Mark never ceases to amaze me with his lessons. Absolutely one of the best teachers on the the internet.
Mate you're brilliant. New to the channel but love the videos.
Your down-swing should "feel" as though you're tuning your body "inside-out".
😅
90% of golf instruction is undoing misinterpreted advice.
The stack & tilt community has been banging on about this for the last 15 years.
Superb video. Just love these tutorials, with just the right amount of information to digest, and more importantly, explained in a sensible and straightforward way with great personality 👍🏻 (my cheque's in the post, Mark, right? 😂)
Took this idea to the course today and wow what a difference! For a tall person this keeps my Center of gravity in the right place. I didn’t get stuck on my right side. Thanks Mark!
Looked at times like Mr. ROBOTO, but great drills!
Rainbow my shaft
Haha
Fantastic video! Really love this channel, you have a great way to break down ideas into digestible bits that are easy to follow. Thanks for all the great info you share!
Just watched a Saguto video telling me to turn. Lol! Of course, he says to tilt and turn. Very similar to this lesson. Thanks for including some drills to practice this.
Saguto is awesome. Stack and Tilt can help the weekend golfer imo.
@@michaeldodd6864 my arse its garbage.
@@AlastairBarker sorry to hear your arse is garbage.
Wow! Great lesson explained so simply! Can't wait to take it to the range. I feel like I just learned the secret all the pros know and would never share! 😆
Great concept…but mention S&T and folk lose the plot. Excellent video Mark
Brilliant Mark, it makes so much sense.
Thank you.
Back to school boys and girls. It’s Day 1……….
Mark, this is exactly what my pro has me working on. I love the exercises as I can use these away from the course and driving range. Excellent, thanks.
Good luck with it.
well you just undid 23 years of me giving hints to other golfers, youre welcome
I like your "outside the box" teaching Mark. Its real!
Thanks Terry.
I drive 75 yards further and straight if I turn my shoulders-Otherwise it's all arms. If you don't turn your shoulders you can't put your hip into it.
Tilt and twist people! I think it's time we stopped using the term turn in the golf swing unless it benefits a specific individual. Just my two cents
what in the world is that driver shaft? it looks like candy
I don't watch lessons
I don't watch reviews

Incredibly good visual Mark, have saved to work on. Love the follow through move. Thankyou.
You are welcome. 👍
Loving this current set of instruction videos from you Mark!
Thanks Paul.
Not sure what they've been feeding you but the last two videos should be mandatory for all golfers and teachers! The "retain your posture" baloney really must die. You are retaining angles to some extent yes, but the posture has to change dramatically if you want to hit any good shots with any kind of power.
So true.
I believe this is one of the finest, most concise, demonstrations of how to get the feel of a torso turn that i've seen on UA-cam. I was watching my son's swing in video earlier today and i noticed he's all shoulder but very little "trunk" turn, and was trying to think up a way to help him turn more. This is the video I'm going to show him! Thanks!
If you get in golf posture and turn your back to the ball, your left shoulder will point down at the ball. I was told to widen my swing, to give myself room
Shorter and to the point would be appreciated, but great tip.
As someone with bad knees Mark, this destroys them.
It just introduces much more pressure and therefore pain into them...
if you don't "move your shoulders", how does the initial takeaway and backswing sequence look like? I have always been taught to move your shoulders first, in the first part of the takeaway.
I try to think of side bend. Left side squeezes down, right side stretching up on back swing, the reverse on downswing
Monte Sheinblum will be proud! all the competent instructors are converging on similar concepts. man, I wish this stuff had been around when I was 14
Here I was thinking the EXACT same thing.
There’s a reason all the pros are at a different shoulder angle 📐 at impact - they tilt so simple 👏
I saw an analysis that shows that pros tend to have about 40-42 degress of shoulder tilt in the backswing and all are at 55 degrees of shoulder tilt at impact, even Jim Furyk. Amateurs are more like 24 and 32. I think that the sidebend is expressed more, or most successfully, in the upper thoracic region of the back - as the transition occurs the upper body pretty much flips automatically from being tilted to one side to the other. I think there is also a degree of tilt in a pros pelvis, with the lead side lower than the trail side in the backswing, which helps with that left side jumping up motion Mark was describing previously. Mark seems to be having a run of good videos recently.
LOL! Love how you have the driver with the most expensive shaft tucked in on the left... gotta get that monies worth!
It cost me so much. I need to use that thing.
At the end you showed using the lead hand holding the trail elbow, could you reverse this for the takeaway (trail hand on lead elbow)?
Absolutely fixed my swing! Wow.... Best video I have ever seen
Worked with Jack Nicklaus for years, he said, "I never tried to turn, the CLUB turned me" FIX THE CLUB!
Brilliant mate !! But .... is that not stack and tilt ! Look forward to your response !
Thank you so much for this Lesson Like wow big improvement to my swing now Indoor numbers on a good drive 243 yard carry swing speed 99 10.5 degree head Today going to move it to 9.5 see if I get more yards Keep the tips coming Thanks again oh and way less pain with this swing 😀
Fantastic Mark… great video my friend!!
thank you :D
I took him serious until I saw that "Wizard of Oz over the rainbow" driver shaft..........probably cost an arm and a leg, too.
Looks like an awesome lesson. I can’t wait to get out to the range and work on this.
Very cool, very interesting way to look at the golf swing. Thanks
This is a field loaded with mines. To my opinion, how you tilt/rotate your upper body has everything to do with how you do the same with your lower body. And that correlates very much to how you move pressure to the ground. Ive been led astray a lot with this industries focus on "rotation", and I have done all the wrong movements you emphasize in this video. What has (probably) been the most important issue though, is that I have tried to "rotate" my upper body by pulling it around with my arms in the backswing, which I see a lot of golfers do. If you get to where you can feel the stretch in your side muscles, both in back- and throughswing, I think you have come a long way in getting things right. Problem is there are so many things intercorrelated to this matter.
This video is exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you.👍👍
You are welcome.
Lean forward, rotate shoulders around spine.
What am I missing?
Great lesson and insight. The "tilt" is so important in your swing. Great drill also. Keep up the good work, you're in your best element when you give us these tips and tricks, and educate us. Thanks so much. Cheers.
Look, Mark is doing the calisthenics channel...haha. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4. But hey, if it helps me hit the ball...why not?
Mark the Mandalorian. “This is the way.”
Haha love it. This is the way
To me it's absolutely crazy how we can call a movement in the hip a shoulder turn. It's like saying a hip turn is a head turn because the head is moving. Yeah, the head, the shoulders, and the upper torso is moving but boy is it misleading to call that a shoulder turn, or a head turn, or a torso turn for that matter. To me, a should turn would would be movement of the actual shoulder, the scapula against the torso, and possibly the rotation of the upper torso around the spine.
Another great demonstration and drills to get us the correct movements in the golf swing.
Hi Mark
I´ve loved most of your videos. However, this feels all wrong to me. If you were a doctor, I would say you are treating the symptoms, not the disease. Where is the ground force? If you start with the ground force, using your legs to rotate your hips (not rotating pelvis) and stay relaxed in your upper body, your shoulder will turn down correctly. Then, do the same when you turn back to your target line. Have I misunderstood your video?
This is classic „Stack&Tilt“, Andy Plummers invented swing.
That was a fantastic golf tip, try`ed it on the sky track and the improvment was incradibie and it was really easy to do. thanks Mark!!
Hi Mark. You made reference to incorrect teaching of bent at address. Ive always tried for my finger tips to touch top of knee cap. May to much?
Can you please elaborate on correct amount of bent at address?
Thanks
Great video and something I have struggled with this for many years! If I tilt I feel like I'm losing height in the backswing, is that a problem??
Brilliant lesson Mark, tried this the last couple of days, seen significant yardage gains due to better impact
When I started recording my swing I realised my backswing was very short. Like, Jon Rahm short. Obviously without the freakish power. It wasn’t causing any particular issue but I thought it looked less graceful than it should. Tried everything to make it longer but in the end I went back to my short backswing. Everything I tried made it more good luck than good guidance if I hit the ball cleanly. I tried increasing the tilt like this it didn’t help at all. Not because it’s bad advice. It’s just that I was already tilting and I was getting right out of shape trying to force it. I wasn’t struggling for distance so I decided to use my time on the range to correct hooks, slices and consistency in distance with my stubby backswing.
I like to visualize it as putting a 12-foot stake through the center of my spine into the ground (the stake is coaxial with the spine) at address. Now you cannot move your body transversely due to the stake; however, you can rotate around it, to swing the club. Of course this is just to work on one part of the mechanics at a time. In reality, you also eventually want to add in the lateral hip shift, at which point the stake would shift slightly to the left in the downswing.
Excellent video.....thanks for posting
Love this video Mark. Can’t wait to try
Thanks Mark 2 excellent videos I did watch. Thanks again.
Fantastic video. One thing that I can't understand is how to hit a driver like this, because tilt seems to also mean lag and club angle at contact, but this is leaving my driver club face wide open at impact
Thanks a lot Mark... how is it possible that it didnt get 20000👍 yet.... pure golf and free... thanks again
I this about playing golf under your shoulders and not around them that’s what it looks like to me anyway 😊
WOW !! This Video is a game changer!!! Never heard about this topic!!! I am coming over the top for over 12 years now and nobody could explain it to me, but this video made so much sense!!!!!!!!
Have to say this video along side tom saguto video on tilt is seriously simplified, i struggle with just turning my shoulders cant wait to try adding this to practice
Think Faldo said left shoulder to sternum. A good “shoulder turn” automatically gets weight onto right side and the hip turning: it’s so important.
Brilliant that Mark
Altho you do make it look so easy 😂😂
😂
Lot of people are also sitting down on the down-swing ”rotating” the spine upright at impact due poor hip flexibility or wrong idea of what a squat inswing should do.
I was trying to do this at the range yesterday but hit ten shanks in a row….. why?
My head just exploded. I've been looking for a way to explain the backswing to a good friend who just started golfing. Just sent this video over to him.
Must admit I didn’t really get my head around this at the first viewing but watched it again then played with it at the range today and it’s gold!
If this works, I will be very p…..d off at all the crap I have been fed over the years!
Cracking video mate, this has really resonated for me and can’t wait to put these drills into practice
Mind Blown
Wow great drill
Thanks Carson.
Loved this video. Great instruction in a way we can all understand!
Thanks Christopher hope it helps.
Thank u Mark, for these free Golden Golf lessons!!
That shaft.
Never thought about the difference between rotation and turn. Mind blowing and explained masterfully
This is great Mark, just what I’ve needed. Keep you the fantastic work. Many thanks.
Thanks David. Hope it helps.
@@MarkCrossfield hi Mark, only been doing the drills for 10 mins and already my swing is starting to feel better (the over the top movement seems to be going). How you have described the movements make far more sense. This couldn’t have come at a better time, I’m playing the old course next month, I may now have a chance of not hitting the rather expensive hotels and shops, lol. Having been a subscriber of your channel from the early days, you’ve always provided honest and impartial content. Credit to ya Mark. Thanks again.
@@daviddolphin242 let me know if it keeps working
@@MarkCrossfield certainly will. Thanks again. 👍
Hi Mark, played Saturday and noticed a vast improvement in ball strike. Odd miss hit after slipping back into old habits, as soon as I went back to this method the better strikes came back. Going to continue this and hopefully I’ll have my best season. Really appreciated, keep up this great channel Mark. Thanks again.
Great stuff Mark. Thanks

Great video Mark 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great lesson! Thank you
Great video Mark. V well explained. I can see why I keep falling off balance after contact. Looking forward to hitting the course
Stack and tilt has transformed my golf game! Age 57 last year I had my lowest ever gross - 2 under - lowest ever handicap - 6.6 - and first hole in 1 in 40 years of playing. Just to make sure I had another hole in 1 2 months later. More importantly by no longer using spine compression as a power source, 2022 was my first year without back pain since 1997.
Kind of intresting take Mark.
If you can use the hips properly, like Mark is doing, there is not that much tilt or shoud we say side bend involved, if you move the origo into your pelvis and follow the spine line up the neck and look inside out, how shoulders move relative to your spine. You defenately turn the shoulders.
It is the same move as upright turning left and right, but since the posture is bent over the ball it looks and is often teached, that you need to crunch your sides turning back and forth, yet the big key is the hips. And how legs deliver the force into the pelvis.
Turning shoulders wasn’t really a shoulder turn, but upper body turn without rotation/twisting the spine. And very much similar to how oldies or cerval spine prolaps patiens look over their right in a junction, cause the neck don’t move.
How do you like that auto flex shaft??
OMG! This is a massive game changer for me. I cannot thank you enough for this video!
It's so simple. I've spent literally £1000's in the past 12 months and my game is fully in the mud. I've gone from shooting in the 70's to shooting high 90's. I've been so confused but this video has opened my eyes.
Wow that was perfect. Exactly the information I need!
This tip has really helped me, thanks.
SMH! What a great video. Never heard the golf turn explained like this. Thanks for the great tip.
Any "self taught" golfer will find this information priceless. Thanks, Mark! Incredible.
Great video, have you ever considered that on the way back, the left arm stays straight, then back to centre both are straight, then on the follow through the right arm stays straight. With the other arm in each occasion bending to accommodate. Your first drill really hi-lighted this for me and is something I personally try to think about. Not sure if that’s right or not, but works as a good swing thought for me….
Content this year has been top notch 👍🏻
