Saturday was the ultimate sleeper day on WB. Everyone came expecting the worst. Somehow the sun shone and once ski patrol laid down a solid line on the Peak chair, it was game on for the day. Extremely variable conditions: from boiler plate ice to 14+" of decent quality, almost blower pow. Groomers were rough, though some softened up decently. Alpine was a real mixed bag. Back side of peak was 4" of decent snow over hard crust. Symphony had deeper snow, but the crust beneath was a bit punchy, so you needed to ski a bit delicately. Skied Sun spots near Sun Bowl: super solid skiing with 8"+ deep in the trees. But the best skiing was in glacier bowl: 12-14" deep excellent snow. Went over to 7th in the afternoon and that was disappointing. But the sun and the decent Alpine conditions make for a pretty damn nice - if busy - Saturday that had no business being that good!

My sons 1st year working there, i was hoping his 1st ever overseas working holiday would be amazing and it has so far but yeah he's been telling me there's been so much rain.
good news is the crust has stabilised the snowpack quite a bit. managed to get good snow in the duffey going high enough on north aspects. hoping for more snow soon, looks pretty dry rn. might go down to WA for the weekend's activities, seems they're getting the next bout of precip we're missing out on
Been enjoying a few of these on Mount Washington. Rained for a week destroying the bottom of the mountain. The news just blowing it up at how bad it is, then I have the time of my life. No one on the hill, just doing laps of 4” of fresh snow all day. Ya there was a few crusty spots , others without snow, a few small running creeks but holy smokes what a couple of days! Everyone thought I was crazy expecting me to have horror stories but it was the opposite, and a bluebird day. hahaha

In whistler right now..hiked up past horstman hut and dropped in horstman glacier. Hit a gnarly Boulder and separated my base layer from my topsheet layer. Beware of the sharks. Dust on crust everywhere

Lol Yeah, I grew up in Rockville, skiing Liberty and Wisp back in the 70s-80s. Blue Knob and Seven Springs are probably two of the best in the region, but if you want the best, Snowshoe WV is pretty dang good! Cupp Run can be a bear if it’s ungroomed.
But nothing compares to out west.
Oh trust me, I'm grateful every single day for the amazing place I live. It's truly unbelievable.
@@flapjackson6077snowshoe and wisp have my heart!! Only been to seven springs once when I was way younger but I’ve been eager to check it out
I was up there on Saturday and the snow sucked but on sunbowl the snow was rlly good I did the chute . I wanted to ask you what is the chute beside Hawaii 5-0 called.

I think that is a PC area and is likely not skiable. After 5-0 the only skiable entrance is bushrat shoulder
