    Definite game changer...I play at St Andrews Links courses and have tried this on my last 3 games without practicing the move first and I get instant results the connection is amazing. Sometimes I duff the ball and it goes straight left...however I will keep trying to get the move in to my game. Your videos are brilliant and have changed my game. Keep up the good work!!

    Marcus, great explanation and demonstration. I’ve always told myself to swing over the angled alignment stick and return the club under it to a full follow through. This has given me the confidence to swing as fast as I want, knowing I’ll make solid contact with the ball. Cheers.

    love to see golf instruction going back to the basics of "swinging the golf club".... I would love to see you do more videos on this slingshot drill.... I can't see that snap action when you do a full swing. Is that a snap feeling we should feel on all shots?

  • @Supper-zero

    Great demonstration, can't wait to try this with the driver because that's the one I really have a hard time swinging up on the ball with. I tend to drag my hands through and never really snap the wrists.

    Thanks Marcus...a great drill. I struck me a few years ago that we don't have the language to really describe what is going on when it comes to the club head path, and your drill demonstrates this perfectly. Often instructors talk about the "swing circle", and they are partially correct. However, when you add body motion towards the ball and target, the actual clubhead path is an oval with the long edge of the oval pointing towards the target (more or less). The effective enter of the circle must move forward and down changing the actual club head from circular to elliptical. This challenge was confounded in history because it is hard if not impossible to accurately draw this dynamic motion in 2 dimensions and rarely if ever never made it into early golf books and guides. While this might seem semantic to some, those old guys like me who heard the term "swing circle" for years and years, and focused on trying to draw that dam circle with the club head, it created all kinds of problems that no one ever connected to a mental image of a circle. Your drill/explanations help change that image by rewriting the story and more accurately bringing the dynamic (and natural) nature of a good swing path into view. Thank you very much.

    Makes a lot of sense for coming down under rather than over in a normal golf swing. Coming over the top is a common fault for a lot of golfers. One of the "corrections" for this, which l have tried myself, is swinging down at the ball from a closed position, which is a major game changer. But l,ll certainly give this drill of your,s a try Marcus. Fantastic.

    A perfect drill as well as the description of the 2-3 area. And a very good swing thought. I have a question. I´m struggling to find which way to hit... I´m right handed but bat from the left... the sling motion seems to be a copy of a base ball swing... Would it be a good idea to commit to the left...?

    I discovered this feeling in my swing a few years ago. It took me a while to harness it and gain accuracy, but I found effortless power with solid contact.
    A tip I would offer to compliment this concept which wasn't mentioned would be this: the speed of the clubbed, or the slingshot sensation is heavily dependant on the hands slowing down PRIOR to impact! If you watch closely, you see his hands stall during the sequence, just before the club fires into a slingshot. Another way to conceptualise it is to watch a video of a whip cracking and you'll see the importance of the hands stalling.

    • @GRFGolf
      @GRFGolf  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks, totally agree. Can't include all details in order to keep it simple. Deceleration is a function that enables the transfer of angular momentum and happens naturally if we let it 👍

    How do you prevent this action from overdrawing and snap hooking?

    • @GRFGolf
      @GRFGolf  2 місяці тому +1

      There's more to it of course but in general it's the lagged sequence with the pivot action of the body that is at the heart of it. Another main element is your low point and release pattern which influences how your body recognises squaring the face.

  • @Ulster2
    @Ulster2 3 місяці тому +1

    Do you believe that the design of the club ( heavy heel , light toe) means the club head wants to naturally rotate around the shaft. Effectively opening on backswing and closing on downswing. Thanks.

    • @GRFGolf
      @GRFGolf  3 місяці тому

      Absolutely, the club naturally rotates if we allow it to happen 👍

    I find that a lot of modern youtube golf instructions tell me to "keep the clubhead square to target" throughout the swing. They argue that letting the wrist move freely, or letting yourself "use all the levers", will put a lot of pressure on timing. What do you think, Marcus? Doesnt that argument actually make a bit of sense?

    • @GRFGolf
      @GRFGolf  3 місяці тому +1

      The pivot of the body action tensions the arms naturally and stabilises the wrist function. This exercise is just that and not actually how the wrists react in the actually golf swing.
