What are you going to be for Halloween? I'm gonna be Jax from Digital Circus👻🦇🎃 UPDATE: 11/1/2024 Thread from Sanestsusan: x.com/verysanesusan/status/1847655247910481992
Genuinely my first thought when learning they were 14, like jesus christ, I get you might be upset about not being as popular as nsfw (Even though there's great evidence that there's an equal amount of nsfw artists who fail to even hit 10 likes with art that's super incredible), but talking about nsfw shit while being 14? Come back to this discussion when you're older!
As a younger artist the engagement is what keeps me going. Seeing that people enjoy what I make gives me incentive to improve. I don’t usually compare my art to other art (mostly cause I don’t use twitter much) but I do get demotivated when people just don’t care about what I make. Thats the reason why I don’t like making big projects, cause it takes a while for me to finally finish so most people can’t see what I make so I usually just give up and try something else. I’m hoping that as I get better I’m also able to draw more without needing people’s support. Also I’m going as shaggy from scooby doo
I'm a small NSFW artist and I get zero likes. So that argument is flawed. sfw and nsfw pieces really does not matter at the slightest. you just have to be lucky on social media
Same, i hate this kind of agurment so much. I also draw nsfw too but scared of be taken down or be a joke because of bad artskill. People always think just because someone draw popular things thats mean all of them would have 1000 followers 1 hour. I draw fanarts over my life and has under 10 likes.
Eeeee thanks so much for sharing my comment! Pop off dude, thanks for taking our feedback and making this vid! I’m glad this topic was covered-I’m sensing a lot of tension and frustration from a lot of artists these days. Social media is really pushing that hustle culture on us ;u; I can’t dress up this year but I plan on dressing up as Ame from NSO next year :3
Bro, I'd be so mad at someone for drawing NSFW and posting it publicly, no offense toward anyone, this is only personal for me and i won't try to chase you down, I tend to not like some NSFW artist, like Krekk0v and Kiwipug, even if they do SFW, I still won't like them, it only makes my blood boils everytime I find out what they actually draw. They offend with gore and their fetish, they're both masochist.
@@lordevolder9907 yeah also it makes Twitter to be less friendly on beginner/noob artist just like Tiktok It slowly turns into a pro artist only territory
Tbh I’ve been struggling with my art getting overlooked (even with artwork that’s SFW). I have a major issue when it comes to deflated self esteems + constantly seeking approval. I try my best to find advice, but it simply doesn’t work for me when I try putting it into practice. It’s mostly a problem on discord. Many people on servers would absolute get more attention with their art pieces, but when I post mine, my art gets overlapped (basically over posted without a single comment or reaction). Recently I’ve been deleting my art posts on discord, bc I’ve been developing a mentality that my art is just something that nobody cares about.
Oof I felt this, there are some really talented artists in my server so it's a bit tough to really get attention on my art. And the most I get is mostly just questions or some good comments like "nice" not the praise some other artist get.
Can relate to this. It feels like I have to wait for eternity for any of my work to even get noticed. I stopped posting in discord servers because the people only care about one specific user and their art that gets pinned by the server owner an praised all around, meanwhile mine only got measly comments and small emojis or ignored all together. I hate it so much so I just stopped posting all together because nobody reacted like I thought they should an ruining my self esteem so I posted on another server where I did get better reactions. I don't know why this has become a thing or why server owners decide that showing favoritism is a okay but it's stupid to all heck.
@@MoonpoolcatTbh I 100% relate to with what you said about favoritism. That’s why I developed a MASSIVE “constant seeking for approval.” I wanted to get recognition and it plays a significant part in my own self worth. It may just be the subject matter with what I draw (like fanart of Nimona, MHA, Madagascar, etc.) things that are hyperfixations I have or if I’m just somehow a person that nobody gives a mess about.
@@Moonpoolcat So did i, and i felt like im a loser bad artist for having low responses. Jeez, upload my work daily on internet is the biggest mistake ever and i always feel annoyed whenever i saw any artist share some artist-relates post like: "guys what do you think about my art? Is my art bad? What does my art taste like?" It happen lots of time and im tired of it but at the same time, i feel bad for them. They just want somebody remembers
It’s an old unfortunate truth, but it still goes without saying, seggs sells, and idc who may get butt hurt when I say this, it’s so cheap to me, and it will always be cheap to me, so there. However, on the real though, I find it unfortunate that many underage people in the art community who are trying to make their mark in the art world will end up finding themselves exposed to certain niches such as the NSFW niche, of which I’m SO against minors getting over exposed to that knowing how damaging it can be to ones mind and I’ve seen it, and conforming to a niche for the sake of building an audience out desperation. They may very well had no true intention for it in the beginning, but because they see how easy it attracts people, on top of that seeing how big that audience is, they’ll naturally have the inclination to go in that direction and miss out on exploring their own trademark not even having to resort to that. We were all kids once, we know what it feels like to fall under deep impression good or bad, and at some point when I see a niche that I could not give two damns about, I just roll my eyes, crack a few jokes and swipe left like I ain’t see shyt. Comes with being older. Now not to downplay that kid’s feelings because I still think it’s valid, but you really got to pick your battles wisely on these cesspools called social media…
Sex sells but not everyone selling sex gets a good cut, if they get a cut at all. I find it more problematic that a minor is engaging in art and being exposed to nsfw in the first place, it's arguably worse than DA where it was fetish art, on twitter they likely encountered real material not meant for them
I think most people underestimate how much skill NSFW artists have. They write it off or take it for granted because porn is just seen as "lower" than everything else. Meanwhile, as a 3D artist, I've seen still renderings of Overwatch NSFW art with skin details that I would pay to learn how to recreate. Somehow they have realistic skin shaders without sacrificing the stylized/cartoony qualities of the characters. The only other studio I see that can do that is Pixar!
My eyes lit up when you mentioned Legends of Avantris. I love that channel so much, their shorts and OUAW are so good!!!! Favourite character is definitely Frost, followed very closely by Chuckles, of course!!
I used to have this issue. It absolutely sucked. Though for a while I was trying to figure out why that is while having these feelings of rejection and self pity. It took me sometime to snap out of this issue. After this whole mental roadblock. I just stopped caring about likes, followers and the likes. It's defiantly easier said than done. It took a lot of hard work getting over this mindset of comparing yourself. Sure sometimes I may feel slightly envious seeing an art piece I like better than mine. Nowadays I am just more motivated to improve myself. There are a lot of small artists that are REALLY GOOD and deserve more. Getting over this thing did a lot of good. My art improved drastically, I felt more confident, I look back at some of my older pieces and sorta see the good in them, I completely changed. My motivations has changed. Went from farming likes and followers to fully exercising my passions and more motivated on self improvements. It's not an ego thing but more so a self fulfilling way. I do art simply because I enjoy it and it brings me joy. Nothing more, nothing less. Besides these spaces are too completive anyway.
I actually did saw that. And dear goodness some people were so unnecessarily dickish. Like I don’t agree with the artist but, I understand where they’re coming from. Heck I gone through that.
Tbh i just stopped posting online as a whole 🤷🏽♂️ i post on some sites but id rather keep my art to myself n occusionaly show it to small discord servers im in, my boyfriend & my friend
The key is creating mass appeal slop actually, be it nwfw or sfw, ie, the same disproportionate anatomy creature or the same pretty cutesy girl. There are only several more variations in what gets popular but that's what social media algo promotes, social media certainly never depends on quality for popularity. Trying to find engagement in the whole of internet is useless, it'll be better if you become a little more specific to a smaller community, get friends etc.
another great video! this is a huge thing Ive struggled with over the last few years as an artist who was pushed to do nsfw art starting in middle school - nsfw art is what Im arguably best at, even sfw artists tend to say so, but nowadays I find myself struggling to do more innocent artwork knowing I wont feel validated as much (internally and externally) for doing so, no matter where or who its from. P.S. I'm a big fan of bigdad, they make for a great example!
The real problem that people who make those comics and people who support them dont wanna admit is bluntly: their art isnt very good or appealing. I like booba, so of course im gonna follow the good anatomy nsfw art over sonic oc # 4578 Its a hard truth, but sex sells, and especially if you're good at drawing it. No one is gonna care off the bat about sonic oc #375 vs...lets say cutesexyrobutts and nyantcha drawing vtubers for example Also youre 14, jesus christ lol
Alot of nsfw artists tend to have very broken anatomy-im not saying youre implying this but i hate how the community implies that being a nsfw artist garantees you better anatomy cus it doesnt The reason why nsfw artists get more attention has nothing to do w them being better artists-its like the video said the way the algorithm and trending works means theyll get more eyes on their work
@@danielmendes8975 The algo definitely is a big part. No, NSFW doesn't promise you better anatomy, but if you want to make your art attractive and make number go up, then you're kinda forced to learn it since you deal with nudity and your mistakes are 10x obvious.
@@Caine187 yes you do deal with nudity when drawing nsfw art but its again not gonna do much for your art-esp since nsfw artists often only draw idealized verisons of bodies Better way to improve your art is to draw from life, im an art student & needed to draw (artistic) nud1ty for one of my classes n so improved on my art
