It's been a while now that I've followed you guys...ok so I turn 70 on Christmas day and play of 15, but you've given me so much hope that I can transform my swing, played today and despite not having any practice facilities, my iron play has improved enabling a front 9 of 43. Another gem of a video. You folks are quickly becoming a favorite to me. Your video made me realize I was swinging along my set shoulder plane which is tilted down and away from target which was giving me fits on getting on plane. Thank you so much!
Stumbled upon this video out of pure luck. I say pure luck because I wasn't actively looking for anything and yet it resonated with me. I have since subscribed. I have for the past few years struggled with contact on my irons. Most misses were low on the face, distance inconsistent, or toe right short shots. Now out of the pure luck aspect, I had a year end match play event come up and literally 2 days before I had your video appear. I watched it a few times, then after work headed to my local course just to work on my game on the course, as we don't have a range. It took me several holes but by using just one little thing in this video, I started center face flushing my irons and after several more holes I noticed my ball flight come down more consistent and I felt i picked up at least 1/2 club if not a full club (or more back to a distance of a few years ago). I didn't win my match play event(would have been a better comment had it took me to victory HA!) but I felt confident and competitive against one of the better golfs in our area. I look forward to more videos and will always save this one as the trick that fixed my contact.
Good stuff guys. I was aware of this in a way, but couldn't put it into action. Worked along with you video and it feels great Smooths out the transition yet really adds speed to the downswing for me anyway. That small circle the trail shoulder makes really shows in acceleration through the hitting area. Thanks
In a “secret move” video you mentioned lateral movement first and then rotation. This was a big unlock for me, creating space and helping me square the club face. In this and other recent videos, I’ve seen nothing about the lateral first move. How does it connect to these shoulder movement concepts? What should trigger the backswing? Appreciate all the content, thanks!

Wow - this is awesome! I haven't hit any balls outside as yet with the infinity swing, but while swinging indoors, I can easily keep connection with my upper arms in the armpit area. Will this produce a nice jump in my swing speed? You guys are the BEST on YT!!
So cool!!! Rotating the trail shoulder first, is such a fun! I can pick up/back the shoulder as slow as I can and there’s still huge speed build up. So cool. And effortless. Swing is fun with you, thank you! Strangely, it works for putting, as well🤷🏽 Thinking about shoulder move, lines the put straight with no thinking 😃 about the put itself
This makes a lot of sense, finally! Somebody puts it so I can understand, I’m 57 and my whole life I’ve struggled with over the top which I do just like you said not to for year and now lower back problems have arrived, so I translated this as opposed turn it’s more tilt up? The club needs to go up then around? So I took this to range today and wow what a difference I wasn’t getting stuck and which forces me over the top, and club came through the zone so much easier and slices and pulls were almost gone completely! So I’m turn to achieve this I brought the club more up as apposed to around!! Is this correct? FYI I’m a 6 handicap that has survived on being able to get up and down! This may have changed my life! Hey guys, I seem to be able to get the drill with the dowel, but I’m struggling when I add the club. How do you suggest that I transition from drill to club. Many thanks for your help. Andrew
Hi! Quick question. I tend to come too much from the inside at impact when I do this. I hit a nice draw but the path is like 8/9 sometimes 10 degrees inside out. Any tips for this?
Does your preferred method of swinging tend to be on the lower side of the backspin? Maybe I’m hitting too flat as opposed to hitting down on it, but getting like 1.34 smash factor with 5500 backspin with my 34 degree 7 iron. Goes like 175 yards which i guess i’m not complaining, but i was hoping to be around 7000 rpm backspin.

Guys, love your stuff, but in all your videos you refer to being over or under "the plane" and you, at least that I know of, never really identify or explain what "the plane" is. Also, does this "the plane" shift during the swing? Everyone talks about planes in the swing, what is your definition of "the plane"? Thanks, and please keep the lessons coming!
What a GREAT question! The swing plane, if looking down the line will draw a line from the hosel of the club through the trail shoulder. That is what we're referring to as plane.
Thanks! Very interesting, read a ton of books, watch hours of video, never have I heard or read that exact plane line. Ball to base of the neck, straight line up the shaft at address, never through hosel through the trail shoulder. Is this a static line established at address, or does it move with the shoulder (lower at impact, for instance). Which brings me to another question, what is the relationship of the "shaft plane" to the "shoulder plane" through impact? Does the shoulder plane point at the target line, inside the target line or beyond? Or should you try to match the shoulder plane, that is be parallel to one another through the ball? Thanks for all the information!@@elitegolfschools
@@golfweed9947 easy question first, the line remains static. And the shoulder axis (where the chest is pointing) should have some degree of target bias at P7 (impact)
The simplest way to learn movement of the club is through the shoulders. I really wish teaching lower body movement was gone. It screws up so many ams and even pros.
The concepts are good, but the inexact, sometimes downright wrong, use of biomechanical terms creates confusion. Scapular elevation in the backswing? So a shrug with the trail shoulder? Sorry just no. Upward rotation of the scapula yes, but scapular elevation without massive compensations is a swing killer.
@@alecrosekrans it absolutely does both! There may not be an active elevation, active “shoulder shrug” but the scap absolutely elevates to some degree. If the spiral engages to any degree the trail scap slightly elevate in the backswing
I agree with the instruction, but I think the title of this video is very misleading. I think what you’re saying is you don’t turn your shoulders on a horizontal plane you turn the shoulders on more of a vertical plane, but you do turn your shoulders, so therefore, the title of this video is very misleading.
@@jherl8307 cool, point is it’s difficult to describe the ‘shoulder’ since it is made up of 4 bones. We are simply describing that most players inappropriately scap retract to begin the swing leading to spine problems throughout the backswing 🙏🙏

Wish I would have seen this 60 years ago. Sixty years of over the top.
Better late than never!
What makes up the shoulders?? How would you describe the shoulders?? 🤔
@@elitegolfschools From the shoulder blades in the back to the space between the clavicles and the rotator cuffs in the front
@@jherl8307 cool, point is it’s difficult to describe the ‘shoulder’ since it is made up of 4 bones. We are simply describing that most players inappropriately scap retract to begin the swing leading to spine problems throughout the backswing 🙏🙏
@@elitegolfschools 💯 agree if you listen to details it makes perfect sense!

@@jimper15 we may someday! We’ll be sure to let you know!! And YES! Absolutely ties into all the cool tissue stuff 🌀🌀
@@elitegolfschools Awesome, I was lucky enough to spend some time with Kelvin Miyahira and you are in his lineage.
