    Honestly I feel like using a cream polish may have been better to see (at least on camera) how each top coat performs and looks I think with the glitter we get so much reflection we can't really see top coat we just see beautiful glitter duo chrome lol also in love how it all looks and I think having brightness settings could work to your advantage I know certain colors can change the white balance on a camera. Idk if nails are enough surface area for that to really happen BUT having brightness settings may help us see things more true to color love you can wait for the follow up video

      Yes, you're so right. I was thinking the same thing. That a basic, cream finish polish with no sparkle or anything would have been the best choice for this top coat "battle" lol. Because what people (or atleast I do) look for in a top coat isn't just how well it incases and smoothes out glitters to the touch. For me, I am all about the high shine, glossy finish of a top coat and that nice thick gel like plump look it gives the nails...but with this being basically just pire glitter, you can't see how glossy they are let alone which one is MORE glossy and gel like. I'd like to see her do a part 2 to this comparison with cream polish.

    It would’ve been a million times easier for viewers to see the difference had you used a solid, opaque nail polish.

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  4 роки тому +6

      One of the main things I wanted to test was how well it smoothed glitters, so a solid color wouldn't have helped with that

    As a professional nail tech I can tell you the Seche Vive is my favorite. They both dry fast but the Vive does dry more like a shiny gel. I love it!

      Cristina Guerra Can we ask Seche to stop using an opaque bottle? How do you tell how much product is left?

    • @cristinaguerra4226
      @cristinaguerra4226 6 років тому +14

      Callia the opaque bottle is used because it is more like a real gel and if light hits it would thicken or could even harden depending on how much light hits it. The only way I can tell when its starting to get low is it will start to get thicker.

    The pro with vive is that it stays shiny longer and doesn't scratch as easy. When I used vite before I found that i had to add a coat a few days later because it had lost too much shine, with vive I don't need to do that anymore. But if you don't wear your polish longer than 2-3 days than you probably won't need vive. :)

    Usually I don’t put 3 top coats on, but in my short experience with Seche Vite, it dries super fast and doesn’t crack, peel, lift, or smudge until I take it off. And it lasted 2 good weeks.

    Seche Vite got thrown out after it totally ruined a manicure a few months ago. I had problems with it causing shrinkage around the cuticles, and sidewalls. The last time I used it, it made my manicure look like brain matter. (or a cooling lava field) The polish was allowed to dry over an hour before applying topcoat. I now use Morgan Taylor's React topcoat. I rarely need a second coat.

    I am liking the slightly curve corners on your nail tips.
    I am so curious to see if the SV (either) causes shrinking of the polish after the 3rd coat. Maybe not because of the thick glitter. SV shrinking (I use both types) is quite a problem for me if I apply it to dry polish. I often touch up tip wear and add a topcoat every couple days. Sometimes, hours later, I get awful shrinking from all edges when I do that.
    Since Seche Vive comes in a light shielded bottle, I figure it is light reactive. So, I often use a LED nail lamp on it, even tho it says you don't need to do so. My sis and I both think it cures faster with the light. Fwiw...

  • @HulloAlice
    @HulloAlice 6 років тому +12

    I get terrible shrinkage with both of them :( Even if I apply when still wet, and forget doing nail art designs with them! It's so frustrating because I love the shine. Out the door is the only quick dry that hasn't given me shrinkage

  • @BrittMFH

    Vite bonds all the layers of polish into one that dries quickly (unlike Out The Door, which is a quick drying topcoat only). I love Vite and can live with the bit of shrinkage I get. Does Vive bond the lower layers, too? Thanks for this great review.

    What I like about vive is I don't get any shrinkage unlike with vite. Also how vite thickens up half way through the bottle I've been through 2 bottle of vive without needing restore.
    How thick of coats do you use? I never need more than one coat over glitter.

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  6 років тому +2

      I thankfully don't have that problem with vite, but that sounds like a good reason to switch to me. I was using pretty thick coats, but this glitter was SUPER chunky, especially sponging it on

      Velvet Leigh I love Vive for the exact same reasons! I'm surprised you only need one coat with glitters... For some reason for me neither Vive or Vite feeds glitter well. I use a coat of Gelous then put Vive on top when using glitters, I find that works great.

    But seriously, I bought Seche Vite bcs of all the YT videos and I really don't like it, I don't know how ppl can use them and say it is so good. I don't have the issue of shrinking, but it does not keep my nailpolish lasting long at all! Maybe 3 days max! And I have an AVON (Mark) gel topcoat that makes my polish last more than 7 days...am I doing something wrong? Seriously...
    I like the new setup. Looks good to me.

  • @jennw6809
    @jennw6809 6 років тому

    I am betting this will peel off well just because of the glitter. One coat may not work with a creme the same, but this should work just fine like the gel did. As far as the smoothness - when you wake up and they are less smooth, I interpret that as shrinkage overnight. Interesting that you found them smoother in the morning this time!

    I used to use Seche Vite all the time and went through dozens of bottles, but switched to Essie Gel Setter a few years back. Received a bottle of Seche Vive (from my sister who got it from a subscription box) last year and have been using it intermittently. Now that I've nearly used it up, I would say it performs similarly to Seche Vite, but it gives more shrinkage in the cuticle area for me than Vite. Also I noticed recently that it seems to have gone a bit yellow with time, but maybe that wouldn't be an issue if you go through the bottle faster than I did.

    I’ve been using vite for some time but recently moved to the brand kbshimmer which is the best I’ve used in awhile. I’ve used out the door, drip dry drops and several others in between. However, I just did a wonderful Christmas manicure/stamping, red and gold and the next day the red on my thumbs was all messed up at the cuticles; and I think it is what everyone here is saying about the shrinkage. I’m ocd and usually redo whatever is messed up but I’m letting it slide. I’ll go back to using my kbshimmer and just buy the refill on their site to refill my bottles. So disappointed in vite- perhaps it has changed/poorer quality recently??

      It still seems to be the same for me, bit there can be some polishes it doesn't play nice with, even if you usually don't have any problems with it. I've had shrinkage from it maybe half a dozen times over the past decade, but 99% of the time it's fine.

      Callia The company wouldn't change the bottle to clear like Seche vite, but there's a very good reason why vite is in a clear bottle but vive is not...if it was also in a clear bottle...they would have very angry customers lol. Anyone who has purchased Seche Vive should already know the reeason for the dark opaque coloured bottle. It's explained on the side of the box it comes in. Anyway, the reason is because Seche Vite hardens/fuses all layers of polish just by drying naturally..but still very quickly. The Seche Vive on the other hand does this by being exposed to light. So if it where to be in clear bottles and exposed to light...just simply having it sitting out on your counter or table top while doing your nails would ruin it. Just think about how quickly it dries just to the touch...literally like a minute or two. It would harden inside the bottle and be unusable.

I would like to see a comparison with Vive after 3 days wear using a cream. The camera angle is great. The ring light solves so many inconveniences. Lets see how it does when you water marble. I also have issues with Vite, using it on top of stamping. Maybe Vive will not cause smearing with stmping images.

    How do you get your nails not to discolor. I use a clear base coat but specially along the skin sides discolors.

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  6 років тому

      I always use a base coat, but other than that I don't do anything special. I think it really depends on the polish you use - I don't generally worry about staining unless it's really bad like the time my nails tuned blue LOL

    How do you prevent Vite from peeling so fast?? No matter what I do/try, within 12-24hrs the layer of Vite starts peeling off...😢 Maybe I should try Vive.

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  6 років тому +1

      I don't do anything special but I do know vite just doesn't seem to agree with some people's body chemistry - a couple of others have commented that vive works better for them in that situation

    Huh interesting maybe they're the exact same formula? lol I wanted to ask have you tried any of the cool thick gel with Saran Wrap with the glitter powders I saw that on another Channel I think it's baby girl nails and it's so cool the depth and the texture they looked to me like colored seashells literally so I just wondered if you'd ever tried anything like that? Or would even like to ? You're just so good I think you could do amazing things with that saran wrap in that thick gel and glitter powder LOL alright thank you so much for sharing another awesome video

      I used it before, over a reverse stamped design, and didn't notice much difference - that's what prompted the comparison

      do you mean your top coat or your entire manicure? Make sure your nails are completely clean before you start, but for some people Seche just isn't the top coat for them, you might want to try a different brand of quick dry.

    • @bloodwashedsaint
      @bloodwashedsaint 4 роки тому +2

      My Simple Little Pleasures yea my top coat by this brand it bobbles then shifts off any tips ?

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  4 роки тому

      if it's getting bubbles it may be getting thick, in which case I'd recommend a bit of polish thinner

    The video looks really good and the lighting is a great improvement! Thanks for doing this comparison and review. I own both top coats and I’ve had seche vive chip in a day and I usually get a couple days. Overall I get about one more day of wear with Vite over Vive

    It would have been better with a Creme nail polish. Those textured nail polishes remind me of kids glitter polishes and I just don’t like them

    • @MSLP
      @MSLP  4 роки тому

      I don't consider glitter to be kids polish - an I needed something textured to test how well it smoothed.

    I really hope that the Madam Glam works for you this time. I have only used two coats when I touched it too soon and left a finger print in it. It does definitely take a second coat then or you will get a horrible fight to peel it off! I'd like to know how you got that bottle of Fingerpaint polish free. The Sallys here... They are less and less cooperative with anything that should be a sale item. To the point I have complained to the headquarters. Not that it did any good...

      Tammy C I saw it in a video of LOVE4NAILS a year ago maybe (she mentioned it beeing a favorite nail strainghtener of hers) and wanted to try it myself. I tried to find it online because I am not from the US but it was a bust. I could not find it in stock anywere that had a shipping to my country. I think she said in a video that she got it at wallmart. If you do a search on youtube by "Pro-fx super greens" her videos will come up and you could watch some to see where she buys them, or you could ask her. If you do find it somewere could you please tell me? I really want to buy a bottle :) Good luck!
