i noticed this in myself even, every now and then i'll notice i'm struggling to draw one of my characters so I see it as a time where I need to completely rework the character design and or my style, i improve before i realize it so i have to evolve my art style to match how i've improved. but it takes time to rework characters to better fit the way you draw aat the time so i think that's why it can be so discouraging
