    At last, you’ve brought the SR+ out the shadows. It seems quit often neglected and underrated.
    We have one, and we go everywhere (just on the supercharger network). It smokes other cars, accelerates up ‘vertical’ mountain passes like a raving banshee, and cruises effortlessly. And all from one motor and a medium/small battery around 47/50kwh.
    It’s got to be experienced.

      @@omelvold Yes, watching Bjorn drive spiritedly in snow, has made me wonder how, rear wheel only driving, will be in these conditions. It would be great if he could do some testing in an SR+ while you've still got snow.
      We're driving up to the Pennines in a couple of weeks, where we habitually get snow and ice. Many of the roads aren't treated, and this can carry through to March/April, on and off. If we hit snow, I'll let you know how it goes.
      On charging, we always get a notification that the battery is preconditioning as we approach the next supercharger, but maybe it's just heat scavenging?

    3:42 I've been to that shopping mall to charge. It's a weird place when it's open!!! The SR+ does preheat when you 'trick' the car into thinking it's going to a Supercharger even if you go to IONITY in the end.

      The Model 3 SR+ is a great car. But the Long Range Model 3 gets an additional 160km of range and an additional motor so if one of the motors fail, then you won’t be stuck on the road since you have the other motor.

      I originally wanted a SR+, but the price was way to high. Even the base version. Got a Leaf (despite rapidgate) for 50.000 NOK less, and that included roof rack and trailer hitch (for bicycle racks). BUT, we are awaiting the seven seater Model Y and will probably change cars then.

    This is exactly the information I have been looking for. I've been trying to decide if I should get the SR+ or the LR (or Sleeper), but I was hoping the efficiency of the SR+ would offset long trip times.

    • @TheStopwatchGod
      @TheStopwatchGod 4 роки тому

      Korruptor If you want a Tesla Model 3 but either want to spend less money, or the advantages of the long range Model (better range, interior, etc) doesn’t matter to you, then the Standard Range Plus Model 3 is a great car. If you need the extra 160km of range from the Model 3 LR, or the other benefits, then get that version. It reduces range anxiety.

    I have the 35,8 kWh e-Golf and I love it. It drives very comfortably, has a fantastic audio system (Dynaudio) and has a pretty good build quality overall. I rarely drive in eco-mode, but I must add that I drive quite carefully. I stay under 100km/h and the AC sporadically is turned on. With all these efforts, I get a maximum of 240/250 km out of a charge - in winter time, with the heater on 20C and a cold battery, this is reduced to a maximum of about 180/190 km. It doesn’t bother me that much during most of my driving, but on longer trips it’s quite a hassle. Multiple fast charges also drain the battery capacity. That being said, I love how you averaged the time of your trip with the Tesla. This goes to show the quality of Tesla’s batteries and the importance of multiple, smaller stops to get the most efficiency out of it. If the chance arrises, I’m getting more and more eager to get a Tesla, just to have a little more convenience in every day use.

  • @Petrikles
    @Petrikles 5 років тому +1

    Very emty roads yielded here a good high avg speed. A distance of 1000km is very long. Which leads to relativity, as everywhere.
    E.g. my trips are more about 700km. SR+ would mean at least three short stops stops of 20 minutes each, twiddling your thumb and closely obeying the timing. LR AWD would mean, one stop long enough for an hour of dinner instead, not having to watch the time "for loading efficiency". Also means, more options, in case of traffic jam, charger jam, bad winds etc.

I know the power was raised by 5% in December 2019 which sounds like this SR+ has had this applied because the original spec was 333 horsepower. Bjørn, not sure if you're aware, but it's forbidden by law for a norwegian citizen to drive a car with foreign license plates in Norway, unless it''s a rental car or the owner is with you. If you get caught it could get expensive. You will get reported to the norwegian tax administration (skatteetaten) who will then charge you as if you were importing the car to Norway. Had it been a fossil we could be talking several hundred thousand NOK. Probably a lot less for an EV, but still expensive.

    Can you please compare M3 Performance with Long Range AWD ?
    I’m torn between Performance or AWD and efficiency/consumption is a dealbreaker for sure.
    But if I / you can compare same road trip with an AWD and the difference is not big then I’ll go with a performance. Thank you very much for your time and great videos as always. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

    My sr+ preheats battery ,but only if supercharger is chosen as top up/destination

    • @farhatsam8529
      @farhatsam8529 5 років тому

      This is normal as normal chargers (between 3 and 11kw) do not require pre-heating as the charging power is not brutal like superchargers. Superchargers will charge more fast when the battery is hotter

      @@fideliovienna4631 of course it will not. For that Tesla needs to specifically add Ionity charging points and recognize them as super chargers, and know their charging speed

    good video, you got a high consumption while driving it 135km/h i see it is around 220-230 wh/km. Here in the netherlands the max speed on all the highways will drop down from 130km/h to 100km/h during the day starting in March of this year. I already started to drive slower, during normal working days I drive 100km/h to work and achieve about 130wh/km on average. I have only charged at a supercharger once. Most of my days I drive anywhere between 150-300 km. Sometimes upwards of 400km, only then I need to plan a supercharger stop or drop my speed down to 90.

    Hey Bjørn!
    Do you control your arrival percentage by actively increasing energy usage?
    I cranked up the heat, including rear heaters, and cranked up my speed to optimize 5-10% arrivals.
    The Energy screen Trip tab is extremely useful in this regard! 👍🏻
    I’d really love to see arrival charge estimate in close proximity to state of charge. That would be a godsend for energy management while on a road trip!

  • @hwmusicmegastore

    I think you need to drive as fast as you can, because you can always charge far faster than you can drive. So if you arrive with 15% the notional charge rate will be slower than the rate at 5% but the difference in charging time will be less than the extra time spent driving slower.

      Bjørn Nyland - You could just maintain the speed limit of 120 Kph or do these challenges on the Autobahn... Because of the extra consumption, the extra 15 Kph probably would save less than an hour even if you can maintain 135 Kph for the whole trip.

    Just got my SR+ 2020 a few weeks ago.. LOVE IT.. only thing I wish is that it had the floor lights (disabled in SR+) and I wish it could charge more than 32 amp at home/destination charging. :(
    Think Tesla might open up the SR+ to premium option purchase at a later date?

    Just did 1100 kilometers in my MS 100D and it took 12 hours - but we took it in a very relaxed manner, without really planning or calculating a lot. And we also had to climb the french Alps in the last 100 km, so that increased consumption a lot.
    This shows that you can win a lot of time if you plan your charging stops intelligently.
