I got the chance to see him live before he passed away. He killed the audience. He started w some local jokes about our shitty town and then broke into his regular stuff. For sure an influence on Bill Burr. He will be missed. 10/10.

I remember I was in school and the school year was just about to end we had two days left and summer was about to hit so we were all supposed to be happy. And when I found out he died we were in the library and people were upset. My friends especially because we were all big fans of his comedy. including our principal who had been a fan since he was a kid back in the '70s. I remember a friend of mine walked into the library and said. "Oh my God George Carlin passed away everybody is talking about it". And you could just feel it in the library everybody felt it, it was a sad. day the whole vibe for the rest of that day was just low. He was one of the guys that inspired me to pursue comedy him and Eddie Murphy of course.

His older stuff is a lot more diverse in topics and a lot more goofy and silly. Around "Complaints and Grievances" in 2001, he started getting angrier and jaded. It happens to a lot of us when we get old =P The big thing about George Carlin, is that his catalog is unmatched. He has so many specials and there is so much content to dig through. Branding was generally imposed upon convicts who received leniency from the court. would brand the criminals on the thumb of the right hand with various letters, “T” for theft, “F” for felon, or “M” for murder. Similar brands were issued to convicts who were found guilty of manslaughter instead of murder. Basically, if you were accused of a crime the judge would have you raise your right hand so he could see if you had ever been convicted of previous crimes by checking if your right thumb had a branding mark. Today it doesn't serve any purpose and is just done out of tradition.

Bought my first Carlin album in 1975 . He always made you laugh and you also learned some things listening to him.

I love George Carlin. After his wife died of cancer, he became very disillusioned with the church and somewhat bitter. But he was still funny.
He was already fairly atheistic way before Brenda died.
