off. I find it amusing to imagine the lightsaber being talked about this way years in future after generations of new force wielders have grown up passing on the story of the saber.

      +Thor Skywalker Don't forget, Rian Johnson said that the question that drove the writing of his script for The Last Jedi was 'why is Luke on this island." He said it was his main focus for the story. So even if Kasdan and Abrams didn't fully map it out, hopefully Johnson can fill that in, in a satisfying way.

    • @joelarroyo5263

      Mhadra I agree with you on that part about she should make her own lightsaber, it should be unique and I think it should be pink since she's a girl, we've never seen a pink lightsaber on film. I think it would be cool.

    There is another source that contradicts the information from the visual encyclopedia. The OPENING F'ING CRAWL OF THE MOVIE.
    "Leia has sent her most daring pilot on a secret mission to Jakku, where an old ally has discovered a clue to Luke’s whereabouts…"
    Key word being "discovered".
    But aside from that, you remember in the end of Empire's End, how they entered that secret base/facility on Jakku, and it was filled with all the dark side memorabilia? It would have been cool if they had described that map fragment, displayed somewhere in that facility, like someone had found it at some point and added it to the collection, but its importance was never realized by the Emperor or Rax. Hiding in plain sight. Then at some point, after the battle of Jakku and the fall of the Jedi academy, Lor somehow discovered that facility and the map.
    Aftermath, to me, really failed to connect to The Force Awakens like I had hoped. That would have been a fun little connection, that would give us something to think about, as fans, and could have opened up a cool storyline for Lor.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому

      That connection alone (with the map in the observatory... which sounds like I'm talking about the game Clue) would've made it worth it to read the Aftermath series. As it stands right now... there is a feel of disconnect with those books because I'm not sure the main story will have any relevance to the new trilogy--which is both a shame and lost opportunity.

    • @jasperalmoore
      @jasperalmoore 7 років тому +4

      Not to mention, they shamelessly built up Rax to sound like he might become Snoke, or at the very least, have some connection to Snoke. That was a huge intentional misdirect, in my mind, which seems kinda slimy. I still had fun listening to the audiobooks, enjoyed the characters and their adventures, but the lack of any big reveal or connection to TFA was a huge disappointment.

    • @WhoWouldWantThisName
      @WhoWouldWantThisName 7 років тому

      Yes, a very keen observation. I think we're not done with Lor San Teka. There are a few things that TFA left dangling there. The scene with Maz looking into Finn's eyes and saying she knows these eyes, then nothing more, just as an example. The whole "Who is Lor and how does he fit into it all?" I know we all talk about this stuff but when I first saw TFA I certainly felt lost as to who Lor and those other people were and how and why did he have that map? The comments he made to Kylo, just a teaser to make us wonder. All these things introduced but left unresolved. They have a lot of loose ends to tie with 8 and 9, not to mention all the new questions that will arise in those films as well. I think I'm most curious about Maz, and oddly don't really care about Snoke at all, but I'm sure,,, I will.

    That map really bothered me throughout the entire Force Awakens. It's this big giant McGuffin. If Luke didn't want to be found on his little hermit hideout why did he leave a map in the first place? The opening crawl says Leia is desperate to find her brother, she found him in The Empire Strikes, back dangling below Cloud City without even trying, just from Luke calling out her name. We know she's got some force skills, even though she's not a trained Jedi. When Kylo kills Han, they cut to her and you see that she feels it and has a physical reaction to it - it's similar to Obi Wan's reaction when they blow up Alderon in a New Hope. And it kind of bothered me that all this important stuff was just chillin on Jakku - Rey, the Falcon, and the map to Luke. That cannot be a coincidence. And then Han & Chewie capture the Falcon super quick after it leaves Jakku, I've wondered if there was some sort of tracking device that lets him know if it ever leaves the planet. He says it's been stolen by all these different people over the years, but it just so happens to be in possession of the same person Rey is left with on the same planet as the map to a guy who doesn't want to be found. Why did he have the map to begin with? And how long has he had it? Everything about Jakku was all too convenient for me. Oh and that's also where Finn was "awakened" from his Empire, I mean First Order, brainwashing. And I'm saying it now, Finn is going to wind up being force sensitive too.

    Thanks for putting this up. I think part of his backstory and stuff in the Poe comic can help piece a lot together... after doing some more research, and also watching this video and learning about Lor and stuff I didn't know, I'm going back to the Rey is an incarnation theory, but of the 1st Jedi/force user ever. It'll be a poetic plot point, with his Luke the last Jedi, no reunited with the 1st Jedi. Part of what pissed of like was his realization that there will always be light vs dark, unless the Jedi end. Part of his going away was to find more info about this, and about how to truly defeat a very powerful snoke. Luke trusted Lor with info, just enough of it, to help the right "chosen one" to eventually get their hands on it and get to Luke, as would be the will of the force. This person would be the one strong enough in the force that can help him take down snoke, but first he would have to test them immensely, and part of that was being able to put all the pieces together to find Luke. Lor being the main force "worshipper" or whatever, is entrusted because he could kinda sense that someone eventually needed this info, although he didn't know who. Reys parents are nobodies, probably another immaculate conception, and they are instantly "scared" of Rey and her powers even as a young child, not to mention that she just showed up in her moms belly one day. They leave her on jakku because they don't want a constant hunt for her, and are scared of what she might do without proper training. The only person they know who can possibly help get her to Luke, is king of the force church, Lor... so she's on jakku to hopefully one day facilistaye that meeting, where lor would realize "okay, this girl is the one who needs to train with Luke and take down snoke and all evil/dark side shit"...but Ben turns, learns of this info, and fucks everything up... there's a few holes in there, which I don't feel like typing forever on the toilet right now and trying to fill it all up, but this ties all 3 character together and gives credence to Rey being a "Mary sue" because she's imbibed with the full force of THE FORCE, but like kylo said, is untrained... now the will of the force takes her to Luke, who does realize "shit, this premonition I had is indeed true and now I gotta put her their trials to see if she is the one"

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +1

      I would like if something like this were the case... even though, yes, I'll be fine if Rey is just Luke's daughter. However, I feel like they should do more with the story than just that. Yes, the Saga movies are about the Skywalker family... but keep in mind this new trilogy is still very much about Luke. And let's not forget about Kylo Ren who will, I believe, be just as much a main character as anyone. That's already a lot of Skywalker.
      I'm all for making Rey something completely new and different that will literally make us gasp when we hear it... If eventually we hear she's Luke's daughter, there will be no shock value it all.... unless there is some huge twist to do with that (which I would hope there would be).
      I do think it's very likely Rey is the creation of the Force (or was picked by the Force to awaken in) to counterbalance Snoke who is now running wild on the galaxy again... assuming he was that dark side presence that Palpatine felt. And I like the idea that Luke gave Lor San Tekka the map in hopes that one worthy enough would eventually find him... and when Rey shows up he's stunned that someone actually found the way, especially since what he's learned at the First Jedi Temple has led him to believe (for whatever reason) that the Jedi should end. Now he's got himself quite the quandary and dilemma on what he should do... train Rey to be Jedi or let their way's die with him?

    • @masterrserch3971
      @masterrserch3971 7 років тому +1

      exactly... her being his daughter is kinda contrite, but if it's done in a good way, then so be it.... (jedi)... Kylo will DEFINITELY be a main character, veyr much as main as Rey. It's a good way to further push the idea of BALANCE in the force, in the plot itself... and you summed up pretty much what i was saying, luke is like "damn, okay..well...they found me, probably sooner than i thought" and now he realizes that he has to train her to help take out snoke and Kylo/KoR, and while that probably isn't really THAT much of an issue for him, the quandary as you said is in "well...if i train her, im not letting the jedi end...so how do i train her for this one mission, yet convince her to let the jedi die afterwards?"
      Im also pretty sure that we're going to learn that Snoke IS this darkside presence, and the reason he calls out to people strong enough in the dark side or whatever, is because he is some kinda of essence transfer being, which the sith have done in the EU, old republic days, as THEIR way to live forever...im all but convinced this is why snoke is using Kylo... there wasn't a force user strong enough to suit his needs, besides Luke, whom he doesnt think he can defeat, much less get him to be a host for his essense. His body is starting to give way. So he senses some dark side qualities in Ben, turns him, and when he's ready and strong enough, he will USE HIM to put his life force into Kylo. However, now with the emergence of this hidden, powerful force user rey, he might be another person who turns his back on Ben, and try to go after her, especially since she's already got so much anger in her and has used the dark side before. This will probably make Kylo nutty and be the reason he forms an uneasy alliance for the time being with Luke and Rey to take out Snoke... in the end of it all, i still feel luke will die in the battle vs Snoke, and the combined efforts of the 2 remaining light and dark users, rey and kylo, will be enough to defeat snoke. They iwll then run to a dying luke, who will forgive his nephew, but that wont bring kylo to the light fully, and then he and rey will kinda just nod to each other, without speaking, and they will go their separate ways, until the next trilogy where they're both needed again, which like ive said many times, will hopefully be a threat unlike we've ever seen before, which really leads me to believe the yuuzahn vong or something like it will be the antagonist of the next films.... and speaking of kylo, i think that he will begin to realize that snoke is a bullshit artist and that after killing his father, he wasn't filled with the type of dark side power he had hoped, leading him to find in himself that his "pull to the light" while still using the dark side, is where true power lies. Reazling this, and snoke's plan to use him, will be all the revelation he needs to realize he needs to fight against snoke and not succumb to his will

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +1

      I'm pretty much with you on everything here. I think Kylo is going to soon find out that Snoke is completely full of it... and he'll figure that out when Snoke shows so much interest in finding Rey. It's a topic I've actually been meaning to do a video on (which is a list a mile long, lol). I'm also onboard with the essence transfer thing as you know since I included it in with of my other videos that, thankfully, not too many people seemed to be against. And I say that because I've heard some say essence transfer feels "un Star Wars like"... which is odd when you consider there are already ghosts in Star Wars and Yoda himself says in ESB: Luminous beings we are, not this crude matter... to me all that says the door is wide open for essence transfer, which I do think this is what Snoke wants: A new body because like all who wield the dark side, he seeks immortality and for his power to never end.
      Anyway I also agree Luke dies to Snoke, though something about the fight won't be fair or Luke will more 'sacrifice' himself than lose. Maybe that's the huge Luke fan in my talking but I just don't see him 'losing'. That's of course when Rey & Kylo will finish off Snoke together before either going their separate ways... or having one last duel.

    • @masterrserch3971
      @masterrserch3971 7 років тому

      agreed, and once again, you take something i bring up and expand on it and make more plausible, relatable, and detailed...I agree with you that the general consensus sorta is it's "un-star wars-like," but like u mentioned, Yoda pretty much said it, and that people become one with the force and we shouldn't grieve for the dead...and like I SAID, although it's Legends now, Valkorian did it, bane did it (or tried to), and even our boy Palps did it, albeith with clones of himself. That whole act of finding a host and kinda taking over it's body, in essence pushing out the being that once was, is quite the dark, evil act itself, and right up a Sith/Dark Sider's alley. It's basically murder, so it all kinda falls into place for more than one reason.
      As for Luke, he definitely won't lose, i think..it'll be like a cheap shot, kinda like how Han died.. maybe a mini little cease fire, a moment where it looks like Snoke is going to surrender, and then BAM, Luke gets it (since he is the biggest threat, at least in Snoke's eyes).. by this time, Kylo will have already resolved not to kill his beloved Uncle Luke, and Rey will see him as a father, mentor, master, and teacher all in one, so these 2 feelings will drive the 2 together to take out Snoke. This death however in no way means the end of Luke Skywalker in the films, i feel, because im sure he'll be back as a force ghost, and will be the epitome of such a thing, truly old, wise, and powerful, and "paying it forward" to help those who need him passed death, much like Kenobi, Yoda, and as we spoke of ysterday, eventually his father Anakin, have helped him from beyond the grave as well. Part of me also doesn't want to see this, for so long as Mark Hamill is alive and they're telling Star Wars stories, we can and should get the tales of Luke skywalker, especially his story after episode 6, like we've all wanted for decades. Id love to see a prequel to these epsidoes 7-9, how luke was right after ROTJ, forming his new school, a young Ben Solo, and his eventual turn...however, that's kinda tough what with the age of the character and Carrie being dead :-(
      but hey, that's what CGI and special effects are for...OR, even better, a new cartoon series or series of movies to tell that story. ...and while im on that, even though i was happy with TFA, and this ep8 looks to be great, i feel kinda robbed of seeing the story of my precious luke skywalker, and how he grew into a powerful jedi...obviously, this is real life, so age is a factor, so it wouldve been hard to tell that story, especially since there were no plans ot make a new trilogy until the last 8 years or whatever... a comic would be great, but i want to see it play out on screen, so i really REALLY hope they at least do a cartoon of it... it could be direct to VOD movies like the animated DC library (which has some awesome fucking gems in it, lemme tell ya)...that obviously wouldn't be as awesome as seeing a real live movie, but the timing is just way too off...and then, with a cartoon, obvioulsy they can get voices of whomever wants to reprise the role (i doubt harrison ford would), and of course voices that sound like voices of those we've lost... see, THIS is where the idea of you and i collaborating on a "film" in the universe of star wars comes into effect lol... we come up with the idea, plot, outline, screenplay, then shop it around, and become rich and get our own series of fanboys too lolol

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +1

      I do feel a bit robbed as well, that we didn't really get to see Luke story as a Jedi (if you will). Well, at least not yet. We know one way or another it WILL get told and I really hope that's in the next animated series set post RotJ... and that it will, to some degree, be about Luke. They could even get Hamill to do the voice and I'd imagine he'd be all for it. That idea would bring more people into the 'animated' side of Star Wars than any other idea ever could...
      Also, as strange as essence transfer may sound to some... the groundwork is already there for it. They'd just have to be careful not to make it come off corny, which it certainly could if done wrong.
      And you know, I think you may have absolutely 100% nailed it here. Luke's death will be what finally brings Rey & Kylo Ren together. And maybe Luke will realize that he cannot defeat Snoke... but that together they can. Then he pulls an Obi-Wan and lets himself be killed... but of course vanishes before he dies so that we get Force ghost Luke later on.
      Man, it's almost scary the stuff that comes out bouncing ideas off each other.

    During the Force Awakens, we are shown that Lor San Tekka was an acquaintance or friend of the Han Solo family. It makes sense that any connection to Luke was formed through Han. Han did know a number of colorful people including bounty hunters. When I heard that there would be a Han Solo movie, I assumed we would see Lors again and get a bit of back story.

    Congrats on 15K!
    I think it's rather interesting that both Daisy and Mark disagree with Johnson regarding their characters.
    Even though Mark disagrees with the direction Johnson is taking Luke, I think making Luke another dead-beat dad is going really really far. To me, it was a bit much that, to an extent, Han and Leia were made out like this, but I can't see Luke doing it. I agree with Luke training the new Jedi in the Prequel Jedi Order ways. This is where I believe he finally blames both the Jedi and Sith and thus, believes the Jedi Order needs to end because he believes a true Force user flows with the Force and let's it guide you, much like a river.
    As for Lor San Tekka. I think he was on Jakku for two reasons, which are [1] to make the movie more similar to ANH, and [2]honestly just fan service for the movie, not unless we eventually get a stand alone movie between ROTJ and TFA - which I highly doubt and, without even looking into it too much, would be similar to Rogue One right from the start. I agree that he wasn't there to protect or guide Rey at all.

      First of all... thanks, my friend. It's almost hard to believe 15,000 people wanta listen to me talk about Star Wars. This has been a very humbling and amazing experience so far, and I appreciate everyone who watches and subscribes.
      As for Luke being a deadbeat dead... I also don't think they'd take his character in that direction, but I wouldn't rule it out entirely. It's also one of the main reasons I've always been against the idea that Luke is her dad. There is almost no way to do it without casting a very negative light on Luke... and it sounds like this movie is already going to do enough of that. So I do really hope that Rey is not his daughter... though it won't be the end of the world if it does turn out to be the case.
      I also agree Lor San Tekka was yet another way to make this movie feel like ANH. I was going to say in my video that he is basically the Captain Antilles of this movie. A guy for our big bad villain to kill early in the movie to establish the tone for the character. And in TFA's case, they even made him known by the big bad villain, which made it feel even more heinous.

    • @thorskywalker

      I also doubt it will be the twist... but I have this great fear that they're going to go even further with this 'broken Luke' idea than we even think, which I just cannot get onboard with. Granted, I haven't seen the movie and how it will all play out... but there were a LOT of ways to make a fascinating story, and to bring something new to the character of Luke without breaking him. The idea of making his so powerful that he was afraid of his own power sounds far more intriguing to me....

    Lor San Tekka was a retired underground cage fighter who was currently nursing a bum shoulder before he got light sabred. When Lor "Lordy Lordy" San "the Man" Tekka was fighting in his hey dey, he won every fight he was placed in. He was born to a one-legged prostitute named Chloe who had webbed feet. His father was a con man who smelled curiously of elderberries. One day he was matched in a fight to the death and when his challenger was announced, he saw his brother standing in the corner. Lor "the non-boor" San Tekky was all like, "No man! I wont kill my brother Nibbles!" but the fight promoters were all like, "We'll kill this baby if you dont fight!" and so very reluctantly, San Tekkia agreed. He ended his brother with one swift kick to the throat. It was very sad. So Lor retired and moved to Jakku to be close to the Light side Force nexus. This was all in the bonus deleted scenes on the lazerdisk version. I cant believe more people didn't know about this?

    Maybe the reason why Rey is so powerful in the ways in the force even thought she had no official training is because of the planet itself giving her the ability to use it because it sees what she will do in the future and made things easier on her. the Aftermath book says the planet is a nexis of the light side of the force (kind of ironc isn't is?). She's not a child of a jedi or a Skywalker; her parents are basically nobodies in the galaxy from a core world.

    Fantastic video Thor, love your style. My question is about R2, who possessed the majority of the map. Surely Luke placed it within him, yes? Potentially to be discovered when the time was right? We know R2 was with Luke when Kylo destroyed his academy as seen in the forceback sequence. You suggest that Luke doesn't seem happy Rey, or anyone for that matter, found him but R2 had the map. R2 shutdown when Luke went missing. I can't wrap my head around what that's all about. Unless Luke was ready to be found.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому

      You bring up some really good points, but I'm not sure Luke actually gave a piece of the map to R2. I remember reading, and I believe it was in the novelization of TFA, that R2 essentially downloaded the Imperial archive at one point and went into low power mode to essentially process it all. And then he just so happened to power back up at just the right time. Believe me, I know that sounds pretty ridiculous but I think that's the explanation they're going with.

    Mercenary technically --- per tfa book -----i don't know that the issue of no attachment was a focus but the light side, in general, was the focus of Luke's teachings that was the failure ...Rey is not going to be Luke's child . However, go back to Poe's comments after Ren killed Lor san tekka... and will discover when Ren killed Lor san Tekka .. he was not upset by what Poe said. In fact if hux was to see the whole conversation from the book on a holochron. Killing Lor San Tekka was a Betrayal to the FO. Lor san Tekka was clearly a close friend of the family and knew the skywalker family. he was at the village probably because of his own past ... he hurt those people in the past.... that is all in the book. What was important was Ren could not let Hux get a hold of Lor san Tekka with or without the map Lor san tekka was a dead man. and i think he knew it .

  • @Mike_C-79

    I can't see how anyone but Luke would have given Lor San Tekka the map. And if someone else had discovered the whereabouts of the first Jedi temple, why is it just a fragment, and why did R2D2 have all but that fragment of the map in his data banks? I also think that Luke activated R2D2 when he learned that the rest of the map was safely in the hands of the Resistance and the First Order had suffered a great defeat. I doubt that the look on Luke's face was one of surprise when Rey approached him, unless it was from having seen the lightsaber.

      "Leia has sent her most daring pilot on a secret mission to Jakku, where an old ally has discovered a clue to Luke's whereabouts"
      It is worded to almost imply he found it on Jakku... but I don't think that's what they meant. They try to keep the opening crawl as brief and concise as possible and I think that's why it's worded the way it is. It also seems to confirm that he found it, instead of having it be given to him by Luke which the sourcebook I mentioned in the video claims.

    A story can sometime be like the guards at the gate and hide secrets from you. It can be a movie and it can be a book. I want to talk about the opening act of TFA . I have to say this saga is riddled with what I think is hidden stories, hints and red herrings. The opening scene is important to note the subtle hints, which it has to do to keep the story honest. So we see the visual of Kylo Ren coming from a lighted ship very light into the night the darkness and the chaos of a short battle. He goes directly to Lor San Tekka. In the movie the conversation is short. In the book it’s a little longer, in the book you have more sense this older man cared about this younger may at one time. Lor san Tekka reminds us that he came from the light and not the dark and his family was important. We think Ren is angry about the mention of his family. Ren kills him quickly. We are reminded later on that he has a temper so we associate his temper to this point of killing this old man. But is that what really happened? Ren thinks he is finished but Phasma comes up and reminds him. There is a moment of hestation and he then says kill them Kill them all. He stands by his order and stands by to see the deed done. Notice his fist are very tight. He then walks away and then senses Finn and knows what he has done or not done… Ren Knows. But then the moment is gone and he moves on Never telling Phasma.

    • @winterstar4813
      @winterstar4813 7 років тому

      The next scene with him is about the pilot. Now remember Poe has just been through Hux’s torture and cannot be broken by Hux. .. some of the dialog was cut here maybe to keep something hidden or just to cut time. Poe says “Might wanna rethink your technique.” The book has a little more and goes on to say “Hard to get cooperation from a Dead man.” Ren replies without his temper, “A truism on which you might personally which to reflect. It is pathetic, though. Is it not ? You and I, both in pursuit of a ghost.”

    • @winterstar4813
      @winterstar4813 7 років тому

      The key comes from Poe you cannot get information from a dead man. Ren did not kill Lor san tekka because of his temper (agreed he does have one) Replay again he went directly to the man he had to talk to him first. Once he determined he did not have the map. He killed him. He had too, what Ren could not risk what Lor san Tekka might know where to find Luke as well as other family secrets and location of his mother. He knew that Lor San tekka would not survive Hux’s torture and he could not take that risk. He was going to walk off until Phasma reminded him. Had he not agreed to this Phasma would have reported it to Hux and Hux would have reported it to Snoke. And good possibility that Snoke whould have removed him from the mission. Ren could not risk that. He had to have the map and that is because of what he knew about the FO. Based on Ren’s attire he has not been long with FO and I think finding the SKB was something he had not counted on.. he needs the map to reach out to Luke.

      He turned down the role of Darth Maul because it wasn't big enough. Also, considering her took the role of "The Collector" in Guardians of the Galaxy, I think he's more apt to take on fun, smaller roles now that his name/career is well established... which is what DJ is likely to be.

For what reason are those two main plot element on the same planet. There is no explanation of why Palapatine's son went to this planet in first place, and why Tekka was on the same place. Thor do you think there is any significance that Lor San Tekka was played by such a famous actor who was able to bring a huge amount of gravitas to what was actually (so far) a very small part? Max von Sydow is he not of similiar stature in the acting world as Sir Alec Guinness? Maybe Lor San Tekka's full role has yet to be revealed? Just a thought.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +1

      That is a great point, and it does seem strange to get such a renowned actor to play such a bit part. Maybe Sir Alec Guinness and Max von Sydow were friends and von Sydow wanted to honor his old friend by playing at least some part in Star Wars? It isn't a wild assumption to make considering Sydow is about fifteen or so years older than Guiness would be. I wouldn't be surprised if they were even in movies together back in the day.
      Either that or there is still a role to be played by Lor San Tekka, which I'd be fine with. His history so far is very interesting and I really want it to be expanded on more. Not to mention Max von Sydow is a terrific actor and I was more than a little disappointed that he was killed off pretty much immediately.

    I dont know why Luke is on that Planet but I hope he has a really good Reason for it, and ... I don't know, maybe Snoke is a Jedi. I and some of my Friends have a Game "Creating the Craziest Tinfoil-Theory" who wins doesn't have to pay his drinks. Well lately one of my Friends came up with a crazy Snoke-Theory and remember we only make this for fun, nothing is serious here ;)
    Luke said: It is Time for the Jedi to end. The Reason he believes that is: Because Snoke is a Jedi, a Jedi who is strong in the Force and doesn't believe that there is a Dark or light side, but simply the Force, so in fact he is strong with the Dark Side as Palpatine (as mentuined in the Aftermath-Series) thought and felt he just doesn't use it for his own selfish Purpose like a Sith would do. And as a JEdi he follows a specific Way of Life, he helps them who need help (for example: like the Rest of the Imperial needed help when they fled into the unknown Regions), he puts the greater Good before his own good and so on, he has no attachments and thats important, because Snoke orders Kylo to kill his Father, not in Words, but he implicates it, he actually doesn't want Skywalker dead, he just doesn't want him on the Field and he fears the new Jedi who would rise with Skywalkers return. So in very simple Way he orders him or wants for him to have no attachments, in the Book he is angry when he finds out that Kylo has Compassion for Rey, that there could be a new Attachment. So Snoke is the last Jedi but not as the generell Audience understand what a JEdi is, but in a creepy Way.
    As I said that was just for Fun. For Lor San Tecca ... well I think we will hear about him one last Time, I think he will be mentioned by Luke, so that the Movies of the Trilogy are more connected to each other, at least for us Fans. Or maybe in a Hologram in the Background, nothing big, just for the Continuity

      That is a fun little theory about Snoke. And Pablo Hidalgo did say there are no Sith in The Force Awakens so maybe that could somehow be the big twist. And if Snoke is a Jedi it would explain why Luke wouldn't be onboard with their ideals anymore. However, I don't know if Disney wants to tarnish the image of the Jedi even more. I do think they will, by the end of the trilogy, have built them back up to be special again.

    I know for a fact that Luke tried to train the first generation of new Jedi in the old ways like the prequel movies. That is the reason why his temple burned to the ground because it's opposite the will of the force. The Jedi and the Sith will never succeed because they are half measure.

      Thor Skywalker and ps, I tend to use "perhaps you feel you're being treated unfairly....?" a lot in my day to day activities, the instant someone complains to me about something.... maybe my favorite Vader line/moment.... cuz it just shows how bad his rep is, as Lando just backs down

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому

      Damn it, that is a great line but it's one I never use... and it does show just how bad ass Vader is because Lando knows that wasn't an open invitation to renegotiate by any stretch. Another one I use all the time (and my fiancé hates it mostly because of the way I do it) is: So be it... (and then I'll have a long dramatic pause) Jedi. It's always been one of my favorite Palp's lines.

    what the visual dictionary says kinda doesnt make a whole lot of sense. why would luke give anyone a map? why does he want to be found rather than just returning? why does lor san tekka wait 6 years before giving it to the resistance?
    also the lego games are supposed to be for the most part canon. they are just silly versions of what actually happened. i think this was confirmed.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому

      I agree. There are a lot of things that don't make any sense if Luke gave the map to Lor San Tekka... and I'm pretty sure the Lego game is the canon version of events... other than all the goofy antics that to with it.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +1

      I don't know that I've ever heard an official answer on this from Lucasfilm. Though I do recall Lego saying that the stories set between RotJ & TFA were supposed to be considered canon stories.

    • @11Dadey
      @11Dadey 7 років тому

      Thor Skywalker ok I'm probably thinking of the freemaker series, I'm pretty sure Lucasfilm officially said that wasn't. I must've got that statement mixed up thinking they meant all lego wasn't canon

    • @thorskywalker

      That could be, because they have come out and said that the Freemaker series is officially not canon.

    I really think Rey is Luke's daughter, and they were torn from one another in some tragic way. I remember someone saying that John Williams loved Rey's character so much that he wanted to be the only person who could ever compose music for her (or something like that). I just can't see that being the case if she was born from the light side nexus.
    Overall, I feel like the nexus theory would be cooler if done right, but the daughter theory would be more compelling if done right XD

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому

      Max Von Sydow, the actor who played Lor San Tekka, is 88 years old... and though we don't know Lor's exact age, I'd say it's approximately 88 years old also.

      Thor Skywalker ....correct me if I'm wrong.......BLOODLINES novel did Luke journey with lot San tekka to find Jedi artifacts before setting up the Jedi academy...was he with Ben at the time.. before Leia had the chance to tell Ben who his grand father was....(someone's got to write a novel blowing the lid off this story line ...)

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому

      Ben & Luke are together during "Bloodline" and all we know is that they are 'traveling together'. Leia tries at a couple points to get into contact with them but cannot establish a link... and assumes they are in wild space, since communications is hard to establish there. Lor San Tekka is not mentioned at all in that book.

    I wonder if star wars will look at chewbacka and wonder what he is feeling, there must be a story there. Here is one of the most loyal friends who sees his well-bonded friend by the child of his friend, a child he must have been close to, to have protected as almost his own, and then be the one who killed his best friend's child. That would mess up any feeling being.

    I truly believe that Kylo is not what Snoke wants him to be. I can't say for sure whether or not Kylo will be the end of Snoke, but I do believe that Kylo will bring back the Sith order. Maybe not fully but at least in his own way. It would be awesome if he found Vaders castle on Mustafar and researched the relics that Vader had stashed there. Since it is highly plausible that Vaders castle has been abandoned since his demise.

    • @thorskywalker
      @thorskywalker  7 років тому +1

      I think there's a really good chance that Kylo will go to Vader's castle at some point in the new trilogy. I also think you might be right, that one thing Kylo wants to accomplish is to bring back the Sith. It would surprise me if he doesn't considering the fascination he has with his grandfather.
