The only thing I don't love about the Heavy Bolter (and all bolt guns in general) is the complete lack of stagger. There's no reason anything short of a Carnifex should be able to run through a hail of bolt fire like it isn't even there
I've been running full heal on revive for heavy bolter in lethal. It's just too op for healing mortal wound instantly in comparison to a little more ammo. Can even greed and heal wound when you take damage but it's risky.
I ran the ammo increase for all my Lethal runs on heavy since I use the plasma incinerator with the venting speed variant along with the plasma pistol. 2 plasma weapons drain ammo disgustingly fast and I regularly get down to the last few shots before getting to the next ammo cache/resupply station
If you hold fire and tap aim instead you get a REALLY good 5-7 round burst with almost perfect constantly resetting accuracy with nearly full auto fire
The heavy bolter is really good and I still think the heavy plasma is slept on, but I understand why. Lobbing those charged shots and missing is very punishing and it takes more time to get good at. But the fact I can down Zoanthropes in two charged shots and lob a couple charged shots into a mob of majoris enemies and boom they're gone is so satisfying. When I first started playing heavy I tried running the multi melta and while it is good, I just found I didn't enjoy the class with that weapon. The class feels so much more rounded and able to fight anything with the heavy bolter or heavy plasma.
"Nooooooooo, you need the Melta for big Waveclear!" "Nooooooooo, you need heavy plasma, its OP when charged!" My Ork brain: "Haha, Heavy Bolter go Dakka-dakka-dakka-dakka!"
Love relic heavy volter too. But I have full top perks, minus the last one, where I choose 10 less heat generation, instead of 10% damage to terminus enemies. Extra ammo on top perk allows to choose 20% ranged damage reduction (which is far netter for the team), instead of extra ammo. Also the immunity to be knocked down on heavy state is really good for survivability. The amount of face tank damage you can sustain with it is quite insane.
I would always run the full HP on revive in lethal tbh, if used correctly you can get up to 5 stim packs worth of HP back for the price of 1. 5 stims and by default you get 2 stim packs worth of healing
I like the choice to go for equipment restoration, but honestly think the perk could definitely use a buff to smth like 120 seconds Every 3 minutes just seems a bit off Also would be wonderful if we could see all the perk statuses / cooldowns at the top Currently only some are displayed
Having a Heavy Gunner in your Team to play on Lethal is some kind of must have imo. The skill he learns on LVL21 is insane and his Halo makes the Tactician even deadlier. The Meta ( In my opinion only ) for Lethal would be: Heavy, Tactician and Bullwark.
Can I just say I'm trying to level up all the classes but watching this just makes me want to play heavy. It's my favorite class but I've pretty much maxed it out. Decisions...
1. It’s crazy how there is no full heavy bolter squad for Primaris Marines. 2. Is there a mod that replaces the ingame music with darktides yet? 3. Is there a mod that makes the bolters louder yet?
Honestly I hope at some point we get games that focus more on the chaos side of things. A DeathGuard game would go so hard because they have probably the most unique weapons in the entire setting. I also wish the Heavy Bolter was actually belt feed and not some impossible 600+ round mag ^^
Please no. Every warhammer game has felt obligated to add chaos and especially nurgle. This game added tzneech and still everyone only likes the tyranids. People need a little break from the chaos. Tyranids are awesome. Necrons would be cool next. Maybe even orks again because they have so much character. Orks and nids would've been an elite combination!
@@connordent9753 I think what he meant was a game oriented on Chaos marine instead of playing the good guys. @milkandcookies Can you do general tips on each class? When to roll out vs when to parry etc etc. I can beat Lethal with friend but solo everything seems to fall apart! Great content !
After trying out all the relic heavy bolters I can't move away from the accuracy one. I shred hoards of nids, tzzangs might as well not even have shields and even the majoris enemies. Rubrics don't even get the chance to teleport when I dump several bolts in their dome. It's the best version without a doubt.
I love the heavy bolter the most out of the 3 heavy weapons, but the one reason I use the heavy plasma way more over the heavy bolter, is that "can't dodge while in heavy ADS" thing which only applies to this class...
Has anyone else been experiencing an issue parrying the whip weapon with Heavy? I parry the first swing of the whip, then they swing the second time and when I parry the second swing, sometimes it goes straight through me like I wasn't there. No block, no damage, just a straight miss, even though the attack went right through me. Which wouldn't be that bad except the whips third, fourth, and fifth attacks are so fast that the missed parry means you get hit by at least two of the three swings (sometimes the third swing goes straight through me and misses as well). Is this some kind of timing issue? Or is there maybe some kind of bug with the hit box for the whip?
I definitely feel like they need to increase the base accuracy of the heavy bolter. That one specific variant kicks ass, but all of the other ones are pretty trash. The base spread on that thing is absolutely stupid.
For the team perk imo the range damage reduction is way better because you can survive longer. Ranged units on ruthless and lethal hit very hard and the DR is very good to have.
all three are so good they could best other classes entirely. but if i have to pick one, it’s ammo. larger mag size alone is crazy, but also ammo replenishment is % based so you get 25% more as well!
@@ShupperDupper The range damage reduction is just way more valuable at the higher levels atm. Range damage chunks you on the higher difficulties. I never really have that much ammo problems once I get to relic and have good perks. On lethal you could probably get away with it but that DR is just way too valuable imo.
Are you saying, that there are weapons other than the Heavy Bolter. That sounds like some heresy. But i hear Immortal Imperium in the background, so i forgive you.
So ive been running the -20% ranged damage middle perk with duration down but cd up, with the + damage on cooldown and +damage while up, with the aoe when the shield is depleted and an armour pip for everyone too. It just seems so good to have.
What key do you have heavy stance equipped to? I'm trying to work on my roll out of heavy stance reaction time. I need to work on when to abandon ship.
FYI the damage difference between white and relic on most guns is only about 30% its more so the perks on the weapons that give the biggest difference so the 1 extra damage on the relic tier is really more like 3% extra damage lol
Is it possible to play as a normal Space marine and not primarily, i feel like there should only be a handfull primaris not the majority as it feels now
i personally didnt invest anything in accuracy and went all in on ammo and weapon cooling. nothing beats tearing into huge blobs and watching them become mist without taking your finger off the trigger. ive had many games where i let myself get swamped and just keep firing point blank without going down
You just made me realize the real crossover content we need is with Darktide. The soundtrack specifically...Jesper Kyd needs to drop some tracks for SM2

they're both quite viable on any difficulty, so id just play whatever im feeling. but Heavy plasma is probably better, just because it can put like 4 or 5 majoris into red with a single charged shot

Although I find this to be the worst gun on heavy, it's still INSANE good. Heavy is just a beast of a class. I'm doing lethal RN with a green level Heavy Plasma, can't wait till it's Relic and I can charge it as fast as plasma pistol and 1 shot everything!! And of course, my multi melta was my 1st ever main weapon! Heavy is just so manly...
charged plasma pistol doesnt do damage to em, but it does open them up. chain that in a group to soften or switch to bolter. besides that, learn to parry/dodge and gunstrike.
Don't just hold trigger down for ANY weapon unless ur up close, if you want accurate weapons, the spread will reset if u just tap the trigger instead of hold it. And head shots kill everything about 50-80% faster, period. Thats why the instigator Carbine is one of the best guns in the game, it resets its self after 3 round burst, but this can be achieved manually too.

It makes you extremely vulnerable, force you to fire for a long time to archive anything, doesn’t stagger, is almost useless against warriors. Lets hope it gets a big buff this week with the balance patch Edit : and the ammo economy is beyond awful compared to the 2 other options
My main issue with bolters and heavy bolters especially are simple: for some reason devs decided that is should be a headshot semi-sniper weapons (are you kidding me) AND, more importantly, it's sound design and feel is EXTREMLY unsatisfying, when comparing it to my beloved Darktide. It's not a bad weapon, it's just...meh and don't feel all that good. Well, for me anyway. Hopefully, coming patches will fix some of those issues, but thanks for the build - would love to give this thing another try!
Friends and i played all 7 missions on lethal difficulty today, took 6 hours and only failed twice, once on fall of atreus (to a hellbrute, we were in shambles when it spawned) and once on decap to the tyrant. We used vanguard assault and bulwark dor all except decap, then we switched to tactical sniper bulwark. The assault player didnt have vanguard leveled up, but had sniper. I highly recommend having a sniper and bulwark with heavy OR tactical and bulwark for survivability and dmg increase
I run dbl plasmas on my Heavy, played and completed all 7 ops on Lethal with randoms. Not one failed mission. I may try the heavy bolter & melta soon since I havent touched them at all with my Heavy

As a Heavy main and Heavy Boltor believer, I would disagree. The reality of it, anything below Relic tier, a Heavy with a Boltor is a detriment to your team. It's either you just pray your team can carry or your team are playing a 2 man team with you lugging around.
i was dropping 15-20,000 damage with green and purple tier heavy bolter on Ruthless before the patch and taking least damage. as I said, its not amazing til Relic, but its perfectly playable. And if you're decent at the game, you wont be a detriment. But sure, before Relic there are better options on Heavy. for sure a Green tier melta or Green tier Plasma is better than a Green tier heavy bolter
@@griffinmckenzie7203ah the classic ‘skill issue’ response to any differing opinion. The heavy bolter below Relic is just straight up worse than the other options. You get swarmed way too easily, and have major trouble clutching up. I do fine in those situations with other classes and weapons.
There is more issue involving the Hierophant operation that you're forgetting to mention: No matter the difficulty you play it on, IT WILL NEVER FUCKING LOAD IN AT ALL! You ONLY GET A PERPETUAL BLACK SCREEN BEFORE CRASHING!
Sry. But HB is just bad cause of enemy mechanics. U just do no dmg against swords tyranids blocking all shoots. When you dakka at whip it start jump non stop and no one can aim it. Why melta and plasma best- u just can hit and run for short period of time even in melee combat. And plasma just do twice more dmg on single target.
imo the heavy bolter reticle should have been the max size anyway with some minor growth, just like SM1. Instead we got this shit stain of a weapon that you have to use the accuracy as it just makes it useable.
It's never been about the sheer damage potential of the weapon system it has always and will always remain about the time to kill factor of the weapon... heavy bolter is just plain bad. If you are happy with sitting still and investing 5-9 additional seconds to killing a specific enemy or pack of enemies then by all means go ahead but plas offers a much more mobile damage platform and strategies than the old "plant feet and pray the 40 round burst actually does something" methodology of localized genocide.. often times by focusing on majoris the minority will swarm and absolutely claw your health down *even while firing and reclaiming some of the lost health* in a battle of seconds why give the enemy even 1 more moment of opportunity to make you fail? Until they make bolter rounds actually be bolter rounds then bolter weapons are going to be at best a third option if you're bored.
What are you talking about. With heavy you can actually just stand there and tank an entire hord if you don't stop firing the bolter and still come out with full hp at the end
Literally a skill issue. if you're getting clawed down by a horde of minoris then you can literally just enter heavy stance and hold down the fire button and if you're not somehow missing every single shot you will guaranteed out-heal all the damage they deal, even if there's like 2 warriors with devourers shooting you too. And if you're hitting consistent headshots it kills stuff pretty close to just as fast as the plasma, albeit one at a time for majoris, but its better for clearing out hordes by a long shot considering how fast the plasma overheats. and on the flip side, it kills majoris much faster than the melta and clears out hordes at a comparable pace, but it can do it from farther away than literally shoved down the throat of the enemy. It is in no way shape or form a bad or worse weapon than either the melta or the plasma, it just has different strengths and uses and presents a different potential and viable playstyle. In the way that a balanced weapon should

I've been running full heal on revive for heavy bolter in lethal. It's just too op for healing mortal wound instantly in comparison to a little more ammo. Can even greed and heal wound when you take damage but it's risky.
yeah there is no way im playing with randoms without bonds of brothehood
its quite good, especially for pubs yeah
I ran the ammo increase for all my Lethal runs on heavy since I use the plasma incinerator with the venting speed variant along with the plasma pistol. 2 plasma weapons drain ammo disgustingly fast and I regularly get down to the last few shots before getting to the next ammo cache/resupply station
If you hold fire and tap aim instead you get a REALLY good 5-7 round burst with almost perfect constantly resetting accuracy with nearly full auto fire
Thanks man I’ve been running the heavy bolter and wasn’t sure about the penetration upgrade. Definitely adding it
I love using Imperial fists when using the Heavy Bolter.
Salamanders when using the Multi-Melta
And Dark Angels when using the Plasma.
6:53 Heavy Bolter Weapon Perks.
7:23 Heavy Perk Tree.
You run the exact build that I do bud. Respect 🤣 glad to see my boy the Heavy Bolter getting the love it deserves.
"Nooooooooo, you need the Melta for big Waveclear!"
"Nooooooooo, you need heavy plasma, its OP when charged!"
My Ork brain:
"Haha, Heavy Bolter go Dakka-dakka-dakka-dakka!"
I like the choice to go for equipment restoration, but honestly think the perk could definitely use a buff to smth like 120 seconds
Every 3 minutes just seems a bit off
Also would be wonderful if we could see all the perk statuses / cooldowns at the top
Currently only some are displayed
I like the remark to not always hold down the trigger. We should always embrace our inner ogryn somedays
Termination... "FREAKIN HARD!"... I felt that....😢
Got the helm... 😅
I would love for an RPG Chaos marine getting stranded somewhere and have to fight against the good guys. Lore wise, he can steal the armour or weapon parts from Astartes as Chaos are using old techs.
@@connordent9753 Maybe practice your reading comprehension and then read it again and think about the nonsensical comment you wrote here.
@@connordent9753Necrons would be amazing but should not be a primary adversary. The problem is that there's no way to balance Necron weapons without breaking lore, as their weapons essentially insta kill everything they hit.
@@connordent9753unless they did a game focused around Psykers that use the warp to regenerate tissue, theoretically warp magic could cancel out the damage from Necron weaponry.
It's the sound. Come get some!
The Emperor approves of your choice, Brother
@milkandcookies Can you do general tips on each class? When to roll out vs when to parry etc etc. I can beat Lethal with friend but solo everything seems to fall apart! Great content !
After trying out all the relic heavy bolters I can't move away from the accuracy one. I shred hoards of nids, tzzangs might as well not even have shields and even the majoris enemies. Rubrics don't even get the chance to teleport when I dump several bolts in their dome. It's the best version without a doubt.
Liked the vid for the stomp stomp joke
I love the heavy bolter the most out of the 3 heavy weapons, but the one reason I use the heavy plasma way more over the heavy bolter, is that "can't dodge while in heavy ADS" thing which only applies to this class...
Yeah because unlike other classes, you go into heavy stance while ADS, I know it's bs but it is what it is
I mean, just have the ADS on hold and release it THEN dodge :)
3:36 ROCK AND STONE, BROTHA!
Hell yah brother

This is a bug I think because it happens with warrior basic swings sometimes too, which is super annoying when you know you timed it right.
Not just heavy it happens with every class for me. Also not only the whip guys, i thought i was going crazy at first but apparently it's a bug.
Okay so other people are getting it with other attack types too
That's interesting, so far for me it's only the whip, and only vs heavys parry
THANK YOUUU!!! I was going insane! It has happened a numerous times but not that often. But it has killed me
I definitely feel like they need to increase the base accuracy of the heavy bolter.
7:34 20% damage to secondary much better perk since plasma piston doesn’t have mags and you have that buff until you run out of ammo or swap back
Are you saying, that there are weapons other than the Heavy Bolter. That sounds like some heresy.
But i hear Immortal Imperium in the background, so i forgive you.
Heavy Bolter be like: say hello to my little friend
So ive been running the -20% ranged damage middle perk with duration down but cd up, with the + damage on cooldown and +damage while up, with the aoe when the shield is depleted and an armour pip for everyone too. It just seems so good to have.
What key do you have heavy stance equipped to? I'm trying to work on my roll out of heavy stance reaction time. I need to work on when to abandon ship.
I want to use the relic heavy bolter, i am not willing to level at thing.
Brother, get the Bolter. The HEAVY BOLTER
FYI the damage difference between white and relic on most guns is only about 30% its more so the perks on the weapons that give the biggest difference so the 1 extra damage on the relic tier is really more like 3% extra damage lol
Do you play darktide at all now? New update is awesome.
Is it possible to play as a normal Space marine and not primarily, i feel like there should only be a handfull primaris not the majority as it feels now
All three weapons are like a drug lol I’m planning to level up heavy once I finish assault
i personally didnt invest anything in accuracy and went all in on ammo and weapon cooling. nothing beats tearing into huge blobs and watching them become mist without taking your finger off the trigger. ive had many games where i let myself get swamped and just keep firing point blank without going down
... slather me in milk-and-cookies... and paint me Heavy... 4LYFE...
I kinda suck when aiming the heavy bolter. Would you suggest aim assist fron game settings?
I really want a Noise marine as a playable class. 😁 maybe with the Emperors children as a base model,
You just made me realize the real crossover content we need is with Darktide. The soundtrack specifically...Jesper Kyd needs to drop some tracks for SM2
Bro... I would kill for that. Saber should've or should try to get him for a few bangers.
new to the game, love the heavy and the heavy bolter but struggling to beat substantial difficulty missions. when larger tyranid enemies rush and focus me i can't do diddly piddly. any advice yall?
Darktide ost my beloved
Heavy’s should get to carry double grenades to make up for the lack of melee
Would you pick heavy bolter over heavy plasma right now when playing pubs?
they're both quite viable on any difficulty, so id just play whatever im feeling. but Heavy plasma is probably better, just because it can put like 4 or 5 majoris into red with a single charged shot
What setup did you use for your plasma?
Can anyone tell me where the devs said there's an issue with dodging, I can't find it anywhere. Thanks.
Is there a link to them confirming the changes to dodge?
was on Discord and reddit, i promise the dev confirmed it was unintended in the official discord, saw it myself. but not tryna find it again lol. They didn't say anything official about fixing it yet, just that the fat-rolling was unintended
@@milkandcookiesTWi was looking for it myself and had trouble finding the official source on that. if it’s not too much trouble, it would be appreciated!
Gigachad heavy bolter 🗿
Although I find this to be the worst gun on heavy, it's still INSANE good. Heavy is just a beast of a class. I'm doing lethal RN with a green level Heavy Plasma, can't wait till it's Relic and I can charge it as fast as plasma pistol and 1 shot everything!! And of course, my multi melta was my 1st ever main weapon! Heavy is just so manly...
@@EKk8819 As you said yourself, you're not supposed to play with green level weapons, you're playing Lethal wrong dude...
@@Tayletubby still doesn't change reality dude. U think ur funny or smart or something but u just look sad.
Impossible, reddit keeps telling me that bolt weapons are worthless
They’re on average the worse option compared to the other guns. The heavy bolter below Relic also falls into this category.
How do you deal with tyrannid warriors squads using HB? With melta or plasma it's quire easy, but with HB it isn't, they'll just block all shots
charged plasma pistol doesnt do damage to em, but it does open them up. chain that in a group to soften or switch to bolter.
besides that, learn to parry/dodge and gunstrike.
Brother it is not called Fat Rolling, its called Heavy Strategic Maneuvering xD
Plasma incinirator is the best the majoris just block heavy bolter fire and the multi melta just feels worse.
lol a youtuber finally uses the build I was running when I maxed Heavy. Welcome to the Heavy club.
Can you do substantial, with randoms, with green items?
it’s very doable with white items solo with bots so…
Don't just hold trigger down for ANY weapon unless ur up close, if you want accurate weapons, the spread will reset if u just tap the trigger instead of hold it. And head shots kill everything about 50-80% faster, period. Thats why the instigator Carbine is one of the best guns in the game, it resets its self after 3 round burst, but this can be achieved manually too.
big fan of that one in relic tier, it’s crazy how strong that one can get in the right hands.

Woah woah isn't he iron hands, not iron warrior?
@@Nheom he is I’m spreading my own agenda here
Let’s be real, it’s the worst of the 3 options and really isn’t that good especially in lethal. It makes you extremely vulnerable, force you to fire for a long time to archive anything, doesn’t stagger, is almost useless against warriors. Lets hope it gets a big buff this week with the balance patch
Edit : and the ammo economy is beyond awful compared to the 2 other options
thank u for reassuring me that the heavy bolter is good lol
My main issue with bolters and heavy bolters especially are simple: for some reason devs decided that is should be a headshot semi-sniper weapons (are you kidding me) AND, more importantly, it's sound design and feel is EXTREMLY unsatisfying, when comparing it to my beloved Darktide. It's not a bad weapon, it's just...meh and don't feel all that good. Well, for me anyway.
Hopefully, coming patches will fix some of those issues, but thanks for the build - would love to give this thing another try!
Vulkan lives
Pretty sure I left a comment telling you about the heavy bolter before the game got released.
Just people were busy getting clicks with the broken meltas.

If that's your personal experience, then it sounds like you're just bad, dude. Lol
@@griffinmckenzie7203ah the classic ‘skill issue’ response to any differing opinion.
The heavy bolter below Relic is just straight up worse than the other options. You get swarmed way too easily, and have major trouble clutching up. I do fine in those situations with other classes and weapons.

Heavy bolter got shit Perry
Instead we got this shit stain of a weapon that you have to use the accuracy as it just makes it useable.
they need to buff the dmg to all bolters vs the weak shit....seeing a ripper or lil gaunt eat 3-4 HEAVY BOLTER rounds is beyond lame man
I think the issue is they are all headshot based for some reason.
Heavy insta kills gaunts to the head same with even the normal bolt pistol.
So many bad players in gold tiers these days. Time wasters.

Nonono, delete this video, stop telling people about the heavy bolter. Please god.
Rolling crap sucks, make us TOUGHER, all this dodging is so goddamn zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
