It’s more fun to fight them all at once though. Like Penance is technically tougher but ends up being really boring to fight because he’s impossible to beat by conventional means so you just have to cheese him. The fight with the Dark Magus Sisters is always evolving and feels much more strategy based. Same with Nemesis and Dark Bahamut.
@@timyac Speak for yourself. Penance without killing the arms is *by far* the hardest, most engaging, strategic and IMO fun (if you like that kind of challenge) battle of the whole game. Only real issue with it is that you really need Ribbons against Tera-Graviton which is a serious grind if you're not willing to just save-edit them in.
I actually downed Zodiark the first time facing it. The spell animation limit in the original 12 worked wonders against him, i used some scythe motes and some other big attack items to lock him out of casts and just kept smacking him and this was something i discovered with pure luck. I tried him later on in TZA like a year ago and got completely annihilated
Zodiark seems like that one kid who refused to accept loss. "Well _I_ have anti-punch armour that reflects the attack at you! And anti-magic armour! And I can kill when I want!"
Shinryu was really a weird thing for me. Since the Coral Ring lets me absorb Tidal Wave and it always starts with that, I basically used him as a healing spot with a thief and someone fast in my party at all times, letting me try to spam-steal the Dragon Whisker whip while trying to find Movers
@@hillwin10 I think he means he would absorb the water attack, attempt a few steals for the Dragon's Whisker, then flee before Shinryu started wreaking said havoc. You can run from Shinryu with Flee and reset the encounter. So you can farm him for the Dragon Whisker if you feel like it.
In general FF12's esper battles range from easy, to manageable, to hard depending on what level your party is. In my first playthrough it was definitely Zodiark and Chaos but in my recent playthrough it was Cuchulainn. The sap field, his little flan minions, and constant status inflictions (particularly sap + invert + potentially disabled healers) led to many retries. If you didn't have the right gear and try to get him early he's super hard. Not a super boss but neither is Zodiark. I'd say the 5 judge battle was the hardest super boss in that game but that belongs on a list of "7 Super Bosses you Definitely Never Reached the First Playthrough"
Cuchulainn really is tough. I played zodiac age using no gambits and doing everything myself just for fun, and cuchulainn was the only one I remember me having to give in and put two or three gambits on to heal status effects, because I couldn't keep up with how fast he was inflicting them. It was impossible to keep up without a gambit.
Cuchulainn, while not the toughest boss in the game, is certainly one of those bosses that will usually beat you the first couple of times you fight him, even if you are familiar with the game and have fought him multiple times. Between his HP Down field and ability to inflict disease, invert, immobilise/disable, it is way too easy to have a well pre-prepared battle plan fall apart and be stuck on the defensive. My first playthrough of vanilla FF12 I couldn't beat him until I got my party up to level 70, and he gave me more trouble than Zeromus, and even now I usually have to have my party 55-65 to guarantee success. Played Fran only, and even with allowing myself to summon Exodus I think I was level 63, over eight attempts and extremely lucky. Definitely should have been higher than Trial #42.
Those damn 5 Judges is the only battle I've never beaten in the game (or superboss in any FF pre-13). Why??? Because I hate using internet tips if possible, only classic strategy guides at most. Every other boss became a cakewalk, but after a few frustrating deaths I had to walk away. I'll get them one day. Oh yes, one day.
Little fun fact for Shinryu in FFV, he’s weak to the berserk status. So you could inflict Berserk on him and he won’t be able to cast any magic. He would still do very high damage, but he would lose the ability to use AoE abilities. That’s how I beat him.
Except in FF5 your better off NOT berserking him its just faster to try to get 8 Dragon Lances equip Free Lancers/Mimes with 2 each master Ninja and use Jump to kill it in FF5 IN 1 turn beside Golem won't even last for 1 HIT against Shinryu so your still better off using the BLIND MIX against it AFTER you berserk it.
You don't even need golem, you can make a character with Cover and the genji equipment(mainly shield), then mini them and they have 99% evasion. then you berserk shinryu and laugh because he can't hit you once you res your other team members as they're in critical.
@@kalierdarkekd This is the kinda stuff I love about FF turn-based combat. All the hilarious ways, unique ways of winning. Shame they went the easy road and made FF action.
I don’t remember Zodiark being too difficult, however Omega Mark 12 shoots its attack so fast that 2 seconds after I’m in range I need to start a healing train until I’m ultimately dead.
For 1st time players maybe, people who did not read guides or walkthroughs, i remembered my 1st time fighting him and boy o boy the amount of frustration i got from fighting that child and also reverse is love reverse is life...
I personally had more trouble with Disma than either of those two... Disma just always comes out of nowhere for me when I'm at my worst and proceeds to lay waste to me. The other two? I don't remember particularly struggling with at any point.
Does anyone else find these cathartic? I feel enamored with the same feeling I used to get when looking for those secret crazy bosses or enemies, finding all the best weapons, armor, etc. It's just such an awesome feeling, definitely inspires adventure in the heart
Severely underrated. I think the story is it’s achilles heel. Not a lot of players are into politics. I love the game mechanics, and the gambit system rocks. You start the game with a lot of button mashing, but once you get the gambit system set just right… you just hammer through the game. That is until you reach a foe that you need to re-think your paradigm.
Dark Bahamut in ffX will always haunt me, see i live in the UK, and the US did NOT have him so any guide i followed did not mention him... so imagine my shock when i find him there because i forgot the sodding Sigel!!!
I'm glad we have that in common. I didn't know dark aeons existed and when that cutscenes happened, I thought my game glitched. I felt confident for all about 15 sec... Lol
Same for me except with Dark Valefor. I didn't get the destruction sphere in Besaid so when I went back for it I got shitstomped. I had to kill her to get Anima.
@@andrewgilbertson6683 even worse, want Aurons ultimate Overdrive? yeah you need to go back to Besaid and i don’t think you can backtrack all that way when you unlock those Spheres.
Worst part about anima is having to farm Ribbon for the entire party, after that the fight is not really that hard. Like most of super fights in FF X since u can max out every stat in the game. FF X the difficulty of those fights depends on how early u want to try them
Finally fantasy 12 was amazing the fighting, the summons needing to be killed before you get them, the hunts. It was so fun to play as a kid with a walk through book
When you realize that Ruby gets absolutely bodied by Hades, it almost takes the fun away from beating it. Hades to stun lock him and then spam KOTR and that boss goes down like a sack of bricks. I remember being 8 and trying everything on it and when Hades came out and he just stopped moving for like 3 minutes I was like NO FUCKING WAY.
@@veghesther3204 LOL how is Hades useless when it literally stun locks Ruby Weapon into not being able to do ANYTHING basically the entire fight? You’re so stupid lol. Hades makes that fight trivial.
I never got a game over in either version of FFXII until Trial 86, mainly because of the VERY forgiving system of being able to bring in your backup party if your first 3 characters died (if only other RPGs did the same). Zodiark was definitely a tough fight but getting to it is just as difficult, so it's rare to get there underleveled. Trema is another one where if you've made it to the bottom of the Via Infinito and beaten Paragon, you're probably ready for him, and he's arguably easier than most of the encounters up to that point (especially Chac).
When I fought Zodiark in the OG game on the PS2, he was a nightmare, hardest fight in the game hands down. When I fought him in the "Zodiac Age" recently, I went in fully prepared, and he was dead before I even realized it. Such a strange turn of events.
I had KoTR usaable against FF7's CARRY ARMOR and will never fight that require boss without it so Emerald/Ruby weapon are a total joke to kill Ozma's easy even if its 100% luck based to NOT have his Meteor do 9999 to all or having Curse 1 shot the party or have it USE BOTH.
and while the PS4 remaster has a Infinite HP cheat I never took 9999 damage against Ruby weapon you can still LOSE the fight SOLO against it If you do NOT have a Ribbon equipped before the fight.
Ha, I remember stumbling upon ruby weapon. I was walking towards the gold saucer when I saw something poking out of the sand. I thought it was some kind of glitch… then ruby weapon jumped out. Holy hell, I got wiped out immediately. I only did a few thousand damage to him before game over. It took me about a week to figure out how to beat him.
Zodiark was always brutal, specially in earlier playthroughs as younger me had no idea about the consequences of dispelling Reflect. However, I never wiped to it - so yeah, I did beat Zodiark the first time. :D
Trema is very easy once you know the trick: Three lv 99 mascots and spam Yuna's Moogle Cureja and Paine's Cactling Gun under the effects of break HP and break damage limit. Let Rikku spam buff and de-buff items. He'll go down like a sack of spuds.
mascots were my strategy in the original release. The international version made every fight a joke with the Pokemon style party members striking for 99,999 damage every hit.
I just tanked Trema, switching between a couple of dress spheres I can't remember the name of right now (I remember one was a "shadow knight" one) and whittled away at his high HP with catnip. A long fight, but not difficult when you know what to expect and having the timing down.
I beat yiazmat first try (original 12 release. Not zodiac age) even with only half my party leveled pretty high. It took about 2-3 hours but thankfully i had some really good gambits set up. So glad you chose the actual much harder boss from 12 lol
yiazmat wasn't ever hard if you had a few levels, just took an annoyingly long time. gambits made 12 auto game for me so i was pretty buff by the time i got to him. i found a secret area that spawned endless waves of zombie warriors so i used that to level
Normal game Yiazmat isn't hard because you can literally leave, save, go do other stuff, restock on supplies, etc. and he keeps his damage. Yiazmat in TZA's "time attack" mode thing (can't remember what it's actually called) is WAY harder, despite the significantly lower health value.
By the way, Kudos to you using FuzzFinger gaming's content. The guy is really passionate about Final Fantasy (and most games on his channel) and definitely deserves some more attention due to how often he responds to his fans and comments.
I remembered using all gunner set up on the original, all of them had guns+darkshot and i just stood outside on the stairs and sniped him to oblivion, every time he took one of my members out with death i just used phoenix downs to put them back in the fight instantly, took me i think about 2-3hrs though
9:25 it's not just US players playing the HD/International version for the first time. I remember when I first got FFX on PS2, after a while I started reading guides to do things like unlock all the overdrives. I wandered into Besaid after spending a while grinding in the Omega Ruins, only to be annihilated by Dark Valefor when I got to the gate. What those guides neglected to mention was the PAL version was based on the International release. On the plus side, I didn't have to import another copy and mod my PS2 to fight the dark aeons and Penance.
Zodiark is similar to Ozma in that it's essentially rng how the fight goes even with good planning. Although he is unique in that he's the only one that can't be planned against with his rng. Omega is a non entity with Wither stacks. Yiazmat is simple with good gambits and a quick hand on reflect phase. And there is a clear specific path to victory with judges. Zodiark can just choose you lose if he feels lucky.
Weiss is probably my favorite FF boss (to fight), at least the ff7R for sure. It's actually easy if you blitz him the right way. Great fight that feels really good to overcome and requires a deep understanding of the battle mechanics.
Forgot the name but I would add some of the bosses in Final Fantasy Tactics that came directly after the game asks you if you want to save. There were multiple instances where I had a to completely start brand new save because I was severely underleveled and the save point made it impossible to backtrack and farm.
5:58 The final Feral Chaos fight in Dissidia was the most fun I've ever had in a 3D Arena Fighter. After I beat him I started using CWCheat to set enemy HP to 120,000 for normal fights. As an aside, the Jade Dissonance Feral Chaos halfway through Scenario 012 was far and away the hardest fight in the game for me. I deliberately set my character's levels relatively low and consequently couldn't get strong gear, and after a minute and a half you just *can't* damage him anymore like that, so I had to dodge like mad and spam HP attacks. Eventually I found the CWCheat code/mod that let's you play as normal Chaos too. Good times. Edit: I also used CWCheat to beat the intro Feral Chaos once. The game still treats it like you lost, even if you win.
One of the neatest things IMO about FFXIV is that a LOT of the superbosses in other FF games can be found and fought in FFXIV. Some of the fights are also available in multiple difficulty tiers.
I best ozma on my first go thanks to the randomness of Phoenix resurrecting the party on a wipe. That was it. No defenses, nothing. Just phoenix giving me an extra life.
Zodiark was a trip to fight. One of my favorite bosses I had to keep a save around for. On Vanilla FFXII on the PS2 I really believe they should put the vanilla version in the Zodiac Age as a DLC, seriously. The game is different and harder, to some like me that can be important. I never played the Zodiac Age but I hear its easier although the characters seem relatively limited by the jobs.
Zodiac age is absolutely easier but still a blast. THANKFULLY, there's a mod that returns the game to its original difficulty and removes jobs. Thank god for modders.
Zodiak is a very funny one to me because i did beat it first time. i had barely any clue about the game aswell, i did play the other parts (7-10) before tho. My dad was pretty lost on how to even get to zodiac so after like an hour he was so frustrated he let me try. found him quite quickly in maybe 10 minutes and proceeded to blast him lol
Idk how i did it but i beat Most of these bosses pretty handily. Zodiark in particular i beat first try on 4x speed because i came back to Zodiark before Sky Fortress Bahamut after ive gotten most of the best weapons/accessories/armor (that dont require godlike luck or RNG manips) and had some pretty thorough gambits set up. Feral Chaos stumped me as a Manikin @lvl 97 more than the lvl 130 version for like 3 months as an 12 year old haha.
You got one thing a bit wrong about Ruby Weapon, which is the reason you have so many videos of a party with two downed characters: Ruby would remove two characters from the board at the beginning of battle only, which is why people would start with unconscious characters they could revive. Also, and unforgivably by the developers, Ruby Weapon was invincible until he put his claws in the ground. I stress-tested this with Knights of the Round. They made the encounter deliberately this way, basically cheating in the monster's favor. However, I also learned of his weakness quite a few years ago from a friend and beat him later on.
Although not technically a FF super boss, Alpha Weltall after Deus in Xenogears is another super hard fight that you're supposed to lose, but can be beaten with the right strategy (and luck), he even has a chance to drop a unique item if you beat him! (Not 100% drop rate unless you get another item from a previous boss which is also not 100% drop rate...) You also have to pick up certain items from a shop in disc 1 that you don't know that you need for a later fight, and they are very expensive as well, but miss getting these and the shop restocks the next time you get to it. 😅
The last bit of time I spent playing Dissidia 012, I was doing single character challenges with Feral Chaos. Normally at the end of story mode, you're given a party of 5 and as one falls they get replaced but any HP dmg they did to Feral Chaos was saved. (He had like 120k HP). I managed it with quite a few characters like Cloud, Sephiroth, Cecil, Firion, Terra, WoL, Garland, Golbez, and Gilgamesh. Was a fun challenge with the fights lasting anywhere from 8 to 15 minutes.
I don't remember having problems with Ruby, then again I was hideously overlevelled. I tend to farm for the best items for my party and getting all the ribbons and levelling all the materias to max had taken some time (Don't even get me started about breeding the Golden Chocobo). So yeah Ruby was no problem... Emerald was. Ruby was sitting in that desert area, Emerald you had to fricking find/chase with the fricking submarine :(
I remember I had to get back to a town or something in FFX, and I needed to get through the area with the Magus sisters. The bastards completely cut me off, as I could never run past them. I don't even remember why I needed to get past them (this was years ago), but I remember pulling my hair out trying to do it.
If it was truly X then you were trying to probably get the pieces to obtain them for your party since the only person who has access to them before you is the summoner who gives Yuna advice each time she gets a new Aeon (she is also the one that has Yuna test fight them against her own). If it was X-2, then you were at the end game stage and maybe you didnt have the right kits to beat them at that time so you just kept getting wiped.
@@LovelyLina034 It was X, but that wasn't the reason. I remember I unlocked all the Aeons, including the sisters. I think it had something to do with one of the characters' ultimate weapon, but I'm not even sure of that as I vaguely remember having all the weapons (I know I at least had most of them). Ironically, I was trying to prepare to take on the Dark Aeons and that one enemy from the monster arena that's supposed to be the hardest enemy in the game. What sucks is that I accidently deleted my save before I could take on those enemies. Probably close to 100 hours, if not over that threshold, and it all went up in smoke. I never picked the game up again after that, but one day I'll finish what I started for nostalgia if nothing else.
I wanted to give more info about Dark Yojimbo (and essentially why Dark Bahamut and Anima are harder): While Zanmato hits really hard and removes all beneficial statuses imcluding Auto-life, there is a way to survive it. Have an aeon with maxed defense of 255, teach it cheer (and protect I think) and increase its health to over roughly 50k. After all the setup, go in the fight ans summon that aeon, cheer 5 times, and when you see that guage full, choose "guard" as its action. It will, surprisingly, survive. This strategy, sadly, doesnt work for Anima as her overdrive is multi hit I believe, Dark Bahamut since his countdown flare kills outright iirc, and if you fight the Dark Magus Sisters together, their overdrive is also multihit, though they can't do it if even only one is down. Essentially you could use an Aeon throughout the whole fight with Dark Yojimbo all 5 times. Side note: Almighty Shinra, while still technically a superboss since Vegnagun was easy, can be absolutely devastated having a fiend with high attack stat, learned Quick Attack and "taught" to only use it, with Spellspring, and auto-haste. The fiend attack animation must also be fast. The gun snakes are an example. Sounds like a lot of set-up, and kinda is, but setup in FFX-2 is easy compared to other FF games in my opinion.
Catnip was obsolete because they added the berserk status, so the equipped could only auto attack. However, the thief jobs attack hit twice. So that, with haste rendered it still a good strategy for tremma
Weiss, I streamed be fighting him and it took 2 days for me to finally get the strat right to take him down. When it happened on the second day I was so caught off-guard. Had to change my entire stream plans.
I did Ruby with final attack-phenix(1 use)(havent thought this through but got lucky the correct one was thrown out and the other one died so I was left again with Cloud), HP-plus, mime, 2xobject(no dublication), counter with an attack materia(4xcut wasnt working iirc) and rest with counter materia(I think it was five), best weapon and armlett was equipped together with a ribbon. All I did was mime my conters or Omnislash, the fight took me about an hour.
I'm happy to say I'm one of the 2% of people who actually managed to beat Wiess. Just looked up a good strategy guide, and tried again and again until I was able to get it.
Im very proud that I managed to kill all 4 WEAPON bosses in FF7 waaay back in -97, before internet and all its spoiler tactics xD, did the same with Ultimate and Omega in FF8 (and FF10) and ofc Ozma in FF9. After FF10 I kinda lost interest in FF but I do return to those four from time to time :)
9:00 Penance would have been the better choice, or maybe the Sisters. Actually, also Dark Anima. Those three super bosses even while maxed I lost a couple of times. But I definitely beaten Dark yojimbo my first time. In fact, I barely remember all the other Dark Aeons as they were push overs for me. But definitely Penance should be on this list. Even with full knowledge and the best set up, I still lost more than 3 times.
Ah yes, Feral Chaos. I remember being so excited when I actually unlocked him as a playable character, he became my main over Cloud for a good while. It was a reward well worth it in my opinion, he's a lot faster than he looks and all his attacks hit many times over. Never beat him on that first intro to him though so if you did, I salute you.
Regarding the Dark Yojimbo fight, you can use your summons as a sacrifice to negate the first attack, then with the cap removed, use Entrust on either Wakka or Tidus, this will end the fight.
If I had to choose a ridiculous boss I don't think you've covered before, it would probably be Magic Master from FF6. Just really unreasonably hard if you don't know what you're in for. However, similar to others you've talked about, if you go in knowing what to expect and have a plan (or follow an online guide), it can be a pretty trivial fight. Still, I wanted to pick one from my nemesis, FF6, and I figured that side-boss is one of the most difficult in the World of Ruin. There are probably others, but FF6 needs more love in this video series imo.
I have beaten Ruby Weapon (7), and Omega (8). What made me revisit Ruby was a prank video of FF7. I thought it would be interesting to see if my old party could do it. Yup, but since my corral was full, no new gold chocobo. I was well aware of the Dark Aeons in X because of research when it came out, but I never could figure out how to make it playable with my budget, so I never had the chance. I thought about trying now, but I don't really have the time to push through on my switch. I haven't really been involved with Final Fantasy since 10 for adulting reasons. But I have gotten my FFT parties to 99 in my spare time on occasion.
I'm not sure if it counts as a Superboss, but Shinryu's appearance in FF11 at the end of the Abyssea mini expansions was pretty damned epic. And also goddamn near impossible if you didn't know what you were doing - hell, even if you did he could be an insane challenge. Most players (myself included lol) would typically opt to just using a Primeval Brew, which more or less granted you God Mode very briefly but even THAT wasn't a guarantee because Shinryu could suddenly start absorbing the damage instead of you weren't careful, and those Brews were very, very expensive and you couldn't carry more than 1. I've beaten his FF5 version, Ruby and Dark Yojimbo, haven't done the others (Zodiark is such a nightmare) but Weiss is absolutely on my to-do list before Rebirth comes out and is much more manageable than you may think. People have solo'd him with Tifa. *EDIT: Honorable mention goes to Rani, also from the Abyssea expansions. OMG she is such a troll I have personally seen her wipe entire alliances in seconds.
I only beat Dark Yojimbo by paying Yojimbo to use Zanmato five times, calculating the minimal amounts of Gil each time to get a probability bump. It still took six days.
I would just like to say, I am one of the 2.5% of people that has the Corrupter of the Immaculate trophy. It took me 3 hours but I eventually found a strategy that did it. Don't ask me what it was because I forgot xD. I just know Tifa was the main and you could beat him in like 3 minutes if you pulled it off. I personally am of the opinion that they only made Weiss and Nero so tough in Intermission/Intergrade to get back at all the people who didn't like Dirge of Cerberus lol.
I remember Ruby weapon for being my toughest challenge during my high school period, so much in fact that became sort of a nemesis for me. To make things even worse, I didn't have internet back then so I didn't know that you could actually bring the whole party into the fight. As a result, I ended up defeating Ruby, yes, but (unwillingly) doing the Cloud solo challenge xD When I found out the method to have the whole party into the fight I almost smashed my head against the wall out of frustration
2/3 of my picks for hardest dark aeons were on this list, the last one that wasnt mentioned was. dark anima, i fought her for around 2-3 hours and then just gave up. she will also petrify and shatter your party, if i remember correctly
@@fluffyflare578 most definitely, such an intense fight. More so than the others imo her statuses are brutal. I was definitely underpowered, but I was holding my ground. I could have stayed till completion, but I wasn't sure I would feel good about beating her in around 4 hours xD said I'd come back. She didnt kill me that time, I closed app I think. To sleep lmao
@@justadude8893 I agree. Only two others gave me as much trouble which were Dark Bahamut and Yojimbo. The Magus Sisters I fought legit (all three at once) and only attack that mattered was their overdrive which summoning took care of.
I actually did beat zodiark first try blind.... because it was so "hidden" that I basically didn't encounter it until I was already preparing for the full end-game and ended up so ridiculously overprepared it was kinda ridiculous. ...which was also my experience with the vast majority of "major" bosses in 12, and is why I actually found the game way harder in the zodiac age re-release, as I actually fought most bosses at an actual, appropriate, power level, instead of going there with my max level, max boarded, min-maxed, ribbon farmed, ultimate weapon party like I did the first time through the game.
funny thing about feral chaos is your not wrong took me forever to smoke that guy and i say smoke because when i finally beat i had faced him so many by then that i took no damage during the fight
here a guy that defeated Trema. I remember how super ridiculous difficult it was to even get to this boss. And from what I remember, the item Catnip, one could only get when defeating Trema. At least that is how I got Catnip back then. So as you can imagine, the fight without Catnip was nerf wrecking. After defeating Trema, I didn't even understand how to use Catnip and just disregarded the item as nonsense. Until one day I figured out how to make best use of it... and it was glorious, lol. Btw... Angra Mainyu should be featured too! That was right up there with Trema.
A nice trip down memory lane, honestly I was worried Square lost their touch for super bosses but my recent struggles with the super bosses in KH3 DLC changed that, think I beat two of them my first try. Rest have been taking between 10-30 tries…. Which now is getting excited how that will translate to super bosses in later parts of FF7R.
There's a whole lot of RNG involved with Zodiark's Darkja/Instant Death spam; it's pretty easy to get TKO'2 right off the bat. I beat Shinryu first go, but I fully maxed my squad's jobs by that point and had the best equipment in the game. I can't wait to fight Wiess. It won't take too long since I already plat'd the PS5 version of FFVII Remake.
I remember wanting to go peacefully to Besaid village, only to be called heretic and get my ass beaten by a random dark Valefor that I subestimated Not even Magus sisters or Yojimbo surprised me as Valefor did, of course, ended up farming Yojimbo and the rest, but that first impression will remain on my heart
yeah i heard about the dark aeons before i played the hd remaster so i had alot of grinding before i even went to fight any of them. stomped everyone up to bahamut, leaving baha, anima yojim sisters penance, then more grinding till i was maxed stats and still couldn't beat penance, and no i will never use zanmato on him til i beat him legit. i did have to use zanmato on dark bahamut one playthrough because i went down the wrong stairs and saved, forgetting to get tidus' crest
I'd just like to give a nod to Chac from FFX-2. Not only does she hit extremely hard with massive physical attacks and Heaven's Cataract, she can turn you to Stone EVEN IF YOU ARE IMMUNE TO IT. You practically need Cat Nip + Gunner Mode, Lady Luck flinching, or Bribe + who-knows-how-many gil to beat her regular version on floor 80 of Via Infinito. Because of this, most people (including myself) recommend you Oversoul Chac when you face her in that fight. That way you won't have to worry about Heaven's Cataract or getting stone-shattered. The worst part? She shows up as a RANDOM ENCOUNTER from floors 81-84, AFTER you beat her on floor 80. That means you either need to run far, far away from her, or be ready to rinse and repeat the tedious process of beating her AT ALL TIMES! The real complicated part is that on floors 81-99, you could instead run into an Elder Drake, Mega Tonberry, Mushroom Cloud, or any other cheap monster as a random encounter. DO NOT sleep on Chac, guys.
Having just done a platinum run of FFX and opted to not Zanmato everything. None of the bosses in FFx are difficult at all. The only annoying fight was Penance purely because it was just a long fight where you repeated the same thing over and over again. Dark Yojimbo was a piece of cake. You beat him until his overdrive bar was maxed, then you summoned an Aeon when it's Dark Yojimbos' turn. Wiss was a complete nightmare. Fortunately, I managed to save my kill video xD
I had to resort to spamming Yuna's Bahamut to defeat Feral Chaos in DDF 012. It took a long while but worth it. Mega Flare in tandem with Chaos's arena and Feral Chaos's sheer size made him a sitting duck. Is it a cop-out strategy? Sure. Did I have much of a choice? Not really. The first character I mastered was Kain and he was struggling. But no one can say I didn't try to beat him before resorting to Yuna.
To be fair, I never really considered Ruby Weapon a particularly difficult boss, however the only reason why I never beat it (tried once and didn't try again) is because I was literally bored out of my mind by the fact that the battle was lasting forever due to its insane HP (and yes, I was dealing decent damage to it). To me this is saying a lot because I fought Skull Dragon from FF VI Advanced, which required you to beat it after reducing its MP to 0, and I still wasn't bored enough from that long fight that took me a long time to finish (I think 1-2 hours). I'm sorry, but boredom isn't a factor in difficulty, nor a well-designed encounter.
Dark Yojimbo I was able to beat first go. Dark Anima, however. That thing wore me down so many times. And the Dark Magus Sisters before I learned you could run to do them 1v1... ugh. So bad.
I defeated Zodiark literally an hour ago and...damn, it was the one fight I actually had to use Motes outside the Dispel and Hastega ones. I just didn't know what to do at the end, with him spamming those abilities that negates physical attacks and Reflect. And when I attacked with magicks...he suddenly negate that as well. I literally shouted 'Fuck you Zodiark!' when I won.
Learning that you could run away from the Dark Magus Sisters to take them out 1 by 1 was a game changer for that horrible boss
It was today I found out you can do that
It’s more fun to fight them all at once though. Like Penance is technically tougher but ends up being really boring to fight because he’s impossible to beat by conventional means so you just have to cheese him. The fight with the Dark Magus Sisters is always evolving and feels much more strategy based. Same with Nemesis and Dark Bahamut.
@@timyac it's funny because I did 100 percent that game. But didn't know that you can split them. That fight was hard though
You can do whaaaaaaaaat???? That would have saved me countless hours😅
The problem with vanilla FF12's attack queue system is that the game liked to pull that stunt on you, too. A LOT.
Zodiark seems like that one kid who refused to accept loss.
"Well _I_ have anti-punch armour that reflects the attack at you! And anti-magic armour! And I can kill when I want!"
And he isn't even born yet. Bro was so powerful they sealed him as a fetus
???? what are you talking about lol. He starts with tidal wave but then proceeds to wreak havoc.
I *did* beat Zodiark first try.
it took almost 2 hours though. the most epic FF battle I've ever endured.
Kukulele is easy if you have enough remedies and you have party members auto casting it on anyone with any sort of negative status
I beat Zodiark and Yiazmat on the PS2. I couldn't even imagine beating the 5 judges.
Berserk and spam Golem- he’ll never touch you!
@@kalierdarkekd The Matador from Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne approach
I don’t remember Zodiark being too difficult, however Omega Mark 12 shoots its attack so fast that 2 seconds after I’m in range I need to start a healing train until I’m ultimately dead.
Just keep reverse and the ability that makes enemies attack only one character, easiest fight ever.
Yep. Omega mk.12 was unfair.
0 charge time foe his attacks,
Each hit could cause berserk,
Damage above 5k.
For 1st time players maybe, people who did not read guides or walkthroughs, i remembered my 1st time fighting him and boy o boy the amount of frustration i got from fighting that child and also reverse is love reverse is life...
After I learned what reverse did, I spammed it on the party in every boss battle.
Not to mention that Ruby Weapon is the one with the bug where if he does whirlpool a party member and you defeat him, the battle doesn't end
This reminds me I need to play FF12 again . Such an awesome game, mostly underrated
It’s my favorite ff game, story and characters are great
shitty story but unparalled side quests and game mechanics (i personally loved the gambit system)
Gambit system' is the best
FF12 has an amazing setting and world and fun gameplay, the characters were a mixed bag mostly because of Vaan, and the story was kind of meandering.
@@doubletee1320 even geared up he’s a prick, he can ignore the turn order!
The dark aeon are why i grab destruction chests on 1st visit every time i replay ffx lol
Dark Yojimbo is great to grind for Ribbon Armour. Anima and Bahamut are far more deadly and frustrating to kill.
Worst part about anima is having to farm Ribbon for the entire party, after that the fight is not really that hard. Like most of super fights in FF X since u can max out every stat in the game. FF X the difficulty of those fights depends on how early u want to try them
Yea by the point that I was fighting yojimbo I was using him to farm master spheres and most of my stats were maxed so he just fell over
Finally fantasy 12 was amazing the fighting, the summons needing to be killed before you get them, the hunts. It was so fun to play as a kid with a walk through book
I absolutely love hearing the piano version of Final Fantasy 8 Boss fight music. The Gym of the Fayth is also nice to hear as well.
Good video.
Big shoutouts to Weiss! Basically had to solo him with Tifa’s incredible dodging, that was definitely a tough fight
I actually had way more problems with lv. 120 (or something like that) normal Chaos in the first dissidia than 012's Feral.
I somehow managed to beat Ruby Weapon way back on the original PS1 release of FFVII, and even discovered where to take the desert rose. Memories :)
KoTR doesn't even last for 1 HADES summon so hades is still useless.
@@veghesther3204 LOL how is Hades useless when it literally stun locks Ruby Weapon into not being able to do ANYTHING basically the entire fight? You’re so stupid lol. Hades makes that fight trivial.
Lunar Harp was best trade in 1 of every master materia....
The Rose was useless as you essentially already needed a Gold Chocobo to beat Ruby
The music gets me every time! Hearing these classic songs with a twist is just great
Imagine putting Dark Yojimbo on this list when he is easier than Dark Anima, Dark Magus Sisters, Penance and Nesmsis.
When I fought Zodiark in the OG game on the PS2, he was a nightmare, hardest fight in the game hands down. When I fought him in the "Zodiac Age" recently, I went in fully prepared, and he was dead before I even realized it. Such a strange turn of events.
that Zodiark fight was super dope
Zodiark was the bane of my absolute existence as a kid. Jesus, what a fight
In FF7 I had a very difficult time with the hidden WEAPON bosses, and Ozma always kicked my ass in FF9
Definitely Ruby will destroy you if you don't know his mechanics.
and while the PS4 remaster has a Infinite HP cheat I never took 9999 damage against Ruby weapon you can still LOSE the fight SOLO against it If you do NOT have a Ribbon equipped before the fight.
Chac and Paragon are way harder
Love this series. Makes me go through memory lane
I defeated Yiazmat first time but OH MY GOD THAT FIGHT TOOK ME AGES!!!
Took me 45 minutes on 4x speed on the Zodiac age 🤣
Took me about 2 hours on the EU original. Such a sigh of relief when it was over.
Zodiark can just choose you lose if he feels lucky.
what an amazing channel for us ff fanatics. All I do know is watch these non stop and tell my friends to do the same lol
I managed to defeat several of the weapons in various FF titles, but Ruby in FF7 still kicks my arse to this day 😱
Weiss is probably my favorite FF boss (to fight), at least the ff7R for sure. It's actually easy if you blitz him the right way. Great fight that feels really good to overcome and requires a deep understanding of the battle mechanics.
All I know is Ozma cast 'Doomsday' on my party once back in 2000 and I haven't seen it since
Forgot the name but I would add some of the bosses in Final Fantasy Tactics that came directly after the game asks you if you want to save.
On Vanilla FFXII on the PS2
I really believe they should put the vanilla version in the Zodiac Age as a DLC, seriously.
Dark Yojimbo made my life hell.
Although not technically a FF super boss,
Alpha Weltall after Deus in Xenogears is another super hard fight that you're supposed to lose,
but can be beaten with the right strategy (and luck), he even has a chance to drop a unique item if you beat him!
(Not 100% drop rate unless you get another item from a previous boss which is also not 100% drop rate...)
You also have to pick up certain items from a shop in disc 1 that you don't know that you need for a later fight,
and they are very expensive as well, but miss getting these and the shop restocks the next time you get to it. 😅
Ooooooh birthday vid! I'm excited!
I think I remember beating Dark Yojimbo and not really having many problems with him. Probably spammed summons or something.
Weiss, I streamed be fighting him and it took 2 days for me to finally get the strat right to take him down. When it happened on the second day I was so caught off-guard. Had to change my entire stream plans.
Feral Chaos is one of my favourite pranks that devs have pulled on me.
I have to ask was Dark Yojimbo placed #5 because you must fight him five times to beat him? Or was it a lucky coincidence
I completely forgot about Trema/had those trauma scars buried deep until you drudged them up
Ah yes, Feral Chaos.
I just beat Weiss yesterday. It was my last achievement to get in FF7 Remake intergrade. I'm so happy to be part of that 2%.
@@randy8317 that guy huh
Ozma and the weapons are the bane of my existence
The fact that you have to beat Dark Yojimbo 5 times made farming high cost equipment a brease.
Agreed. Plus it was the only way to reference Dirge without having to give Gackt any more money than they already had to for the Crisis Core remaster
I had a rough time with her too. Took about an hour because of Mega Graviton and the statuses.
The Magus Sisters I fought legit (all three at once) and only attack that mattered was their overdrive which summoning took care of.
i had no business messing with yojimbo whatsoever, i was and am still not ready for that fight. bahamut also put me in my place@@fluffyflare578
I still remember beating zodiark on my ng- run, so freaking tough but so satisfying
Neo Shinryu, Nemesis, Hell Wyrm, and Raspatil gave me trouble in their respective games
Weiss was my first and most favorite super boss of my FF series play through
here a guy that defeated Trema.
Is your book no longer available? I would love to be able to get one!
Love Dissidia duodecim and Feral Chaos is A LOT of fun, the true fun is fighting him with just one character.
The weapons are gonna be crazy
@@Storm1Trooper5 Aye I’m looking forward too it!
Ruby weapon gave me the most trouble shinryu beat on my first try a lost of other bosses haven’t fought yet but love to try
Weiss was definitely a nightmare... I spent an entire day trying to beat him and couldn't till the day after.
The dark-aeons in FFX-HD is mandatory? :O
I remember they being optional in the original
Omega from FFXV was one of the most brutal ones I've faced so far. A literal nightmare that I never want to attempt again!
Also buggy as hell, which doesn't help either.
@@flukeditgaming SOOO TRUE! XD
He was terrible you did minimum damaged and you had to stay consisting on the move not to mention one point the area of battle shrink smh
Have one party memeber go in first with a black mask if he or she dies revive and bring in others than its just surviving.
@@sora6748 I've already beaten it, but thanks.
They ended up bringing Weiss back from Dirge of Cerberus? Nice.
I remember wanting to go peacefully to Besaid village, only to be called heretic and get my ass beaten by a random dark Valefor that I subestimated
Not even Magus sisters or Yojimbo surprised me as Valefor did, of course, ended up farming Yojimbo and the rest, but that first impression will remain on my heart
yeah i heard about the dark aeons before i played the hd remaster so i had alot of grinding before i even went to fight any of them. stomped everyone up to bahamut, leaving baha, anima yojim sisters penance, then more grinding till i was maxed stats and still couldn't beat penance, and no i will never use zanmato on him til i beat him legit.
i did have to use zanmato on dark bahamut one playthrough because i went down the wrong stairs and saved, forgetting to get tidus' crest
Zodiark : will you live to see the end
Joke's on you, I beat Zodiark and Trema the first time.
Now the 5 Judges and Chak on the other hand.....
You can Berserk Shinryu after his Tidal Wave. He still hits like a bullet train but that's much more manageable.
But no one can say I didn't try to beat him before resorting to Yuna.
man when i saw zodiark i got anxiety, i finally beat him but certainly not the first time, this was back in the ps2 days
