- The flight performance for Cinematics with this kit is insane! Plus it looks so cool!
I suggest cropping the image if you're not flying with a GoPro because there is some vignetting at the edges with the protector on in the final stabilized image. Also when it's really hot the image can get light flares at times, probably from the curved plastic design.

I like the color set you chose to put on the drone. Very reminiscent of the Gulf Oil livery of the 1960's - Ford used it a lot and it is Uber-classy for the FPV.
...and it looks like another traffic slowdown on the Van Wyck Expressway as people seem to be rubber-necking at some guy with a really sexy drone. Suggest Grand Central Parkway as an alternate...again.
Dude.. for the "vertical fins" to have a noticeable effect, they would have to be like 3 times bigger. I would bet you anything, if you threw that quad in a Aerodynamic simulator, there would be almost zero difference between the two. Also, the shape of the quad body is a teardrop which is naturally a stable shape.. this is a total joke. Also, alot of the "stabilization" you were feeling low to the ground was just the camera protector completing the tear drop shape

I thing their is a little bit of effect on his yaw, but like gliding. Nope. That’s the prop spinning from falling which is making the drone a lil bit feeling like gliding. But I like it still, I’ll get me one for my djiFPV (looks cooler anyways)😁😉

You are saying that a vertical stabilizer helps hold altitude. let that sink in for a moment

It’s not only the wings, the gimbal guard also improves the aerodynamics. The air flows under and over the drone. Without the gimbal guard, the air is just hitting the front of the drone causing drag.
The verticals fins still aid the flight , not as u think tho

Curious …without that lens shield do you still get better glide ratio? The tail fins confuse me because they would theoretically affect the yaw and not pitch of the craft but I guess with the airflow over the arms as well…I dunno. Wanna try it for sure.

I’ve been an experienced phantom pilot for the last seven years I took the plunge and I bought my rig the FPV it’s been raining all week so I haven’t been able to fly the actual drone I’ve been running simulator on normal and sport mode
Love your channel man.. very entertaining. LOL.. I purchased the small rig kit, installed and love the twin vertical stabilizers. Gives the drone an aggressive stance. May even assist in flight stability. The clear front shield may be a problem depending on your locations climate. The open area around the camera allows air to enter the drone and circulate air into the fan located at the top of the drone under the plastic housing. This keeps your chips cool and also allows air to flow out the back of the drone to then cool your ESC vents on the back. The opening above the camera which looks like air vents are not functional and are not open. If it were open, it would allow air to bypass the clear canopy from smallrig and enter the drone. I live in Vegas where it's 110 degrees during the summer and 90 degrees at night so I need as much air flow as possible to keep the drone somewhat cool. However, I do like how it looks. You should buy the motor adapters that allow you to use any 5" prop. I love trying different props and seeing how it affects the performance of my DJI FPV Drone.
I live in El Paso tx and I had a motor fail and take an arm with it. Due to esc overheat while using it with an insta 360. I did a vid. Although it only cost me $50 to repair it could have gone much worse. So I don't recommend it for high altitudes and deserts
@@SgtJamesRay Good advise. I recently took a spill/crashed due to a prop blade breaking off mid flight. Never had that happen before. Not sure what caused that. Could have been an air bubble in the injection mold of the prop or some one shot it down with a BB or Pellet gun. Odd, been flying with the same prop for 2 months then that happened. Broke 3 arms, cracked the top shell which broke the cooling fan and the metal shield covering the fan. Cost me about $100 or so to repair. I’m back up again with my fingers crossed…😬
Hey man, you're right. That's incredible that the air vent isn't real, I did not know. How did you find out? I mean it's probably for a reason, maybe still due to aerodynamics bc it would maybe force the air stream in the wrong direction if it would really go through the top vent instead through the backside of the camera, still thx for your tip.

I wonder if it causes Drag when the drone turns or goes on the side while flying. I painted mines. It looks like a military drone. It looks hot. I believe it is causing drag because it glides with them on.
Its awesome to see you so happy with your DJI FPV. Your first few videos you were so afraid to crash it and seemed pretty down when you did smash it. Now look at you! lol
the protective lense cover has major distortion on the sides. did you test the drone with only the wings? I'm considering getting it. thanks.

I have not tried the wings alone however if you're doing 4K 60 you can crop a bit to remove or ease out the distortion.

how many grams can lift the dji fpv? I have a go pro max (163grams), I want to use the 360 mode (GoPro max) in sport mode (dji fpv). By the way can you do a video tutorial cleaning drones. I fly in the beach and only use duster and microfiber. Did you have another tips. Sorry 4 my English is no so good, and thanks 4 your videos a learn a lot. 👍🏼

I'm wondering cause I just bought 1 flew it 3 weeks and it crashed itself so I ordered a replacement but I'm now hesitant, thinking if I should just never open it and send it back.

Off the subject have you updated EVO 2 PRO firmware and software on the controller, It seem the drone flies a little more stable.
I do have the beta firmware, I'll be updating to the final release this weekend.
I hope it does fly better.

Been running the current stable on mine, been amazing. I'm waiting to post footage after my part 107 exam (for the nosy ones, lol).
Love the video, but this SmallRig Kit is 100% junk!!! The fin mounts are brittle and crack after a few flights. The clear camera protector doesn't stay secure when flying in manual mode, and it give glare that shows up in videos. Then the stickers that really don't stick. I took mine off as I didn't want one to fly off into a prop. The camera mount is ok, but that's the only I use and I paid $50 for it. Trash product. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

I tend to get about 11min flying easy. and about 8 - 10 chasing (full speed almost the whole time)
Question... how much battery time does the weight of a GOPRO take up?

normal flight time of the FPV is about 20 min so i am guessing it could be cut in half, maybe a little less when adding a GOPRO
I put a go pro on my DJI fpv and the added weight was too much for the drone. It literally got the motor so hot They melted right out of the craft and my drone dropped like a rock so if you going to add a cam make sure it’s lite

Would the tail fins put resistance when you bank hard? I would think they would help to keep it straight but turning would be a problem
Use potholders to snap rear tail fins into place or simply wear gloves

Even if it peals, it would start to peel slowly and you would notice it.
It wouldn't just peel right off and fly off.

I'm thinking it may have been discontinued (lens cover) for one reason that it interferes with airflow cooling required by the craft and second camera distortion on the edges. The fins were just a cool look factor that offered zero in terms of aerodynamics.

Filters don't fit with the front cover on, for some reason filter companies made the ND filters very wide 🤷
The arms of the DJI FPV are technically wings somehow and already provide some lift. The vertical fins might prevent some pressure equalization between the upper and down side of the rear arms and make them more effective as a wing. That's the only explanation I can imagine.
Hold my beer while I do this with my standard FPV.

Hey buddy, have you ever heard of the eachine novice 4 fpv drone? I just purchased it to dip my toes into fpv I own a mavic Air 2 and a spark both from DJI and a couple cheap drones my question is when flying fpv should I fly without goggles at first or jump right in with goggles it’s tough with goggles
That's a tough question, I know a lot of people can fly without goggles but me, I can't fly without goggles because I've never done it before.
Basically we will get good at what we practice at and if we practice without goggles we will get good without goggles but if you practice with the goggles you'll get good with the goggles without goggles you can't go very far and it's very difficult to tell which direction the Drone is pointing in so take that into consideration.
I've never heard of that type of drone, why did you go with that one? 🤔

I was going to buy a DJI FPV drone and fly more kit following your link since you clearly state "TAX FREE AND FREE SHIPPING", however, that is not the case. From following the link in your description they were charging full NJ state tax.

Those, “wings” don’t help anything whatsoever. As a matter fact… it makes flying less aerodynamic, and ads unneeded weight. Especially when you’re flying sideways.

Wow man you have improved so much flying that I got one for my birthday and I have been flying also for quite a while I just took my class and I passed the class and now I don't have to do around October is take my 107 so I got my certificate from the class already been finding more or less like about 14 years give and take

Anyways I just upgraded to the air 2s and I love it but i do wanna get into some fpv. whats your hones thoughts on buying the dji fpv for a first time fpv flyer? Is it easy to get the hang of with the simulator but still pretty easy to crash? im torn between a cinewhoop and the dji fpv. not really into acro so i think those 2 types of drones are gonna be the best choices for me! i know u are probably a busy man but any feedback at all is greatly appreciated! Would you be interested in reviewing a DJIFPV auxiliary light reflector? It mounts under the drone to reflect the auxiliary light forward to see in the dark.
can the aux light be turned off and on during flight. I noticed mine only comes on when about 15' off the ground and appears to be used for landing. Would be great to be able to turn it on at will to locate drone in the sky.
@@waltw918 yes, the remote can be set up to activate auxiliary LED with a push of a button

I did a vid on my kit. It does not work everywhere. You should see it. I don't think it's good for every altitude above sea level. But I still love the vid and my new fins!
Or buy a cinewhoop that does the same thing at half the price of this "quad".. and doesn't break on twigs.
