Love your youthful reaction to George Carlin. I've been a fan of George Carlin since the early 70s. I was in the 9th grade when another classmate brought in a George Carlin record. The seven dirty words album.... well the teacher turn it off after one dirty word. Hope you all do well on your channel.

George was a great Teacher on the stage. So much of what he said still holds true today and that was almost 30 yrs ago. He's my Fav along with Bill Burr and Chapelle. You should react to "Homeless people" and "Saving the planet". Enjoy your reactions.
George Carlin is without a doubt the king of comedy he takes words put em out on the slab and dissects them he will give you new ways to think about old things things everybody's thought about he is definitely a word wizard he's one of the coolest people I've ever met I met him after he left the stage Little Rock Arkansas 1996 Robinson auditorium what you see on stage is what you get in real life
George Carlin is the GOAT... he has material that goes from zany stand up to the most in depth look at human behavior I've ever witnessed by a comedian. No one touches him. Genius
Arab commandos are not called terrorists, terrorists are called terrorists no matter what skin color they have. Timothy McVeigh is a perfect example of this.
He speaks the truth. I absolutely love seeing young people laughing with him. I've been laughing at his jokes for an easy 30 years. Lol He is, well....was a king. But really what he's speaking of is the desensitization of civilization. As he said, if it was still called shell shocked, many vietnam veterans may have gotten the much needed help they deserved. The softer on the ears the words are, the further removed emotionally you are - from the human aspect of what it is you are speaking of. This is IMHO one of the reasons we have so much gun violence. Back in the day like the 20's.. 30's....40's and 50's violence wasn't a part of main stream entertainment people would never think of doing what is happening at schools and malls all around the country today, but because we as a society have become desensitized to violence over the generations do to repeated images of violence and death, its made it easier for someone who would do it, to do it. Idk. Just thought I'd say that maybe make you think more on it. There's much power in the words we use, so use them wisely. 😉
When will gang rape be called, "involuntary penetration" ? And if the victim is mentally messed up because of the violent gang rape, will be called, "She has IPS. (involuntary penetration syndrome) ?
Author, Thomas Paine wrote and amazing book called the “Age of Reason”. That shares George Carlin’s perspective on religion. It’s an eye opening review of religion.
George Carlin once said “I’m a comedian my job is essentially to think up goofy shit, or to point out things you already know but forgot to laugh at the first time” . Listen to his "Football vs Baseball" or "Our Similarities" , or one of his all time bits "The Seven Words you can never say on Television" that dates back to the Early 1970's before the internet before cable when you had only 3 national broadcast TV channels.
The biggest reason they kept changing the name of PTSD (Shellshock, Battle Fatigue, etc) is because it was becoming more common among civilians (due to surviving traumatic experiences: car crashes, witnessing murder, etc) and they were struggling to give said condition a non-military title.
Have you noticed that the more you censure media, the worse we treat each other? It's like we all say, DON'T SAY THAT! If you ask why? You'll get no answer.
The words don't get "longer" specifically...but they DO keep getting more and more "politically correct" - something you would say to avoid offending someone else. "toilet paper" - who wants to hear the word "toilet"? Let's call it "bathroom tissue"...that kind of thing. People may not want to be called handicapped, but there's nothing WRONG with the word - it shouldn't be seen as being offensive. It's offensive when you try to explain the condition with as many inoffensive words as possible. This is my #1 favorite Carlin routine, and I tend to listen to it at least a few times a year, usually from reactors who are just hearing his genius use of English for the first time. Awesome reaction, please check out Carlin's "7 words you can't say on television" next. He got arrested for doing this live at one point back in the 70's, and ended up being part of a court case that changed legal history: www.biography.com/news/george-carlin-seven-words-supreme-court. (Don't read this yet; it contains the 7 words at the beginning, so if you want to be surprised in the actual reaction video...)
I’m not deaf. But I took an intro to sign sign language class at my community college once, a few years ago. My teacher (who was deaf) explained to the class the origin of the term ‘handicapped’ and why the deaf community found it offensive. She said it referred to a hand (handi) and cap (hat) that a ‘beggar’ would hold out for money. In the old days, this was the only way anybody who was blind, paralyzed etc could get money - since their conditions restricted or eliminated their employment options. Of course, that’s not true today. I hadn’t know the terms origin but I remember thinking it was interesting.
Walking Wounded Carlin was saying that the system fooled that community into thinking that if their ‘handicap’ identifier was changed, it would change their condition....but that’s not accurate. That community themselves decided to change their identifier. And I know from my sign language teacher that being deaf Is a part of who she is and she doesn’t see her deafness as a disadvantage - so Carlin’s claim that the change came from a source outside of the community, and that the community embraced the change because they wanted to change their deafness , would rub a lot of people in the deaf community the wrong way. But hey, I’m sure there are deaf viewers who would find that joke hilarious. I’m just sharing what I learned from an actual deaf person.
@@louisruocco8523 Fair point, I'm sure it goes both ways. I think society does influence the "flowering" of language though, not just the affected community, right?
Walking Wounded sure, in that we all have to agree on the definitions and names of words. Like, we all need to agree to call a pencil a pencil etc etc.
Savings and Loans became just Banks. Probably because today most of us don't make enough to save and unless you have perfect credit you can't get a loan. So banks are just a place to store what money you have

@Michael O'Grady You just proved my point. The only real truth is nobody really knows for sure. However, if somebody put a gun to my head and forced me to guess, then I'd say no.
