HUGE UPGRADE: Emotiva Airmotiv T2+/C2+/B1+ vs Polk Audio RTi Series || Setting Up HT Speakers

  • In this video I will be going over the physical differences between the Polk Audio RTi Series (RTi8-Full Tower, CSi5-Center and RTi4-Surround) and the Airmotiv (T2+-Full Towers, C2+-Center and B1+-Surround) by Emotiva. The Polks have been great as HT speakers as it relates to movies but fall short (extremely short) when it comers to listening to music. The Emotiva speakers are definitely a HUGE UPGRADE when it comes to music. IMHO, the C2+, although clearer when it comes to dialogue, has some issues whereas I do not believe it was much of an upgrade over the CSi5.
    I will also be going over how to properly set you tweeter height for you wall brackets and give some tips on setting up other aspects of your HT.
    As always, thanks for watching!

    Love the review on the Emotiva speakers.
    I have been looking at the T3 and C3. Are you using any of their ampS?

    • @rontalley
      @rontalley  Рік тому

      I’m not using any of their amps. Thought long and hard about getting the BasX A3 for L/C/R but I thought it best to see how my AVR (RX-a3070) handled the 7 base layer speakers first. In Pure Direct mode, the T2s sound great but IMHO, they sound even better in Straight mode using the DSP of the AVR. That let me know (or at least “think” I know) that my AVR has no issues driving them so don’t really see the need of adding another Amp. I run my 4 heights off of an external Amp so that might have something to do with it.
      Thanks for watching!

    I upgraded from the Rti8s as well! I went with the RSL CG25s since I wanted three identical speakers behind my screen. Question for you- what kind of sofa do you have? Most three seat sofas don’t recline in the center but it looks like yours does. My room is too narrow for a three theater seats across so I use a dual recliner sofa but I would love to find one where all three seats recline.

    • @rontalley

      Check out my theater tour video. I have all the details in there. These are narrow theater seating specifically made for narrow spaces like ours.

  • @JayJay-jx3zg
    @JayJay-jx3zg 14 днів тому

    Good video! I was looking for someone who did an upgrade like this.
    Question is, is your new setup overkill for your room? I want to do a similar upgrade for my room. It looks similar in size to yours, but I was worrying about going too big.
    I have Polk Signature S60's for L/R, S55 for sides and S20's for rears. The S60's have 3x 6.5 woofers, but the JBL Studio 698's I'm looking at have dual 8" woofers. Similar to your RTI to T2+ upgrade. Then I'll get Studio 630's for sides and rears. I should have done bookshelves for sides and rears the first time.

    • @rontalley
      @rontalley  14 днів тому +1

      Not overkill at all as I was going for clarity over volume. It was totally worth it IMHO. For movies, it wasn’t that dramatic of an upgrade. However for music, this setup blows away pretty much anything that I’ve owned and/or heard. It’s simply amazing. The imaging is spot on and I’m hearing things in songs that I never noticed was there.
      Yep, no buyers remorse here. Now, could I have gone smaller on the mains? Yeah, probably but I didn’t want to have that “what if” thingy going on so I just went all out.

    • @rontalley
      @rontalley  11 місяців тому +2

      T2s are VERY good with music. The Polks were absolutely fine for movie watching. Actually think the CS2 did a better job than the C2+ but might be placebo…
      In the end, the Emotivas offers not just a good “balance” between both movie and music but a great experience with either. I’m super happy with my purchase and have absolutely no buyers remorse. I might have if I went with the T1 and probably even more if I went to the C3+.
      Don’t see any need to upgrade any time soon.
