I've test-driven both and much preferred the C40 (which I have on order), mainly for seating position, feeling of space in the cabin, styling, access/egress and availability of textured wool seats. Mind you, I am a very old man, so that no doubt affects my preferences. I'd like to see two main improvements to the C40: a camera-based rear view mirror and the adoption of the Polestar's implementation of the Google Automotive interface (as discussed in the the video).
@@nads205 I have not seen the tailored wool seats in person, but admire their appearance in videos and stills, believe they would be warmer in winter and cooler in summer than the other options, and would brighten the interior. Note that Kristian has a video on those seats in various Volvo models (search "Volvo's Tailored Wool Blend upholstery option"). I have a question for you: what did you find wanting with the rear-view mirror camera in the Honda E?
The C40 has some advantages with interior and as you mention seating position. I'm also a huge fan of the Tailored Wool upholstery 👍 Same Android OS but I do prefer Polestar's layout. Maybe Volvo will adopt some of the elements here in the new generation cars. With the updated Android 2,0 👍
@@H4M24UK I ordered an XC40 Recharge in June, switched to a C40 in July and have been told to expect delivery in December. Victoria Volvo. My guess is that an eight-month wait from now is pessimistic given the loss of the $7,500 rebate in the US, which should depress demand there (but what do I know?).
Both great cars IMO. I chose the C40 over the P2. Easier to get in and out of for me and better styling. P2 is more like a BMW M3 in terms of handling and sportiness. Can’t go wrong with either one
I have the polestar 2. Great car. But, a little low to get in and out of. And the console is a bit crowding. The C40 looks so damn sexy to me. Although the 2023 does not have blacked out roof. BUT I love it’s stying. I am actually considering going to the C40. Am I crazy ?
i drove the polestar 2 for a month last year and loved it. i'm now one day into a month with the c40. so far, the c40 seems a really impressive vehicle; as is the p2. the c40 seems to offer the same shock/awe power proposition we find in the p2. but i, for one, find the handling of the p2 to be considerably better. it's true i can't really imagine why that is, given the vehicles are so similar. but my recollection is that the p2 is far tighter around corners at higher speeds. both cars enable you to outrun essentially anything on the road. these vehicles are both basically mind blowing. and having driven the tesla models S,Y,3 & X, i do find it quite obvious that the Volvo/Polestar vehicles are simply better in every regard. it's true the Tesla charging ecosystem is authentically better. but we keep hearing that barrier will come down. i still haven't yet been able to commit to purchasing any of the electric vehicles, though i'm usually driving one. i share the observation noted by an earlier commenter that used polestars are available at rather convincing discounts in the US. there are literally hundreds of polestar 2's with less than 1000 miles on them that can be purchased for 25-35k.
I really like the Polestar 2 (except for the stupid cup holders), but there are only 3 Polestar dealers here in Canada and they are thousands of kilometres apart. That is pretty hopeless.
this is a non issue because even if you buy a Polestar you will have to service it to Volvo anyways. Polestar do not handle service of their car they sell. They rely on Volvo.
@@farodopi5170 Hello, I don't know where you live or where you are getting that info. That would be great, but that is contrary to any info that I have read from both the Polestar website and from the owners on the Polestar Forums in Canada and the USA. I would be very interested to see any written statement that you have from Polestar. Thanks
Have to agree with the cup holder, perhaps a 3D printed cup holder mounted against the glove compartment is a workaround option? Does the door pockets hold bottles snugly? Regarding the seat height, I supposed you could compensate in the polestar 2 by adjusting upwards?
Yeah, maybe some aftermarket solution for the cup holder are needed.. You won't get the same height either way. The overall body of P2 are also smaller than C40
P2 hands down for the muscle car look (or if you prefer escaped concept car look), the Google Automotive OS, the lower and better driving position, sportier handling...
I test drove the C40 single motor. Plenty of go and I liked the look and comfort inside. I agree that the touch panel interface is not very good. What I really did not like was the steering, suspension and the amount of regen. Too much regen. You had to be really careful and precise with the accelerator pedal to operate the vehicle to drive smoothly. I though the suspension was to sloppy and the steering did not have a precise feel to it. Also the kWh/km was too high. I gather this has been improved in the 2024 model due in May this year. Could be a great vehicle but let down by its handling and user interface.
I slightly prefer the P2, however what would be the better car in the city? Do you think the P2 is more difficult to park because of the additional length of the car? What would be your feeling? Thank you.
Hello. That depends slightly on the city. Here in Bergen/Norway I don't find the additional size of the P2 to be an issue. Unlike when I had the XC90. If you often have to parallel park in tight city areas the C40 will have a little advance. But both cars have a pretty good turning circle, and if you go for the 360 surround camera it's makes it even easier 👍
Like both cars! I would probably picked the C40. Both are a great choice. But I stick with my Tesla M3 LR 2022, super quick, super efficient, super reliable app and software and superchargers.
Cup holders! What is it with the cup holder obsession? If you are waiting for the car to charge the P2's cup holders are good enough. If you are on the move and prefer to rest your arm on the centre rest, I would suggest having a coffee at the same time is not a good idea.
It's not a obsession 🤣 I just want to rest my arm, but still having a bottle or a can in the cup holder.. That's not possible here. It's also bad ergonomic if you have the can in the cup holder under the armrest. Not easy to reach. It's pretty annoying in daily use 🤣
@@volvo_kristian I have watched many Polestar 2 reviews and one theme that is recurring is the cup holder arrangement. My current car has 2 cup holders forward of the gear selector and after owning that car for a number of years I think I can count on 1 hand the number of times I have used them.
does the heat pump not help? i'm in the states in florida so cold is a non-issue but travel could be. was just curious. they tell us over here the heat pump will help tremendously... though still not to full range.
A little late to the party. As far as I know you can’t get the sports pack on the C40. Very surprised you spent so much time on the cup holders and didn’t mention the forged wheels, ohlins dampers and Bembro brakes. Especially since that vehicle was equipped with it. There is also a software update that increases the HP and Torque on the Polestar. There is a huge price difference in the used car market in Polestar’s favor as well in the States.
It's a quick comparison of the cars on a general point of view. The optional Performance Pack wasn't relevant in this round. The cup holders are used really much, and if you have driven a Polestar 2 then you may have encountered how annoying it could be there. Anyways, my video, my thoughts. And the cup holder situation are annoying for me. That's why I talk about it 👌
