"Never Been to Spain" "One" "Shambala" "Eli's Comin" "Black and White" "Family of Man" "The Show Must Go On" "Pieces of April" "Easy to Be Hard" "Just an Old Fashioned Love Song" "Celebrate" "Liar" and many more. TDN had over 20 top 40 hits in the few years they were around. They dominated the radio in the first half of the 70's. They were HUGE.
I second "Never Been to Spain" excellent choice.
They will love Just an Old Fashion Love Song.
@@HG-cv4ru Never Been to Spain is a song written for you two. Check it out.
I still know every word to this song!! They have a wide range of lyrics & emotion in their music. This was just for fun!! Sing “Jeremiah was a bullfrog...” and EVERYONE will know the next line.
Still love Chuck Negron. Just saw him in concert. Not a bad come back after he was rescued by the salvation army in LA' s skid row.
"Jeremiah was a bullfrog" is one of the most memorable 1st lines of any song.
He always supplied great wine 🐸🍷
And he was a great friend
"Frog" was a nickname for somebody from France. "I never understead a single word he said but he always had some mighty fine wine" sounds like a reference to having a French born friend that you got along with, despite the language problems.
For sure!
This and Bad Bad Leroy Brown. Are the songs that were ones you can not know if you were born 58 to64.
My name is Joy. I was born in 1963 and when this song came out in 1971 when I was 8, it became my life signature song. Still is now at the age of 61..
The genuine, joyful reaction of these two young people warms my heart.
That's what we really wanted as a generation. We had to tell the truth by protesting, but our hearts wanted Joy for all the World.
Indeed!
They're so sweet aren't they?
Every time I hear this song, I remember our priest announcing the next hymn is Joy to the World (Christmas song) and my little brother of five-years-old literally jumped up in the seat and screamed Jerimiah was a bull frog. Our mother and rest of family denied knowing the lost little boy.
Hi Daniel! Your story made me laugh SOO much! It was just so precious! I think small children are literally out on this earth just to embarrass their elders! Lol! Peace and Blessings to you and your family!
Omg! So many great funny stories on these comments. My generation has tortured our Grandkids so much with this song that they probably have bullfrog nightmares.
🤣😅🤣😅🤣
That is too funny maybe he just wanted to help him drink his wine.
@@wendyryder2708 That was fifty years ago and us four siblings bring it up every Christmas to him.
Probably the most famous opening line in rock & roll history: "Jeremiah was a bullfrog!" I wholeheartedly agree you should check out the other songs listed here in comments. They were an amazing group.
Exactly what I was going to say
You couldn't have gone to a wedding in the 70's without hearing this song. People who couldn't remember the title would call it 'Jeremiah was a bullfrong'
The 1970’s was magical musically. This is a page right out of my memory. I was about seven years old but the kids dug it too
THE 70s were KILLER IM 63 so i remember my fav decade of FANTASTIC MUSIC
Jay/Amber, you'll love their "Shambala" ,"Never Been to Spain" and "An Old Fashioned Love Song" are next for you!! That is Chuck Negron on lead vocals. Chuck, Cory Wells and Danny Hutton all took turns on lead vocals on their songs
You are missing One is the loneliest number and Easy to be Hard... They are a must also!!
I was just going to recommend Shambala!
'Pieces of April'.
Oh, I am so going down a Three Dog Night rabbit hole tonight.
Never Been To Spain next!
Add my vote for Shambala
This band has three actual lead singers at once. Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuck Negron are their names, and Chuck sang lead on this while Cory sang lead on Momma Told Me.
Exactly 💯 ! 😊
Cory Wells is a tragic story. Junkie who died penniless. When we saw them around 10 years ago, the other two sang his songs and still sounded good
@@bretdalton3268 From what I have read, he died of multiple myeloma, was married to his wife for 50 years and did not partake in drugs and alcohol.
CHuck Necron was a beast. I was a Senior in Hugh School in 1973. They were HUGE!
THEN YOU ARE MY AGE! Wasnt it such a great time for rock! It was an iconic group! and to wait for the Midnight Special was a must!
A fun song to sing along with 😅
This song was written by the great Hoyt Axton, who was not only a songwriter and singer, but a busy actor. His mother was also a songwriter.
His mother wrote one of Elvis's biggest hits too.
Hoyt played the father in the first Gremlins movie!
"Black and White" is a must listen from these guys. JOY was a sure hit for any D J trying to get the dance floor filled.
I absolutely agree! One of my favorite songs by 3DN!
Black and White was written by my parents's friend Earl Robinson originally as a children's song.
I agree with you 💯
YES! "Black and White".
Yesssss X10
“Eli’s Coming”, “One”, Pieces of April”, so many hits with this group. Love 3 Dog Night ❤️❤️❤️
Please check out I like to rock by April Wine from the 80's
Out in the Country after those
"Joy to the World" was the #1 record of all of 1971. It sat on top for six weeks.
You don't remember the voice from "Mama Told Me" because the group had THREE lead singers. Cory Wells sang lead on "Mama Told Me", Chuck Negron song lead on "Joy to the World". For Chuck's softer side, listen to "An Old-Fashioned Love Song", and to hear Danny Hutton, he did lead on "Black and White".
After awhile it'll be possible to tell them apart on the records.
Massive hit from a massive group in early 70s late 60s. Joy to the world is iconic & anyone from thst era or into classic rock knows this instantly.
This was my father's absolute favorite song. Sadly, he passed away several years ago. When we were talking to the funeral director about music for his service, he asked us what his favorite song was. My mother and I looked at each other, then at him, and in unison said, "Joy To The World." He smiled and said, "Oh, he liked carols." My mother and I laughed for the first time in several days, and both shook our heads. I was finally able to answer, "No, the one by Three Dog Night." The poor gentleman just stared at us for a minute until he realized which song we meant. lol I hear this song, and it's so joyful, but bittersweet, too. Thank you so much for reacting to this one, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as my family does.
I liked that story. Made me smile. I’ve become fond of that word bittersweet.
God bless your dad in heaven. If he loved this song he was a wonderful joyful man and someone God would want with him.
Black and White is one of the best "everyone get along" songs ever written. Please do that one.
I agree with you 💯%
It was so popular. We were all walking down the halls singing "Jeremiah was a bullfrog !!!!!" Very catchyyy.
Three Dog Night had 3 lead singers. Chuck Negron is the one singing this song. I suggest that you listen to Shambala,Family of Man,Pieces of April,Out in the Country,Never Been to Spain and Liar (which is a cover of an old Argent song. We really enjoy your show. Rock On.
My baby boy loves "One"
I was also thinking of "Never Been to Spain" and "Shambala", but "One" is even more iconic. Throw in "Black and White"... they're ALL winners.
They’ve got a lot of hits with 3 different lead singers Chuck Negron sings this one ☮️💜. Old Fashioned Love Song ( live). Eli’s Coming. Shambala. One. Never Been to Spain. Pieces of April. Liar. Black and White
Sorry but that’s Chuck singing Joy to the world
That's Chuck Negron on lead.
Actually it's Chuck on this one, not Danny, altho he/Cory sang backup. ;-)

The smile on Amber’s face made this video one of my all-time favorites on this channel. The song is a favorite, but Amber’s reaction takes it next level!
When she went back and her face and her gesture was awesome!!!
Joy to the world Came out in 1971 . I was 10 in Kodiak Alaska I remember the spot i was standing on.. Looking at Down town It was playing on the radio I was a Fan at 10 years old ,,Hot Dam i miss the 70s
Journey and 3 dog night Chuck looks so much like Steve Perry with a Mustache This song came out in 1971 , The Good ole 70s
I was a child when this came out. It's hard to express what a popular song this was. Because of its positive vibe it was played everywhere, even in elementary school. Song of the year? Even though Iwas a kid, the hippy theme was not lost on me. Hippy for life!
Well, at this moment I’m in Midland, Tx, a Jr in high school on a yellow school bus after our choir made sweepstakes and we are all singing “Jeremiah was a bullfrog…” at the top of our lungs. Thanks for the 1972 memories! 🤗
1972 baby here 🙋🏻♀️

You have a few years on me. I am in 4th grade north of Pittsburgh. My class sang this in a choral event we did where every class traveled to all the other classes singing a song.
OMG I just added a comment along these same lines! We used to sing the song on the bus on field trips. Greetings, fellow 70s child!
Joy To the World released April 1971.
“Never Been to Spain” is another great song by Three Dog Night!
Classic
You need to do Never Been to Spain as it mentions Oklahoma!
Right! But please don't do the live performance when they're in their 60's or older. Great song, but the voices didn't age well.
Chuck Negron had such a powerful and amazing voice
Love it! I forgot how soulful this one was. Great 70's band... Three Dog Night had so many hits, and the vocal harmonies were a big part of it. And all so positive and life-affirming.
Actually, from the 60s But 3 Dog night was HUGE in the 70s though...
Love Three Dog Night, you should check out Shambala or Black And White. Both great songs
Sung by a different lead vocalist, but the song "Out in the Country" is just magical.
Liar!
Shambala is almost a religious experience! ;)
Soooooo many hits!
…just gettin’ started 😃
You need to play live “An Old Fashioned Love Song” You will see all three singers and their individual sounds.
This song is time travel to 1971.❤
As someone who's first name is Jeremiah, it was hard to grow up without someone mentioning this song. In my childhood it was kinda annoying but as I turn 30 all I can do it embrace it. It's a a great song and I love watching people react to it for the first time.
Joy To The World was written by Hoyt Axton. He also wrote Never Been To Spain which Three Dog Night also recorded.
Hoyt was also in "Gremlins".
Hoyt had several hits as a country music singer himself. "Evangelina", "Boney Fingers", but my favorite of course is "Lion in the Winter" with Linda Ronstadt. He had a tremendous bass voice. He's also from Oklahoma..
Next….”One”…”Celebrate”…and, “Out in the Country”. Three Dog Night recorded so many wonderful songs !
Definitely ONE. Written by Harry Nilsson. Uh huh.
out in the country
"The Show Must Go On" - You love his voice? You definitely need this song! This song must go on!!!
My favorite song of theirs.
My favorite xoxo
Chuck Negron is the lead singer on _Joy To The World_ I sent you an email a month ago with some Three Dog Night songs. One I thought you would really like is called _Out In The Country._ 🥺 Actually, Three Dog Night has a song called "One." 😆 You should listen to that song also.
This is the first song I ever learned! I was 3 and my mom taught me this song. She said we went to a restaurant and I sang this song as loud as I could and everyone in the restaurant laughed and clapped. This song absolutely has a special place in my heart. Great song to react to!
Three Dog Night is an unsung band. It's a shame they're not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
They should be in the Hall for sure!
WHAT??? TIme to start a petition (that's how they get in)
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a joke. It's obviously not based on merit, but who's hands get greased.
@@bmw128racer Yes, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has become a joke and it is too bad because there are so many bands who should be inducted that are not.
The lead singer was Chuck Negron.
When I was a child in the 70s this was my favourite song. I remember begging my mom to let me spend my allowance on this album. I think it was the first album I ever bought with my own money, and I still have it.
All of them can sing . Look up “ Eli’s Coming “… live performance . Stellar
Eli's Coming is fire!
My sister named her first cat Eli…because he came into the room while the song Eli’s coming was playing…lol
Yes! This one!
Eli' s Coming is a great song but listen to the studio version before the live version. The studio version tells the whole story, in the live version is somewhat overdone. They might have had an alcoholic beverage or so + whatever else and it is a little odd. But I LOVED Three Dog Night. They were great and like other 70" s groups they were eclectic.
Hard to describe how big these guys were in the 70's. Three lead singers...all with a great voice.
I'm 56 years old and this was my favorite song when I was in first grade! I remember it like yesterday! THANK YOU GUYS! You're always bringing awesome stuff. Keep fighting the good fight! 😜
I'm about the same age. I remember singing this while swinging on the swing set at recess. Great memory.
Chuck Negron (the singer) is still touring today as a solo artist. He survived a druggy life and is very healthy today. Check out his solo video here on You tube.
This is a pretty big music box to open you two. Back in the seventies these guys always had something playing on the radio. "One (is the loneliest number), "Shambala", "Never Been to Spain", "Celebrate", "Easy to be Hard", "Black or White".
The 3 lead singers were Cory Wells (RIP), Chuck Negron and Danny White.
Gonna throw Old Fashioned Love Song to that radio list as well.
Danny Hutton is the only surviving member
@@garybeemer2339 Chuck Negron is still alive. Danny Hutton is the only one still touring as Three Dog Night though.
Thanks for not saying "rabbit hole'...👍👏👏.. hope more commenters will use 'music box" from now on
Written by Hoyt Axton, a great singer, and writer himself. By the way, his mother cowrote Heartbreak Hotel the hit by Elvis.
The thing I appreciated most about the song was his command of English-
"If I WERE the King of the World..." correct grammatical use of the subjunctive voice!
Three Dog Night is a deep rabbit hole of greats. "Out In The Country" is the "Before the breathing air is gone" environmental song when everyone in the audience held up their lighters in tribute. "Never been to Spain" was my cousin's favorite RIP. I can't name my favorite because I love all that others a saying.
The three part harmony is what still gives them that sound
Reminds me of an old fashioned love song
Remember singing this at a nursing home as a group in elementary school - they loved it! And so did we!
I remember singing this song a lot when in kindergarten back in the 70's . I smile every time I heat this song.
This song never fails to bring a smile to my face! Drop the phrase "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" into any conversation and you'll get interesting results. If you pursue them, I'd go for Shambala next, followed by Old Fashioned Love Song.
We've forgotten more music than you've heard and love you reminding us.
TDN are such an underrated band!! Please check out their songs "Shambala" & "Easy To Be Hard" & "Mama Told Me Not To Come" 🎶💗🎶 Keep smiling!! ✨😁✨
They have been one of my most favorite bands, ever, most of my life, along with Steppenwolf. These bands bring back my childhood,
@@elizabeths50 Amen!!! We are lucky to have these songs and bands as the soundtrack to our childhoods... 🥰🎶🥰
Three dog night was the supergroup of the early 70's with more than 20 top 40 hits. Deep rabbit home and a lot of variety. As a lot of folks have said, this is Chuck Negron on lead, Cory Wells sang lead on "Momma Told Me Not to Come." A lot of folks have recommended "Black and White," which is a great song with a great backstory. Danny Hutton sings lead on that one. Great reaction, too.
I'm 56 years old so I grew up with Three Dog Night and Elvis(I was 12 when Elvis died, for days America cried), Can you imagine hearing all of this everyday on your radio including BeeGees, Diana Ross, Aretha, James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Meatloaf, Marvin Gaye, Chuck Berry, Chubby Checker, Lil Richard, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Beatles, Eagles, Wings, Chicago, Steve Miller Band, Dolly, Kenny Rogers, KISS, AC/DC, RunDMC MCHammer, Elton John, Glenn Campbell, Don McLean, Ray Price, Charlie Pride, Ray Charles, The Jackson Five, Michael Jackson, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, ELO, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, RamJam, Madonna, Blondie, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Beach Boys, The Commodores, ABBA, Sly and the Family Stone, Little River Band, Alabama, Hootie n the Blowfish, Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd The Police, Judas Priest, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Allman Brothers Band, The Who, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, The Doors, Foreigner, Styx, whew just to name a few,,,,,,
One of the greatest harmonies Bands of the early 70s. Great.
Oh yes, they had a TON of hits, and everything else was of the highest quality as well! A truly Great band!
“Out in the Country” by Three Dog Night was custom made for Amber. And it is my favorite TDN song! Even if you don’t react to it, do yourself a favor and listen to it!
The D-D7-G-Bb chord progression on "Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea" is something I loved since I first heard it as a kindergartener back in 1970. I didn't know why until I started actually playing music. That set of chords lets the bass "walk down" the notes D-C-B-Bb.
It's still one of my favorite bands.
I was in 7 th grade when this song came out. It was our class song- every Friday our teacher would play this song and everyone got out of their chairs and let loose.
Three Dog Nights ruled the charts from early mid 70s. One, Black & White and Never Been to Spain you must check out.
Very cool teacher.
I was in Kindergarten when this came out and same thing in my class...can still remember it clearly.
This was a super big hit in 1971 ,,
I was a senior when Joy came out and it became our class song too. Love it!!!
You will love ‘Never been to Spain’ by Three dog night, is a classic.
YES!! 👍🏻😃❣️
As for the other song you reacted to, Cory Wells was the lead singer on Mama Told Me Not to Come, a humorous fun rocker! This one is sung by Chuck Negron. Black and White is a song that you will absolutely love by Three Dog Night, with lead vocals by Danny Hutton! But seriously, you can't go wrong with any of their songs.
Plus, they listened to a live version of that song for the first listen. I love live music as much as anyone but that's a major no-no when hearing a great song for the first time IMHO Lol
@@michaelderamo1866 I totally agree, I always say NEVER listen to a live version for a first listen!
Danny Hutton gets the credit, I guess because he’s the lead singer. Definitely not saying you are wrong though. Not looking for a disagreement.

"Easy to be Hard" is great and so is "One", "Never been to Spain", "Just an Old Fashioned Love Song" and so many others.
Oooh, yes! “Just an old fashioned love song” is FANTASTIC

😂😭🤣😂
Oh, that's too funny!
🤣😅🤣❣️
we sang this in elementary school music class , circa 1973 , and all the boys sang the "you know i love the ladies " part !!!, brings back memories
I absolutely love Three Dog Night.
You can grab a Three Dog Night "Best of" or Greatest Hits CD, and play it for those young ones. Pretty sure the whole family will love all of those songs.
Three Dog Night is an American-Irish rock band from the 60's-70's. This band had a lot of energy. They had 3 guys with great voices that could all sing lead vocals. Some other great songs are "One", "Just An Old fashioned Love Song", Eli's Coming", Shambala", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Try A Little Tenderness", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.

Three Dog Night - Black & White
🎸🤘
“Eli’s Coming” is a good one too from this band and all three sing
I know the motor home driver for the current Three Dog Night band and he gave us free tickets to see them in concert near Columbus Ohio right before the pandemic. They sounded so good! I got to go backstage and meet the band.Danny Hutton, one of the original founding members sang most of the leads and if you closed your eyes, you'd swear you were back in the 70s.Chuck Negron sings Joy To The World.
I saw them live circa '72. One of my all time favorite concerts, they tore the place down! This video looks very neat and organized, but they were a wild party band. Michael Allsup, their lead guitar player, is one of the all time great guitar players, yet very under rated. They had a heavy Hammond/Leslie sound that would fill a concert hall.
I wanted to name my son Jeremiah with Jeremy being his nickname but his dad said we are not naming him after a bullfrog, but he did say Jeremy was ok for his name lol. ALWAYS loved this song and still do to this day! His voice is what has stuck with me over the years!!! Thank you reacting and sharing this with us! ~peace
Kid probably dodged that bu##et, Pearl Jam's would have been like 180 from joy to the world.🤷♂️
Chuck Negron is lead singer on this song but they each have lead on their other songs. I got Chuck's autograph after a show in Ardmore, OK in 1983 when they reunited in early 80s. The album "It's A Jungle was the tour they were on. Chuck and Cory Wells were going to bus after show, and I talked to them a bit and ask for autograph. Cory was carrying plates of food so he couldn't but Chuck signed a flier about the album for me. Both were very nice....Danny Hutton was already on bus so didn't meet him.
"Out In the Country" "Black and White" "Easy to Be Hard" "One-Man Band" "Liar" "An Old Fashioned Love Song" "Celebrate" "One" "Try a Little Tenderness" (J2theW and Mama Told Me) "Play Something Sweet (Brickyard Blues)" "The Show Must Go On" (more)
Joy To The World and Never Been To Spain were both written by Hoyt Axton an amazingly talented songwriter.
Y’all need to check out his song Della And The Dealer….
He also wrote The Pusher, which was done by Stepoenwolf.
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 And Snowblind Friend….
He also wrote No No Song for Ringo Starr and had a big hit of his own with Bony Fingers.
Della and The Dealer and Wild Bull Rider are my two favorite songs done by Hoyt Axton
Hoyt Axton is an all time favorite. His son Matt Axton is a singer and sounds quite a bit like his dad. Hoyt was an amazing singer/songwriter,
"Easy To Be Hard" really highlights his voice and the lyrics are very powerful,
Chuck was my favorite 3 dogger!
Just reading the title gives me a flashback to balsam and sandalwood incense.
One of the best bands of my childhood! Every song seemed different, and all of them great. You could hear them blasting out of the AM radio bolted to the stingray handle bars of my 3-speed bike. "Just an Old Fashioned Love Song" and "The Show Must Go On" are both phenomena, though very, very different. This band had talent to spare. And, what was so unusual about them is that everyone's styles and strengths were showcased. For that reason, there fans were as diverse as their musical catalog.
The lead singer is Chuck Negron who's born in Manhattan whose parents were Puerto Rican( his dad) and his mom was English. There were 2 others in the group that sang lead .Other songs : Eli's Coming, Never Been To Spain, Mother Told Me Not To Come, One( is the loneliest number), Old Fashioned Love song, The Show Must Go On, and many more.👍👍👏💯♥️
I saw 3 Dog Night twice during this period. They were the greatest cover band of all time. Try their versions of Nilsson's "One", Daniel Moore's "Shambala" (although B. W. Stevenson's is the best version), Laura Nyro's "Eli's Comin' ", and "Easy To Be Hard" from the musical "Hair". All big hits, all terrific.
One cannot help but smile when hearing this song. Gets me every time! Love, love, love it!!
Joy to all of us.. we need this s❤sooooo much in 2023. Absolutely iconic song
this song was so big back then.... Still brings a smile to my face. these guys were so next level singers... and it reminds me of the styles back then. stacks and cuff pants were so cool.
