Unlocking Hidden Depths: My Transformative Journey to New Horizons

- As I return to my sailboat, named Wahine, a Gib Sea 402, moored in the middle of a deep inlet on the remote island of Amami, I can't help but feel a sense of trepidation. For the first time ever, I feared for her safety as Typhoon Kahnun lingered over the island. While I'm relieved to know that she survived and is still afloat, the true extent of the damage remains unknown. My mother's presence feels palpable as I prepare Wahine for the next leg of my adventure, and I can't help but wonder what she would say if she were here with me today.
Check out the new Channel: Cruising Japan in a Sailboat, as I will gradually post the coordinates and tips for the 60-plus ports I have moored so far. Nothing splashy, just bare information for those who are interested.@SailingJapaninaSailboat

A wonderful tribute to your mother 🥰.
I was quite surprised that you left so much on deck with a typhoon due, but then everything seemed to be fine 👌.
Great video, thanks ⛵️
Thank you so much!
Thank you for sharing such a moving and inspiring video. Wishing you well on the ongoing journey.

First time visiting your channel. You do a beautiful job narrating. I’ll be back. May your mother rest in peace.
Onwards you go.

I found your video very moving. The homage to your beloved mother equally tender. Her wisdom words seem very pertinent for me today. Stay safe and well dear brother.
Wow, thank you Eddie. Thanks for watching and your thoughtful comment

Sorry to hear, you had a lovely Mom🎉
You are so kind
Beautiful. You mother's spirit lives on in you and your quest. I was honored to know her. Peace.
Thanks my friend
Nice thoughts. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Hi, Lowell .. your wonderful mom "Miss Greta" was a tour de force for the Kingdom. She touched so very many lives with her grace, love and wisdom. I loved her, and we will see her again soon!! ♥
Thank you
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your Mother Lowell. Beautiful words though, I'm sure she'd be proud. Sail on my friend!
Thanks . I trust all is well with you
That was moving.
Thanks a lot Jon
Sorry to hear about your mother. Are you still planing to sail across the Pacific ?
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Yes I still aspire to crossing an ocean by sailboat. Tokyo to vancouver is no longer the draw …
Again I am sorry for your loss. Also sorry you are giving up your dream of sailing to Vancouver. You are very well prepared for that trip and have the boat to do it . I have sailed solo to Hawaii five times. The last trip was three years ago and I made a solo circumnavigation at 65, so I know a bit about crossing oceans. I wish you luck and fair winds.
Thanks for the reply. Wow … I have things to learn from you .. crossing is still the aspiration but maybe a different route, different direction and different boat … some things in the works but given the uncertainty not saying much at the moment … your story spurs me on .. thank you
Lowell, I think Wahine is a fine boat. I sailed to Hawaii in a 24 ft, 25 ft, 27 ft, and 29 ft boat. People have done it in smaller. I circumnavigated in a Cascade 29. My equipment list was a VHF Radio, wind vane , hand held GPS.
and a sextant. I now have a 32 ft boat with enough electronic equipment to launch a space shuttle, most of it unnecessary. I am now 89 and with luck I plan another trip to Honolulu.
Inspirational! Thanks for sharing that with me. You have a lot more experience than I
