You two will love “Black and White” by Three Dog Night. They are our high school era rock band. Mahalo for the memories…
“Black and White” and “Liar” are two of my favorites...
If you react to "Black and White",...... Please do the video version that depicts people of different cultures. It makes such a powerful statement with images.
I agree Black and White will become your newest fav!
Try to find the video of Black and White that has pictures of babies of all different colors
It will touch your hearts.
I love An Old Fashion Love Song then Black and White. Great era for good music 😊
Jay/Amber, you'll love their "Shambala" and "An Old Fashioned Love Song" !!!! edit- Chuck Negron on lead vocals.
An Old Fashioned Love Song!!
Also, Mama Told Me Not Go
@@timhonigs6859 they did Mama Told about a year ago
@@timhonigs6859 Mama told me not to come
Yes my favorites along with "Mama told me not to Come"
@@surlechapeau thanks. I was texting in a hurry on a break
They had so many hits. They were known as a songwriters favorite band because all of their hits were written by other folks. This was written by the late great Harry Nilsson. You need to look into his catalog of music.
I didn’t know he died and he was a great song writer.
Nilsson Schmillsson is a great album to start with!! 😎
Seconding the recommendation of Nilsson. There's a great documentary about him. I had no idea how many great songs he had written.
I’ve heard that Harry Nilsson was John Lennon and McCartney’s favorite singer…. He had an amazing vocal range…
Harry was unique (and a fellow Brooklynite!). Son of Schmilsson is Nuts!
The Three Dog Night actually had THREE lead singers, each with a very distinctive voice, who all traded off singing lead, depending on the song. Corey Wells, Danny Hutton and Chuck Negron.
Family of Man does a good job of showcasing all three singers.
Chuck takes the lead on this one, and in my opinion has the best voice of the 3….
This song was written by Harry Nilsson, who was an amazing singer himself, with a few big hits as well, like Without You, Everybody’s Talking, Coconut, Without Her, and Remember…
Yes they did, and each one had a unique stylism!
I know you have already reacted to Three dog night Joy to the world but I think that is my very favorite Three dog night song
@@richardb6260 Along with Celebrate!!
“Joy To The World” may be their most famous song, written by Hoyt Axton, who also wrote “Never Been To Spain”. “Eli’s Coming” and “Celebrate” are great under-rated songs. This song was written by Harry Nilsson.
You can't forget " Mama Told Me Not to Come - Shambala - Old Fashioned Love Song"
@@Renkk17 , they did “Mama….” already. And I love those two, but there are too many to suggest!
They've already done most of what you all have mentioned, I'm pushing for Black and White.
@@magneto7930 , only “Mama Told Me Not To Come” that I saw.
There biggest hit and my least favorite from them. They had scores of better songs, many of them covers.
Amber is just a pure old soul you can tell by the way she feels the music
With a band full of lead singers you really can't go wrong with any song you choose.
^THIS^
@@tjsogmc Chuck is my personal favorite
You have to hear " Three Dog Night - Shambala" See the guys singing it on stage!
There is no lead singer, they all take turns singing on a bunch of songs!
If you haven't heard "Mama Told me Not to Come" It's a Must! and "Old Fashioned Love Song"
(Shambala) is my favorite TDN song
They've done Mama Told Me Not to Come already.
Eli's Coming has got to be your next 3 Dog Night song to listen to! Great tune!!
Live in ‘75!
There is a 'live' performance ua-cam.com/video/-9y6pXcIl20/v-deo.html that is clearly lip synced but they are having so much fun laughing about it - I love it!
So glad you did this song, not many reactors have. I believe it was their 2nd biggest hit after Joy to the World. Old Fashioned Love Song would be a great next choice. The lead singer on this song is Chuck Negron, the other singers are Cory Wells (Mama Told Me Not to Come) and Danny Hutton.
To not be in the RRHOF is shameful. They deserve to get in before anyone else followed by The Guess Who.
Stolen from Wikipedia but, this is an incredible stat. 'The band had 21 Billboard Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975, with three hitting number one.' Even if they only had 3 # 1's that is very impressive. I originally thought that all their songs were top 40.
@@zeppelinfan9360 that's because it's a bogus Hall of Fame. It's a shame they even call it a ROCK and Roll HOF.
This was actually their first hit ever; I think it was ‘69? The flip side is their killer version of the Band’s Chest Fever!
Old Fashioned Love Song the single version is best.
The greatest cover band in American history. Try their versions of "Shambala", "Easy To Be Hard", and "Eli's Comin' ". I had the pleasure of seeing TDN do this in person during the time this was a hit. I saw them during that period twice in all. That's Chuck Negron doing the lead on this song.
Easy to Be Hard is my favorite
Eli's coming live version is a must!!
Everyone is a cover band, Frank Sinatra never wrote songs etc. If you make the song a hit, its really not a cover.
Great list! I'd add Liar.
I adore "Shambala."
Now you're talkin'! Great song. "Eli's Coming" is another great one from Three Dog Night as well.
I loved this band. They didn't have a bad song. In the late 60s, early 70s they were all over the air waves. If you really like this vibe, try Easy To Be Hard. It was their version of a song from the musical Hair.
Yes, not only Their best but one of THE best songs Ever!Powerful and thought -provoking.
Yes to Easy To Be Hard!!
They have some good message songs like Family of Man, Out in the Country, and Black and White. You'd enjoy those.
"Out in the Country" has always been my personal favorite, even though it may not have been on charts. It is one of the earliest songs about taking care of our planet. It is also easy and fun to play on guitar...and virtually the same vibe as the most groovy "Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys" by the magnificent Traffic, featuring Steve Winwood, of Blind Faith fame. It brings great joy that you are breathing new life into hip music and speech. Far out man!
Out In The Country my all time favorite song, period. I hope RSR gets around to it.
@@uncledavesbrigade7106 yes me too👍🏻
Out In The Country is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded, IMO!
@@philpartynski3125 Life is short. Don't waste it listening to bad music. :)
This song was originally written and recorded by Harry Nilsson, who I think you probably have reacted to his song "Everybody's Talkin", if not you should listen to it. Aimee Mann has another version on the Soundtrack to the film Magnolia, which is also really great.
"Everybody's Talking" was originally written and recorded by Fred Neil.
@@StevenMichals0812 That's cool. I don't know who Fred Neil is, but it's an amazing song. The song in this video is written by Harry Nilsson.
Thanks for the Aimee Mann shout out, she is one of my favs.
Three Dog Night was such a cool group….one is the loneliest number! So easy to sing!
Beautiful and moving. You should check out Black and White,Easy to be Hard,Shambala, Old Fashion Love Song
I've always loved 3 Dog Night.
Such a variety in their songs, from fun, to impactful
"Shambala", "An Old Fashioned Love Song", & “Black and White” are 3 more classic songs from Three Dog Night you should check out.
YES. I just recommended "Shambala". But, exactly these three, in this order. ✌️
A nugget from them is their version of “Try a Little Tenderness”. Cory Wells just kills the vocals on it.
You've hit a couple of their major hits. For a mellow track with great harmonies try "Old Fashioned Love Song," but maybe their best record was "Mama Told Me Not to Come".
Well, I see now you've already done "Mama ..." Maybe check it out again now when you feel like it.
'MTMNTC' written by Randy Newman!!
"OFLS" written by Paul Williams
That ain’t the way to have fun
@@waynecanning4122 When he got home late that night, I wonder if he told his Mama: "You were right"?
A great live performance by Three Dog Night is "Eli's Coming" from the 1975 Soundstage TV show...It's on UA-cam. They start by showing off their individual vocal skills. It's awesome. It would make a good video reaction for you.
Agree 💯 %!
ABSOLUTELY!!!
This is a great band period. They could listen almost every one of their songs. Can’t go wrong with Three Dog Night. Would like to you react to more Chicago. You should do a 70’s day like you have your Friday Women’s day just a suggestion. Love what you guys do. Keep up the great work.
Agree.
How about picking a band or artist that was popular and devote a day to that one person, band etc?
@@Sam-lx9sc That's a great idea, something unique.
"Easy to Be Hard" I notice some other people have mentioned this song as a Three Dog Night must-hear. It's my favorite by the band. It's originally from Hair, the same "hippy" musical that "Aquarius/Where's the Sunshine" came from. I think you will really be touched by the message of this beautiful song and the voice that sings it. It's a message that very much holds true to this day.
Pieces of April! That’s the next one to do. Three Dog Night really brought out the dynamics on tenderness on that one.
"Out in the Country" and "Liar" are my faves by them. Three Dog Night are kind of unique in that they have 3 lead singers in addition to the backing band.
Out in the Country....so underrated.
This song actually isn't a 70s song - it was released in 1969, only a few months before I was born. The song was actually recorded the year before by Harry Nilsson. It become 3DN's first ever Top 10 hit. This was followed up with "Easy to Be Hard", which is definitely one you should add to your list. The vocalists' names are Danny Hulton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells. Michael Allsup was the guitarist, Jimmy Greenspoon played keyboards, Joe Schermie played bass, and Floyd Sneed was the drummer. Danny, who turns 80 this year, is still leading the band!
Personally, I think "One" and "Eli's Coming" are tied for their best song. "Shambala" would also be a good song to do next
Oh, Eli’s Coming. Forgot about that one. Great reminder
Love both Eli's Coming and Shambala.
Shambala is one of those songs that takes you back to a time and a place and a feel. This song takes you back to the hippie trail in Nepal in the 60's and 70's and a time when the world seemed like a better place.
"Liar." Despite being a Rod Argent tune that they covered.
Have to add in "Easy To Be Hard", makes it a 3 way tie
I just attended a Three Dog Night concert two nights ago. They still got it ! The crowd went wild! "Joy to the world" and "Celebrate" are great ones to listen to next.
The members were Chuck Negron, Cory Wells and Danny Hutton...who took turns singing lead...Jimmy Greenspoon, Michael Allsup, Joe Schermetzler and Floyd Sneed.
Amber, you'll like Three Dog Night "Out In the Country"
Old fashion love song, Old fashion love song (live) pieces of April. Out in the country, Shambala …Try a little tenderness ☮️💜. Do lives when you can, they’re pretty funny sometimes
-" out in the country " yesss-
This is Chuck on lead on this one, he had the beautiful vibrato to his voice, they had three lead singers, one would take lead and the other two would sing backup when needed. Cory was also a lead on several songs including Never Been to Spain...and Danny was the other singer. Joy to the World, Black or White, Shambala, Easy to be Hard, Eli's Coming, Liar, Just an Old Fashioned Love Song...they have so many hits.
Chuck was always my favorite.
There are 3 lead singers! Unheard of, even today. This is Chuck Negron singing. One of the best falsetto ever.
Three Dog Night had 3 lead singers... that made them VERY versatile... killer band!
Check out Three Dog Night’s, “Easy to be Hard”. Incredible vocals.
You should always do a live version of them performing. Awesome talent!
My thought also. They are really entertaining.
Three Dog night was amazing back in the day.. The Late Cory Wells sung many of the Vocals and this tune is sung by Chuck Negron who up until last year was still touring. I met Chuck at a meet and great after a show in Wildwood NJ and he was a really funny cool guy
RIP Corey Wells.
One of the best bands ever in live performance. The three Dogs and the back up band too! 3DN rocks!! Just a great band back in the day. Written by Harry Nilson. Thanks!
Three Dog Night had 3 singers. One would sing lead and the other two would sing backup and counter point. They just traded off who was lead based on whose voice fit the song best. This time it was Chuck Negron on lead.
This song was playing all the time on the radio! Great, great song! Underrated band, wonderful voices, so into life! Great!
“Eli’s Coming” better hide your heart girl!
There are three different lead singers in the band. Chuck, here, Corey who you heard in Never Been to Spain, and Danny in Black and White. Their harmonies and backing vocals for each other are so good.
3 Dog Night: Try a Little Tenderness. You’ll thank me.
But...Otis be's better!
Love to see your reaction to "Eli's Coming," "Easy to Be Hard," and "Just an Old - Fashioned Love Song."
That was awesome guys I forgot about this song for the longest time because I have not heard this on the radio for quite some time
Shambala, Joy to the world, Black and white. Great 70s band
"Eli's Coming," "Out in the Country" or "Pieces of April" would be great for a next song from Three Dog Night.
Those are my top three! Love all of them but especially those!
This is an underrated group. They have grown on me because of these reaction videos. They also are a fun group to watch. I wish I had seen them back in the day.
"Shambala" has to be next. It's a hippie song Amber. These guys have a great catalog no bad choices.
Plus it features Chuck Negron's harmony vocals.
There are so many TND hits and deep cuts from their many albums that you will like. A few to try are: Liar, Eli's Coming, Pieces of April, Out In The Country, Shambala, Momma Told Me Not To Come, Easy To Be Hard, etc. I saw them a few times during my high school years. I also have all of their albums. Such a good band.
Fun fact: Three Dog Night recorded a Lennon/McCartney song: "It's For You". Almost completely a capella. I don't know if the Beatles ever recorded it.
They did a live version that was amazing. It’s on UA-cam
I understand the Beatles thought the song did not suite there style so gave it to their good friend from Liverpool Cilla Black. As seen on her TV show ;
ua-cam.com/video/B4HC1IfpYBw/v-deo.html
With Paul and John present. Some Beatles imitators have released versions to fool us. But there are scraps of the abandoned Beatles tests of the song.
Love 3DN. Eli's Coming next! Great reaction!
Live version on Sound Stage.
Written by Harry Nilsson. Inspired by the busy signal on the phone when he placed a call. Notice the Busy signal rhythm (if you're old enough to remember one of those).
This song was written by Tom Evans and Pete Ham of the group Bad Finger. I think their version of this song is the best one.
@@honeymonkey6105No. They wrote Without You which was covered by Harry Nilsson. But Nilsson definitely wrote One.
This is a group with 3 lead singers. Can you believe it.This song is another lead singer. It's for the great harmony it brings.
I love this song. Those really were the days for some great music. Thanks for reacting to them. ❤️
They have a long list of great songs ☮️💜
Please do "Eli's Coming" LIVE on Soundstage, next.
Out In The Country is one of the most awesome laid back beautiful songs ever made. and ''Shambala'' is super as well...
The name of their band has an interesting origin. The name refers to the night being so cold you need the insulation of three dogs to keep warm!
You have to watch them live to truly appreciate the talent of all 3 lead singers
Three dog night consist of three lead singers, that's why you hear different voices on different songs, one of the great bands of the late 60's early 70's. another one of those bands is Tower of Power, suggest "Your still a young man" great horn 🎺🎷 section. Thank you Peace! ☮
I especially like TOP's So Very Hard To Go. 😊
Recently, you reacted to Til Tuesday's Voices Carry. Lead singer Aimee Mann does a great cover of this!
My favorite 70's group!
Three Dog Nog- Shambala!!! My favorite
Love this channel. I look forward to all three videos daily to help me enjoy my evenings. 😊❤️
More U2 please! “One”, “With or Without You”, “New Year’s Day” all will touch your heart and soul. I promise you!!
Nilsson wrote the song after calling someone and getting a busy signal. He stayed on the line listening to the "beep, beep, beep, beep..." tone, writing the song. The busy signal became the opening notes.
This song "One" was written by Harry Nilsson & became a big hit for Three Dog Night. They are an American-Irish rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Some other great songs are "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", Eli's Coming", Shambala", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.
3 lead singers...hence....wait for it....three dog night....
@@rafaelrosario5331 Actually the name came from an Australian Aboriginal saying. On cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground while embracing a dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs & if the night were freezing, it was a "three dog night".
I know that saying.....this is as it applies to the band...no worries just enjoy the music
@@rafaelrosario5331I think more information is fun and makes music more enjoyable--nothing wrong with it. All the best.
“Easy to be Hard” is another haunting slow jam from them you guys would like.
The band had 3 lead singers that took turns back in the day. Chuck Negron sang the lead vocals on this song
Three Dog Night is one of the most underrated bands of all time!!! Also one of the greatest bands of all time!!!
Excellent choice🙂🙂.
Darius Rucker " Don't think I don't think about it " is also a reaction worthy song!!!
love this song!!! another great reaction you two!!!
Three Dog Night was one of the biggest bands of the early 70s, don't underestimate their influence. So many hit records...they had a great great run.
Three dog night have so many great songs I cannot pick any favorite
"One" was written by Harry Nilsson. So you HAVE to do: Harry Nilsson: Without You. It'll blow you away when he hits the chorus.
The best version is by the group Bad Finger. Two of the members, Tom Evans and Pete Ham, wrote the song.
Oh Yeah! Nilsson's version is the one for me.
Nilsson made amazing records of songs written by other people.
Of course I had to immediately watch this one! This song just makes me feel a certain way.
There's a live version of their song "Eli's Coming" on UA-cam where the leads take turns on the opening of the song that really shows off their respective power vocals. I agree with Amber about the song, "One." I had a roommate who once blasted "One is the Loneliest Number," right after I had a relationship break-up. He didn't know, but it was devastating to listen to that song right then.
Look for their "Soundstage" performance from 1975.
All the songs from it are on UA-cam, including that one, where, of the three singers, Danny really shows off his lung power and high range at the beginning of the song.
Yes, that's the one! ;o)
"Eli's Coming". "Old Fashioned Love Song". "Easy To Be Hard". So much good music from Three Dog Night.
Harry Nillson who wrote the song has a great version too. Also the live version of Eli's Coming by Three Dog Night is fantastic!
This was a huge hit for them. Check out Aimee Mann’s very different (Beatle-esque) cover of “One” from the “Magnolia” film soundtrack.
"Liar" is my favorite of theirs. Catchy and kind of haunting.
Very well produced records. Three Dog Night was a great act & they were produced by Ritchie Podlar.
Shambala is a great song.
Oklahoma legend, Hoyt Axton, wrote "Joy to the World," the super-upbeat hit by Three Dog Night.
Axton also wrote 'The Pusher'. A multi-dimensional talent.
Have loved this band since they first came onto the music scene back in the 60s. I even got to play with them in the 90s. Great group of guys and a fantastic band.
👍👍👍👍👍
I grew up with these powerfully persuasive bands… And hell yeah… 3 Dog Night filled the air MANY nights in my sweet ’68 Goat… Gotta love those old 8 tracks…
Keep bringing your love ❤️… We can’t wait to hear more… Much love to y’all both…
Jay, Amber, they had 3 lead singers in the group and they took turns being the lead singer. Danny , Chuck and Cory are their names. The was Chuck Nugen on lead. Not sure if I spelled his name right.
John here Chuck's last name is spelled Negrun
Chuck Negron
Anyone know what the name means? In judging cold Eskimos say the coldest is a three dog night. Means sleep w 3 dogs.
The official commentary included in the CD set Celebrate: The Three Dog Night Story, 1964-1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton's girlfriend, actress June Fairchild (best known as the "Ajax Lady" from the Cheech and Chong movie Up In Smoke) suggested the name after reading a magazine article about indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground while embracing a dingo (wild dog). On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and, if the night was freezing, it was a "three dog night". They wanted to include the "3" in the band's name to play off the idea that the band had 3 lead singers.
The late great and tragically unappreciated (Still not in Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame) Harry Nilsson wrote this song while on the phone listening to a busy signal. He has written so much, but his Grammys are both for songs he did not write, they being Everybody's Talking and Without You. Harry Nilsson is a Rabbit Hole you would want to get lost in. And there is a TV movie that he did called The Point, that I think you both will love and so will your kids. Has a great lesson about accepting differences.
Three Dog Night was a great band with many great songs and I think people have forgotten about them so I’m glad you’re bringing back their songs
Who votes YES for reactions to: Celebrate, Black and White, Shambala, Old-Fashioned Love Song, and Easy To Be Hard.
Love your reactions, Jay and Amber. I’m so glad you found Three Dog Night. I never thought of The Doors, but can appreciate your comparison. Two quintessential TDN tunes you need to hear are Black And White and the album cut of The Show Must Go On. Both are excellent!
i was 8 years old when this song came out.... it was THE song that made me fall in love with music...!!!
This is, by far, my FAVORITE Three Dog Night song, and I love the majority of their music!!! There are a lot of cool live performances of this song by Three Dog Night.
They were my first concert❤️ They were such a talented band with 3 great singers. Chuck was my favorite! SO many hits!!
Joy To The World is a must hear. Great song!
If you want to rock, feel like you just went to church, AND appreciate 3 amazing voices...listen to "Eli's Coming"....it will rock your world!!!!
You need to listen to the live version of "Eli's Coming"...Also The Show Must Go On, Mama Told Me Not to Come, Black and White. All 3 lead singers have tremendous voices.
