Excellent, excellent overview of "How to fly your DJI FPV in manual mode". I have only flown my FPV in manual mode on the simulator and couldn't figure out why I keep crashing so easily! I come here to get the most out of my DJI products and maybe see something new. Bummer with the first FPV quad. Could have been mine easily. I skimmed the grass pretty good once ,even came back with grass stuck in the body and red prop marks on the arm. I thought of you when that happened. More simulator time. Haven’t worked up to full acro no limit just reg manual mode. Again shout out to you for the simple explanation that the FPV community can’t seem to be bothered with. I’m also reading FPV Flight Dynamics. It really explains the principles you broke down in your video and then some. ✌🏽

Excellent video and advice! I skipped the simulator and nearly lost my Avata after bouncing it off the soft ground and launching it into the sky. Also, I tightened up the wrong stick! Your explanation is the best I’ve seen. Coming from Mavics and it’s not easy to translate into FPV. Motion controller was deceptively simple. No wonder they don’t ship with controller2.

If I changed the mode/button layout to the right stick being the thrust because it feels more natural to me, when I want to make the jump to manual, can I take a spring out on the right stick?
The spring can definitely be adjusted on the right stick or the left stick, my concern is the ability to use the right stick as thrust because I'm not sure if you're allowed that custom button configuration in the software 🤷

Absolutely not true. In Manual mode - right tilt or left tilt WILL cause the drone to move that direction just like GPS modes. You can't defy physics. If any drone isn't perfectly flat or horizontal it will always move in the direction of the tilt regardless of mode. You can only minimize it by turning as fast as you can to complete a 360 roll. Absolutely same for Manual mode when tilting forward or backwards. Manual mode does NOT magically make a drone hold it's position in a tilt condition.

hello, i'm new to fpv and I want to know: im making my own firmware, for the right joystick the drone just rotates around the pitch or roll axis right, or both. so if it simply rotates by changing the motor speeds of the for example elft side higher and right side lower to go to the elft, would the drone have a pid system built in? because a pid system is for stabilizing and from what i understood an fpv drone does not seem to need a stabilizing system. clarifications?
