Question can the throttle be switch to the right stick instead of the left stick and loosen the springs on the right stick instead of the left
Yes, by default is left stick for throttle which is Mode 2. You can switch to Mode 1 in the goggles menu, making everything flip to throttle right. Then you can tighten the right side F2 fully (finger tight is fine). This would loosen the sticks till there is almost no more spring tension in your throttle. Then screw in F1 to give the desired friction that you need. Hope that helps.
Just what I'm looking for. I'm new to fpv and also more used to have the throttle on the right hand stick. So it's possible too in Manual mode / acro to have the throttle on the right hand side?
yep@@Vinbenzine
@@Vinbenzine yes, as described above
@@Vinbenzine throttle on the right side? What an abomination
By far the best video on how to adjust the joystick. Was going crazy before this 👍
Tanks man, hope it works out well for you. Fly abit, and you will notice if you like the F2 to be more or less friction. More is ok for smooth flying, but i prefer less for freestyle as you will need to bleep the throttle quite often. So its a matter of preference. Just bring the tool along on the field.
agreed, even told us what MM to use, unlike all the other douche bag wastes of time , well one sir !! and thank you
Excellent Explanation, Thank you!
Bro what a life saver this video is! Only tightened F2 and thought this isn't be great to fly in manual. Cheers and fly safe!
Thanks for watching! Tighten F2 till finger tight in order to loosen the spring tension, then add F1 as "friction" to what you are comfortable with flying. Try it out and hope it works out for you.
Just don’t understand why we have to loose the controller stick? What if we do not do that in manual mode?
Fantastic video! I watched another who suggested adjusting in a different order but couldn't get it to feel right at all. Your method of shaking the stick was perfect!
Its odd, but gets e job done 😅🤟🏽. Just remember that the friction in F1 is very dependent on user preferences. Like if u wanna fly smooth, u may want more friction, but u may want looser for freestyle throttle blipping. Find a sweet spot, and it will make for an enjoyable flight experience. See u in the skies 🤟🏽
Hi, how to stoped motors from controller?
Hi, this is for Manual Mode:
1) Not Updated:
- Right side of controller, press 'Start/Stop'. Maybe need to press twice, sorry cant remember as i have updated firmware.
2) Updated to latest Firmware:
- in goggles at Contoller Settings, set 3-way switch. Of the 3 positions, 2 will be OFF, one will be ON
- I use this as its common for me as a DIY FPV pilot to use switches instead of buttons to ON/OFF motors.
Remember that u need to bring throttle to 0 before switching ON motors, but to switch off, it doesnt matter throttle position. BUT that means drone can be switched OFF even while flying
I follow the instructions on your video and its being easy to fly on manual mode but i have a question how did you get the remote controller control stick error warning off the screen?
Sorry I missed this. Glad the instructions helped u. For the error, it appears once awhile and I will go into the controller settings in the goggles and do a calibration. It will go away and I'll just repeat the process if it comes around again. Just takes a minute.
What happen when using stabil or norrmal mode? How to hover? Keep the throttle centered or down?
Sorry I missed this. Been away for awhile. So aniways if you switch to N or S modes, all you need to do is keep the throttle around the centre of the controls. No need to look at the controls, just see in the goggles. Just adjust the stick position to whether the drone is hovering in place or moving upwards or downwards. In N or S modes, the stick will not be as sensitive to input. So that means that as long as you are generally putting the stick in the centre, then the drone will hover in place. Another good way is to observe your "H" at the bottom left of the screen. Its for Height/Altitude, and is a better gauge to whether the drone is hovering at that altitude. Hope that helps.
@@TheReelRahim Thanks... I eventually found that out myself😅
Hello Rahim, I have just purchased an Avata and I plan to do indoor fly-through videos often with normal mode and horizon lock. I need to keep one constant pitch (speed) for the entire flythrough as I can always do the speed ramps in the post. I believe Throttle and Yaw are the ones I would need to keep moving. And as I am more comfortable with my right hand, I plan to switch to mode 1 so that these two, switch to the right side and then follow the steps you mentioned here to tighten the left control which in my case, would be for the Pitch. Is this right or there is something I am missing? Thanks a ton.
1.5 mm hex if you lose the one it comes with
Yup thanks!
how can i do flips on the fpv drone. every time I try it just goes forward or backwards like if I were to push my view all the way forward or backwards
Bro rahim. You still flying fpv? Your IG link is broken
F1 is for how strong you need to press the joystick up
And f2 is just the spring that makes it go to the middle
Thanks Bro Im going to fly AVATA 2 now Im so stoked ! very nice video
Wow straight forward explanation....... excellent video!
Don’t know if you said, but what are you using to tighten the controller F1 and F2
thank you for sharing information friend. that was quick!
Hello, nice video, what is the reference for your custom sticks?
Hi, Nice video, After I changed the movement on the left Stick as you demonstrated, I realized that it takes a little longer to raise up the Drone in the Air, is it Normal? or there is a way to increase the Truttle. Thanks
Hi there what king of screwdriver u use …Phillips flat
With this manual modification will the normal and sport mode be alot different to fly in or easier? Will the drone still hold its gps lock still with the modification?
I used the allen tool that it come with the controller. I did abit tight the screw and the handle is almost loose but still feel a bit springload so should I do really tight the screw with the Allen tool abit harder. I wanna the handler to be really loose.
Thank you good info! I like that you go straight to the subject and not these long intros!!!!!!!!!!
You're most welcome. I guess its subject focussed. Some topics do need a lengthy intro to get e stage right. I am guilty of 20min episodes 😅
can i lose also right stick? cus i feel like spirngs blocking me a bit in movement? RC for avata 2
Would this work with a different controller?
HD and higher resolutions are being processed. Its been 4h....just one of those days. Enjoy the episode!
i am here 5 months later and i can confirm its hd now
Lol! Thanks. Was really worried cz it took YT too long. Lesson learned, upload earlier before premier date ✌🏽
@@TheReelRahim as someone starting a new UA-cam channel I'm finding that the biggest hurdle is actually UA-cam lol. Adobe Premier Pro is kind of a pain too. Is that the editing software you use or do you use something better (easier)?
Following you from Africa 🙏🏾
Thanks and see you in the next one!
Anybody here have a controller stick error after playing with these? Thanks for the clip👍
Have u done the firmware update? DJI seems to have solved this in the update.
Had that lol
I had that error every time when switching into acro after the green line test when putting in acro mode. Little red flag says stick error only when im in acro. I had even done the stick adjustment yet and had that error everytime. Someone said an update took care of that but we will see.
Someone said that happens when you tied up the screws to much. If you loose them up a bit it should disappear
Do you need to loosen the other one (right joystick) too or does it need to stay self centered?
what size and type of screwdriver did you use ???
I used a 1.5mm hex driver. Hope that helps
@@TheReelRahim thanks man
You're most welcome.
Great video, thanks!
Thanks for the video! When I switch to Manual mode I got the error “Control Stick Error”. I have already already adjusted the throttle stick to NOT have the spring to center function. How can I fix it?
You're most welcome! So about the stick error message, sorry it does not go away on its own. On each battery, u could try to recalibrate before flight. Goes away, but I got sick of doing so and just ignore it.
My right stick is slightly off center and naturally stops slightly to the left of center. This affects my ability to fly straight because the drone is always tilting left unless I manually adjust it... do you know how to adjust the sticks back to center from their left-right orientation?
Im sorry i missed this. Did you manage to sort it out? This shouldn't be the case with the controls. Seems like there is issue with the gimbals of the controller. There is no direct adjustment to the left and right. You would need to take apart the whole controller to rectify this. Best bet is to bring it back to DJI for repairs.
To make manual mode
F2 Screw in all the way.
F1 Tighten F1 until the stick doesn't giggle too much.
Adjust to your liking.
To make into normal mode
Loosen F2
Loosen F1
Thanks for the summary mate. See you in the skies!
I have the DJI FPV and been wanting to fly in super sonic mode..lol glad I saw your video on how to change the stick control...Thanks
Sorry I missed this. You're most welcome! Hope the journey has been smooth for you. I get what you mean. For N and S modes, the speeds are so limited and only M mode will give you max pitch and top speed. Soar the skies man! Do feel free to ask any help anywhere in the comments and I'll respond in kind. Till then, enjoy the journey and I'll see you in the skies!
Hi I enjoy your videos. I have been trying to make the switch to manual mode. However I’m having one issue. I adjusted my sticks as you showed. But when I go to try and fly when I throttle up and bring it back down it does not throttle down immediately and it hops across the surface. Is there something that’s not set right.
Sorry I missed this and great to hear from you again. Not too sure what you mean. Whats "hops across the surface", and have you found a solution to this yet?
Only left side can adjust? Cannot adjust right to make it MODE 1?
You can, but you need to do it in the goggles first. Go to controller settings, there will be a setting that you can change from Mode 2 to Mode 1 or 3. After which, you can adjust the Right stick to your preference. Hope that helps.
One question. Does anyone make or have an STL file for a 3d peinted gimbal ring that allows for rubber bands after making the change to manual throttle control?
Sorry not too sure. What is it for?
If you have always flown gps drones do not adjust your stix unless you know what you are doing. It is dangerous and the chances of you crashing on takeoff increase. Practice for a while with the controller the way it comes and then make adjustments.
Agreed. Thats where getting in the sim is a must. Because loosening for manual flight also means that ome must already know the difference in controls, that only being in the sim can safely give that experience
Many many thanks for your Videos my Friend 💪🏽
You're most welcome and great to hear from you again! Thanks for watching, and do leave a comment anywhere if you have questions and Ill help as soon as I can!
@@TheReelRahim Thanks my Friend, the Videos from you is a Big help for me to learn better to Fly. I make my first two Flights in M Mode 🤗you can see on my Channel. but i fly very slow for safty and i dont want crash 😂
can we make the throttle back into a stock from DJI ? by loosing the 2 screws ? can u understand ? sorry for my bad eng. answer pleass thankyouu
Yes just loosen the 2 screws
Great video. I just got an Avata and the Controller 2. Thank you so much. This helps me a lot.
Sorry missed this. Glad it helped mate. Its fine to fully screw in F2 to release spring tension, but slowly screw in F1 till u get the desired friction.
Hi Rahim, Appreciate your hard work. Really nice content. I am a beginner into FPV and wanted something cinematic to fly so decided to get the dji Avata fly more combo with the dji fpv controller 2. One doubt that I have, the controller has Normal, Sports and Manual. If I loosen the screws behind the controller now, then if I want to fly in normal mode can I fly or do I need to redo what I did.
Hi and thanks for watching the episodes! Hope they have sufficiently helped you get to the skies safely. You do not need to reset the screws. You can fly N and S just fine. Go ahead and give it a try. Just that now, you will need to manually bring the throttle stick back to centre EVEN while you are in goggles . Remember that in N and S modes, that stick is Altitude control. So just adjust high or low till you begin hovering, and that will be where centre is. Eventually you will not care anymore and just wanna maintain hover and ur good to go.
@@TheReelRahim Thanks alot Rahim. One more question, I also wanted a radio to use with ELRS so was confused whether I should go in for Radiomaster Zorro or Jumper T Pro. The T Pro has a 1 Watt ELRS while Zorro is locked at 250 mw.
The question i have is my calibration error wont go away no matter how many times i calibrate them. I tried adjusting as you recommend here but still nothing gets rid of that error. I'm fully updated
Im sorry mate, I too keep getting that error once in a while, so I either keep calibrating at every battery change, or ignore it altogether.
How do you switch it back so you can fly normal and sport with the controller?
I got it working again, had to recalibrate the controller for it to work again :D
Can you make a tutorial on how to get the remote back to it's default setting after I've screwed the back of it for manual flight.I mean how I can get the the screws to such a point where the sticks will go back to the center as it did right out of the box. Thank you
Actually just loosen both the screws until you do not feel resistance in the screw threads. Careful with that as you do not want to fully unscrew the grub screws until they fall out. Just enough till you get the sticks back to self-centering. Hope that helps.
So i followed the guide but now if i go into calibration it doesn't detect trottle up and down anymore, meaning it doesn't start when holding both joystick down and inwards.
Sorry missed this. What mode are you in to start the motors? It should detect fine if you are in N and S modes, but in M mode you have to start the motors via switch.
Can you please make a video on how to adjust the controlar back to the original spring load
Sorry i missed this. Did you manage to reset it? Just loosen both the screws F1 and F2 and you will be good to go.
I've done all that but it doesn't work! :( I just want to practice on the simulator
Sorry I missed this. Did you manage to find a solution? This episode might help:

If I often switch flying from normal to manual mode, is it still recommended to adjust the throttle stick to not be springloaded? When it's springloaded I struggle with it when flying manual, but is the drone still nice to fly in normal or sport mode with the throttle not being springloaded?
Its not as nice definitely without spring load, but i know in N and S modes, i can afford to make late adjustments in flight. Id rather have no spring load in Manual mode as there is little tolerance for mistakes, and so ill need e best reactions on the sticks. Also if i the pilot had an emergency, i could always drop e throttle and let it crash. If it auto spings back to centre, its gonna send e drone thats still in Manual mode TO THE MOON 🤣
Great explanation! Love when it is concise and not too much info. I just got my DJI FPV and am so excited. I will be releasing a video soon!
Have a safe flight friend 🤟🏽. Take your time, there is no need to rush into Manual mode. Binge on my DJI FPV episodes, and hope they help if u r new to FPV 🙏🏼
How should I tighten my sticks for the best flight? My right stick controls throttle and yaw. Left stick controls pitch and roll. I currently have recentering disabled on both, and left stick slightly looser than right.
Oh man, thats something for my head to get around. 😅. So likely u are Mode 1 pilot. I cant really say how much, coz its more of pilot needs. Like for me (Mode 2, throttle left), i need my throttle without any spring tension (fully tighten F2), but i need some friction resistance (add F1). And i will add or reduce depending on how i feel the controls are working with me in flights. So advice is, the sweet spot for me is enough resistance for the whole throttle range, but not too much that it gets difficult and tiring when i do throttle bleeps. Maybe this could be your guideline. Hope that helps
@@TheReelRahim Thanks so much, that does help a lot. Only thing I'm wondering now is: How do you have the other stick set (not the throttle stick but the other one), and what does moving that stick side to side control--yaw or roll?
Glad it helped ✌🏽. For clarity in MANUAL Mode :
Left stick
Up/down - Throttle
Left/right - Yaw
Right stick
Up/down - Pitch
Left/Right - Roll
Yours?
thank you so much, I crashed my avata having my throttle too tight
Sorry I missed this. Hope the journey has been smooth for you, and you're most welcome. Sorry to hear that you crashed. Did it need repairs? Hope you are back in the skies.
Thanks man - helpful
You're most welcome! More episodes coming. Till then, see u in the next one 🤟🏽
Why do you content creators insist on this annoying backing music, it's sooooo annoying!?
Preferences. Tried not having music. Too boring. So sticking with having music.
And left stick ? It has to return at the center automatically?
Sorry I missed this. This adjustment is for the left stick only. Let the right stick return to center automatically.
What’s the size of tool ? I’m trying some but they don’t fit.
Im using a 1.5mm hex driver. I think an allen key of this size is included in the DJI FPV box.
Good video bro
Thanks, just helping out to those that need to get this done
TY!
My biggest problem is that I wanna be able to switch to manual from normal/sport and then midlfight I can switch it back to Normal/sport
I do not want to adjust the stick every time would it be possible that I could leave it spring loaded or maybe in between so it slowly returns back to center ?
Thanks great vid
Yes u can with the original spring load, or ease it abit so its not so strong. This episode is just a guideline, and i hope u find a setting that works for u 🤙🏼
@@TheReelRahim thanks man
Hey brother, thank you for these helpful videos. You have a couple of videos that others have not covered much about this FPV system. Thank you!!
You're most welcome. I realised that, but i also foresee that this will still be the only COMPLETE KIT out there that can help everyone get into FPV. And so theres my investment, and i hope to get more into FPV. Im sure many will grow and get into DIY eventually. That all good news 👍🏼👏🏼
nice
If I set it up for manual then can I still fly in normal and sports mode?
Yes you can. Its just that when you switch back on the controls to N and S modes, it wont hover easy and you will need to bring the Altitude control stick back to centre. Not difficult, just observe when in goggles. Look at your current altitude and adjust till you are hovering in place and you are good to go.
Very helpful, I’m not flying manual mode yet but wanted to add a little more Trenton our resistance to my controller. Thank you again
Im actually very glad to hear. As most just want to adjust for Manual mode, but yes one should also tune the tension for personal preference. Fly safe!
My avata doesn’t start and gives me a throttle stick error message. This came up before and after I adjusted the F 1 and 2 screws and I calibrated it both times. Is there something missing? I had updated the controller already and I don’t see any updates left
What methods are you using to start the motors, and in which Mode? N, S or M?
@@TheReelRahim well I just noticed but it does start the motors on all modes. But I’m still getting a throttle stick error message even after updating and calibrating the drone and accessories. I’m in the middle of contacting DJI support about it but no solution yet… if you know anything I would greatly appreciate it
Nice share,, thanks Bro !
You're most welcome! Just finger tight the F2, but for F1 adjust till u feel that the "friction" is enough for you to fly with. Stay safe and see you in the skies!
Hey, interested in HQ Prop for Avata ?
Hey glad to hear from you! Would be glad to have this opportunity, but could we chat through mail? Contact info is in my channel's "about". Cant state here as may be marked as spam.
Your accent very good as indian way.
And trying to be better! Helps the captions aniways lol!
Can you still fly normal mode with no tension in the throttle stick?
Yes u can. In goggle view, just estimate the middle point of the stick for hovering. Its easy, just give it a try ✌🏽
@@TheReelRahim Awesome, thanks for responding
What about the other stick? Do I need to adjust it too?
No there is no need. Maybe for different tension feel, but no real need. I dont. Just the throttle stick will do. Hope that helps.
Hanya ejas di BAHAGIAN kiri saja ke? Sebelah kanan tak perlu?
Yep, kiri aje. Kanan boleh biarkan aje.
@@TheReelRahim baik, tme ksih tuan
CAN i USE IT LIKE THAT ALSO WITH THE MODE n AND s?
Yes you can. When you switch to N or S mode, the Throttle will be switched back to Altitude Control. Since the stick is loosened, drone will hover but not be able to automatically keep the same altitude, since the stick cannot self centre. While you are flying and wearing goggles, just estimate the middle position of the Altitude Control stick on the Remote Controller. You can see in the goggles if the drone is staying in position, or it is going up or down.
Thank u very much for this tutorial sir Rahim, and u got a new subscriber, cheers!🙂
Hi sir, can I check with you what type of screw driver to use for screwing? Thank you
Hi friend! Im using a 1.5mm Hex Driver from RJX brand. Usually sold in a set of 4 sizes for RC hobbyist. If you dont want to spend on that, you could get the DJI FPV braces (assuming you have a DJI FPV), and that kit would come with a 2-in-1 hex driver (1.5mm and 2mm). Hope that helps.
@@TheReelRahim i don't have the Dji FPV. The controller 2 when purchase seperately doesn't come with any screw driver. But managed to do it with the 1.5 mm. Anyway thank you sir! All the best from us in Sepang Malaysia!

This was really useful to me in 2024, thank you for the video.
Great video! I just did this on my Controller 3 because I forgot how I did it on my Controller 2 a few years ago lol
Thank you. Superb! Greetings from Czech republic.
So you do or don't a just both sticks?
Sorry i use e term sticks loosely. I meant that id adjust the throttle stick (Left stick if on Mode 2). Id leave the Pitch and Roll (Right Stick for Mode 2) alone, as i feel e setting is about right.
Thanks fot this! I was using it in Liftoff Simulator and couldnt not understand why it was zipping straight up 😂😂
Thanks, perfect explanation
You're most welcome. If u run into any issues, do feel free to ask so we can help u out ✌🏽
Good day, how can I return back spring resistance
Actually just loosen both the screws until you do not feel resistance in the screw threads. Careful with that as you do not want to fully unscrew the grub screws until they fall out. Just enough till you get the sticks back to self-centering. Hope that helps. Good day to you too, and fly safe!
Thank you, got it, and another question: my RC in calibration mode working good, but in real flight and demo mode it’s not starting the motors when I moved both sticks 45* in
Thank you again
Can the controller 2 be used in mode 1? (Throttle on the right)
Yes you can! Just change it in the settings of the goggles to Mode 1, and adjust the screws following the same procedures.
@@TheReelRahim thank you.
Thanks bro

what keyboard is that?😁
Hahahah. just a skin. Useful shortcuts overlay for editing in FCPX. Would be lost without them.✌🏽
Can this be done for mode 1? I.e. throttle and yaw on the other side.
Yes it will work just the same. Tighten F2 till finger tight to loosen the spring tension, then add F1 as "friction" to what you are comfortable with flying. Try it out and hope it works out for you.
@@TheReelRahim thank you
What tool is he using?
Hi im using a 1.5mm hex driver. You could look into brands like RJX or Injora on Banggood. Usually comes in a set of 4 sizes.
What size is the screw?
U will need a 1.5mm hex driver.
thanks mate seriously helpful... been shittin me for ages
now can u get my damn geprc mk5 o3 to arm haha driving me mad
You're most welcome!
Oh damn u got the Mk5. Been thinking about upgrading to this, but the Mk4 still serving me well. But would be nice to get on board the new o3 eco system. Hopefully soon. Got the o3 but as a standalone. may just build it into the Mk4
This is crazy but im flying in manual mode much better not tightening the screws...just leaving them as is with the springs is there anyone out there thats having or had that same experience? lol im learning fast but again ive just been more comfortable leaving the springs as is.
Its all preference. I have flown with both and as a pilot that started off in DIY FPV, its just better for me as i dont have to fight with the sticks while throttling. But if it works for you, then stick with it🤟🏽

@@TheReelRahim My pleasure brother.
Thanks, so what happens when you put the throttle all the way down when the drone is air bourn doe it kill throttle completely :)
Great qn and thanks for bringing it up. Actually, you would have zero throttle input from transmitter. ZERO is the key word here. Th drone receives a zero command, but internally within the drone, the programming will still have motors spinning. This is the PID tuning working as it will maintain the attitude of the drone in flight even when throttle is 0. Similar to a car off throttle will coast. If the drone propellers is allowed to stop, it would tumble in the air, and may not be able to stabilise itself back. Hope that simply explains it.
@@TheReelRahim Exactly what i thought should happen as this is how i setup build racing drones :) i just didn't know if DJI did the same thing, im, considering one of them.
@@TheReelRahim So if you switch to normal mode do you have to centre the throttle stick for GPS hover? :) im guessing yeah.
Great content as usual. Is there any benefit to loosening the right to make it more nimble with less spring tension or am I looking for trouble, Rah? I got my DJI FPV quad a few weeks ago but I'm waiting until my Avata arrives to start in acro mode even though I'm sure I could fly the FPV no problem. The Avata was my answer to indoor flying this winter instead of getting a cinelog 35 and having to deal with betaflight and all the things that don't involve actually being in the air.
We all love that we can fine-tune our drone to perfection. And that was what the DIY drones could give. But here is the thing, i have a Cinelog25 myself and i realised that when i got it, i didnt give a shit anymore. lol! All i did was throw in rates that im familiar with and sent it. BOX STOCK and it has been a year and more! didnt care for filters, fine tuning etc. Just send it! and yes, im in comfort zone with the DJI FPV and Avata. Safety features present, personal rates in and just got it up in the air. Yes i got adapters and i used DIY props on my DJI FPV, but that was pretty much it. Just to have options on props. So anyways just for clarity, im a Mode 2 pilot. I only have my throttle (left stick) loosened and nothing else. No adjustment on the right stick. Someone else did so and crashed on landing as it didnt keep the drone level since the sticks were not perfectly centered. Nothing to stop you from trying, but i wouldn't recommend it. Anyways welcome to FPV and i'll see you in the skies friend!
@@TheReelRahim makes sense about not f@cling with the right spring tension. My avata came today and damn nobody warned how long those batteries take to charge compared to the original fpv lol. I got one flight in before dark so now I’m going to rip through the house :)
What camera u using
Im using a Canon 90D DSLR for the overall shot and a Gopro Hero 7 for the closeup. Im loving it for the flip touch screen and continuous autofocus tracking. If this broke and I needed to get a replacement, an 80D would do the job just fine, AND CHEAPER. But its the lens that is the winner here. Sigma 18-35 f1.8. Its just GOLD. Sharp, great bokeh and colours! But IT IS HEAVY. Many videographers use it for cinematic scenes.
Thank you for a simple and clear explanation! This really helped me.
Thanks a million!
