You can also ask google assistant to find closest types of restaurants, etc. Hey Google, what are some Italian restaurants near me? It'll give a list. Thanks again Thom for this informative video. Do you know, if the voice control for OPD is going to be implemented by a software update in other languages than English?
Hi Thom, I have a question since you have an iPhone. In your daily usage do you tend to switch between the native android automotive and Apple CarPlay or stick with the native android? And you always use the native android, are you able to get your text message on it?
I stick with the Google system a lot. For calls I use the CarPlay, basically I always connect my phone also for charging so CarPlay is running in the back, but barely use it. 😊
This makes me more convinced on how important it is that car manufacturers either license technology or have a very good engineering/software team to ensure simple tasks like these are available hands free. If you're going to remove buttons from a car, you need a very comprehensive suite of items that are easily turned on/off via voice commands
Actually it's not very different from what you had with Sensus, except it was not voice, but only button controlled. No trunk, sunroof or windows control, unlike other (not premium) brands have. Some other Google stuff/information you can get directly from Android Auto if you have an Android phone. With Android Auto you also get access/control of other apps that are not fully available in GAS system, like WhatsApp, Samsung Music, Waze (with voice control), etc. GAS still has a long way. Google could at least make Android Auto available until the system gets more reliable.
