This episode is longer than normal and it goes in to detail as to why we wouldn't normally go to these lengths when making a video. If you have the mental capacity of a squirrels ball-sack, can't take in information or are a dull nonce that has little to offer the world, please skip this video and go watch Phil and Holly. The rest of you, Enjoy 😉
This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've watched this video and it still makes me laugh watching you guys celebrate the fact that the engine was pissing everything out there moles brilliant well done guys keep up the good work if you're still monitoring this😅😅😅😅😅
You have got to get it going, I was born in London, but through the 1950's I travelled up and down to Sunderland and back London and saw equipment dumps after the war full of these vehicles . I remember those trucks, thousands of them, all gone now, the survivors must be restored. Do it.
I love how Brits start a sequence of dialog with "Right!". It's as though they are declaring at the start, "what I am about to say is authoritatively true".
I was hatched in 1950. As a child and in a previous life I lived close to a timber yard. The owners had 2 of these old gals hauling huge trailer loads of timber every day. The trailers were massive and the tractor units would be using every bit of power pulling those trailers up an incline. Great work both. Keep at her.
Lord Muck, us over here in the USA want in on the action. 2023= not many WW2 era vehicles to recover over here anymore. Y'all got a great find there! Much luck and love the humor!
Many moons ago a Glastonbury mud year.. I got to play in one of these. it was a monster. It made a fortune pulling rigs on and off site. It had a huge switch like something off the old Frankenstein movie to start it.. Was told not to brake hard or the cab might fall off. Loved it.
Many thanks for a great watch again, I wasted a lot of time watching you on the tractor run & thoroughly enjoyed it, THEN you post this one about the Matador, I am 72 now but at the age of 19 I worked as a trailer boy on a Matador & pipe trailer for William Press in Kent & that one had all the window frames polished along with most of the copper pipes. It was amazing where we took it especially off road, one got the trailer loaded with pipes bogged & ours was hooked up to it with the winch & we could not move it, enter an RB 22 crane to pull our Matador plus the stuck one, the RB 22 was pulling itself toward us so it was anchored to a large tree & we managed to pull the trailer out, the tension of the total pull was frightening but the Matadors survived it.I have driven many AEC's over the years & just love them. Again many thanks.
That looked from the Start that she was Dead.... But Mucker and Matt sorted it and she was nearly firing on all Cylinders 😆 🤣 😂... Brilliant to see it move, and u two need to do more Videos together as they are brilliant..... Great Content as normal
Dad and I enjoy all your videos but as an ex lorry driver dad especially likes these old Matadors. Thanks Mucker for giving us a super enjoyable Sunday evening watch. Pretty amazing that you got so far with this and we are looking forward to seeing progress on the old gal. Seasons greetings to you all.
This was a brilliant thing, to see the old girls "heart" turning over and potentially saving a piece of history was amazing! These trucks have always fascinated me with their looks, the ungainly looking cab etc. The fair that came to my village and still does had a collection of these little beuts as generator trucks and towing vehicles as well! Great stuff Guys!!
I live in South Wales and a man who lived in my village called John Edwards had one of those and he was a wood cutter, after his passing the truck was sold in the nineties, it was something special to look at and became a local landmark.
Just found your channel. Subbed straight away. Really pleased you're going to push on with this job - me dad drove one or two of these wagons in the desert back in his day. Good luck with it.
Ayup me ol mucker, this episode is bloody brilliant, my great grandfather drove 1 in the same colours during the Africa campaign with the royal artillery. Can't wait for the next episode on this old girl. You and Matt, do well Frank
The Maltese Cross on the red background was the flash for Malta Command and the red & blue insignia on the other side would indicate a Royal Artillery Unit. If they were both applied at the same time then the vehicle was probably used by an AA unit (possibly during the siege!), as they made up the majority of RA units on Malta during WWII. Great video as always, keep them coming! Love to see the Matadors!
This randomly appeared in my feed, watched in full with no skipping and loved it, great banter with the English make do and mend mentality. and what a beast that thing is! There use to be a massive scrap yard in Poole, Dorset alongside Ringwood Rd backing onto industrial land, it is long gone now as we use to knock around in it as kids in the late 1980's, it was full of these old birds, many with a turret ring in the roof for a gun mount at guess, I imagine most ended up in the smelting pot, from memory they're were generally pretty solid with good cabs still. Anyhow I've subbed to you lads and look forward to more, have a great Christmas.
Well, that was a will it start worth waiting for. Good to see it “as it is”, and love seeing you and Matt together as you have a bit of fun - Matt certainly has a droll wit! If watching/ liking/ subscribing is all it takes to get more of this content then I am getting real value for money entertainment. 👍
Love these videos and banter, no annoying music and he sounds like one us too .... A Norfolk/East Anglian man.... gods own county true grit men salt of the earth! maybe one day I can get over and share with my beaten up stock of plant, classic cars ,etc. Great video for those who have been bitten. Keep them coming.
🇺🇸 Where the hell are you guys from in the U.K. I can actually understand what you are saying. I watch B.B.C. AMERICA news all the time and can't understand half of what they are blabbering about. Good luck on that animal your restoring. 👍
I got a little excited when I saw the pistons come free and the old girl lurch about. I’m with you on the history side, half the charm of the old gear is there past work lives.
Thank you Matt and Mucker! I absolutely LOVE these long videos, especially if it features a matador! I truly appreciate the work you put in for these. I can't wait to see what happens next with this engine.
By far the best entertainment I've watched all week , apart from you and Mildred on the tractor run yesterday as a spin off Matt should bottle that heating and used engine oil as after shave - mattadior 😃😃😃
Fantastic to see it turning over with the starter motor by the end. From what most other people would send off to the scrap man, you guys have spent your time to get it one step nearer to running! They don't build them like they used to, such a throw away society now, nothings really built to last these days.
I've just watched that camarata guy and its mind boggling how so many folk are sucked in by his incompetence. You guys on the other hand play around but it's plain to see you know exactly what you're doing. Keep it up !
I agree. How on earth he gets so many followers it's like he creates drama just for views. Mucker is in a different league, would love to see him collaborate with diesel creek
Before you go much further I would suggest pulling the sump off . The sludge in the heads reminds me of a 220hp Scania I was working on about 35 years ago . Temperature 30c plus and had to pull the sump to change the oil . First and only time I have changed oil with a shovel . Strange thing is there was still oil pressure before and after . The truck was doing line haul between Sydney and Melbourne doing about 6000k a week or 3 trips It was still going 2 years plus after when I changed jobs still without a problem . Ahhh the life of a diesel mechanic
Sump is full of crud and Shyte that we've flooded it with so it will be taken off, cleaned and crank visually inspected before we attempt to start it otherwise we will be swilling all that debris around
That was unbelievable, It looked very bad at the start, I'm impressed, had a bloody good laugh and was entertained. All for the price of nowt. Win win win.
Hello mucker and Matt love watching you both doing a bit on the matterdors and showing people that you don't always need starting fuelled for the big machines and hope Matt is doing well with the other matterdor he is restoring and keep up the good work
There's that film of the sunken ship in the Red Sea- the Thistlegorm and along with LMS locos, motorbikes and other things there's a Matador on board. Now, getting that started would be the ultimate challenge.
Great video, so good when you and Matt get together. I remember as a kid Glews garage at Goole had a couple of Matadors as recovery wagons, they seemed so big as a 5 year old in the 70s. I.also remember one came to the farm to spread lime along with a Bedford RL I think the model was. Keep up.the good work looking forward to seeing more Matador action.
That was a great vid, cheers Mucker and Matt, looking forward to the next update on this project, and you'll be pleased to know I was here sharp on 19:00 all present and correct on time after you lambasted me on last nights live feed on the tractor run (which I have to say was bloody great) I hope you and George enjoyed your fish and chips and a few beers no doubt, thanks again, keep em coming!!!
Good evening me lord, Well I must say I didn’t think you was going to get it to turn over so that’s a big plus you just keep trying to get them to go and I will keep watching , Great tractor run last night 10 out 10. 🚜👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love the AEC Matador! One probably fueled my granddad's B-17 at Great Ashfield, Suffolk as a fuel bowser. Good on you for saving it. Greetings from the USA.
@@LordMuck Indeed. As often happens in war, equipment gets shared officially and "unofficially" as well. You guys made some great equipment! Glad you enjoyed it. We have a laugh and it really aggravates the no-marks who haven't the knowledge or ability but try and convince those around that they do (the ones who don't like any explanation or talking because they're too thick to actually know what it all means) Glad to have you along 😉👍

Excellent video, actually I thought that was no way that that engine was going to turn over but with perseverance, you and Matt accomplished a lot well done to you and Matt. Hi from Australia.
You say about remembering old Matadors from your youth in timber yards as such took me right back to being a nipper...our garden backed on to Braces timber yard in High Ongar...in my memory they had hundreds of old ex-army trucks stuck right down the back of the yard..my Brother & me spent ages climbing all over 'em...made a big impression on me..now, every time I see an old AEC or Scammell I have to stop and take a look!...Thanks for some great videos,Your Lordship!!.👍😁👍
Ya gotta go for it, you know you've made up your mind to get her running I just enjoy you two working together. Stay a week or so, visit the pub often, give it!
Lord Muck and his good Chap Matt were teasing us throughout the whole video... and I enjoyed it thoroughly! Now I can't wait to see that Matador fire up! Thank you Gents!!!!
Great to see you working on something old again. When you pulled it the oil mist coming out of the ports made me think of steam out of a steam calliope.

You could probably get some of that gunk from the engine, mix some rocks with it and patch a pothole. Might even be able to use it on a roof. It's the rare 3rd stage of oil, never before seen....it's turned into TAR. 😄😄 I've honestly never seen that much gunk before. I think there might be hope for the old girl after all, despite all that. And since I enjoy these videos, I'm proud to be a MUCKER! Thank you for sharing! 👍👌
Absolutely terrific👌 the moment the old desert rat misted out that diesel out the injector holes!😁 And as usual birds nest for luck! I'll keep supporting you M'lod so you can keep doing this sort of fun stuff. All the best, cheers, Mike

That’s what I call patience and perseverance! Good job! Done well!
Love the banter in the video, is that Monte's cap in the back of the cab?!!!.
Great video as ever , you and Mat are such a great double act 😂 hope to see it running 🎉 thanks
So cool! Thank you for sharing.
That one she’s a runner……Subscribed and liked every time it’s the decent to do for more than decent content…stuff the shite on the telly 👍👍
Absolutely terrific👌 the moment the old desert rat misted out that diesel out the injector holes!😁 And as usual birds nest for luck! I'll keep supporting you M'lod so you can keep doing this sort of fun stuff.
All the best, cheers, Mike
Love it , can't decide which video give me the largest lump in my throat , the collie rescues or you guys giving CPR to one of these beasts of burden and bring them back from flatline , excellent video, thank you chaps
