It was up to interpretation, iirc. It wasn't explicitly stated ONI was behind it, Rebecca did theorize that the ONI officer was acting alone. Although the captain of the redhorse didn't buy that. Technically, you're not a numbered section at all. You're the praetorian guard for CINCONI, in a way, and we just call CINCONI's staff Core Four, although it's actually in Core Five of Bravo-6, and DCS reports directly to it.” Given that, is it really any big surprise when most of the regular troops they work with tend to hate when the ONI “Spooks” arrive on the scene with their mysterious hidden agendas. Odds are pretty good that Smith was thrown under the bus by Section 3 to keep the spotlight off them. Even with the general excessive unsupervised freedom some ONI agents have, doubt he could have pulled that off on his own.
15:03 for a time I though that 343 would use these dissidences as part of the banished, The banished offering support and tech to the human rebels looked for me as something about to happen, they even started to say that the Banished receives humans (what they do at least for some time) and this looked like a thing that Atriox could easily exploit against the UNSC, just give weapons to the human rebels to make them fight in equal terms against the UNSC and integrate them into the Banished.
It would be really cool if even some Spartans joined the insurrection, and there would be some Spartan v Spartan combat, with Spartans on each side playing a vital role as the insurrection turns into a full scale civil war.

There is one detail about this period in halo's lore that has always questioned me and has never been throughly explained is what happened to all of Earth's nations. Did they all just collapse or seize to exist when the UEG was formed? It is most likely that they still existed during the Interplanetary wars, but I am not sure entirely what happened afterwards. In other words, I hate that we haven't gotten any spinoff games focusing on this era of halo's lore, and I hope that modders will do what 343 hasn't.
If I remember correctly, when the UEG formed, governments on the state/country level were kept to maintain control over regions of Earth, but were all under the UEG's control. Countries stayed named as well, as in multiple Halo mediums there are continuous uses of names like Africa, Brazil, Australia etc. Hope this helped.
@@Novahri to add on to that I remembered that a few nations merged together, the only example that is mentioned is the United Republic of North America (URNA) which was formed when Canda, Mexico, and The USA merged into one nation, sometime around 2400 (though that beggs the question if the US constitution is still in power there). An entire populated planet getting blown up? An Alien species getting pushed to the brink of extinction after having their home planet blow up? Just a Tuesday in 40k :D
Imagine the UEG allowing for sucession before the Covenant arrived, such an act would weaken the overall defense of human space by letting smaller parts of the greater whole have such a luxury such as "sovereingty" or "independence". An act that would accelerate the downfall of humanity faster than originally.
So basically, the era of the Inter-planetary War era was basically Neo-Fascists, Neo-Communists, UNSC and Neo-Libertarians? This in itself is a fascinating era. It sets up the reason why the UNSC became too Authoritarian centuries later as i'm sure UEG became a mix of all four ideologies, as happens in Politics. Just another reason ONI should become a villain-faction officially and eliminated from existence. The most fitting choice for Human enemies there is for Halo.
That would be lame honestly. ONI isn't meant to be a faction that you can physically fight. They're meant to be an intelligence organization that operates through the UEG, because they're literally a part of the UEG.
@@redaug4212 "You can't physically fight an 'intelligence' organization." Oh indeed, because all that 'intel' just spawns out of thin air and no-one in ONI are actually flesh-and-blood creatures that can be shot and killed. Also, it's impossible for the UEG to declare ONI to be a rogue entity that's LONG SINCE overstepped their bounds. Also also, it's totally impossible to extend this to the UEG directly and make THEM the villains by letting you play from the view-point of the insurrection, perhaps even a defected Spartan. Also also also, you know what's really sad? The fact that it takes no time at all to think this over and realize how easy it would be to do, rather go 'duur, can't fight an organization like ONI, because of daft reasons I can't see past.' Depressing. You can kill all of ONI's war-criminal, humanity-betraying members and you should.
Feels like the war is now in the rebels favor since the Banished scattered the UNSC. But if you are interested, I have a what if story that you may love. Provided you know the Metroid series.
Based off my limited knowledge of halo lore, I was under the impression that the inssurectionists were stationed in the outer colonies. Werent they hurt just as badly, if not worse than the UNSC by thr human covenant war? I doubt they can recover and make any noticeable comeback during the same time the UNSC was recovering.
It is still the same. But my Metroid cross over idea has a surprise twist in it. And a sad outcome why they slaughter outer colonies that try to separate
A Spartan team actually did end up using a nova bomb on a heavily populated sangheili planet after the war ended bc they just never found out that it did lmao
Honestly, if and when we do reach a space fairing/planet colonization age, I can definitely see these forms of conflict potentially arising within humanity’s timeline.
fun fact: the menachite complex on reach in the first book is stated to be able to withstand a direct hit from an 80 megaton warhead. it sounds as tho far isle was carpet nuked with bombs that were probably close to such a magnitude. overkill sure but it certainly would send a message
They already used a NOVA Bomb on a Sangheili colony *after* the Human-Covenant War ended. Though to be fair to Spartan Gray Team, they were deployed before the war ended, and didn't even know it ended until after the deed was done.
@@thecatfather857 The Sangheili glassed dozens of planets (sometimes to the point of the very atmosphere being destroyed) and killed billions of civilians, so you can't really blame people for thinking they deserved it. And it was absolutely justified. Look into it more. The mission was started when the war was still on-going, humanity was on the verge of extinction, and the UNSC (who had no allies until the last few weeks or months of the war) was desperate to at least land a big blow to the Covenant military. The mission was launched to kill Sangheili generals and buy humanity some time. It was one world inhabited by the enemy and the last thing Gray Team heard before losing all contact was that the Covenant had found Earth. The Spartans didn't know the war had ended until later and at the time of the nova bombing they thought humanity was about to be wiped out.
This is why Lord Hood shouldn't have returned the role of civil governance from the UNSC to the UEG, cause they became more oppressive even years after the Human-Covenant war ended.
Bruh aren't the Spartan II's walking war crimes like kidnapping children and replacing them with flash clones was hella dirty... Then to literally kill like 90% of the "recruits" through surgery and augmentations is wild like maybe not a warcrime persay but definitely morally reprehensible 💀😶😅
Most likely not. This game is fiction and very little can be taken from it when predicting the future realistically. It's a great story and lore but still sci Fi. In the future people would be self enlightened, long living, and hyper intelligent. The galaxy is big. If you simply don't like someone you can just go somewhere else untouched by anyone. That and in reality if ftl isn't capable then a large centralized power wouldn't exist beyond a solar system at most. It would take hundreds of years to go from star to star. Whole cultures would change in that time. Empires had problems with a lot shorter times like the British empire and age of sail.
UEG: Tell me, have you ever heard of Hiroshima? Far Isle: n- no UEG: Funny, cuz I expect to hear the same from the next colony when I ask them about Far Isle
The Havock tactical nuke is smaller and more percise. Im geussing they used they used the Larger Shiva Nuke just because its greater yeild would be more effective against large spread out targets like an entire planet Just so you know what makes a nuke "dirty" isnt how it detonates but where it does. If the both nukes detonated at the surface, it woild be more radioactive than detonating at attitude.
At this point, the UEG and ONI need a fire lit under their asses...and sometjing tells me that fire will one day be the Master Chief himself finally goimg full-scale tactical. And in all honesty, humanity needs that now more than ever in the Halo universe.
Generally I try to don't say this when comes to lore, but doesn't anyone else feels like this is a element of weak writing? Can you imagine Great Britain nuking India because they want to independence themselves? It just makes no sense to destroy the very thing you want on your domain, all it's poblation, resources and also the public opinion, it would be understandable to destroy a city, but not the whole planet. Aside the fact they weren't a threat on the first place. If someone tells me this thingy was created during the Halo 5 release period, it would confirm my suspicions, because during that time period 343 was trying very hard to make the UNSC look shady.

Also I'm pretty sure it was the regular UNSC Navy that bombed Far Isle, not ONI.
This is why the Covenant were the good guys.
Warcrimes In halo? That doesn't seem to match the tone.
*loads flamethrower with purging intent*
aw man i forgot the flamethrower exists.
It's kind of ironic since the flamethrower used by the UNSC is apparently meant for clearing brush.
He’s just standing there… MENACINGLY!
Are we the only ones who've noticed so far?
What disturbing about this is if humans can actually build new life in other planet, all of these will undoubtedly happen
Or worse
@@vexile1239How so?
@@ChaseDaOrk3767 "humans are like a virus, they spread to an area and multiply" paraphrasing agent Smith from the matrix
Feels like the war is now in the rebels favor since the Banished scattered the UNSC. But if you are interested, I have a what if story that you may love. Provided you know the Metroid series.
Is the what if story about Halo and Metroid? If so can you tell me the video it’s from?
Based off my limited knowledge of halo lore, I was under the impression that the inssurectionists were stationed in the outer colonies. Werent they hurt just as badly, if not worse than the UNSC by thr human covenant war? I doubt they can recover and make any noticeable comeback during the same time the UNSC was recovering.
It is still the same. But my Metroid cross over idea has a surprise twist in it. And a sad outcome why they slaughter outer colonies that try to separate
That ONI Agent in his room... just staring...
“Most disturbing? Gonna have to be more specific than that bud”- an ONI agent, probably
A Spartan team actually did end up using a nova bomb on a heavily populated sangheili planet after the war ended bc they just never found out that it did lmao
Humanity will never stop fighting each other unless we face an existential threat lol
That goes for just about any civilization-building species.
Even then we didn't fully stop lmao
Love all the new lore content! So cool to hear of the side stories and details that would be sweet to see in some game at some point :)
I need a 25 season long Halo show starting with all this (and maybe even before then)
Remember the nova bomb? Would that be considered a war crime? Blew up a moon and baked a planet.
Honestly, if and when we do reach a space fairing/planet colonization age, I can definitely see these forms of conflict potentially arising within humanity’s timeline.
I wish I had you as my history teacher in high school. I would’ve done so much better 😂
This content is why HiddenXperia is the best youtube Channel of all time 🔥🔥😭
Dammm this is the most related edit i have seen in the day
Your lore Videos are very enjoyable.
"We don't want to live under your evil rule!"
"ok" (drops nukes)
Outstanding video, production value is super legit
I spent the ENTIRE video checking for the ONI Agent... not felt so unnerved for a long time!!
Oni is going to mess with the Flood only for the Flood to pull a fast one on ‘em.
Is no one gonna talk about that dude stood in the back?
fun fact: the menachite complex on reach in the first book is stated to be able to withstand a direct hit from an 80 megaton warhead. it sounds as tho far isle was carpet nuked with bombs that were probably close to such a magnitude. overkill sure but it certainly would send a message
They already used a NOVA Bomb on a Sangheili colony *after* the Human-Covenant War ended. Though to be fair to Spartan Gray Team, they were deployed before the war ended, and didn't even know it ended until after the deed was done.
it was justified the aliens deserved it
@@tacticalmeme732 The Arbiter and his comrades didn't seem to think so.
I don’t think humanity has to worry about colonist uprisings anytime soon. Since nearly everyone is dead and those who ain’t are on earth
AKA the one time the UNSC glass/nova bombed their own colony
This is why Lord Hood shouldn't have returned the role of civil governance from the UNSC to the UEG, cause they became more oppressive even years after the Human-Covenant war ended.
Bruh aren't the Spartan II's walking war crimes like kidnapping children and replacing them with flash clones was hella dirty... Then to literally kill like 90% of the "recruits" through surgery and augmentations is wild like maybe not a warcrime persay but definitely morally reprehensible 💀😶😅
UNITED GERMAN REPUBLIC?! WE DID IT AGAIN? SERIOUSLY???
HOLY COW THAT ONI AGENT MADE ME JUMP LOL
Your lore videos are absolutely phenomenal. I loved learning about this.
Human rights? ONI laughs at such a suggestion.
Edit: Wow the UNSC made ONI look ethical for a change.
Ah, ONI everyone’s favorite war criminal. Can’t trust those spooks.
Would be quite the surprise if the Banished managed to be smart enough to ally with Insurrectionists.
Honestly wouldn’t doubt it, the banished have literally zero reason to fight innies since they don’t have the zealous prophets telling them to
I don't think any Human faction would willingly ally themselves with aliens that openly eat Human flesh and operate Human meat processing facilities.
I know immediately from that into sh*t was going to be real
It's interesting how well CoD actually fits for the background footage due to not having any Halo footage or pictures of these events.
Honestly, this is exactly how I see humanity if we actually manage to break into the stars. Yea it’s depressing, but humanity is psychotic
There was me thinking this was going to be about what Gray Team did to the Elites on Glyke...
UEG: Tell me, have you ever heard of Hiroshima?
Far Isle: n- no
UEG: Funny, cuz I expect to hear the same from the next colony when I ask them about Far Isle
The Havock tactical nuke is smaller and more percise. Im geussing they used they used the Larger Shiva Nuke just because its greater yeild would be more effective against large spread out targets like an entire planet
Just so you know what makes a nuke "dirty" isnt how it detonates but where it does. If the both nukes detonated at the surface, it woild be more radioactive than detonating at attitude.
This man doesn't miss!
Honestly would love a gritty movie of the war leading up to the nuking of that planent
ONI trying not to commit war crimes beyond Smart AI comprehension challenge: Impossible
That is insane, where did you find this?
i love how your friend is just awkwardly behind you in some shots
Imagine doing something so insane that ONI goes "Wait you're serious?". Sometimes I wonder why I side with the flood.
Koslivics and Friedan’s go hard in arma 3
Really hope some of the books we get will start going more into the lore of these colony wars.
At this point, the UEG and ONI need a fire lit under their asses...and sometjing tells me that fire will one day be the Master Chief himself finally goimg full-scale tactical. And in all honesty, humanity needs that now more than ever in the Halo universe.
I love these videos Luke keep it up! Been watching since you streamed halo 2 and 3!😊
Generally I try to don't say this when comes to lore, but doesn't anyone else feels like this is a element of weak writing?
Can you imagine Great Britain nuking India because they want to independence themselves? It just makes no sense to destroy the very thing you want on your domain, all it's poblation, resources and also the public opinion, it would be understandable to destroy a city, but not the whole planet. Aside the fact they weren't a threat on the first place.
If someone tells me this thingy was created during the Halo 5 release period, it would confirm my suspicions, because during that time period 343 was trying very hard to make the UNSC look shady.
love how infinite warfare can be used to represent halo to an extent.
Halo Lore videos just bring life to me
Moral of the story… never give up your way to protect yourself for anyone else
