14:15 one of the things most people overlook when planning a vacation is rest time. constantly doing stuff is tiring, so having breaks where you take a nap or do nothing are essential.
31 minutes of full animation in just a few months is dedication I can’t even comprehend. It takes roughly 2 years to make a full animation from scratch and the fact that Jaidens team finished this in such short time is beyond enough. Jaiden and her team deserves a break. Phenomenal job!
Imagine being a TSA guy in Japan and you see two tourists come through with eight suit cases and multiple backpacks. They load it onto the X-ray machine and you see HUNDREDS of cute little plushies and merchandise slowly cart its way through on the monitor.
Jaiden's traveling itinerary sounds like a dream! I too suffer from easily being overstimulated on traveling trips, my travel campanions thought I was being a lazy lump on a log type and called me outright ungrateful, but honestly I need a lot of down time even in my daily routine. Quiet and serene is just my cup of tea.

I don't buy the cards but, even thou the favouritism towards the Pokémon he likes is kinda understandable, they still should make sure the disproportion is not that big. It's too unfair otherwise. :/
I really appreciate the inclusion of “yeah I was exhausted” points in the video. I tend to push myself way past my limits on trips, and it’s unironically helpful to see that others struggle as much as I do over extended periods of trip time
As an autistic introvert (whichever is relevant in this circumstance), I feel this. I would definitely need multiple days to recover. Going anywhere and doing anything while on vacation, for example, is existentially exhausting. I can only imagine how miserable they must’ve been when it was brought up. Still, I’m happy they had a blast and I’m sooo jealous of all the stuff they got to do!
This is why I prep myself with extreme exercise prior to any trip: 2 hours of weight lifting and 3-4 hours of cardio. By the time I get to a cool place (i.e. Copenhagen or Montreal) I'm able to walk 20 miles and not feel much in the way of physical exhaustion.
this reminds me of the time that i went a tour around europe for a month and we missed out on like 1/4 of our stuff just because of sleeping in bc how exhausted we were
What an incredible episode! We love Japan and went on our honeymoon back in 2019. It was my second trip since I studied abroad in 2001. We’ll go again, but not until our 1 year old is probably old enough to walk miles per day, so maybe another 10 years. What I want to know is, how much trouble was it to declare all your stuff?! Customs must have had a field day with you! When we went on our honeymoon we only brought 2 traveler (large) backpacks, because we knew if we brought more luggage, we’d go crazy. And back in 2001, I did go crazy. Our next trip we will definitely let loose. This video was amazing!

You can usually talk to the staff and exchange a certain amount of capsules for the thing you want. That way you don't get cut off. Thankfully Jaiden doesn't know Japanese well enough to do that, or else the video would be twice as long :P
Word of advise from a veteran japan weeber, dont buy suitcases, buy boxes, go to fedex, send them to yourself in the U.S. but put a week or two delay on the post. So that the boxes arrive when you are back home. Rinse and repeat during your stay, but having 1 extra suitcase for stuff is always a must. Btw, you didnt even make it past level 1 depth ice berg weebing out in japan. Theres some giant 24hour manga/figure/comic/card/games stores that will suck up every single penny you own. You would have been able to buy some of the most obscure original titles on cartridges second hand at these places. They are amazing. When I say huge, I mean huge, the manga sections are like Libraries. Its insane
One of the few perks of growing up in a tourist town is that I know ALL of the tricks for maximizing a vacation while not looking like and idiot. Yes, MAIL your souvenirs back home is 100% the way.
The end of this video made me remember just how much Jaiden used to hate being in photos and socializing with people. Seeing how much progress she made is heartwarming and I think I speak for all of your fans, Jaiden, when I say that we are all happy for you, and only hope to see you do more in the future.

Pro Tip for gachapon shops! You can ask the owner if you can change any multiples you have and they'll look to see how many multiples you've got and depending on the case, you can switch them out for different ones that you don't already have! I've done this once for these adorable soju bottles where I kept getting the original bottles instead of the cute green ones and the dude was SO NICE he let me exchange almost like all the boring ones for the designs I wanted. He was funny too when he was like "Shhhh" as like "don't tell anyone" but I'm sure this is a normal occurance if you end up getting multiples!!

It was such a surreal experience walking right out of a karaoke and seeing Jacob and you walk past my girlfriend and I in the busy busy streets of Japan (around Nishishinjuku??)- thank you very kindly for being so nice and letting me take a picture with you!! As a big fan from New Zealand, it was absolutely not in my 2023 bingo cards to bump into one of my all time favourite UA-camrs, and it absolutely made my whole year.
My take aways from this video: 1) Jaiden and Jacob had a lovely time and rewarding experience 2) Jaiden has a Chiikawa obsession and I'm glad she's been diagnosed since the trip 3) Jaiden should never take up gambling after the gacha store incident 4) With the amount they bought, thank god the airline didn't mess up and lose their baggage

Seeing Jaiden grow as an animator, story teller, and person is amazing. Going from past life stories, animations explaining interests and quirks she has, to something of this grand scale and seeing her passion for it all is incredible and makes me so happy that she’s enjoying life.

Not gonna lie, watching Jaiden's Chiikawa obsession materialize on Instagram back when they were in Japan was interesting, but seeing it happen through this video was outright hilarious. I lost it when it showed Jacob taking the pic in the store. I feel like this would be me with anything The World Ends With You or Kingdom Hearts related if I went to Japan and found merch from either series, just me obsessively trying to get anything for my favorite characters while my friends and family see the brain rot I've had for these franchises since I was ten resurface and take over.
This is such a difference from the “Japan Haul” videos you see from some people who spend a week there, a majority of their time in shops, and then just get a pack of stickers and maybe a pen.
It's so cool to see how Jaiden's animation style has so distinctively evolved and or improved, you can clearly tell that she has experience with vitalizing every single stroke of a pen. (this came out more sophisticated sounding than I meant to, also all hail to tuxedo Magnemite)

I LOVE the way Japanese audiences do encores. It builds suspense and hype. American encores are good, they keep the momentum, but having the energy drop like a calm before a storm really makes the encore hit
Here in Scotland, when we want an encore it usually ends up like the band has just left the stage and everyone starts chanting; "ONE MORE TUNE! ONE MORE TUNE!" And it's actually pretty funny to witness and be a part of, especially if you're not from Scotland. I think our accents are a big part of it. Bands and musicians from the UK are usually expecting it and think it's fun too, but bands and musicians from other places are always caught off guard and it's just as funny haha.
I love that in the video Jaiden took of Jacob grabbing the plushies he looks up and smiles. But it's not just that he smiles, it's that it's one of those "I'm making a bad decision and you can't stop me :D" smiles.

It kind of scared me how relatable Jaiden's money problems became by the end of the video. I remember the days when I was five years old and I was so obsessed with a certain superhero I would steal action figures of the character from my daycare, and steal costumes of him from my brother's bff. I was not okay. If I were put in the right circumstances- say, someplace that celebrates Spider-Man - I would be suffering the same hyper obsessive behavior, and probably die from a sudden and non-avoidable affliction of being broke. Speaking of Spider-Man, I've never seen him drawn like he is in this video. Its interesting and cool. Great video as always Jaiden! :D
Conventions are the one time I let my inner "I want! I want!" take over, and I at least give it a limit to how much I would let it spend or carry. Usually it’s a recent series or game you love, but sometimes I surprise myself by buying merch of a franchise I haven't thought of in years. Not gonna lie, watching Jaiden's Chiikawa obsession materialize on Instagram back when they were in Japan was interesting, but seeing it happen through this video was outright hilarious. I lost it when it showed Jacob taking the pic in the store. I feel like this would be me with anything The World Ends With You or Kingdom Hearts related if I went to Japan and found merch from either series, just me obsessively trying to get anything for my favorite characters while my friends and family see the brain rot I've had for these franchises since I was ten resurface and take over.

I LOVE the way Japanese audiences do encores. It builds suspense and hype. American encores are good, they keep the momentum, but having the energy drop like a calm before a storm really makes the encore hit
Here in Scotland, when we want an encore it usually ends up like the band has just left the stage and everyone starts chanting;
"ONE MORE TUNE! ONE MORE TUNE!" And it's actually pretty funny to witness and be a part of, especially if you're not from Scotland. I think our accents are a big part of it.
Bands and musicians from the UK are usually expecting it and think it's fun too, but bands and musicians from other places are always caught off guard and it's just as funny haha.

It kind of scared me how relatable Jaiden's money problems became by the end of the video. I remember the days when I was five years old and I was so obsessed with a certain superhero I would steal action figures of the character from my daycare, and steal costumes of him from my brother's bff. I was not okay. If I were put in the right circumstances- say, someplace that celebrates Spider-Man - I would be suffering the same hyper obsessive behavior, and probably die from a sudden and non-avoidable affliction of being broke.
