Super excited for Vanir! But please don't sleep on the campaigns. I know you don't see them as priority, but I would never be able to get into the game without campaigns, they matter.
I'm a huge Might&Magic:Heroes AND Skandinavian mythology fan, so this is like a Dream come true. I feel blessed to live in a time where I can witness Songs of Conquest's development. Thank you Lavapotion!
This game is such a clear labor of love... and seven years of sweat & blood. XD. It's not up on GOG yet, so I can't wishlist it, but Lavapotion has been holding down GOG users with updates right alongside Steam (unlike some devs,) so I'm not worried about it.
The Rise Eternal DLC hasn't been canceled, and wasn't even technically delayed, it's been de-prioritized due to player feedback. Also, I think it's a smart move, breaking up the faction releases; releasing Roots and Vanir separately will give Lavapotion the time to focus on fixing any faction/troop/essence/etc imbalances when Vanir comes out.

This game is a state of the art strategy jewel. I hope it keeps getting the love it deserves from the devs and the community alike because the potential is endless. Things I'd love to see in the future: -underground maps and dungeons with new mechanics maybe. -new terrain types, the art style is absolutely perfect to create fantastic settings like deserts with mineral formations shining in beautiful contrast colors and things like that. -the ability to decrease a bit the ui scale -a ton of campaign missions. -more complexity in the battle mechanics. But regardless of it all, thank you very much for this amazing game!.
I'm also excited about all those new structures on the map. It'll be cool to get new types of them. For example, neutral building that can train your troops to second level

Campaigns fuel interest in factions, you start to sympathize with them, it adds to their charm and motivation to play for them. Therefore, campaigns are important to me, but I don't see any point in playing on maps, so, unfortunately, I will have to postpone the purchase of dlc until the campaigns appear
In my opinion it's better for the players to get the new factions faster even without their campaigns. Songs of Conquest is in dire need of new factions.
I wonder what game mechanics the Vanir will have. Since the first reveal of the troll creature, I've been speculating what kind of faction it will be. I envisioned some sort of stone-throwing creature that can deal damge in a circle once per battle. The stone could hit a Unit directly or if it hits the ground, serve as an destroyable obstacle.
I'm starting to wonder, what factions will there be next? Personally, I think it will be something like "Inferno" from Heroes 3. I even came up with a short story: Part of the nobility from the Barony of Lot decided to use other methods to return the empire to its former glory, and so they began to study and seek forbidden knowledge even by the standards of their barony, as a result they turned into unknown creatures that began to call themselves "Children of Hell" (Yes, I have nothing to do.)
There is currently no plan for a Vanir campaign, but we haven't closed the door for future updates. It depends a lot on how well the new factions are received by the players, etc.

i bought this game yesterday after watching seths youtube video on it and i LOVE it. my only worry is that i dont know how to play right and ill never finish campaign. that or i do finish, try online, and realize im mentally backwards and dont know how to play still.
There's no way of "playing right": you can buff your army, you can divide it in small groups to generate essence and you can do anything in between. It'll only take some time to learn all of the units and then you can use your initiative to your advantage

It looks great, really, but I will not be buying the DLCs anymore. Campaigns are "the" game for me, I personally do not care about random maps or multiplayer so I would not be able to use this new content in any way I would enjoy.
Vanir being paid will divert new players. That's my opinion, maybe it's wrong, but the base game will have less content compared to base + dlc, and will thus be harder to get into. Campaigns, heroes and stuff being paid is reasonable, but the game being converted to subscription based, having to buy content each year is sad.
you guys really need to stop splitting hairs and get new music and factions in and flesh out this game because two campaigns for a heroes player is like a side dish.
I don't like factions in this game. I saw all of that a hundred times. Maybe only more or less interesting faction in game is swamp. But the bird-unit is ugly and out of place. You lack imagination. Or artistic expression at least.
