I personally find what the Covenant did on Draco III to be really fucked up. Glassing some of the planet and leaving the rest to be turned into a human hunting ground
You missed a part with glassing where sometimes the ships gun fluctuates so areas get covered over top of with a layer of glass but the surface doesn't actually get affected by the blast. In Halo 5 one of the entries you can find on the glassed planet that you go to is of one of the surveying teams coming to one of these bubbles of un affected glassed over areas and seeing a dog chain that goes from a dog house underneath of the houses porch. And that the surveyor had to leave and take time off due to just seeing that, and he explains how stuff like that happens all the time and they'd often find bodies of people
Great video! I'm a massive fan of your content :D A video idea if you have enough time is perhaps to make a timeline of the major events of the early human-covenant war leading up to Reach? With all of the expanded universe content it's really hard to keep track of just how many colonies humanity actually lost and when.
#1 is the worst because of things like that happening in human history. I love that you brought up lie’s, errors and mistranslations causing atrocities.
The scary thing is many times in history our species have been the covenant. Killing pillaging and commiting genocide in the name of the variety of versions of our own "great journey".
I do find it quite funny though that if the Covenant had eradicated humanity, they couldn’t use any of the Forerunner’s toys and would be instantly killed by most of their remaining defenses.
Sometimes the glassed planets recover. Reach did. And their native moa survived the glassing, it was said in canon fodder it would take centuries to fully glass a planet. Canon fodder also said that moa survived on Reach itself, and in a zoo on Gannick 22 run by the corporation "Have S'Moa". The company got rich overnight because of the glassing, and moa nuggets were changed from a kid's meal to a delicacy eaten only by the richest.
If you guys wanna read that story about the brutes ,(why they ate, tortured humans) it's called "Stomping on the heels of a fuss" from the book "halo evolutions", it goes into vivid detail and also shows the story from The perspective of the brutes aswell as humans. Needless to say it's one of my fav stories from the book.
Wow TOP 5 THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE CARBINE RIFLES CARTRIDGES in all seriousness I totally understand the reason for this type of content Halo news is dryer than a desert right now
Not sure if this has been answered or not yet, but knowing that the higher archs knew what the from mendicant bias makes the story make so much sense. If they knew only humans could activate the rings, they led an extermination campaign against the only creatures they knew could wipe out all life in the galaxy by accident. That would explain why they weren't given an opportunity to join the covenant like so many others before them.
Idk, I feel like both the genocide of the Legolo and forcing them into the covenant and forcing grunts to have sex in order to reproduce are pretty jacked up. They can produce an insane amount of numbers in a short time which is why you'll mainly see grunts all throughout Halo.
It’s just like what Franklin Mendez said in The Fall of Reach about how it is okay to spend lives in war, but not to waste them. The Prophets’ decision lead to so many wasted lives...
The most disturbing thing about the Covenant was during my first week on CE back in the day I'd call them the "Government". And where "Spartan-II" was on the back cover I called Chief a Spartan Eleven.
"50 billion people used to live here" Well being a fan of the *Old* Cods it's actually 50 thousand people used to live here, now it's a ghost town" not 50 billion
Okay, that’s creepy but cool. After watching tons and tons of your videos for probably almost a year now, on this video in particular I thought “Man, nothing beats that intro” And then you mentioned it too
that third point puts a lot into perspective. i always thought truth was delusional, but it makes sense he'd know it's a lie. it explains why he went out of his way to go to the ark instead of pushing to activate delta halo, which would have activated the other halos anyway. he wanted to be outside the galaxy. he claimed he'd be a god because he'd be free to rule over an empty galaxy, no opposition to stop him. this also means truth sacrificed tartarus as a mere distraction. he knew tartarus would fail. he wanted him to. he was already on his way to the keyship when he sent tartarus to delta halo, so he had no real intent of starting the great journey there. it adds a whole new depth to how sadistic the high prophets are
So...Brutes are basically aliens with the personalities of barn cats. You want to see some sadistic shit, watch a barn cat play with a rabbit it's just caught.
I knew there was something wrong with what the covenant believed ever since halo wars. The prophet wasn't helping arbiter achieve what he was looking for, he only helped for his own personal greed
Regret made a horrible decision, and it cost him his life. Mercy was not shown his namesake when he was dying from an infection form's grasp, and Truth died believing his own lies to the bitter end. Isn't it ironic that every single prophet is linked to their own name in death?
Number 2. "Will destroy and vaporize anything it hits. Be it plant, building... *pause* or even Human" Pft what? No way. I'm apparently more sturdy then a building?
Brutes are basically the Orcs and Uruk-Hai of the Halo universe. Cruel, monstrous, cannibalistic, and sadistic, yet horrifyingly intelligent in some cases. Unlike the Orcish hordes in Sauron and Saruman’s service in the lotr films, who were fueled by animalistic bloodlust, the Brutes were fueled by that and religious zealotry and devotion to the Great Journey. To me, that makes the Brutes even more horrifying than any non-parasitic alien species, or any other race of monstrous creatures, seen in fiction.

I'm a massive fan of your content :D
A video idea if you have enough time is perhaps to make a timeline of the major events of the early human-covenant war leading up to Reach?
With all of the expanded universe content it's really hard to keep track of just how many colonies humanity actually lost and when.
big fan :)
Yeah I would like to see that
It takes hundreds of years after glassing to live on a planet again but wasnt Reach lush and fertile way before that?
COVENANT NATIONAL ANTHEM: "Killing In The Name" by Rage Against The Machine.
#1 is the worst because of things like that happening in human history. I love that you brought up lie’s, errors and mistranslations causing atrocities.
humans
**exist**
brutes:
**mcdonalds for lunch bois?**
"Brutes are extremely sadistic"
*Faber would like to know your location*
"They outnumber us three to one!"
"Then we still have a chance."
“Then it is an even fight”
"All cruisers prepare for battle, burn their mongrel hides."
*"then it is an even fight, all crusier's fire at will, burn their mongrel hide."
*"Then it is an even fight."
yo, HiddenXperia.
could you enlighten us on the top three horrible things the rebels has done?
The scary thing is many times in history our species have been the covenant. Killing pillaging and commiting genocide in the name of the variety of versions of our own "great journey".
The third one made me actually, shed a tear.
I do find it quite funny though that if the Covenant had eradicated humanity, they couldn’t use any of the Forerunner’s toys and would be instantly killed by most of their remaining defenses.
He protecc, he attacc
but most importantly...
He have a quick snack.
Snacc*
Wow TOP 5 THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE CARBINE RIFLES CARTRIDGES in all seriousness I totally understand the reason for this type of content Halo news is dryer than a desert right now
L33TBrownGuy Top 5 Fortnite UA-camrs who've sworn
XD
Darkeagle Studios lmao
Not sure if this has been answered or not yet, but knowing that the higher archs knew what the from mendicant bias makes the story make so much sense.
If they knew only humans could activate the rings, they led an extermination campaign against the only creatures they knew could wipe out all life in the galaxy by accident. That would explain why they weren't given an opportunity to join the covenant like so many others before them.
The Great Journey is a lie
JediSpartan 127
😢why
Silence yourself you filthy fucking heathen! 😜
The cake is a lie
"Soon the GreatJurney shall begin, but when it does the weight of your heresy will stay your feet, and you shall be left behind."
HERETIC !!
Brutes might be unfathomably strong but don’t forget a squad of ODST’s absolutey rekked a Chieftain in H3: ODST.
that's one *ICONIC* ass intro
It is a very recent intro, how is it Iconic yet? maybe in like a year or two or more, but definitely not now lmao
Idk, I feel like both the genocide of the Legolo and forcing them into the covenant and forcing grunts to have sex in order to reproduce are pretty jacked up. They can produce an insane amount of numbers in a short time which is why you'll mainly see grunts all throughout Halo.
Most of the grunts are children as well
You could apply that third one to a lot of Wars tbh. Millions of people dying because a very small number of people in high positions benefit from it
Curios. Is the intro an Elite commiting suicide with two energy swords??
Yep
That intro is honestly the best intro of all youtube you deserve a reward for that and I love your videos and channel
What if the Covenant let the humans join them?
Is a video about that in Spanish is great
4:56 thank you for making that cut
It’s just like what Franklin Mendez said in The Fall of Reach about how it is okay to spend lives in war, but not to waste them. The Prophets’ decision lead to so many wasted lives...
The most disturbing thing about the Covenant was during my first week on CE back in the day I'd call them the "Government". And where "Spartan-II" was on the back cover I called Chief a Spartan Eleven.
The precursors proclaimed the the human was going to take the mantle over the fourrunners.thats why the forerunners exterminated the precursors
4:40 ODST shows glassing as well
"50 billion people used to live here" Well being a fan of the *Old* Cods it's actually 50 thousand people used to live here, now it's a ghost town" not 50 billion
Rare to get any planet with 50 billion on it...
Chris sonofPear Yeah thats 6 earths and a bit.
It was intended as a rough play on words, I too have been playing CoD since 07/08 ;) (P.S. WaW is the GOAT)
HiddenXperia Oh my god, that's the first time a youtuber replyed, and now that I think about that it makes sense that its a play on words
I just replayed that intro like five times. Fecking awesome stuff right there! Never get rid of that!
As an American, I can relate to the covenant. Our leader was chosen based on a lie.
Just as senile as the prophets too lol
opinion before the video: evil aliens
after the video: evil aliens
4:17
HX: Which I’m assuming everyone here has.
Me: *Crying cause I never had an Xbox 360
Edit: Hahaha Xbox One and PC Reach port go brrr
*lays a comforting hand on your shoulder* Don't be sad. I never got to *have* a 360 until 2013.
@@bromodragone8405 Same my guy
Okay, that’s creepy but cool. After watching tons and tons of your videos for probably almost a year now, on this video in particular I thought “Man, nothing beats that intro”
And then you mentioned it too
That's when we notice that Brutes are ONI-vorous
could you imagine a unified militia of human/spartans elites and brutes? I mean Christ that would be terrifyingly efficient in combat if possible
4:10 Glassing was also in Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST
that third point puts a lot into perspective. i always thought truth was delusional, but it makes sense he'd know it's a lie. it explains why he went out of his way to go to the ark instead of pushing to activate delta halo, which would have activated the other halos anyway. he wanted to be outside the galaxy. he claimed he'd be a god because he'd be free to rule over an empty galaxy, no opposition to stop him. this also means truth sacrificed tartarus as a mere distraction. he knew tartarus would fail. he wanted him to. he was already on his way to the keyship when he sent tartarus to delta halo, so he had no real intent of starting the great journey there. it adds a whole new depth to how sadistic the high prophets are
“50,000 people used to lived here... now it’s a ghost town”
The glassing for sure was the worst to me. The way you described it made me shudder a little bit at the thought of it.
this is why i like atriox, he seems just a lot more level headed and more normal then other brutes.
and considerably smarter than the rest of them.
I hope they don’t do the same thing to him they did to that elite in charge of the new covenant
Imagine being so power hungry you’d eradicate all life in the galaxy just to sit on the throne.
What a great video! Keep up the awesome Lore work @HiddenXperia!
The Flood are still not only the most terrifying force in Halo, but probably in all of the entertainment industry.
Totally called #1 from the beginning! I loved Contact Harvest. Great video as always!
Number 2.
"Will destroy and vaporize anything it hits. Be it plant, building... *pause* or even Human"
Pft what?
To me, that makes the Brutes even more horrifying than any non-parasitic alien species, or any other race of monstrous creatures, seen in fiction.
i'm so glad we play as a 7 ft super soldier and not a normal marine in this game
Do you not even tire of saying "Fucked up"?
The meaning kinda gets trampled over and lost when you use it repeatedly
the real most terrifying thing about the covenant is; the fact that the elites are so thicc
