oh there was gonna be more-
I feel so bad for her-
It's so disgusting how you go to an emergency room and have to sit there in pain for 2 hours until a doctor looks at you and in 10 seconds realizes you need an Epipen.
And cost 500 bucks
The American healthcare system
@@AWB721 Literally no matter how understaffed you are, somebody with the most basic medical knowledge should be walking around the hall to see what's wrong with people waiting at a fucking emergency room. I'd expect that even in a 3rd world country.
It simply has to be something to do with liability or bureaucracy why they don't do that. I guess you need to just call an ambulance if you want somebody to actually help you.
That might be true for you Americans. I live in Poland, and hear the healthcare is pretty good. my dad’s a doctor and believe me if they’re busy there’s nothing they can do I mean it costs so much to get a bigger hospital, more doctors, etc. It’s also not fair what you’re saying because it’s not as easy as it looks like. To be a doctor you have to go through years of medical school and then you do you still have to learn new things because medicine kind of never ends. They need to get the antidotes that cost way more and there’s so many more things that they need to do to actually help you so I mean. I also need to run tests on you to see what’s wrong with you because I mean if you get hives, there’s literally so many possibilities of what could be wrong with you. So they need to run tests they need to to figure out what they need to give you so it’s kind of a long process it’s really not easy. Its not in 10 seconds btw. I hope this helps you understand what being a doctor is like
@@S0L4R_3CL1PS3 Did you watch the video? She said the doctor looked at her for 10 seconds or something like that and gave her an Epipen.
This isn't about running complicated tests and medical procedures, it's about somebody waiting in an EMERGENCY ROOM for 2 hours before anybody even took a look at them.
Your argument that it could have been anything so they had to run 50 different tests and scans before providing any treatment falls apart completely when you consider that the doctor immediately knew what to give her and it alleviated her pain almost instantaneously.
It's not about lack of access to medicine either since you can buy Epipens at any pharmacy and they probably had thousands at that hospital.
You're focusing on tangential topics and completely ignoring the problem which is nobody properly assessing the patients when they come in before telling them to sit and wait for 2 hours during which time they could be getting worse or die.
"It's amazing how absolutely torturous this pain is right now, and I haven't even been stabbed!"
This. Line. I have chronic pain issues, and whenever I get to that point or the "time to cry now" level of pain, I return to this video. Just being able to relate so strongly, and laugh, it helps so much. Sadly no miracle epi-pen for me, I get the 'muffled' pain version, but still. Sharing in my suffering for even a short while helps make it more bearable. Thank you for getting hives, Jaiden.
i have never heard anybody say "thank you for getting [idk disease or smt]"
but i feel you man
Heyo, my family also has this level of chronic pain sometimes, and I always feel so bad for them, and I feel bad for you too. I don't know you, but you're pretty cool to go through all that, and I wish I could beat your pain up for you. I hope you feel better soon, or barring that, I hope you find a ton of other stuff to help you smile or laugh!
(I recently discovered a channel called Natural Habitat Shorts that's little animated skits based on animal facts and it made full on laugh aloud even just watching them by myself, so hopefully that might help you feel a little better at least emotionally. Take care!)
Mine is more mild but also psychological so it gets worse when I'm stressed
It's terrible and every time it happens I feel like dyeing

BIO FREEZE. if they don’t give u epi pens for me it helped calm down the itching but i did start shaking bc of how cold i was haha
Update:
Thanks for the suggestion! I went to the ER because it spread all over my body and I was crying like crazy. They gave me some steroids and Benadryl to take for 5 days. It somehow worked but I felt so groggy the whole week. 🥹
I remember watching this video when it first came out and thinking, "man do I appreciate my wonderful immune system for being such a pal and never putting me through this."
And now I got hives.
(Edit: I would also like it to be known that, if you do not have benadryl on hand and it's the middle of the night when you break out into hives, NyQuil is also an antihistamine that works pretty well)
They just gave me antiallergic tab that works for few hours but it never went away, I get them every winter
Always carry Benadryl it is a life saver, I have so many allergies and I hate hives cause they are the worst I occasionally have them after showers not as bad as before I mostly use lotion but it can also be sensitive skin but yea Benadryl helps the most but it’ll also make you fall asleep so be somewhat aware of that
Oh man, this happened to me, but it lasted over a year before I got it into remission. I went to the ER one night and the doctor actually asked to take a photo of my back to show his colleagues, because he'd never seen anything quite that bad. They gave me a Benadryl IV that helped. I finally got rid of the flare ups by an extreme diet change and reducing stress. It sucks when your immune system turns on you.
“The good thing is, I was feeling better.”

I got hives earlier this year (2023) around march. We went to florida and I got the first ones.(I thought there were bedbugs actually.) The night before leaving Florida, I woke up and was scratching so much i made myself bleed. They gave me that shot at the emergency room, but it only helped for a day. I went to the hospital one other time in my hometown(same shot). If they weren't visibly out, I could still feel the hives under my skin, which was awful. I was in tears and found ice packs helped.
That went on for 8 MONTHS. Between doctors and tests and diets and meds, it was torture. (also i had steroids too) We still haven't found out the reason, and it's been about a month or two since they've cleared.
Also unrelated but I have a dye allergy, but have never had to use an epi pen(always had other meds on hand) but now I want to just to feel that epi pen. Though I think mine's expired so...death?
I am so sorry for your hives. I know what it's like. I don't actually have hives, but I have eczema and IT SUCKS!!! I'm talking about really bad eczema I have to suffer through ever since I was three years old. My Eczema was like the worst recently, but ever since I've taken Rinvoq I've been feeling much better. I still do get itchy attacks on my face though.
I have a bunch of environmental allergies so its pretty common for me to get little patches of hives in a day but I’ve never dealt with hives as bad as you got that. Good on you for getting through that.

I've gotten stress hives too! I'd just gone through 3 big life events in the span of a month ( financed my first car with my own monies, about to move out of my parent's place, about to elope with my now husband ) and one night I stepped outta the shower to see lil prickly bumps on my chest and tum. Woke up the next morning and they were EVERYWHERE. I was so panicked because my fiancee was returning from deployment soon and I had too much to do to be sick. Thankfully our local hospital had a nurse hotline one could call to talk to an actual heckin nurse. She asks a few key questions over the phone, rules out all the more common causes, asks if life has been particularly hectic lately and after a moment of thought I bust out laughing like a nutter whilst putting the sentance "Well yeah I just bought my first car, I'm getting married, and I'm moving out" without sounding *absurdly overworked.* the nurse laughed too once I put my words together, and said "Yeah, that's probably it. But here's the signs to watch out for..." and told me if it hurts or I have any trouble breathing go straight to the ER.
I met with a friend for coffee and sandwiches, then went to her place to burn a couple episodes of a show, had a good laugh at how hard I always push myself, and things cleared up in two days without intervention.

I’ve never had a full on hives outbreak before, but there were two incidents:
First, I used to own pet rats for about a year and was obsessed with them, and we kept their cage in my room so I would regularly take them out to play. Then when holding one of the rats, my hands started to randomly well up and by the time we got it treated, my hands were coated in white hives and a complete red mess. It eventually went away and left no scars, which my mom is still impressed my hands weren’t scarred with how bad it was. I barely remember it, but I do remember looking at my pizza hands as a completely calm 9 year old (I think) lol.
Second, one time my mom couldn’t find the regular detergent we use for our clothes, so she grabbed a different brand like ‘what could go wrong?’. Turns out I was very allergic to this detergent, and since we washed our clothes with it obviously, my skin became very red and itchy, especially around the band of my underwear. It was very VERY uncomfortable and my mom rushed to find the old detergent and once she did, threw literally all my clothes into the wash for good measure. That did the trick, but man was that week a disaster-
I had my first hives break out ever a few months ago (thanks amoxicillin) and literally felt like dying. I couldn't walk or do anything because it spread to my hands and feet. They ended up just giving me steroids and I just had to wait it out, but between all the crying and pain I rewatched this video and it just made me feel better about the situation. Just to see someone else have a relatable experience was oddly comforting. I would never wish hives onto anyone, not even my worst enemy lol

Dear god I can only imagine the pain. I know my own allergies so I tend to avoid them, except for cats. I love cats too much and I will die on that hill with my swollen eyes. The worst pain for me was the first time I'd ever thrown out my back. My parents like to buy things in bulk, this includes cases of water. So I was hauling it in and suddenly my back started to hurt but didn't think anything of it because of a prior injury that I figured was acting up. Later on I woke up around 3 AM in slight pain and discomfort and...I couldn't move! My mom called an ambulance because any time I tried to sit up or move from my spot, I would get intense pain in my back and I was already in pain some form of pain. When they picked me up to put me on the gurney, I felt like I was being torn in half. I normally kind of grit my teeth when I experience pain...nah, this time I screamed.
They actually hospitalized me and told me I wasn't allowed to leave until I could walk normally again. Me, being stubborn and wanting to leave, tried to do just that. I had to walk around using my IV as a cane and the hand rails on the sides of the walls for two days before they finally said I could leave. I didn't even have control over the TV, but at least I had my 3DS with me. 2.5/10 would not recommend.
I woke up at 5am this morning with this problem and this video is the first thing that came to mind. Jaiden, if you read this comment, thanks for making this video. It's actually pretty educational and helpful.
I also wanted to rip my skin off.
