  • After 4 years of brutal, rugged, insane, raw power of the Beast, I've traded it in for a middleweight all-rounder. In this video I give you the reasons why I did this and if I will suffer from power withdraws, as the XR has almost 40% less power.
    Thank you Motorsport Burgdorf for making me "an offer you can't refuse" and yes he actually said that to me...and he was right as you can see. Please check them out if you live in the Paderborn, Germany area. Motorsport Burgdorf: www.motorsportburgdorf.de/

    Cameo: by Cam, my son (a.k.a. "big guy"), that was an unexpected joy for him to come outside while I was shooting the video, he gives me so much joy that I just wanted to share that joy with you guys, so I kept him in the video.

The prophet Muhammad believed for most of the time that he was writing the Quran that it was the Devil Himself that was giving him the words to write down. That was in fact correct. I am young brave stupid and inmature but thankful with life because mu first bike was a DualPurpose generic chinese crap Alessia Risky 200cc but as soon I learned to ryde I notice my crapy bike was better than naked, sport, custom, cafe racers by the simply reazon 21" 18" and the 30cm from skidplate to the floor (I am shorty 1.70mts) so as a daily bike it performs very well on the stops and bumps where my fellow ryders stop or low speed I can mantain my own also in rain days everything was easy and the plus I became in a tremendous pilot by the simple reazon the bike came with segment bite wheels like enduro or motocross bikes so with that thiny surface of contact with the concrete and the oiled floors of Mexico City I became a very sharped ryder well 4 years have past since that first ride and right now I know the best bike ever made is a BMW but no the one you are thinking GS is a joke(In that case better a Multistrada or Adventure R) the real deal to me is the RT1250 and may you say why? There's no off road capacity is a heavy bike dosen't fit in urban traffic well as Bruce have sayed *our needs and interests change as we get older* and that is the point yes I only have 25 years old but already have understand that comfort safty and long range capacity are the esence of ryde a bike and to be honest even when my country haven't such great autobhans or nice streets to be honest the BMW can with all so right know in my mind is to have a brand new generic chinese dual purpose bike as a commuter and have the RT12T0 as a weekend and long trips bike or even better as only one bike I was on BMW dealership yesterday and ryde the F900R K1600 Grand America and RT1250 and I only can say wow RT is the perfect balance between HP, Torque, Weight and Range also a lot of luggage(yes is better than Grand America because is 85kg lighter have 4 cylinders less, 140km more of range and cost 35%less) so I love dual purpose but GT is the real deal next week I'll head to dealership to pick up my own RT1250 wirh all the aftermarket personalitation gadgets and accesories BMW offer

    there is nothing wrong changing to a more settled down bike. I mean there will be times you run wild and you longing for more power and something challenging, but in the end finding the middle road to all of that is the goal you got to aim for. it really seems that you hit the mark right there and iam very happy for you - stay safe on your new bike.

    Nice video. I've been thinking of upgrading my MT-07 to a Tracer 900 but now with this bike out, it's definitely tempting me. Tracer 900 has quite a few downsides I've noted such as small bags, small load capacity, small display, passenger pegs too close to rider pegs... And now the F900XR seems to have all these done right, although with a bit higher price tag.

    • @chrishart8548

      The tracer 900 may feel like it has less torque than the -07 remember the twin has bigger pistons despite the capacity increase. There will be more torque once up in the higher revs the -09 is a very different engine vs the -07

      Hi Paul,
      Two different bikes with two totally different personalities. The 1000 is a sport bike (from S1000RR) turned into a sport/touring bike and it feels like it, like a dog on leash always pulling, barking, running...etc. The 900 is just the opposite of that, it was designed from the start to be a sport/tour 50/50, the 1000 is more like 80/20 with the 80 being serious sport...and the motor, 160hp, just does not work in a sport/tour bike (imho) ...and it's buzzy at certain RPM's. Don't get me wrong about the motor, I love it in the S1000RR and S1000R, two great bikes! The 900 is smooth all the way through the rev range, well it gets buzzy at the top end but any bike will for that matter. But if you want a sport/tour with a heavy lean towards sport, get the 1000XR, if not then get the 900XR.
      So I took my own advice and got the 900XR 😁.
      If I were you, take them both out and see what personality fits you, that is the best thing to do. 👍
      Ride safe,
      Scott

    Congratulations on the new Bike! Superb review and content as always - easily the most enjoyable and informative on the net. Feels like having a good friend having a chat and offering comments about their perceptions. Very interested how you get on with it in the future, as this bike is one of three I'm considering as a returning rider; the others being the GS/GSA or the RT.
    The GS/GSA are very tall given their off road suspension/ride height compromises; but unpaved roads are all I would do as regards 'off road" which seems a waste of their abilities and at a price of weight and bulk, and the RT lacks a little versatility and would be very expensive to inadvertently drop with all the plastic fairing parts.
    As an all rounder, and with the latest tech, the F900XR looks to be a superb choice. And if it could handle the odd unexpected/unplanned unpaved road on a longer trip, it might just be the right bike for me.
    Thanks again for your superb content and presentation - greatly appreciated and enjoyed!

      Thank you Dan,
      It's not from a cold start, both bikes were brand new, no miles on them. It took a few minutes for it to start working say a mile or two, then it took a few more for it to work properly. And both bikes did this to me. But then those are the only two Triumph's I've taken out with 0 miles on them. All the others had been ridden before me.
      Ride safe,
      Scott

    If you could get them at the same price, what would you have chosen between this one and the 1250 RS?

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  4 роки тому +1

      This.
      BUT, IF the RS was perfect, the weight would still really kill it for me. For example after spending 4 days and over 1200km's on it in one weekend, which I did in the 1000km review video, the weight started to wear on me on day 3 and by day 4, I was tired of the weight and decided that for a daily rider, this bike was not for me. I mean I'm not a big guy but I'm not small either, I'd say I'm about medium build and height, so if that is my thought after 4 days what's it like for a guy a little smaller than me? And I'm 84kg.

      Hi David,
      Yes, I like the 900R but it's a naked bike and right now I need a bike that I can ride on the highway and carry stuff to reviews and a bike that is light and easy to handle every day. Basically an everyday work bike. Hence a middleweight sport/tour and this was the best one that fit me. :)

    Congratulations on your new bike, looks really nice! Perhaps the ultimate rational bike: all the power, quality, practicality, features, handling, wind protection, ... that one could need (or claim to need). And a (very) good price. However while I 100% see why you'd get this over a Tracer 900 (which has always seemed like an exercise in 'upgrading' the MT-09 to a tourer but with flaws), I wonder if you considered the Multistrada 950S? Like for like it is around 3.000 EUR dearer, but to me that seems worth it. It is a good sum of (additional) money though (of course)...

    Well done Scott!!! Currently here in Australia I am waiting for this model to arrive. Just yesterday one of my BM dealers actually rang me to ask if I want one, but as I told him I haven't seen it in the flesh, sat on it or ridden it. So I'm a little hesitant. Then when I see you have now bought one I'm like a kid in a lolly shop!!!😍😂 I have a 2015 S1000R & yes like you I am after more of the comfort/touring style now. The weight is spot on & the bike itself is really what I am after. I notice a Skoda Yeti(?) in your drive? I have the Skoda Superb Sportline wagon 206kw. I love it!!! Anyway I've digressed. I'm 5'10" with an inseam of 32" and I have ordered the high seat but don't have it yet. So I don't think you'll like this bike even with the high seat. The high seat is only 20mm higher than the normal seat. So given that, I doubt you'll be comfortable on this. But sit on one and see if you can handle it. Or try the 850GS that is a lot higher.

    The f900R reminds me a little bit of the Shiver 900....as you've ridden both. How would you compare them?

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  4 роки тому +1

      BMW is a more refined and fit and finish is better and the TFT and connectivity is great and non-existent on the Shiver.
      But Shiver has a V-Twin! I love the that and the sound is awesome for 900cc.
      Motor, sound & looks = Shiver
      Refinement, Quality, TFT, everyday rider = 900R
      It just depends on what you are looking for in a bike. Choose with your heart, not your head and that will be a decision you will never regret.

The 3rd gen SDR got a new frame but the GT still has the old frame from 6 years ago...hmm...KTM is resting on their laurels...so I didn't want to spend 5k more for just more power and for less tech and less quality/fit & finish.
