Yes, by default is left stick for throttle which is Mode 2. You can switch to Mode 1 in the goggles menu, making everything flip to throttle right. Then you can tighten the right side F2 fully (finger tight is fine). This would loosen the sticks till there is almost no more spring tension in your throttle. Then screw in F1 to give the desired friction that you need. Hope that helps.
Just what I'm looking for. I'm new to fpv and also more used to have the throttle on the right hand stick. So it's possible too in Manual mode / acro to have the throttle on the right hand side?

Its odd, but gets e job done 😅🤟🏽. Just remember that the friction in F1 is very dependent on user preferences. Remember that u need to bring throttle to 0 before switching ON motors, but to switch off, it doesnt matter throttle position. BUT that means drone can be switched OFF even while flying
Good evening my friend, all your videos are amazing!!!! I want to ask a question. . . should we do this and NOT fly in manual mode? If we have decided to fly only in sport mode, do we have to tighten the screws as before? Thank you very much
Sorry i missed this. PERFECTLY FINE. The only difference is that you will not have the drone easily hover in place in N and S modes. No need to re-tighten the screws. Just estimate the position of the throttle if you are in goggles. If you see that the drone is nicely hovering in place, then all good. There is quite a tolerance in the centre of the stick in N and S modes, so there is no need to be pin-point accurate to get it hovering in place. Hope this helps
Hello Rahim, I have just purchased an Avata and I plan to do indoor fly-through videos often with normal mode and horizon lock. I need to keep one constant pitch (speed) for the entire flythrough as I can always do the speed ramps in the post. I believe Throttle and Yaw are the ones I would need to keep moving. And as I am more comfortable with my right hand, I plan to switch to mode 1 so that these two, switch to the right side and then follow the steps you mentioned here to tighten the left control which in my case, would be for the Pitch. Is this right or there is something I am missing? Thanks a ton.
If I often switch flying from normal to manual mode, is it still recommended to adjust the throttle stick to not be springloaded? When it's springloaded I struggle with it when flying manual, but is the drone still nice to fly in normal or sport mode with the throttle not being springloaded?
Its not as nice definitely without spring load, but i know in N and S modes, i can afford to make late adjustments in flight. Id rather have no spring load in Manual mode as there is little tolerance for mistakes, and so ill need e best reactions on the sticks. Also if i the pilot had an emergency, i could always drop e throttle and let it crash. If it auto spings back to centre, its gonna send e drone thats still in Manual mode TO THE MOON 🤣
Hi Rahim, Appreciate your hard work. Really nice content. I am a beginner into FPV and wanted something cinematic to fly so decided to get the dji Avata fly more combo with the dji fpv controller 2. One doubt that I have, the controller has Normal, Sports and Manual. If I loosen the screws behind the controller now, then if I want to fly in normal mode can I fly or do I need to redo what I did.
Hi and thanks for watching the episodes! Hope they have sufficiently helped you get to the skies safely. You do not need to reset the screws. You can fly N and S just fine. Go ahead and give it a try. Just that now, you will need to manually bring the throttle stick back to centre EVEN while you are in goggles . Remember that in N and S modes, that stick is Altitude control. So just adjust high or low till you begin hovering, and that will be where centre is. Eventually you will not care anymore and just wanna maintain hover and ur good to go.
@@TheReelRahim Thanks alot Rahim. One more question, I also wanted a radio to use with ELRS so was confused whether I should go in for Radiomaster Zorro or Jumper T Pro. The T Pro has a 1 Watt ELRS while Zorro is locked at 250 mw.
Thanks for the video! When I switch to Manual mode I got the error “Control Stick Error”. I have already already adjusted the throttle stick to NOT have the spring to center function. How can I fix it?
You're most welcome! So about the stick error message, sorry it does not go away on its own. On each battery, u could try to recalibrate before flight. Goes away, but I got sick of doing so and just ignore it.
Great to hear. Could have been a short tutorial, but just needed everyone to understand and hope they would find their own preference in the setup for M Mode. Feel free to drop by again and ask anithing through your journey. See you in the skies!
@@TheReelRahim as someone starting a new UA-cam channel I'm finding that the biggest hurdle is actually UA-cam lol. Adobe Premier Pro is kind of a pain too. Is that the editing software you use or do you use something better (easier)?
i was eyeing the bling lol.. thanks i was able to adjust my controls for the first time.. still scurred to switch to manual but ive had it for a while and ive been practicing on liftoff with the dji blueprint download soo here goes nothing
You're most welcome, and hope your first manual flight was a good one 🤟🏽. Glad u have been practicing on the sim, as many do not know that Manual mode is a whole different beast, and going there without prior sim practice is nuts. Stay safe in the skies friend 🤟🏽
With this manual modification will the normal and sport mode be alot different to fly in or easier? Will the drone still hold its gps lock still with the modification?
Can you make a tutorial on how to get the remote back to it's default setting after I've screwed the back of it for manual flight.I mean how I can get the the screws to such a point where the sticks will go back to the center as it did right out of the box. Thank you
Actually just loosen both the screws until you do not feel resistance in the screw threads. Careful with that as you do not want to fully unscrew the grub screws until they fall out. Just enough till you get the sticks back to self-centering. Hope that helps.
Sorry I missed this. You're most welcome! Hope the journey has been smooth for you. Do feel free to ask any help anywhere in the comments and I'll respond in kind. Till then, enjoy the journey and I'll see you in the skies!
My biggest problem is that I wanna be able to switch to manual from normal/sport and then midlfight I can switch it back to Normal/sport I do not want to adjust the stick every time would it be possible that I could leave it spring loaded or maybe in between so it slowly returns back to center ? Thanks great vid
Yes u can with the original spring load, or ease it abit so its not so strong. This episode is just a guideline, and i hope u find a setting that works for u 🤙🏼
Great video! Thanks for the insights :) May I ask which flight simulator software you use? Got a quick question regarding the throttle. Was not able to really hover in the same position, after adjusting the sticks, but not too sure if its just my shaking hands, that I either give too much throttle or to way too less...
Thanks! I use Velocidrone and for easy on-the-go with my Android phone, i use this: ua-cam.com/video/9WY297mYwzs/v-deo.html About the hover in place, its likely shaky hands. Im assuming you mean hover in Manual mode. Its not easy to do so in Manual mode, as throttle is on your full control. When I try to hover, im actually making micro, VERY MICRO bleeping of the throttle to keep it in place, and gets way harder to do so if its a windy day. So no fret, it takes awhile to really hover the drone in M mode.
I've just finished setting up my RC2 on 2x O3 equipped quads. Thanks for the vid, worked perfectly. BUT, where did you get those longer sticks? I gotta have them!!
You're most welcome! I wanna get that done too! Just got the O3 but have yet to get them on a quad. Im using StartRC sticks, but cant seem to find them on AliEx anymore. Maybe you could get something similar.
@@TheReelRahim I made two extensions out of the 2mm posts I took out of one quad when I upgraded to the O3. First I made 9mm extensions as that would match the height of the big black DJI box I'm used to flying. But that seemed too tall, so I made some 6mm ones. Flew that for a while and switched back to the 9mm. The height is right, but the body of the DJI stick is smooth, I need something prickly. Amazon is the only place that has them - those are too long and I hate Amazon (they stole $277.20 from me, but that's another story.) I'll probably end up designing and making some. I'll let you know when I do. Have you had any trouble with the RC2 saying sticks out of range or some such error message? I had it pop up in goggles yesterday, rebooted everything and it went away, but I've seen others say the same and it's somehow related to the adjustments we do to make the sticks as you describe in your vid.
Sorry I missed this. Been away for awhile. So aniways if you switch to N or S modes, all you need to do is keep the throttle around the centre of the controls. No need to look at the controls, just see in the goggles. Just adjust the stick position to whether the drone is hovering in place or moving upwards or downwards. In N or S modes, the stick will not be as sensitive to input. So that means that as long as you are generally putting the stick in the centre, then the drone will hover in place. Another good way is to observe your "H" at the bottom left of the screen. Its for Height/Altitude, and is a better gauge to whether the drone is hovering at that altitude. Hope that helps.
Hi I enjoy your videos. I have been trying to make the switch to manual mode. However I’m having one issue. I adjusted my sticks as you showed. But when I go to try and fly when I throttle up and bring it back down it does not throttle down immediately and it hops across the surface. Is there something that’s not set right.
Sorry I missed this and great to hear from you again. Not too sure what you mean. Whats "hops across the surface", and have you found a solution to this yet?
You're most welcome. Thanks for watching! Tighten F2 till finger tight in order to loosen the spring tension, then add F1 as "friction" to what you are comfortable with flying. Try it out and hope it works out for you.
Fly Crash Repair Repeat. For us its a must have, but I guess its just out of comfort zone for some that have been flying drones in angle modes. I bet as they go along, they will realise that its much easier to fly acro/manual and not having to fight with the throttle stick all the time.
Hi friend! Im using a 1.5mm Hex Driver from RJX brand. Usually sold in a set of 4 sizes for RC hobbyist. If you dont want to spend on that, you could get the DJI FPV braces (assuming you have a DJI FPV), and that kit would come with a 2-in-1 hex driver (1.5mm and 2mm). Hope that helps.
@@TheReelRahim i don't have the Dji FPV. The controller 2 when purchase seperately doesn't come with any screw driver. But managed to do it with the 1.5 mm. Anyway thank you sir! All the best from us in Sepang Malaysia!
Great content as usual. Is there any benefit to loosening the right to make it more nimble with less spring tension or am I looking for trouble, Rah? I got my DJI FPV quad a few weeks ago but I'm waiting until my Avata arrives to start in acro mode even though I'm sure I could fly the FPV no problem. The Avata was my answer to indoor flying this winter instead of getting a cinelog 35 and having to deal with betaflight and all the things that don't involve actually being in the air.
We all love that we can fine-tune our drone to perfection. And that was what the DIY drones could give. But here is the thing, i have a Cinelog25 myself and i realised that when i got it, i didnt give a shit anymore. lol! All i did was throw in rates that im familiar with and sent it. BOX STOCK and it has been a year and more! didnt care for filters, fine tuning etc. Just send it! and yes, im in comfort zone with the DJI FPV and Avata. Safety features present, personal rates in and just got it up in the air. Yes i got adapters and i used DIY props on my DJI FPV, but that was pretty much it. Just to have options on props. So anyways just for clarity, im a Mode 2 pilot. I only have my throttle (left stick) loosened and nothing else. No adjustment on the right stick. Someone else did so and crashed on landing as it didnt keep the drone level since the sticks were not perfectly centered. Nothing to stop you from trying, but i wouldn't recommend it. Anyways welcome to FPV and i'll see you in the skies friend!
@@TheReelRahim makes sense about not f@cling with the right spring tension. My avata came today and damn nobody warned how long those batteries take to charge compared to the original fpv lol. I got one flight in before dark so now I’m going to rip through the house :)

I could fly in acro just fine, do my flips, rolls etc. However, as soon as I activated manual mode in-flight the goggle show a "remote controller control stick error" error message in the lower right. Hi Rahim...are you able to fly the drone in normal and sport mode with the mode 2 throttle stick in manual mode i.e. not self centering? If so, what was your experience?
Yes its possible. Its just that u need visual ques while in goggles, on whether your throttle stick is centred. For example, if i switch back to N or S mode, ill estimate to centre my left stick and make adjustment as its usually not far off. This adjustment is based on whether in goggle i see my drone is rising or descending. There is fair tolerance once the left stick switches back to being Altitude control, so no worries there. Since in FPV u are ALWAYS on the sticks, it becomes muscle memory to make adjustments when back in N or S mode. Try it in e sime 👍🏼
@@TheReelRahim Thank you Rahim. I will have to do that as my primary intention is manual mode, but I like the idea of taking off and landing in N mode; primarily to reduce wear and tear on the drone. It's been my FPV experience (analog, then digital) that the landings reduce the life span of traditional FPV drones.
AGREED. LOL! There have been soooo many minor flips that happen on landing a traditional drone. But w e DJI, its just convenient having controlled angle modes for landing. Just flip in N or S, the drone immediately goes to hover. Just adjust e altitude and u r good to go 🤟🏽
You're most welcome! The friction part is up to you to find your sweet spot. I know pilots that either fly it loose or really stiff, and thats their personal setup. So give it a try and i'll see you in the skies🤟🏽

Is this right or there is something I am missing? Thanks a ton.
Love your channel and I love your accent! I could listen to you all day
hahahahah thanks! As a fella that edits my own episodes, IM SICK OF LISTENING to myself. hahahah
Bringing up the accent was unnecessary
Thank u very much for this tutorial sir Rahim, and u got a new subscriber, cheers!🙂
thank you for sharing information friend. that was quick!
Just don’t understand why we have to loose the controller stick? What if we do not do that in manual mode?
Thanks man! Took me 1 min to do after your explanation!
Great to hear. Could have been a short tutorial, but just needed everyone to understand and hope they would find their own preference in the setup for M Mode. Feel free to drop by again and ask anithing through your journey. See you in the skies!
HD and higher resolutions are being processed. Its been 4h....just one of those days. Enjoy the episode!
i am here 5 months later and i can confirm its hd now
Lol! Thanks. Was really worried cz it took YT too long. Lesson learned, upload earlier before premier date ✌🏽
Can you please make a video on how to adjust the controlar back to the original spring load
Sorry i missed this. Did you manage to reset it? Just loosen both the screws F1 and F2 and you will be good to go.
Don’t know if you said, but what are you using to tighten the controller F1 and F2
Thank you, you explained it really well.
Sorry I missed this. You're most welcome! Hope the journey has been smooth for you. Do feel free to ask any help anywhere in the comments and I'll respond in kind. Till then, enjoy the journey and I'll see you in the skies!
Really helpful video was struggling with this. thanks a lot!
You're most welcome. Hope you find a feel for the sticks that suit you best. See you in the skies!
My biggest problem is that I wanna be able to switch to manual from normal/sport and then midlfight I can switch it back to Normal/sport
I do not want to adjust the stick every time would it be possible that I could leave it spring loaded or maybe in between so it slowly returns back to center ?
Thanks great vid
Yes u can with the original spring load, or ease it abit so its not so strong. This episode is just a guideline, and i hope u find a setting that works for u 🤙🏼
@@TheReelRahim thanks man
Great video! Thanks for the insights :) May I ask which flight simulator software you use? Got a quick question regarding the throttle. Was not able to really hover in the same position, after adjusting the sticks, but not too sure if its just my shaking hands, that I either give too much throttle or to way too less...
Thanks! I use Velocidrone and for easy on-the-go with my Android phone, i use this:
ua-cam.com/video/9WY297mYwzs/v-deo.html
About the hover in place, its likely shaky hands. Im assuming you mean hover in Manual mode. Its not easy to do so in Manual mode, as throttle is on your full control. When I try to hover, im actually making micro, VERY MICRO bleeping of the throttle to keep it in place, and gets way harder to do so if its a windy day. So no fret, it takes awhile to really hover the drone in M mode.
thank you brother do you have a video on safe landing on manual mode ?
ua-cam.com/video/gtvyRKTpzUU/v-deo.html
Here u go. REALLY try landing on grass first, or a landing pad b4 u land on concrete. ✌🏽
Thanks, perfect explanation
You're most welcome. If u run into any issues, do feel free to ask so we can help u out ✌🏽
Awesome vid , cut straight to the point !
Thanks! Hope it helps. See you in the skies!
Thank you for this clear explanation. 😀
Your most welcome! Depending on your style of flying, you may want more friction with F1. Personal preference. Fly safe!
What happen when using stabil or norrmal mode? How to hover? Keep the throttle centered or down?
@@TheReelRahim Thanks... I eventually found that out myself😅
Quick and concise tyvm!
Thanks for keeping it short!!
You're most welcome. Thanks for watching! Tighten F2 till finger tight in order to loosen the spring tension, then add F1 as "friction" to what you are comfortable with flying. Try it out and hope it works out for you.
Great video, thanks!
Its absolutely needed.. FPV since day one. No simulator..fly or die. Lol but we built our birds.. had to.. fly wreck..repair!! Lol
Fly Crash Repair Repeat. For us its a must have, but I guess its just out of comfort zone for some that have been flying drones in angle modes. I bet as they go along, they will realise that its much easier to fly acro/manual and not having to fight with the throttle stick all the time.
Okay, but now how do i get it back to normal? When i tried loosening the screws back out its not as springy as it was before
Hi sir, can I check with you what type of screw driver to use for screwing? Thank you
F1 is for how strong you need to press the joystick up
And f2 is just the spring that makes it go to the middle
Thank you my friend love your Advice it help me a lot
Glad to hear. Do spend more time in the sim. Thats going to help be more reactive in the skies. Do ask if you have any issues. ✌🏽
I used the allen tool that it come with the controller. I did abit tight the screw and the handle is almost loose but still feel a bit springload so should I do really tight the screw with the Allen tool abit harder. I wanna the handler to be really loose.
big up best video to understand quickly
Thanks mate! Hope you find your preferred feel. Take F1 as like "friction" and so add or reduce it according to preference. See you in the skies!
Perfect. Thanks brother!
Hi Rahim, what mode are you flying? Com2, com2 or com3?
Not sure about Com, but im on Mode 2, therefore throttle is on e left sticks. Kinda found it convenient to learn from others when i started out, so just stuck with it. 🤟🏽
Would this work with a different controller?
what size and type of screwdriver did you use ???
I used a 1.5mm hex driver. Hope that helps

can we make the throttle back into a stock from DJI ? by loosing the 2 screws ? can u understand ? sorry for my bad eng. answer pleass thankyouu
Yes just loosen the 2 screws
Your accent very good as indian way.
And trying to be better! Helps the captions aniways lol!
hey man...thanks for the tutorial videos....im trying to link or bind my tx16s rc to talk to my dji fpv drone....whats the best way to do it

This worked great for flying the DJI Avata in manual mode. I could fly in acro just fine, do my flips, rolls etc. However, as soon as I activated manual mode in-flight the goggle show a "remote controller control stick error" error message in the lower right. Is this something I need to live with because of the Controller mod or can I make it go away somehow? Many thanks 🙂
I did firmware updates and it went away. That should help. Sorry its been awhile since I responded. Do share here if you are still experiencing it, thanks.
@@TheReelRahim Recalibrating the controller was the solution for this in my case :-)
how can i do flips on the fpv drone. every time I try it just goes forward or backwards like if I were to push my view all the way forward or backwards
Simple and good explanation 👍🙂

Good video bro
Thanks, just helping out to those that need to get this done
Just adjust e altitude and u r good to go 🤟🏽
Thanks mate! Awesome and precise :)
You're most welcome! The friction part is up to you to find your sweet spot. I know pilots that either fly it loose or really stiff, and thats their personal setup. So give it a try and i'll see you in the skies🤟🏽
