People just feel better after they listen to Three Dog Night ❤️❤️
Same with Creedence, but I'd take CCR over 3 Dog anyway. More poignant songs
YES!!❤
@@guytansbariva2295it's very close between those two bands and you can't go wrong with either one! 🎸🥁🎹🎤
Jay/Amber, you'll love their "An Old Fashioned Love Song" and "Eli's Coming" !!!
edit- I don't see their "Black And White" up as one of your reactions. You've probably heard it, if not it should be next!
Old fashioned love song definitely!!!!
Eli's Coming is great. So is Easy To Be Hard.
Absolutely Eli's Coming is a must!!!
Add Easy to be Hard surely!
Out In The Country!👍✌️
Unfortunately, Cory Wells, the lead singer on this song, passed away about 7 years ago. The other two singers, Chuck Negron and Denny Hutton, are still around and kicking at 80. Please do the live version of Eli's Coming next. Their live TV performances were nothing but fun. And the band behind them is so under appreciated.
That version is unbelievable!
Yeah it's a banger man. But I'm not exactly sure why it's unfortunate. I mean so up? He died. It's not like it's going to be doing anything new anyway at this point. He left behind a legacy that is tremendous and absolutely amazing and I think by celebrating that and getting into it and understanding it the best we can we give him Life Beyond life.
Just in case they see your comment, I figure we can make it easy
ua-cam.com/video/0CuNBengxaQ/v-deo.html
Agreed!
YES! Definitely the LIVE version! :O)
"Eli's Coming" live version is a must. You will hear the fantastic voices of each of them.
I totally love Eli’s Coming, but I gotta admit I’m partial to the studio version. Just sayin. 😂
If they do "Eli's Coming" they should do the original by Laura Nyro as well.
Yes,and the family of man also.
This (ua-cam.com/video/0CuNBengxaQ/v-deo.html) is the one that people want you to react to.
I love 3 dog night. I saw them a few years ago fortunately, before several band members passed away. Two of my favorites have always been ones that are not on the top list but I think they are great:
Sunlight
Easy to be Hard
Chuck Negron sings lead in both of these. Chuck had a heroin addiction which got home booted from the band. Sad because he has a beautiful voice.
As an aside, Danny Hutton from Three Dog Night and Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys were great friends.
That harmony from a band full of lead singers is amazing. "Black and White" from them is a song you all need to hear, check the live version if you can
Agreed
And Black and White has that great kind of message that Amber appreciates.
@@sourisvoleur4854 Yup it sure does. Another great track from TDN!!
A great song to do with your kids.
I like the studio version of B&W better
"Shambhala is believed to be a society where all the inhabitants are enlightened."
Got to remember, HIPPIES in those days. Peace and Love was the Word
3 fantastic lead singers with no egos who trade solos back and forth and then harmonize beautifully. They didn't write their own music but made others' music their own. They were HUGE when I was a little kid (around 1970 - 1973) and had hit after hit. We all sung along whenever they came on the radio and we still do! Timeless music.
Another banger from one of my all time favorite groups. You just can't go wrong with Three Dog Night. They can take your song and do it better, which they constantly did. Love them.
Three Lead Singers, a kickass backup band ( with the incomparable Floyd Sneed on drums ) , and an extremely diverse array of hits -- THREE DOG NIGHT is so UNIQUE in the history of ROCK
This was the very first concert I ever went to three dog night, and they sang this song! There’s a big smile on my face because those memories are so wonderful
TDN has a large catalog of top hits, "One", "Celebrate", "One Man Bad", "Joy to the World", "Liar", "Old Fashioned Love Song", "Family of Man", "Black and White", "Eli's Coming", "Play Something Sweet", "Sure as I'm Sittin' Here", "Out in the Country". Can't go wrong with any of these.
You forgot "The Show Must Go On"
Oh I love all those songs!
Three Dog Night ! A deep rabbit hole of greats. You can't go wrong with any of the suggestions. -
"Out In The Country" - lyrics Before the breathing air is gone. Before the sun is just a bright spot in the night time. Written by Paul Williams who also wrote the Carpenter's hit - "We've only just begun"
I second Out In The Country. Album version.
@@cr16219 I third it! My favorite TDN song!👍✌️
Three Dog Night were always so positive and brought joy to the music in the 60’s and 70’s!! Always on the radio! We can get there again!!🙏✌️
They did Indeed bring "Joy To The World" 😉
This is my favorite song by Three Dog Night and one of my top 10 from the 70's. Absolutely love this song!
It's my favorite song too.
Great road trip song.
Their live performances are just as good as studios...so much energy ❤
They are hilarious on live videos too!
Shambala is the only one I prefer the studio version of. Live performances are so much fun
Yes, Soundstage 1975!
I would have loved to have been there!
There are movies made on the fabled Shambala. The place invisibly hidden from the world, where the pure of heart don't die.
I saw Three Dog Night before the release of their first album. I and my friends never heard of them. They were the warm up act for two top billing bands. To this day I can't remember those two bands, but I can tell you that Three Dog Night KILLED IT that night. Three vocalists, and a big band blew us all away. For a number of years after that night these guys had one hit song after another, but you really had to see them live.
As others have already stated, "Out in the Country" is worthy of a listen.
I’ve asked for this too. My fave from 3DN ❤
Luv that song. Ya picked a goody !!!
My favorite TDN tune!, 1970, what a year for music!👍✌️
3 dog night had 21 straight top 40 hits. One of my favorites is Out in the country. In theyre early years they did the absolute best cover ever of Try a little tenderness. This one is a must!
Live version. Cory Wells has short hair in video. A+
Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A old favorite!!! Three Dog Night was always a favorite group and one of the first I ever bought. Thanks for the memories!!! ❤
Great tune and harmonies 👍 Eli's coming should be next.
Make sure it's a live version
@@pamelaloven8859 . . . or at least the one where they 'pretend' to be live but are clearly not 😁 I love that video ua-cam.com/video/-9y6pXcIl20/v-deo.html, shows them just having fun and laughing at themselves
Oh, yes! "Eli's coming" would be great! It was known to be "my song" in high school...I don't know why. You might like "Easy to be Hard " which is from the musical "Hair". They do have a brilliant live album: "Live at the Hollywood Bowl"!
Then maybe One Is The Lonist Number a different great song from Three Dog Night. Was introduced to them from one of neighbors who was in this group.

My uncle had an 8 track of Three Dog Night back in the 70s. Definitely a band from my childhood. Eli's Coming should be next.
So did I! #Old as dirt! 😂
Such and incredible band, it's hard to recommend songs. They had such great variety! On the mellow side "Out in the Country" or "Pieces of April" are just plain beautiful songs. Somebody recommended "Old Fashioned Love Song" and that's another killer classic.
I will and have been praying for the Bills defender.🙏🙏🙏3 Dog Night is considered as having among the very best harmonies of any group!
Three Dog Night recorded many great feel good hits, "Play Something Sweet (Brick Yard Blues)" "Joy To The World" "The Family of Man", "Out In The Country", "Black and White", "The Show Must Go On", etc., so many good childhood memory songs for me.
This song is so fun! I remember my uncle and I singing this at the top of our lungs while riding in his big Montego car. Great song full of memories 😊
My parents had a yellow Montego when I was young. I wish I still had it.
I saw them in Chicago in the late 70's. They did three separate sets. The first set was their early stuff. The second set was a tribute to groups of the late 50's and early 60's. The third set was songs from their last two albums. It was a fantastic show.
You guys have done a great job exposing the younger generation to the music I grew up on Rob and Amber
It really warms my heart seeing the younger generation enjoying the music I grew up on. The 60's and early 70's will forever be some of the best music ever produced. Some more great Three Dog Night songs are Liar, Eli's Coming, Pieces Of April (beautiful song!), Joy To The World and the list goes on. Love this band!
Growing up listening to these songs was great. Amber, I've watched how you react to our old music You would have been a true HIPPIE. You guys are so fun to be with. Keep going strong.
Shambala is a mythical, mystic sacred realm in Tibetan Buddhism; such a great song among so many by Three Dog Night. Eli’s Coming May be my favorite as far as the music goes, although the message in this one makes it a top one, also.
Shambhala, according to Buddhist tradition, is a mythical kingdom that is said to exist somewhere between the Himalaya Mountains and the Gobi Desert. In Shambhala, all of the citizens have achieved enlightenment, so it is the embodiment of Tibetan Buddhist perfection. This legend inspired the 1933 novel “Lost Horizon,” by English writer James Hilton, who modified the name of the place to "Shangri-La." The novel later became the basis for the 1937 feature film of the same name, directed by Frank Capra.
beautiful movie
Absolutely right, thanks for that...
..thought I was alone!
Amber was grooving her way to Shambala!!!!!! One of my favorite songs by TDN. Love you guys. Glad you are on a musical journey with your subscribers. God bless and Happy New Year !!!!!
Nicely said🙋🏻♀️
What I always loved about Three dog night is that they took turns being lead singer, but they also change styles with each of them. Shambala is one of my favorites, Never Been To Spain is my absolute number one. Eli's Coming, Mama Told Me Not To Come, and Black & White are right up there as well.
I swear, you guys always play my favorites! Love you guys! {{{hugs}}}
One of the best songs! Cory Wells voice is pure love!
The word "Shambala" has a spiritual meaning in the Buddhist religion, and some Tibetan Buddhists believe that it is a mystical land hidden somewhere in the Himalaya mountains.
You two need to do their live performances. It sounds exactly like the studio, more or less.
And they are just fun to watch. 😊
I would have loved to see them react to this live version: ua-cam.com/video/xnyh6i9NvmE/v-deo.html
Except Try A Little Tenderness on Soundstage. Holy bell bottom pants!!
Ive always loved their song “Sure As I’m Sittin Here”.
This song was written by Mr John Hiatt. Another classic remake, or re-take!
I love all their songs especially the ones Cory Wells sings lead on. You should hear his cover of "Try a Little Tenderness".
You definitely made me smile today. I'm 64 and this was on the first LP I ever bought. I was a freshman in high school and I remember sitting next to our stereo listening to this with headphones on while my parents watched Her Haw or Lawrence Well in the same room. Always loved their harmonies. The Song Riding Thumb or Serenade are great also. Thanks again
Three Dog Night "OUT IN THE COUNTRY"... def my favorite!!
On February 28, 1971 my older brother took me to see There Dog Night at Kleinhan's Music Hall in Buffalo, NY. I was 15 years old at the time and it was my first concert. I was blown away by their harmonies. After that I went to every concert i could for the next 20 years and seen all the great bands in their prime. The Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Bob Dylan, CSNY, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Jethro Tull, You name it. What a time to come of age.
You guys would love the live version of this song--they are a very FUN group live.
Hilarious on their live performances!
YES! My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Three Dog Night song! Thank you, Jay and Amber, for reacting to this. "Shambala" is one of those songs that just helps you mellow out and find balance. Hope the two you find peace and balance this year!
So much talent in this group. If you want another upbeat feel good song try "Celebrate" it got that 'stand up and sing' vibe. My personal favorite though, is the melodic masterpiece "Old Fashioned Love Song"
Yay - I suggested this one a while back. It's my favorite of theirs tied with Joy to the World and Celebrate. Check out their live stuff on Soundstage. They're so good live and you can see all their personalities come out - especially Danny Hutton - he is all BIG personality!
A song with almost the same chord progression in the chorus of this 1973 song is B. W. Stephenson's "My Maria," also from 1973. When I was a kid and these songs were big hits on the radio, in my mind one song would merge into the other because of the similar chord progression. Also, Three Dog Night's cover of "Black and White" from 1972 is another really good song with a really good message. Crosby Stills Nash and Young's 1969 "Marrakesh Express" and Cat Stephens's 1971 "Peace Train" also fit with "Shambala"'s message. All these songs were big radio hits at the time.
This is one of those songs that embodies my early '70s childhood. It captures the spirit of that era quite perfectly and brings me right back.
My favorite of Three Dog Night is "Out In the Country"
Shambala is one of those songs that gets stuck in my head every time I hear it 😀 as earworms go, this is a fun one.
Shambala was an amazing feeling every single time it played. Still is!!! Listen to “Mama told not to come”.
Three Dog Night was my dad’s favorite band! Can’t believe he’s been gone almost a year now…🥲! Love your reactions!
This was my favorite song when I was a very little girl in the 70s. ❤
This song is one of my favorite Three Dog Night songs. "Liar" is another. I think you'll enjoy it.
I was born in the 60's and this group is one of my most favorite. I think you'll love "Black & White", such a great message.
This is still a classic ❤ gotta check out “Mama Told Me (Not to Come)” next. Amber definitely loved this one ❤
I am pretty sure they already did that a year or so ago
They said in this video that they've already done Mama
The song's actual lyrics are about the mythical kingdom of Shambhala, which was said to be hidden somewhere within or beyond the peaks of the Himalayas and was mentioned in various ancient texts, including the Kalachakra Tantra and ancient texts of Tibetan Buddhism.[1] The original location was a mystic temple in Peru, specifically, the temple of the White Lodge, according to Alice Bailey's A Treatise on White Magic (1934), cited by Moore.[2]
The lyrics refer to a situation where kindness and cooperation are universal, joy and good fortune abound, and psychological burdens are lifted.
The phrases "in the halls of Shambala" and "on the road to Shambala" tie for number of occurrences in the lyrics. The latter phrase perhaps alludes to the idea of Shambala not as a physical place but as a metaphor for the spiritual path one might follow.[1]
The temple of the white lodge is part of the Great Pyramid and the Emerald Tablets of Thoth. It's the Great White Lodge.
It is a spiritual realm Shambala. It's not a myth.
Three Dog Night just never lets you down. Fantastic band.
Three Dog Night was an amazing band, and this, for me, was one of their best songs, if not THE best. When I die, I want this song played at my service.
Been waiting for you to do this one since you did "Never Been to Spain."
This is another one of my favorite TDN tunes. Unmatched vocal talent.
For anyone who doesn't already know, Shambhala or Shambala is a mythical kingdom in Tibetan Buddhism.
I'm pretty sure their biggest hit was 'Joy To The World' but my favorites are 'Easy To Be Hard' and 'One is the loneliest number '
All people have a double living in Shambala. Every time you improve yourself your double shines more.
When your light shines brightly enough in the Halls of Shambala, you will be sent a teacher.
I love this group and I love you two !!! J, I love how cool and calm you always are and Amber, the way you bob in your seat is heavenly ... you are an Angel 😇!!! You BOTH always make me smile 😊👍👏.
A live performance should definitely be next - Old Fashioned Love Song would be a great choice
There are no bad Three Dog Night songs. This song is fantastic to experience live - same with Eli’s Coming. Raises the hair on the back of the neck and gives you goosebumps.
Cory, Chuck & Danny, the three lead singers are all very underrated.
One of my all time favorite songs! Thank you for choosing this one!!
"OUT IN THE COUNTRY" - 3 DOG NIGHT! YOU'LL NOT REGRET IT! 😁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I so love this group! Their songs are so different from one another. 'Black and White" should be next.
"Easy to be Hard" is one of the most beautiful songs.
Three Dog Night was my 2nd concert. It was 1972 and I was seven. The show was in what is now called Liberty Bowl stadium which is think held about 40,000 at the time. These guys were huge. Great show! We were dancing in the aisles! I'd like to see you guys listen to "Celebrate". It's joyful, uplifting and fun like so many of their songs. Great band!
"Out in The Country" is sooooo good. "Before the breathing air is gone, and the sun is just a bright spot in the nightime... where the rivers like to run. I stand alone and take back something worth remembering..." Just don't get any better lyrics than that!!!
Three Dog Night performed a few covers that were absolutely incredible. Check out their cover of Otis Redding's Try a Little Tenderness (the 1975 live version is unbelievable) and The Band's Chest Fever. Both are must hears! I'm glad you're appreciating Three Dog Night, they were a great band and even greater live!
Fun fact:
This song has a spiritual meaning and is about a traditional Tibetan buddhist kingdom called: shambhala.
Three Dog Night headlined the 1st rock concert I ever saw,
They raised the roof off of Cobo Arena.
Great song! Try Out in the Country by this group.
One of their best songs ever.
Three Dog Night was the very first concert I ever went to. I think it was back in 1970 or 71. We had the best time!! When we were on vacation this past summer, one the young 20-something who was at the front desk of a hotel we stayed at was named Eli. Every time I saw him I had to sing "Eli's Coming" at him. I am not sure if he even know what I was singing! He had an annoyed look on his face. It cracked me up!! "Eli's Coming" should be NEXT!!!
For a rocking 3 Dog Night song, I suggest 'Eli's Coming.' For something a little slower, definitely go with 'Out In The Country.' (Amber will really like that one!)
You still need to do their best song, "Out in the Country"!!!!!!!
My favorite 3DN song. Shambala is a mythical heaven-like place.
My first rock concert, 3 DOG Night, Brownsville station, Grand Funk Railroad. I was 13, at Indianapolis Fairgrounds. The Beatles had played there just 8 years earlier. ❤😊
I saw them in 1974. I was a wee babe of 14. LOL It was in Lubbock, Texas and that concert began my love of concerts and live music. One of their songs that I love is Joy to the World. You need to take a listen. I think you’ll enjoy it.
Tdn is a good time music to just sit down and just day dream ..... "Out in the country "Is a good one to sample
✌😎Awesome group! Great reactions. One of my fav Three Dog Night songs is a nice mellow one. Check out "Out in the Country". Beautiful harmonies. Great vibe.
See them in concert if you get the chance. So much fun, and everyone is friends by the end.
Three Dog Night…”Joy to the World”! Full of positivity and as relevant today as when it was released back in the day. Loved this song as a kid listening to my AM radio!
Great song. Three dog night always delivered .
Yay! 🎉 love this one!
This song for me always was and always will be a 70's summer feel good song. Such great memories!
Three Dog Night definitely played a huge role in my initial appreciation of music. Loved them and this song. Must songs to listen to include Black And White and The Show Must Go On (album version!!!).
Saw them in concert couple of months ago. They were as good or better when I saw them in concert 40+ yrs ago!!
You only saw one member of the original seven member band. What you saw was Danny Hutton using the name of Three Dog Night for financial gain.
But ... there's only one surviving member touring so how could they possibly be better ???
ELI'S COMING
BLACK AND WHITE are two fabulous songs by Three Dog Night. They were one of the last in a small group of hippy bands to wave that flag of good vibrations until disco came and swept up all the airtime on the radio.
But I also have twoore suggestions.
The first by Spirit.
The song is I'VE GOT A LINE ON YOU.
Next is by those wild and crazy guys from Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and it's COVER OF THE ROLLING STONE. Just my contribution to the channel. Hope you enjoy
Another reminder of how lucky I was to be raised during this era of music.
Three Dog Night was my first concert in 1974. Absolutely been in love with them ever since . You should see live videos. They are amazing. RIP Cory Wells. You are never forgotten ❤️
The words of this song had a deep impact on me as a young man. We should all be making our own journeys with the intention of making it to Shambala at some point in life. ✌️
YAY!!! My absolute favorite 3DN SONG!!! So happy you guys got around to it and enjoyed it! Check out "Cupid" by Sam Cooke, "At This Moment" (live version) by Billy Vera & The Beaters, "We Just Disagree" by Dave Mason, "Green Tambourine" by The Lemon Pipers, and "Hazard" by Richard Marx - love you guys - keep smiling!
Ringo song??
“With a Little Help From My friends”
“Goodnight (written by John)”
“Photograph (co-written by Ringo and George….lots of George here!
I love you guys so much! You are both lovely, and I’m sure you will/are raise(ing) beautiful children that this world is in such need of right now!! Peace out! ❤
One is the loniest number, joy to the world, just an old fashioned love song. All are great songs with joy to the world being the most famous probably.
