    What type of Cam did you use? Did you have to Change the piston firing order? I have a 2017 Ford F150 5.0 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4, and I want to add a Comp Cam and a performance Milling oil pump.

      I’ve got roller cams, firing order stays the same changing the cam won’t affect firing order. As far as the 5.0l it’ll all depend on what kind of cam and how aggressive you want to go. Also being dual over head the more aggressive the more timing adjustments you’ll have to do such as phaser limiting (advancing or retarding timing) and decreeing the cams

      You will never notice whatever power it might add from the driver's seat. They do make a TON of intake noise, I ended up removing mine because I was tired of listening to it.

    Hello Robert I just installed mother thumpers on my 2005 F150 and I have an edge programmer that got some custom tunings but I also want to get it dynode and get a tuning done that is specific for this truck did you have any problems with getting lean codes at first? I replace the spark plugs two times but after a couple days of running you start smelling a lot of fuel and the ECU lean out the truck to the point where the plugs will go bad and I’ll get the link code. Any help would be greatly appreciated I can’t seem to find any info on this

      I didn’t get any lean or rich codes at idle it’s going to smell really rich because of the duration of the cams not all the fuel if going to burn at idle now if you’re driving it and it continues to smell like gas your best bet would to get a new tune. I have a sct x4 with a custom tune from 5 star and the truck runs with no problems. Now I do have codes for misfires but all you have to do its change those parameters. I don’t have experience with the edge tuners personally I prefer the hp tuner or sct x4. These cams waste fuel at idle it’s normal but excessive is bad the truck shouldn’t be throwing that much gas at it

      Robert Roldan I got an update on my edge programmer, they were able to tweak it and I’m not getting lean or rich codes anymore, I agree with you on smelling feel at idle which I still do and I was expecting that with the camps also due to the fact that I’m running no catalytic converters. I do have a small amount of stumbling and hesitation anytime I stopped at a stop light and it’s idling for a few minutes, once I get going it builds up RPMs and the stumbling goes away, I am not sure if you are familiar with an older carbureted vehicle when you are running the wrong jets or a different altitude it has that stumbling when you first takeoff. Do you have that same problem? But once I get over 1800 to2 K RPMs it really likes to scream and runs great, Thank you for the quick reply

      @@mmachado619 the stumble your having at stop lights is your vct solenoids need replaced change those out and should help the stumble

      @@mmachado619 ah ok mine was doing the rough idle and stumbling and I changed those when I changed the timing set on mine I didn’t know if it would help you out or not. We Ford owners gotta stick together and help out when we can

      Right now im running a banks ram air ram air/ cold air intake, accel supercoils, 80mm bbk throttle body, air raid throttle body spacer plate, sprint booster throttle controller, superchips dashpaq tuner, straight pipe exiting right in front of passenger rear tire

    Is it easy to cam it or did you paid someone also do you recommend doing the timing job mines is not rattling yet but the injectors on mines are loud it has 150k miles

      The job is easy to do just buy the timing chain wedge or “cheese” get lock outs or cam phaser limiters if you’re going to cam it you don’t want to run into valves hitting the piston at WOT. I did everything myself driver side is easy passenger side is tricky but doable.

      @@robertroldan5157 ok so I order the frpp cams the wedge tool new phasers and about too order lockouts if I were to go with the comp cams limiter is that any better than lockouts

      @@robertroldan5157 sweet I heard it’s a easy install I just wedge the chain unbolt everything and just line the phaser and cam to the mark I make on the chain correct.

      I did I put in a fti 2800 stall converter, I would recommend doing lifters and rockers when you replace the cams. It’s cost a pretty penny but is better than having a rocker fail and a valve drop when running it. Also look into doing comp limiters for the phasers or lock outs. Lock outs are cheaper but I have limiters now and it does run better no issues with pre-ignition or detonation. If you want to go the extra mile solid motor mounts will be awesome 😂 as you can see in the video the engine is rocking, the ram intake is nice but it’s definitely not a cai at least with solid mounts you can run a cold air intake. In the summer time I found the trans to get warmer than I liked so I added another external cooler. Temps are now running at 170-190 hottest for trans and engine 175-180. I really need to do a follow up video for you guys. Lmk if you have any questions and what content y’all would like to see.

      If you have Facebook look up Todd warren and he can make some custom cams for you if you want something off the shelf como cam has plenty. The 4.6l 3v cams are the same as the 5.4l 3v

      nah it’s SOHC. Just pop the valve covers.

    Hey brother.. this is the build im working on right now actually. If you can offer insight that would be wonderful. Im 100% stock right now. I have the intake and sct pro4 was going to go straight exhaust. I obviously want to add the larger oil pump with mother thumper cams. What am needing, you have a build sheet and map i can follow?

      Hey man I changed my set up a little bit. I have the Melling 360hv, cloyes timing chains, still have the mutha thumprs but I went with the comp cam limiter kit and that was a big change it runs a lot better than the lockouts but I also replaced all of my lifters and roller followers and I also put new Ford cam phasers in

    Need a hand here,
    Lockouts vs limiters?
    Idle sound and mpg and low end tq comparison.
    Only thing holding back my order right now is my lack of knowledge on those three things. I don’t understand the lockout or limiter deal. I want that lope, I daily. And occasionally pull a trailer or two or travel.

      Lock outs keep the cam phasers completely locked meaning they cant retard or advance timing when accelerating or cruising, they will be stuck in a fixed position, not bad if you want to keep the phaser from failing but not good for mpg or torque, limiters allow the phasers to move but not as much as factory, so hitting peak torque is faster and it also allows you to save some of your fuel economy, imo limiters all the way especially if you’re going with the mutha thumprs, I put limiters in my truck when I rebuilt it and it’s a night and day difference, performance is better and truck seems to be happy with being able to adjust the timing. Lockouts are cheap and work but limiters seem to let the truck run better as far as idle lock out or limiter they’re the same i hear no notice difference when I had them locked vs now

      Colin Bird bit of both when the trucks sitting at idle it gets hot air but when you start driving it cools off but not like a true cai I got the jlt because of the rough idle from the cams I didn’t want the tube from the cai bouncing back and forth

      At the time I was running motorcraft plugs, now I’m running brisk USA silver core. Im about to do plugs again in like 15k miles and I’ll be going with msd iridium plugs

      Runs hella good tbh um i haven't done any quarter mile runs but my 0 to 60 is like 2 seconds faster than stock. I for sure would cam it again but i'd probably go stage 4 and set it for boost.

      @@elvisramos2660 as long as you wire it correctly it should not drain the battery, I’ve had no issues out of mine. I did go with a beefier alternator just to insure I have plenty of amperage for the e fans

      Gas mileage went down significantly with a crappy tune. Once the base tune was fixed I was getting about 12.5-13 mpg on Hwy and about 8 in city

      I’ve got the comp cams mutha thumpr, now with the comp cam limiters, Melling 360hv oil pump, fti 2800 stall converter, electric fans, hypertech pistons. I also have the jlt ram intake.. temp stays around 2 degree F above ambient.. at idle different story 😂 but I also have solid motor mounts now. Shorty headers with an slp loudmouth 2 I think that’s it 5 star tune but it’s not that good lmk if you want any like suspension mods or other mods I’ve done

      Not hard at all bunch of 8mm for the cam cover bolts after you take the coils off and unplugging some of the wiring also the 18mm bolt for the p/s pump reservoir passenger side is hard due to lack of room I found taking the battery and the box out, removing the pcm, and loosing the ac accumulator and moving it more to the fender helps give you more room after that it’s home free getting to the cams and cam phasers 10mm for the cam caps and 15mm for the cam phasers just make sure the cam caps go on exactly the way you took them off or you’ll lock the cam down also buy the timing chain wedge

      @@robertroldan5157 how’s the acceleration. I’ve got a stock lariat 07, 3.73s and street tires and 20s. I plan on keeping it just the way it is but I want the chomp. 2v,3v,4v just chop different than a ls. Love to see people’s faces when they hear it and look, and it’s a damn 5.4
