BACK OUT OVER THE BORDER (JUST) WE BAILED OFF CROSS FELL OUR ORIGINAL DESTINATION DUE TO 70MPH GUSTS FORECAST, AND SETTLED FOR 30-40MPH GUSTS INSTEAD.. SO ANOTHER WILD NIGHT ALTHOUGH WE WERE PRETTY SHELTERED. HOPEFULLY WE CAN GET A NON WINDY CAMP DONE SOON WITH SOME PROPER SCENERY AND COOKING.. FOR NOW WE JUST BID TO SURVIVE THESE WINDY NIGHTS..

It's standard in the wild camping movement to pay a absolute fortune to save a few grams on tents and sleeping bags etc so you can have enough energy and economical savvines to blow the kids inheritance on fine beverages......I am on the lookout for a Tibetan chick because my legs buckle under the weight of Northern Monk if I do a 2 nighter.

Great views from the summit. Its a nice feeling when you reach the top of Windy Gyle and know are legally allowed to wild camp in Scotland. Not that it matters to much to us lads where we camp lol. Let me know if you seen the wild goats on your travels, sheep are boring to look at. You should get a dehydrator, make meals at a fraction of the cost and less weight to. You can dehydrate just about anything, if its wet food like stews and spaghetti bolognese, use grease proof baking paper to stop food dripping through the shelves.
I’m going to start cooking real food as long as it’s decent weather. Aye it’s a great hill top views for miles. And over the borrrrrderrrrr too. Brucey bonus. Wild goats in my new vid. And you get a mention. Cos ye knaar it makes sense. Atb 👍 🤘🤘

Your friend's tent was pitch towards the wind, he should have put the opposit side of the door towards the wind direction.

Bushman would’ve been under the rock pile. Tunnelling 😂 yeah those meals are too much for what they are.
I have to use raybans as I get bad headaches otherwise in the sunlight. Other brands have been tried but only the RB’s work. 🤷♂️ Atb 👍
Your camra put it in ya pocket when not videoing I had the same problem but it was OK this weekend didn't cut out on 50% battery 😎😎
It’s on the tripod. Too big. I keep a spare battery in my pocket like. It’s been ok. It only done it once on this camp. 👍

A long time since I was on Windy Gyle (same kind of weather) a very apt. name, thanks for taking us along, on another subject hope its .o.k. to ask a question of yourself & anyone else who is reading this. Now that Viewranger has firmly slammed the door in our faces have you switched to Outdoor Active?, & if you have what's your impression of it?, I find it ''clunky'' & awkward to use a very poor replacement for Viewranger which was smooth, user friendly & a pleasure to use. I don't think O.A is worth the space it takes up on my phone, does anyone know of any another free navigation software?.. Anyway I have taken up enough of your platform with my moan.

I find it easy to use. Mine seems to be the only one that works 😂 I would welcome the comments too see what others are thinking. OS maps is a popular one but there’s a subscription fee. OA Is free for now I think you get 1 year free then it’s subscription. So I’ll be binning it then. 👍
I stopped using viewranger a couple of years ago as I found it unreliable. I moved back to OS maps, I don't pay any subscription as I use the scratch off codes on my paper maps to get the corresponding digital map free which when downloaded can be used offline. Works really well. Atb Mark.

Thanks Andy, I too am not willing to pay a subscription, good job I still have a pile of laminated maps, [that will be fun] always have one with me, just in case, but haven't actually used on for years. Look foreword to your next outing, & thanks for letting me pose the question Roger
@@markmurphy7356 Hi Mark, thanks for that I didn't know you could get a free digital version with your O.S. map, [I haven't bought a map since Foot & Mouth 2001 when I bought Dark Peak as the Peak District opened up before everywhere else], does the digital O.S. use the phones G.P.S & give you your position ? .

@@rogerackroyd2150 Hi Roger, yes the phone's GPS is used to give your position on the map, just works like a standard GPS unit, no Internet coverage required. Obviously the outlay is to buy the newer maps that have the digital download code, but I always carry a paper map anyway so it's just a bonus really.
