    It has been very hard to be joyful lately and change my mind to be grateful for the season. Thank you for the reminder that joy is an intentional choice.

    My goodness you are an absolute godsend! Thank you for being a woman grounded in God’s word. Truly one of the best channels I’ve found for mother’s. I’m a homeschooling mom of three under age five, one of which is a newborn, and your words have been like a balm for my heart. I’ve bawled my eyes out three for three of your videos. Thank you for ministering to me!

      Oh my goodness sweet mama. Thank you so much for taking the time out to comment. You've blessed me so much to know that you've been encouraged here in this small space on UA-cam. Hugs to you as you navigate life with 3 littles. I certainly remember the joys and the tiredness very well ;) You are a rockstar. xo

    Praying for this, that I’ll be a joyful, playful mom… but a lot of time i get frustrated, irritated and angry 😢 its really hard to be a solo parent. But praise God for His grace… so glad I found your YT.

    This video has literally brought tears to my eyes....I have found myself so frustrated, angry, and constantly disappointed. My kids see it and this is not how I want to be remembered. I know things need to change.... when I was younger I was that person that always saw how situations and life could always be worse and would find good in everything. After being heavily involved with ministry for 10 yrs and 4 children under the age of 5. I have found myself on the other extreme and have wondered how did I get here? I admire your joyful and sweet spirit. Thank you for sharing!

      Oh, Sabrina! We were in full time ministry for 8 years...I absolutely understand the joys but also the pressure that comes with that!! I wish I could give you a big hug. Praying you can find time to slow down, rest, be still and do things that fill you up. xox

    Thank you for those wonderful reminders! One of the things that have helped me is to keep a daily gratitude journal. I write 3 life gratitudes which is things that I am grateful for that day and 3 self gratitudes, which is what I did right the day before. This has reminded me that I am enough and that I am blessed.:)

      When I read Anne Voskamps book "One Thousand Gifts" I was so reminded just how impacting gratitude is on our attitude (totally not meaning to rhyme ;) ) Hugs! xo

    A homeschool mom of 4 and children’s pastor here. This is something I feel so strongly about. It’s my word for the year!! We just did a kids lesson on it in church. If kids can grasp this young it will change their life’s. JOY - Jesus Others You. I loved that you hit on all these buttons. You are preaching and speaking truth!!!

    I loved this. Being intentional about choosing joy is huge. I get horrible migraines and they have actually reminded me that pain-free days are a huge blessing and opportunity for joy and happiness, regardless of the other things about motherhood that stress me out. Just being pain- free is something I take for granted!! Until I get another migraine, then I’m reminded again. Haha oh but how quickly I forget! Thanks for this video!

    • @ThisBlendedHouse

      Dealing with migraines is no joke! :( I completely understand taking certain things for granted...it wasn't until I returned from my trip to Africa that I realized the many "material" blessings in my life. I really don't want to forget that! Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Lydia!

      Oh Lydia I am right there with you girl! As I sit here this Sunday morning struggling with a migraine that just won’t let go, unable to go to church and worship along side my family it is SO easy to be in a bad mood!! I hear you on the pain-free says being such a blessing, unfortunately for me they are few and far between. I am going to be purposeful in CHOOSING JOY! Thank you both for sharing This is just what I needed today! ❤️

    Thank you for sharing this with us! It is so very true, our culture has us thinking that life is unbearable - yet people not too far away from us have no clothes, haven’t eaten in days or longer and lose their children due to no health care. It brings true perspective to how good we really have it even if it isn’t exactly what we think we want - god provides and we may not have all of our wants but needs are met 💜

    Great video! I definitely think reducing social media brings more happiness into your life, and also sharing those activities that bring you joy with your children is such great bonding time, they see how happy and relaxed you are and they just want to be a part of it!

    I find my joy is taken when the enemy convinces me that, because I’m tired from our newborn, that I will not be enough for my older kids. That my older kids need more than I can give and for that day I feel like I have failed as a mommy. The idea that I’ve fallen short because we didn’t get to all of our summer homeschooling or that I don’t have the energy to walk the kids due to my lack of sleep. Feeling bad for saying no to their adventures that they want me to be a part of.
    God has gently reminded me that there are new mercies E.V.E.R.Y morning. That one day is one day and to get creative in my time with the kids. Grace is something that I’m still learning. It’s so much easier to give it to others than myself!
    God has also introduced me to 3 pm coca colas! Truly they boost me and give me the energy I need to enjoy the end of our day! I’ve also been diffusing oils (which I never did before) and lighting candles. I like to open up allll of the blinds and let in light. Play Christian music and dance whenever my kids dance. To experience freedom in our everyday gives me a great deal of joy.
    Thank you Shirley for sharing your joy with me!

      Oh! And of course being the word daily. When I don’t have time for a full devotional, I use my bible app or just flip to the proverb of the day. Just 5 minutes with God sends the peace of the Holy Spirit. It’s a part that I cannot live without!

    • @ThisBlendedHouse
      @ThisBlendedHouse  5 років тому +1

      I love so much how you have let God show you how to bring joy into your day...the season of having a newborn can be so difficult and it sounds like you are doing a GREAT JOB. I really believe that God graces us for the call he has on our lives AND He graces our children for the call on their parents' lives. This precious newborn is part of God's plan for your family's life and your older children will never be able to imagine life without him/her!! xo

    I love the videos you produce. On your point of never reaching perfection: I think rather than saying we will never reach perfection so we need not try for it is the wrong approach. We need to remember perfection is reached through Christ, our perfection comes through our continual progression. If we are continually progressing towards Christ we are on the road to perfection. We need to learn what perfection is through Christ’s eyes and what it looks like for him not through our perspective. We will never reach perfection if we have the wrong definition of it. God does not give us commands we cannot obey or “achieve”.
    Again, love the videos.

    I was just praying about Joy in my life last night! God is truly using you in my life and walk with Him!
    I would love to know your thoughts on selflessness in motherhood. I struggle to do anything for myself (even when I need it) because I feel selfish and like I could be doing something for my family instead.

    • @ThisBlendedHouse
      @ThisBlendedHouse  5 років тому +2

      Ah, selflessness. I think about a pendulum...some moms take it too far to either extreme, completely pouring themselves out for their families and never refilling, and the other extreme would be neglecting family to pursue only and all the things they want to do. I think there is a happy medium. A place where you are both pouring out AND filling up. For all of us it will look different. As a Christian, knowing God's voice is huge...He is so good to gently steer me when I am leaning too far in either direction. I hope this answers your question!! :) xo
