100% only good option IMO. Your sword is for ad clear not you're gun. Thats for stopping reinforcements and shooting psychers that fly, you're only weakness.
I've been thinking of llayjng with the blocking with shield gives 20% extra melee dam buff. If it proc from a parry since it's technically blocking it would be very good I think if your passing on the shock build
@@glenndelucia8877 problem is that there is no indicator that the buff is active. You know that blue little marker below your health bar. I find it very weird. I agree that the dmg buff is great but the recovery from a shield bash is way too long, and I have a feeling that you only get about 3 seconds worth of damage buff. The Shock AOE build is soooooo far superior it's not even close. The perk that causes your parries to do AoE damage is strong. You do not need to use the cleaving mode on the sword, just parry one or two enemies and they will all die. The shock grenade on parry makes it even stronger - you will get free executions for days which keeps you immune in the horde, and not only will your damage be a lot higher, but your team mates will thank you when you're making enemies take 25% more damage due to the shock effect. Stay in regular sword mode, focus down the Majoris enemies in the pack by alternating quick attacks and power rakes. Make sure you take all of the % damage increases and specifically the 50% power rake damage increase - this guarantees an execute after 1 parry, 1 light attack and 1 power rake. Parry everything that comes your way, you will be literally invincible because of chaining executions. Your main damage source as a Bulwark is the parry aoe perk, and it ties perfectly into your best defensive strategy as well. You barely even take ranged damage because you're constantly refilling your armor with execute animations. The only time to use the power mode is when the enemies are climbing to the top of a wall and you can just cleave them down before they attack. I've maxed out bulwark and this seems more or less correct, the shock aoe is just free damage and the perfect parry aoe does wonders. Eventhough I'm not constantly attacking I can frequently top out on most melee damage in leaderboards just because of that sweet sweet perfect parry skill. (Side note: you can do a light attack with power sword, wait for half a second then do another light attack and it will do an ground slam attack that's decent for crowd control even in regular stance)

Tip if you're having trouble partying on bulwark. I found that spamming the parry button helps to activate the animation. Pressing it for me would bring up the shield half the time.
The bulwark was my first pick going into multiplayer and I was really struggling. This video has been a big help understanding this class’s role and what tools can work. Now I am really enjoying the class and the game overall. Thanks for this video!
Re-watching this now that patch 4.0 has dropped, and made it necessary for me to finally get around to leveling up Bulwark. The patch has caused a new party meta to form: Bulwark, Heavy, Tactical. Of those, I only have yet to level Bulwark up. Mr. and Mrs. Fallout are off on their Honeymoon right now, bless 'em. Many happy years, you two. You two are so great together it honestly makes me smile.
Gotta say you covered everything amazingly the only thing I would add is how great the shield bash actually is especially if you have the bash perk on, throwing that in the middle of your combos keeps most majoris enemies in a constant stunned state to deal constant damage
The perk that instantly incapacitates a major/extreme on a perfect parry is really fun. I only use sprinting attacks with the Bulwark, constantly popping off gun strikes and keeping the armour topped up so that last perk may make more sense for me
Finally someone giving Bulwark the love it deserves. Though from my experimenting with perks between AOE build and full defense build, I find the AOE build seems to be more beneficial on tyranid missions and the full tank/ range defense build works well against chaos. When fighting the nids they tend to ball up on you so much they seem to block a lot of their own ranged attacks minus those annoying fuckers that lob the spines at you. Where the chaos enemies seem to spread out a lot more so the extra range protection is big. Maybe this will give way to being able to save different perk loadouts like weapon loadouts?
I didn't really see anything that would be too helpful in PVP, so I would like to add these things here: The shock grenade is the best grenade in the game for the Bulwark class and you get it at level 3. As a Bulwark, you want to garner as much attention as possible in any mode, but in PVP you also need to crowd control from a distance. To do this, the shock grenade is key when in conjunction with knowing where the grenade reload spawns are located. If you can cause fights to occur with a grenade reload station behind you, you can sit in that spot without much concern for cover and shell out shock grenades frequently with a much lower risk of taking damage. Being able to use your banner as a counter to any shock grenades that are thrown at YOU is also a very good strategy while you are locking a grenade spawn down. Especially so if you are blocking shots and start taking HP damage instead of shield damage from any source. Finally, If you start to get targeted and pressured by an assault class in a match, you'll need to communicate to your brothers to prioritize the assault as soon as he becomes airborne (if possible). As well as try to position yourself to be shielded from vertical attacks with the map geometry. This can be done by staying in tight corridors or door ways that you can use to break line of sight when you spot an assault in the air. The last tip I'll give is that if you want to push a shielded heavy, you are very unlikely to out melee the Heavy's continuous primary fire unless you use a banner or a shock grenade to blind him and reposition. I hope these tips can help any other people struggling to learn Bulwark in Eternal War mode.
CORRECTION!!!!! After today's patch. The loadout refilling health bug is gone and so is the Melta bug. So make sure you pick up your health! You do not have the free refilling anymore at loadout changers
The banner + execution combo still instantly refills your health though. So as long as you keep using that and you are careful enough, you still won't be needing stims nearly as much as your teammates.
Personally I use Intimidating Aura the AoE from a parry. There is no cd on it, unlike the electro parry one. Which is 30 seconds. I find it enables WAY more armor regen and sustain in the midst of a horde(At least for me and my playstyle) My best advice for my bulwark brethern is find what works well for you and become a god amongst ants. Fight well Brothers. For the Emperor!
I started as a Vanguard and my friends said I should try the Balwark, I was hesitant, but I quickly realized just how boss the class was and I have never looked back.
the bulwark ammo strategy is so common sense. you are a strong assest to have because of your common sense strategy. i think ppl are going to over complicate their builds. and im positive most ppl will apply no common sense to their builds. but you keep it simple. fill your roll to assure team success. your a coaches wet dream good sir
I’m watching this about a month after it was posted. And I only have 2 things to add. 1. When you are presented with ranged enemies, as long as they are not snipers, you can keep your shield up and waltz on up before using a shield bash, or you can use it as a chance to regain your bearings on the battle ahead of you. 2. Use the energy pistol, I will die on this hill that the energy pistol is superior to the bolt pistol. You can use the charge up to deny enemies from calling reinforcements, and you can rely on it to do way more damage in a single shot than any bolt pistol, especially against boss level enemies.
I find letting myself get cornered by waves and waves of enemies when I'm last alive to work the best. If you're cornered they will only come at you from one direction and you can swing and swing in power stance and get gun finishers over and over and parrying is easy to see coming. You won't get surrounded so there is less to worry about.
Bulwark tip: If your teammate is low on hp and you see that they are about to perform an execution, drop that banner next to them, and they will regain all their hp. (You must have the invigorating icon class perk). Note: You can also do this with the rejuvenating effect class perk, BUT I believe that it is a bug that will eventually get patched.
That ammo tip for a bulwark is golden, I hate and get pissed, when a bulwark “steals” my ammo when I’m a Vanguard/Heavy/Sniper/Tactical. Surely the tactical can do melee fine too, but that ammo benefits me a lot more than it benefits you. The Assault is more or less in the same category as the bulwark when it comes to ammo, in my opinion at least. If the other 4 classes doesn’t pick it up, then sure, go ahead and grab it. Other than that, please leave it be 🙂 Great tip 👍🏼
I noticed something, you usually commit to the swing of the sword even if there is an enemy to parry. You can parry mid swing if you choose to. Also it staggers all enemies near you, just a tip if you don't know it. (don't take it the wrong way I'm just trying to help)
With the power sword, dodging and holding melee does the sprint-attack of the stance you're not using and switches to that stance. A lot more fluid than stopping to switch. Also, if you upgrade the plasma pistol on the fast-charging tree, you can use a full charge shot to get a TON of contested health back after putting down the banner.
Very good video, I usually jump into a swarm and get killed if I play on anything but the lowest difficulty. I'll be sure to try your advice next time I Bulwark. Cheers!
Something i uave noticed that no one shows is that when you place the banner you get the ability to restore all you health because it becomes contested and if you get a execution or parry that blue attack from the small ones you get all your health back and the animation is long enough to restore most to all of your armour and it works for teammates
Funny commentary and great tutorial that brought my Bulwark up from an eternally rolling baby panda to a proper stalwart Space Marine tank! Power swings and executions are OP! Level 23 now and can't wait to max him out soon! Man the Fbleep up! And yeah, too bad about the patch that "fixed" the loadout station bug... I actually thought it was legit part of the game as intended when I experienced that! XD
A piece of advice for anyone who needs to cover a buddy during a revive: Shield Bash exists, and is a great method of ccing a pile of minor enemies to keeo them from interrupting, otherwise, become parry god
Brother your opinion on this Class is Sound, Bulwark was also my first class to max out fully and i watched this video expecting a radical opinion but saw the build and playstyle i use instead being used Efficiently. The only thing i will say needs more reconsidering is your opinion on gun usage i see you were using the bolt pistol, throw that thing at a Xeno and never think twice, the Plasma Pistol is SO BROKEN!! I use the Power sword the most because its amazing at everything, but the plasma pistol is being severely ignored in this video it is the best secondary in the game and can only be used on Heavy and Bulwark, that alone should be enough reason to max it out and abuse everyone with it thats outside of sword range. And plus ammo caches can be picked up infinite times by everyone so pick up all the ammo you can, the bulwark even says when restocking WASTE NOTHING BROTHERS!! Other then that great video with great information, the build is strong i can vouch heavily it has cleared many Ruthless missions with ease of use. The Emperor and the Codex Astarties both support these actions brother 🤝
@FalloutPlays The Bulwark is a derivative of the Emperor's Champion, a rank in 40k Space Marine chapters. The rank is in honour of the first Emperor's Champion, a dood named Sigismund, he's badass loyalist from the The Horus Heresy 10,000 years earlier (in M31-2) Thanks for the build and tips! 😅😅
Thank you for the guide. I don't know why but even as a Tactical you'll feel like a Bulwark when you're not panicking like a chicken and time your fencing everything is survivable so long as its not that damn Brain or that Tyrant(Tyrant's subjective since there are some god like people out there who thrive on facing them mano e mano on ruthless)
Personal preference chainsword. Stomp attack deals better with crowds. And the chraged up attack from the rellic version deals big damage to bosses. Not that i would care, but for those who care. Note: after the recent update, stims replenish contested health, and than some normal healt, so if you are on the brink of death, use your banner, than use your stimm and you will be full healt. I usually do pick up only one stimm for backup. And use this tactic to get full health.
Every time i'm fighting in a sea of tyranids and standing my ground on the Bulwark, the AI versions of Im Still Standin by Elton John sung by a space marine plays in my head. I love it.
great guide and almost mirrors my play style for my bulwark. I use the AoE shock as it can really help thin hordes and get some decent dmg against majors with the perks. my buddies and I will coordinate our executions with my banner and treat it like a full heal which saves a lot on stims at max difficulty and can easily get someone off mortal wound
Thank you for this video my brotha! I shall do my best to learn what you have taught as I journey to my own new path towards a BW main! Courage and Honor!
For a Bulwark, ranged isn't as dangerous as you claimed. If you keep your guard up you can technically block all ranged damage in front of you at no cost - you can follow up blocking with a bash which will temporarily boost your melee damage as well or a dash>strike. If you Sprint you keep your guard up automatically so they can't hurt you from the front if you charge right at them, followed up by a leaping stab that has a decent AoE coverage. Take a short pause after the first attack and press attack again for a large AoE strike to the ground, also has a chance to open enemies to Gunstrike.
Important thing to note with Invigorating Icon (the "max contested health when you drop chapter banner" perk), using that right before an execute gives you a full heal. Is it more useful than dropping it preemptively to prevent yourself from losing health in the first place? sometimes. Most importantly though, you can full heal your teammates by dropping it while they're in the middle of an execution. Their contested health fills immediately, but the conversion from contested to real health happens at the end of the animation. Also, i swear by the plasma pistol as your sidearm just for the guaranteed stagger on Majors trying to call for reinforcements across the map.
For everyone who has problems with the perfect parry: Make sure to hit the parry button only once. Because if you hold it the game thinks you want to block and the Bulwark raises his shield to repell the attack. This will neither stagger your enemy nor will it give you a gunshot option. It will just block the damage.
Also a fencing weapon will also help 👍 been using a blocking power sword not knowing that u can’t perfect parry with it not to much the short window for it
Two things for my fellow Bulwarks out there: 1. You have a shield, use it! Most minoris ranged attacks can be blocked as you casually approach them so you aren't getting your health and armor chunked by the little bastards 2. The perk that gives maximum contested health when you slap down your banner doesn't just benefit you but teammates as well! If you coordinate you can have an enemy prepped for execution then put the Chapter Banner down right before your squadmate finished them off and due to the kill while their contested health was maxed they go from needing a stim to good as new. Every time I act as this diet-Apothocary I've recieved many of thanks from all those who I've met in public lobbies
1:19 I don't think this was the absolute best footage you could have used to showcase how you're "the anchor" of your team as you're being absolutely decimated by garbage lol
If you have a brother low on health and you have bane, you can wait for them to do an execution and place banner as they are doing it to return all health, keep in mind that this only works withe the banner that gives contested health
I must be the only Bulwark that likes the Chain Sword better than the Power Sword. They both get the job done and that's what really matters. Courage and honor Brothers!
I rly liked chainsword in darktide. I think being able to switch to a fast style makes it superior, becuase u have bigger window between strikes to react
pesonally LOVE Bulwark. I also maxed that first. Though I use the shock setup as that does a great job handling entire hoards of tyranids at once. got 5 majors charging you, just perfect parry one, create a AOE field around you that damages all of them. I have killed literally 5+ majors with NO help before and just melee. Also, Plasma pistol is best IMO for the anti reinforcement help and hight dps on flying pychers. But I alse understand Bulwark has multiple good builds, which just makes it even better.
Truth to be told - a good sniper is a Bulwarks dream (do not confuse with "Snipers Dream" 😎 ). A good sniper makes Ruthless dificulty trivial for his Bulwark friend. While you tank all meele mobs, those pesky range elites suddedly disapear one by one. Add Tactical to the mix and you have a combo made in heaven ❤
I suspect this build works well with a coordinated team you can trust to capitalize on the attention grabbing brick wall tactics. In random queue, I think I still prefer to bring the extra DPS from the shock talents so I stand a chance of killing a pack and catching up when my team has a completely different plan than me.
man i can't wait till they release apothecary for space marine 2 as thats my main in spacehulk deathwing as it will give me the most joy to keep my bulwark brothers topped up and ready to purge some zenos filth from the universe.
As a bulwark, here are the rules, talk to teammates and make sure you notice which is low health so you can heal them with the banner, also if you find the gene seed and there isn’t a vanguard on the team, you take it, since you will most likely survive, also, attack, I know that Bulwark is defensive but I see people who play it more defensively and while I do play the shock and awe build, I still attack while creating choke points, the enemy health just melts with all the area of effect stuff I have, like my shock stuff, my shock grenades, and my chapter banner which has the perk that makes it do damage, so I just destroy enemy hordes, and I keep my brothers safe
Plasma pistol is a reinforcement call stopper. I don’t think I’ve ever used unless fighting a Nueronthrope or Zoethrope. Those charge shots are valuable when everyone is reloading and someone heretic decides to summon reinforcements.
Here’s a tip for those playing heavy melta spam: don’t run in and blast the executable mobs near melee classes, they need them for health and armour regen!
Bulwark is so hard... I've grinded to 21 leveling heavy to rank 5... At ruthless level on bulwark I really struggled, any got frustrated and finally said fuck it and played ruthless on my level 5 heavy and topped damage with 13k, topped kills with 319, topped revives and least damage taken .... And joined half way through the mission. I think I play bulwark to offensively.
I use the perk that makes non lethal gun strikes also give armour, since I'm not often below 50% hp and this way I get almost 100% uptime on the 25% dr when armour breaks
Bulwark, without a doubt, goes extremely hard, but as an Assault main who also want to rock out with Bulwark, I am certain that I’m not playing Bulwark correctly and require help to playing him properly. One example, how to parry properly with the shield. But fret not, I will make sure I am competent and comfortable with this class soon enough.
bulwark + block style chainsword just stomp spam , your health basically wont go down from all the regen turning you into unstoppable machine and you get high kill count

Brother! I main a black Templar bulwark and the ability to one shot Lichters and Raveners is goated!😂
Thank you for picking up SM2 content fallout. I really enjoyed your Destiny2 videos, but i no longer play.
I've been struggling with Bulwark as I level it. This video has been a huge help. Thanks for the content!
I didn't really see anything that would be too helpful in PVP, so I would like to add these things here:
The shock grenade is the best grenade in the game for the Bulwark class and you get it at level 3.
After the update i changed my bulwark to something like this exactly. Glad to see other people not use the shock build
A lot of brotherly love from gaming youtubers these days, very heartwarming.
Just starting my Bulwark journey and these tips shall serve me well brother. The Emperor protects, Courage and Honour!
Brother you neglect a bulwark's shield. the amount of damage you avoid is hilarious
As a bulwark main, i felt this video in my soul great explanation👌🏼
She Bul on my wark until I parried?
(Awesome guide, as per usual, brother. Emperor approves). 🤜🤛
Is this a Smosh reference?
Thanks for the sage advice. Getting rocked on substantial difficulty atm, I think these tips will help.
I find letting myself get cornered by waves and waves of enemies when I'm last alive to work the best. If you're cornered they will only come at you from one direction and you can swing and swing in power stance and get gun finishers over and over and parrying is easy to see coming. You won't get surrounded so there is less to worry about.
This is amazing - thankyou looking fwd to trying these invaluable tips out - so in depth
Wonderful video!! Glad I’m taking Bulwork up! You and TV have given me life! Loving these videos. GGs
Love the fact that Fallout keeps your "Brothers" instead of teammates. You have become One of Us Brother.
Ah yes, the video that justifies my belief that Bulwark is best class xD
Always has been battle brother!
It isn’t
As a bulwark main
Until melee is made not pathetically weak it’s a meme pick beyond being practically invincible
I always ping it for my buddy and the randos. I never pick them up.
Are we gonna talk about that 2:34 shot.. just epic.
Those little snapshots make you feel like a God mid fight
I noticed something, you usually commit to the swing of the sword even if there is an enemy to parry. You can parry mid swing if you choose to. Also it staggers all enemies near you, just a tip if you don't know it. (don't take it the wrong way I'm just trying to help)
The level 23 perk giving ypu a gull bar of contested health when you banner is a game changer
With the power sword, dodging and holding melee does the sprint-attack of the stance you're not using and switches to that stance. A lot more fluid than stopping to switch. Also, if you upgrade the plasma pistol on the fast-charging tree, you can use a full charge shot to get a TON of contested health back after putting down the banner.
great video new to bulwark. trying to get use to the parry.
And plus ammo caches can be picked up infinite times by everyone so pick up all the ammo you can, the bulwark even says when restocking
WASTE NOTHING BROTHERS!!
Other then that great video with great information, the build is strong i can vouch heavily it has cleared many Ruthless missions with ease of use. The Emperor and the Codex Astarties both support these actions brother 🤝
I want to see a heavy guide next please!🙏 especially now with the buff to the heavy plasma.
@FalloutPlays
The Bulwark is a derivative of the Emperor's Champion, a rank in 40k Space Marine chapters. The rank is in honour of the first Emperor's Champion, a dood named Sigismund, he's badass loyalist from the The Horus Heresy 10,000 years earlier (in M31-2)
Thanks for the build and tips!
I like the Bulkwark but man do melee focused class struggle against Chaos. Although that may have changed with the new balancing to Chaos enemies.
At 9:00 when he says “I don’t give a single f#@k” I started choke laughing on my smoke so bad. 😭
For everyone who has problems with the perfect parry: Make sure to hit the parry button only once. Because if you hold it the game thinks you want to block and the Bulwark raises his shield to repell the attack. This will neither stagger your enemy nor will it give you a gunshot option. It will just block the damage.
I've heard many say tap it twice
@@kurtisdeakin No, once is fine. Just the timing matters.
Also a fencing weapon will also help 👍 been using a blocking power sword not knowing that u can’t perfect parry with it not to much the short window for it
@@kurtisdeakin nah ya just gotta tap once.... its just pressing for a smidge too long that it wants to prioritise block.
Bro is the CEO of Bulwark class
and please make guide for all other classess if you can, many thanks
Two things for my fellow Bulwarks out there:
1. You have a shield, use it! Most minoris ranged attacks can be blocked as you casually approach them so you aren't getting your health and armor chunked by the little bastards
As of now the parry aoe perk has been fixed so you should definitely go for that as it allows you to clear smaller enemies and swarms easily
1:19 I don't think this was the absolute best footage you could have used to showcase how you're "the anchor" of your team as you're being absolutely decimated by garbage lol
As a Assault marine main in previous iteration of Space Marine coz power sword was only accessible through it, the Bulwark is my go to.
"if you wanna man up".... *laughs in Assault*: that's a cute shield, little brother
If you have a brother low on health and you have bane, you can wait for them to do an execution and place banner as they are doing it to return all health, keep in mind that this only works withe the banner that gives contested health
omg awesome video haha good work man good work!!!
I love the power sword
But imma stick fot the chainsword for stomp combo and stagger crowds
Great video, Thanks for the advice Brother, may you bathe in the light of the Golden Throne.
pesonally LOVE Bulwark.
Most satisfying class to play
Saved my team a few times
Truth to be told - a good sniper is a Bulwarks dream (do not confuse with "Snipers Dream" 😎 ).
A good sniper makes Ruthless dificulty trivial for his Bulwark friend. While you tank all meele mobs, those pesky range elites suddedly disapear one by one.
Add Tactical to the mix and you have a combo made in heaven ❤
My brother in Sanguinius
I'm loving the space marine content!
EMPEROR PROTECTS
I suspect this build works well with a coordinated team you can trust to capitalize on the attention grabbing brick wall tactics. In random queue, I think I still prefer to bring the extra DPS from the shock talents so I stand a chance of killing a pack and catching up when my team has a completely different plan than me.
man i can't wait till they release apothecary for space marine 2 as thats my main in spacehulk deathwing as it will give me the most joy to keep my bulwark brothers topped up and ready to purge some zenos filth from the universe.
Our builds are mostly identical lol salute.
Pls make a guide for all classes and review weapon tier list for specific classes
Great video, new subscriber!
You can also make a parry build and its incredible too, i frequently get 11000+ damage out of it while tanking hits😂
Focused strength gives u gunstrikes on minoris with shield bash, and its faster and safer than a swing.
I use the perk that makes non lethal gun strikes also give armour, since I'm not often below 50% hp and this way I get almost 100% uptime on the 25% dr when armour breaks
Yep, and when you parry hive tyrant you get +3 armour.
Bulwark prioritizes blocking. Make sure to tap the parry button. Don't press and hold.
Bro saying “be a defensive nightmare” changed my whole look on the bulwark
Bulwark, without a doubt, goes extremely hard, but as an Assault main who also want to rock out with Bulwark, I am certain that I’m not playing Bulwark correctly and require help to playing him properly.
One example, how to parry properly with the shield.
But fret not, I will make sure I am competent and comfortable with this class soon enough.
If your using the power sword, if you dodge and hold the melee button, you will switch stances on the fly.
bulwark + block style chainsword
just stomp spam , your health basically wont go down from all the regen turning you into unstoppable machine and you get high kill count
thx for the tipps
Much appreciated 👍. Assault or Sniper next?
Damn shoulda waited a day to make this.
U can get nonstop executions with every weapon as bulwark just do the running melee and it’s a 100% chance to give u a CRIT shot
Based fallout for making the bulwark a dark angel
