There is a cut song from The Lorax called _"Biggering"_ which the song actually stayed faithful to the original book's message. It's like _"How Bad Can It Be?"_ but more like a dramatic rock opera than an upbeat pop music. The story of the Lorax is maybe about raising the environmental awareness, but it's also a cautionary tale of corporate greed.
I'm so sad none of them seemed to know about the rampant selfcest that went on through the Lorax fandom. Tumblr was full of teenage girls shipping Onceler with himself. My brain, finishing that sentence for me: "Say that again, I'll break your fucking knees."
The moment you start to realize that they made Ted only want to learn about trees, simply because he was a literal SIMP. This dude is literally Milhouse trying to make a move on Lisa. Tell me he's not the person who would say, "I'm very passionate about the planet!" to Audrey only to be caught, sucker punched, and told, "That's for selling out your beliefs!".
You’d be surprised how popular teenage onceler was..
They turned the Onceler into an emo band member.💀
Truuuuu
He literally looks like Ryan Ross in the 2000s
And I love him for it
If anyone is curious:
Ted is 12 and Audrey is 15, Once-ler is 20s in flashbacks and roughly 50 in modern day
I'm in genuine disbelief adam doesn't know how INSANE the memes and the onceler obsessive fandom were for this movie were. I've literally never even seen this movie and I know everything about it somehow through osmosis. You couldn't escape it, it was like Brony level honestly. It's probably one of the most infamous well known fanbases of all time on the internet.
Was this some sort of little kid thing? Like, I'm a zoomer, yet I don't remember seeing any Lorax memes (or at least more than usual).
Nah it's pretty old, early tumblr/deviantart era.@@eamk887
"Was there a separate twitter for 14 year olds?" Yes. It was tumblr and when this movie came out, it became a lawless land. The Onecler was where the term Tumblr Sexy Man was coined.
So many quotes from this movie are stuck in my brain; the deliveries of them make this movie so fun for me, even if it really sucks!
Yo this has been a crazy stressful week for me, but your uploads are always something i look forward too.
I watch these guys when depression has me in the throes of self pity 😂 the spilling the milk boys turn my tears into giggles without fail every time and make it one more day I can get through
I remember when I first watched this movie as a 9 year old, that I cried at the end when the old man hugged the lorax.
Weird times
I went back and watched the original cut of "Biggering" as well as the original 70s short, and gosh, they do it in different ways, but they get the point of the story across much better.
The 70s cartoon had the guts to end with it hanging - that things are really bad - so what are we going to do about it?
By giving this story a happy ending with a single bad guy, it means everyone can walk out of the movie feeling good about themselves, and not think about the message that Illumination tried to bury.
2:34 guilty as charged 🤭
14:27 “The Lorax died for our sins”- Best line of 2023😂
“is there a separate twitter for 14 year olds” THAT IS TUMBLR
this movie is so popular among highschool kids, the entire class would literally bond watching the lorax in class whenever a teacher put it on, whether theyre enemies or not
0:53 DANNY DEVITO'S THE KID???? 😨😨😨
Love how yms actually did a pretty good review but still made it funny with you guys
now we need a video of you guys showing YMS all the lorax memes lmao 😂
5:32 “Like, if I went into nature and I saw, like, the fish start singing to me like that, like, I would be like: ‘Burn 'it down. Burn 'it *all* down!’” 😂
This truly is an ironic masterpice.
Well a very cheesy masterpiece to be exact
it's insane how the only person in the cast who is an actual pop singer doesn't sing ANY solo lines
"Why is he so pretty?" Tumblr is knocking at your door
I almost felt called out at 2:13 because I have a thing for significant height differences with the girl being the taller one, but then I realized it was a foot fetish joke and felt relieved because I'm not into feet.
19:25 what a great way to end and to make enemies. thank you sm guys awesome video
8:32 "Boat" 🛏️
This movie will never leave my mind and it kinda scares me
No, really, at my old bad small private school, me and a few friends would hide from bullies and would watch the Lorax while eating popcorn on our tiny lunch break for two weeks. Best two weeks ever. We love watching bad movies together, sometimes it was just two of us... snuggling.. and then we moved on to Transformers Rescue Bots. It was a rough school year.
YMS AND SPILLING THE MILK COLLAB LETS GOOOOO
I love the "one slur"
The funniest bit is that Corporations would privatize air if they could.
"was there a separate Twitter for 14 year Olds that this was big on?" yes it was called Tumblr lmfaooo
Honestly, I would love them to react to original short adaptation, it is so much better.
And it had a rather deep message that the film had trouble telling us
@@Mr.Feather130 The Biggering is single best song made for this movie and it was cut. Honestly, I wouldn't even blame creators of the movie, considering they did want something more with book.
2:58 not the alarm sound akfjahsjfk why did I literally get war flashbacks
The collab that everyone needed
My favourite meme is “I am the Lorax, I speak for the trees, but why are they speaking Vietnamese” 🤣🤣
fun fact this movie was supposed to have an amazing song called “the biggering” when the movie was darker but it was never used sadly :(
"was there a seperate twitter for 14 year olds this was big on" yeah actually 😭tumblr and amino LOVED this movie
YMS and you guys. I never expected this.
I find it halarious when he says "I dont know, I wasn't looking" Implys that he was looking for the Oncler but not the lorax
YMS? Most random crossover but I’m all here for it
Truly one of Dr Seuss’ greatest directing pieces ever
In 5th grade whenever we'd have inside recess or any free time (say after standardized testing) we would watch this movie over and over again. I saw it probably 20 times in one school year
I'm still upset that they had Zac Efron (Ted) and Taylor Swift (Audrey) in a musical movie and not have them sing. Although Ted did sing in the original/demo versions. Audrey didnt exist.
I never knew i needed a spilling the milk x YMS crossover
“danny devito’s the kid???”
Hardest ive laughed in a long time.
Any veterans from the initial Once-ler fandom on tumblr here? 2012/2013? Witnesses to the rise of Oncest?
Because I saw it.
I was there.
I was in it.
I can never forget.
I’ve been on tumblr since 2010. So I was there pre oncest.
