    you have made an excellent choice. i listened to the sound clips through my AV system (through bookshelf speakers), and the sound was almost magical. palpable. real. reach-out-and-touch real. a huge asset of your LSIMs is that they do human voice beautifully. human voice sounded like human voice. it would have been helpful to have included a FEMALE voice sound clip, but the voice clips that were included were outstanding. if a speaker does human voice well, it will do everything else well. nice job.

    Perfect video for me. I have had the same RTI setup and have upgraded to the LSIMs (707, 703, 702, 706C). I had a ONKYO RZ-720 receiver and have upgraded to Yamaha RX-3070. They are enroute, will post my review once they are in. Thanks for the video!

    New here. Awesome looking room and great sounding too. I was a little bit disappointed by your audio rack though with such a nice looking room. Btw. My two channel system once consisted of Polk's LSi25 towers , and my theatre also had all LSi speakers. They served me quite well over the years. I traded up. Polk has always made good affordable speakers and this does not disappoint either. The first piece you played sounded the best, but I'm more of a jazz , blues, and classical person. Loved the Gregory Porter piece.

      I wish I had recorded it at a higher volume... I posted a follow up video with more samples. I heard a nice setup years ago with LSi25s... Loved the sound and it was a big part in my decision to buy these.
      Yes... my audio rack is ugly... but it's in a closet in my utility room. I stopped trying to keep the wires neat because I'm always adding/swapping equipment.

    This video is what sold me on these speakers one year ago. I found no other live view of them, only written words, which were positive words. Caught them 1/2 off 1 year ago. Still very pleased with these bad boys - music and movies.

      Yeah, I know the idea of "listening to someones else's speakers through UA-cam" sounds pointless to a true audiophile... but just seeing and hearing a quality recording helps me make decisions better than a dissertation with tons of buzz words.

    Not sure if you still check on commy from your video but this video you made was one of the reasons I upgraded to the 707's, 706c and the LSIM surrounds from the rti12's, Csi5 and fxia6's. I'm so happy I did. They are so much more musical and I'm currently running them on a Marantz AVR, soon to add an Emotiva DR3 reference 3 channel amp for the front stage. I know now that I have the last speaker I'll ever need.

    can you do a sound comparison between the old Polk RTi and the new LSIm707 ? Just curious. I am thinking of the 705 as my room is not as big( not as wide). I had Polk's when Matthew Polk was there, but their sound and quality went downhill. These LSIm series are the LSI completely redone from scratch. I think they sound good,but a little steep on price. I have found the LSim705 for $1500 a pair with warranry, brand new.

    nice setup and thank you for the demo using a real audio capture device instead of a cellphone. :) I have the RTIA7s and you're absolutely spot on about the RTI and music. They work for music but not great. Your review convinced me to save up for the LSIm. btw... I'm using an Emotiva amp with 300wpc on the RTIA7s. That amp woke up the RTIs. Upgrade your amp with more current/wpc based on the specs of the LSIm. That will also help bring out the sound. Since your rack is in a separate room you could even go with a pro-audio grade amp...

      I've definitely been considering and amp upgrade. I did bring home a Crown Pro XTi 4002 amp and hooked up the main towers... there was a lot more power available and they sounded great. Sadly the amp wasn't mine and I had to take it back, but I've had the upgrade itch since.

    lol I've had my A7's for a week and the CSI A6 is coming tomorrow. I love the sound of these compared to my other setups. I agree at first I didn't like how music sounded but I started playing around with the EQ through my sound card and further refined it on foobar. Now they sound phenomenal with music. Without using EQ's they were lacking musically but by spending a little time fine tuning them I think they're best bang for the buck.

    The RTi A9s have tight bass, but you have to plug the ports and put some good clean power (and source) to them. They should to be spiked into concrete floor (if possible, or maybe at least something massive to isolate them from making a wooden floor resonate). I have a 200 watts/ch B&K amp (400 watts @4ohms) and Ref 50 S2 hooked to them, with an ASUS STX ii Essence DAC (it made the real difference for the Polks) and it sounds really good with pretty much everything. It's not the same as my JC1s and Kef R900s, but I get zero listening fatigue and am still amazed after 1 year at how good the combo sounds. Before the DAC (and plugging the ports) I pretty much wrote the RTi A9s off as home theater speakers.

    Great demo of the Polk speakers. I am looking hard at them for my home theater and so far its either these or the RTia9's. I would like for the bass to be forward staged rather than bottom but it does sound good through my home computer speakers(Harman kardon). The video sounds good and powerful but also sounds like they could handle more. So after 2 years do you still have them and what's something you have discovered that you would do different. I like the way your room is setup and speaker placement looks to be spot on. How about another video after a good break in point. All of the songs sounded great but I really liked the first one better. Overall very informational and a great video so how about another one..Cheers

  • @stillenballen
    @stillenballen 6 років тому

    Love the set up. I bought some 705s but after seeing yours I decided to get the 707s. The 705's are now for the side channels. I am thinking about getting some 707s for the rear now too. Just wanted to let you know your video is the reason why I am enjoying my lsim's today. You are correct they want power. They want more than they are listed to take. I have read all the mixed reviews online and I have come to the conclusion they are all due to lack of power. I am powering mine now with an ashly mfa 8000 which is 750 watts per channel and let me tell you.. They are completely different speakers. I cant imagine listening to them with anything less after finally hearing them with some high current. I know they say 250 watts but they come to play when you give them more. I have been feeding my 705s with this amp for a while now and they sound good as the day they were new.

    • @uproardiy4355
      @uproardiy4355  5 років тому

      That's a beast of an amp! I'll feed mine more power someday. It's rare that I get to truly max out my current amp. With sleeping babies and all.

    • @stillenballen
      @stillenballen 5 років тому

      @@uproardiy4355 lol that's the truth. I don't even turn mine up too loud, I just like the way they sound with more current. I acquired another pair of 707's for the rear channels, because I'm a crazy person, and I'm using my 705's for the side channels. Another thing I did that completely changed the 707's was add another Ashly MFA 8000. Each 707 is bridged to its own MFA. Each amp will do 750 watts into 8 ohms/channel. So each amp bridged is seeing about 4 ohms per channel which is about 1200 watts per channel. since each 707 is bridged to each MFA, the 707's are each seeing around 2400 watts peak. Of course I would never listen that loud but the sound has come out of its shell, I have never heard a pair of speakers create a phantom image like this ever in my life. I think there is a little unknown secret of the 707's and that is high current, as much as you can give them. I have played around with some pretty stellar speakers and there is no competition after giving each 707 its own amp. If you get the chance to add some monster amps to the 707's, don't be afraid of the numbers, the difference is night and day. Like I said I really don't listen to them too loud, yet they sound so much more in the room like the sound is not even coming from the speakers. The phantom image they are creating now is so real that I ditched my center channel. Btw I'm using a Cx-a5000 so our systems should sound pretty similar as far as prepro's and speakers go. Anyway I thought I would chime in with some of my latest Lsim findings. Hope the kids are well and I hope to see some new content from you soon!

    I wonder how these would compare to the RTIA9 speakers. I know the LSIM line is supposed to be top of the line however, the specs are better on the RTIA9's. Better efficiency, able to handle more watts and has one extra speaker. I have the RTIA9's and power them with my Onkyo receiver 140watts per channel or in pure audio mode (2 front speaker only mode) 200watts each and they sound great. Bass is tight and my highs are crisp, clean and clear. I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video. Great job on the sound quality. Cheers

    • @uproardiy4355

      As long as you have an AVR with pre-outs on it, such as the A1000 series, you can just hook a high quality composite (RCA) cable from the output on the rear of the AVR to the input on the Emotiva (or other amp)
      In my case, I have 3 high quality composite cables going from the Yamaha to the Emotiva (One for Right, center and left)
      Just be careful to make sure you get an AVR and amp that use the same interconnect. Many Marrantz AVR's only output an XLR connection, which may or may not work with the amp you choose.

    You have the Emotiva XPA-3 amp, are you running that to the center channel as well? Did you Bi amp the Front Left and Right speakers?

    • @uproardiy4355
      @uproardiy4355  6 років тому

      Mine is the previous generation XPA-3 Gen2.... so it is 200 watts per channel RMS. I do have the front towers and center powered by the XPA-3. They are not bi-amped, but I do have them bi-wired (2 sets of 12-gauge wire ran from the amp to each speaker, one pair to the woofers, the other pair to the mid/tweeter) I know this doesn't increase the power, but it does effectively double the thickness of the speaker wire.

    At 4:14. What’s the track here? I’ve searched the tracks listed in your description. But sound nothing like this. ? Thanks. You also wanted to go from a movie style speaker, to a more music style speaker, have you noticed any major differences between the 2?

      I'm paranoid about that happening. I bought these speakers because theyre about 100lbs/each and with metal carpet spikes in place, they are really sturdy. Hopefully sturdy enough to resist a toddler.

    Do you still have the 707's? If so, how do you like them? I also, have the Rti A9's and looking to move to them.

    • @uproardiy4355
      @uproardiy4355  6 років тому

      Still loving the 707's.... I don't see myself upgrading for a looong time. You'll definitely hear a difference from the A9's in music. For movies/games, the RTi's were great. These are as good as the RTi's but not drastically different in games/movies. More bass and bit more mid-range clarity. If you have some good lossless music, the LSiMs really excel.

    'bout to order a set with the friends and family discount. Sounds good through my speakers. Do you use an EQ to shape your sound? Did you also purchase the LSiM surround speakers or only the front channel speaker? It's been a year now, so how do you feel about these speakers? Thanks for the demo. It helped.

    • @uproardiy4355
      @uproardiy4355  7 років тому +1

      I am running the front three speakers directly out of my AVR into my Emotiva.... no EQ. I did mess around with the parametric EQ in my Yamaha A1010, but I actually like the sound direct. These seem to be very neutral (which I like) Depending on the source, I sometimes will bump up the bass or lower the treble. 90% of the time I leave the EQ flat and enjoy.
      My surrounds are the FXI A4's (from the RTi Series) So they are a bit cheaper, but they are still bipole/dipole switchable. For surrounds, they are plenty loud and they blend fine with the LSiMs. I'm happy with my choice and saved a lot of money by not upgrading surrounds.
      Hope you like the speakers and glad the demo could help someone. After a year, I'm still really liking the speakers. They have cured my itch to constantly upgrade audio gear (at least for now)

    • @Methodical2
      @Methodical2 7 років тому

      Thanks. I am putting them through the paces now. I have the older FXi30 surrounds myself and they are doing fine with the LSiMs. Happy upgrade for me.

      Funny you comment on EQ and the direct sound. I've been experimenting without the EQ (Behringer 31 band EQ) in the mix and I kind of like it direct, too, for both music and movies. I have the Mono 7 amp, but ran the LSiM 707 directly to the Behringer A500 (bridge mono for 600w) and what a difference without the EQ. It seems the EQ is actually taking away from the sound quality (It could be me). The problem is I just don't like not having any tone control - been using EQs forever for home and car audio. I am going to just not use an EQ for awhile to see how it goes. I have to admit, it sounds pretty damn good without it though.
      What didn't you like about the EQ affect?

    Wonder how it compares to Klipsch rp280f? The 280f have weighty sound and well controlled bass. I'm adding some diy Dayton reference ho 12" powered with crown xls 2002 to get the low lows and probably take some load off my amp and mid bass drivers. That's the idea I'm testing anyway.

    I bought 4 703's and 1 706's. I didn't need any bass. I have 2 SVS PB12+/2. These beasts provide all the bass I would ever need. These were an upgrade from the RTi 8's. The LSIm's are in another universe compared to the RTI's. RTi 8's did fine for movies but music was lacking. The LSIm's do movies just as good as the RTI's but really shine with music.

    did you use any amplifier for the 707's. If so can you specify the name and model number? If directly connected to the receiver what was the receiver brand name and model number? I got the 705 with Onkyo 7.2 ch receiver and the speakers sound very low no punch at all.

      Yes, I'm using a Yamaha Aventage 1010 as my receiver. It has pre-outs that send the L,R,C channels to my Emotiva XPA 3 amp. It's a cheap amp, but it sounds great and provides plenty of power to my towers.

      both are overkill. If you care for atmos, get the cheapest reciever with all the features you'd like and preouts, and hook up a dedicated amp. That's the way to go. Only use your receiver for processing music.

    I just bought the Polk 707's, waiting on delivery 3/18. I'm running a Bryston 4B ST 2 channel amp and Emotiva xsp-1 gen 2 preamp. BlueSound Node 2 with Arcam dac streaming Tidal. The Polk 707's will be replacing B&W 702 S2's. Sure hope the 707's live up to all the hype and don't disappoint compared to the B&W's. Does anyone have any comparisons between these two speaker brands? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for your review. Do you think an amp like the sony Ta-A1ES www.sony.ca/en/electronics/audio-components/ta-a1es will be able to drive these ( 80 w per channel) ?

    • @uproardiy4355
      @uproardiy4355  5 років тому +1

      They'll work, but I don't think you'll get much volume from that amp through these speakers. And if you crank the amp up to max, you'll definitely start clipping and distorting (which is bad for the speakers) A more powerful amp gives you the headroom to listen loud, without approaching the distortion ceiling on your amp.
