Your message is 2 weeks old?😂 get it together tubi!
I purchased the tomtoc handheld carry bag and it’s awesome!
The lighter weight was a feature I didn’t think would matter much but it always surprises me when I pick up the OLED for some reason.
So much this. I had the old one, so when I first picked it up, I thought Valve forgot to include the internal battery.
Oled truly spoils you from anything else.
And HDR 🤯in games that support it like bg3
I’ll be fine then as I haven’t got an oled one and they aren’t sold in my country .
Nah, I switched from the OLED back to the Legion Go after about 3days. The performance is just way too poor. And maxing out at 800p is cute for a small screen. But 1600p on a LARGER screen and still better frame times, is just far better than having an OLED screen with less brightness.
@@ATLsF1N3ST91 Lol I'm talking about Oled screens overall this has nothing to do with the deck's performance.
@charaznable8072 what? I know it has nothing to do with the performance. The low fan speeds and RAM is why it has poor performance....
The whole steam deck is such power move. It's like Valve's saying: "Sony has ps, microsoft has xbox, nintendo has switch, Valve has pc." With a device that even allows using launchers like epic or portal gaming for ps/xbox, it's still such a confident, big balls power move.
Love my Oled. As a dad it’s super hard to find time to play. The switch oled and steam deck oled saved gaming for me.
I was always on the fence about one. Then my wife and my daughter bought me the oled 512gb for Christmas and man I had that moment were I was just like wow how can this thing do this. Being able to share my account on steam is awesome.
Awesome family , you’re truly blessed!
Thank you I always try to stay grateful and humble. And I teach my kids family first always.
My wife also bought me one and I’m super impressed
More awesome than the oled 512 is having a wife and daughter that respect your love of steamdeck gaming.
Yeah I feel like that's how we should be. I don't always understand everyone's hobby but if it's healthy and makes them happy I will support and respect it.
The battery life is the biggest upgrade for me. It’s doubled my Baldur’s Gate 3 playtime to two and a half hours. Shout out to the longer charging cable too - makes couch playing so much easier.
Yes, from two to two and a half, not really a worth upgrade if you have the og steamdeck
wow , only 2,5h ? I get 2h of BG3 on my OG steam deck.

My sd came today! No regrets!!! Im really loving it. I sold my switch oled for this. One of the best decisions this year. My holidays are being well spent now, with family and with my sd 😊
I got the 1TB OLED after using the LCD since release day (so ~1.5 years!) and it was a great decision - it is definitely an upgrade, love the etched glass screen, and the ability to use the internal case only is awesome.
is the bluriness introduced by the anti-glare screen noticable?
@@Aycheffeit actually is not! I had the original etched and now the OLED one. It somehow looks super clean and crisp with the inky blacks and higher contrast. I forget it’s etched whereas the original I couldn’t stop noticing it etched. If that makes sense… lol
Definitely not worth. But if u got the money to spend and u like the deck then why not!
@@TheCarnivaI value is subjective of course - vast majority of my gaming last two years was on Steam Deck, so for me it was "definitely YES worth" ... from your comment, I wonder more why you are watching and commenting on a video for a device you don't like?
@@Aycheffe No - I had standard LCD and it definitely had a lot of reflections depending on lighting. I find the OLED crisper and more vibrant and lacking the reflections.
I hope they do translucent limited runs in other colors in the future. Steam nailed it. Happy holidays
Honestly it shouldn't be limited runs. They should just sell the Deck in multiple colors like Nintendo did with the Gameboy back in the day. It may make it harder to get a specific color Deck, but having that option without having to worry you won't get one because they're limited is nice.
@@husky3gagreed completely. I'm so sick of limited run crap. Just put the different colored shells out for everyone.
Bought both at launch, excessively happy with both purchases so much so that I got some family members some Steam Decks and hooked them up with some games. I love seeing them pestering me, asking me to join their multiplayer session. I get to enjoy LAN parties again and spending time gaming with family, Linux powered handheld PCs are the best.
Damn you rich rich lol
Big money can you buy me one 🥲😂
Steam should start mass production and distributions. There is a massive demand of Steam deck outside of US too.
I got tired of waiting - after OLED launched and grey imported one to my region.
Over paid yes :( such a fail by valve
@@AbnormalObs Same here. There is no official shipment for Steam Deck in my country.
@@ArcadeArea I was really hopeful after the KOMODO launch that it would be an incremental global rollout. I'll be really disappointed if my region gets official distribution in the next few months but I did my research on the distributor so it's as good as gets :)
*I just changed my handle in case you noticed!*
Glad to say, I'm really loving my Steam Deck OLED Limited Edition. The Wi-Fi upgrade was Huge and the anti glare seems to help with where I usually game (sort of outside but in a vehicle). Battery improvement is noticeable too. Have mine set to 45fps lock at 90hz. I was impressed by how rugged the LCD deck was, dropped onto the metal floor of my work truck a few times out of the case. The quick velcro flap on the new case is great for this! I am going to be adding a screen protector soon.
Bro how do you drop your device that often to the floor? I get how someone can accidentally drop their mobile phone, but bigger devices like sd or an iPad for instance should really be treated more careful
Bro oled spoils the crap out of everyone. My iPhone pro is oled, my 55 inch lg tv is oled, my switch is oled and last night I ordered the steam deck oled. There’s no going back. Game on peeps. I’m so happy to be alive in these current times.
One small but significant option, get a rubberized back and grip shell that has a wrist lanyard mount. It takes absolutely nothing away traveling or docking, and if you drop it somehow you've made a conscious decision to fail at life.
The OLED screen on the switch makes a huge difference in can only imagine having that upgrade on my og deck lol. I hope they continue using OLED screens moving forward.
I must be one of the lucky ones that never had major issues with the deck. Mine came in around august-sept of 2022 I think, and I have used it a whole lot. I baby my handhelds a lot, but I used to just toss the deck on the nightstand or the desk or hell, just on top of a pile of clothes on a chair and just not care. It's pristine. I don't use it a ton since I've got the PC setup I've always wanted, but man, it almost feels like you're bashing the LCD a bit much. I recently got a switch oled to replace my day 1 since it was starting to show its age real bad, and unless my deck starts doing the same, I'm happy to wait for deck2. It's cool that valve did an actual refresh unlike nintendo's lazy ass rerelease with just a new screen, and that gives me a lot of hope for the future of the deck. That said, I can't justify dishing out yet another $700ish for what is essentially the same thing. I'm glad others have found it to be worth the purchase though. It's an exciting time to be a handheld fan. If 10 year old me was here today seeing all these options on the market, he'd faint. Looking forward to awesome new tech down the line
I don't have a Steam Deck, but once Valve decides to make a Steam Deck 2, I'm getting it. Having played with my brother's Steam Deck, I see its value and quality as an actual gaming PC on the cheap. The second generation will likely give us 1080p60 and at that point, I'll never buy/build another gaming pc again.
Getting the OLED 1TB Steam Deck next week! I can’t wait!
Really loving this device. Ordered for the wife for xmas... aaaand I also benefit from it. Controls are good, screen is amazing, performance is good, KDE is great, so is the big picture mode. The desktop mode really works too, you could easily use this device as your daily driver main PC.
I had my lcd deck on the center console in my work truck and took a sharp turn. It literally bounced around the cabin and the footwell. But all I had to do was snapp the shell back together on one corner and it was good as new.
The Deck is built very well. The Deck has an aluminum mid-frame and only a 2-piece shell. The glass on the display is also super thick. It's not a fragile device by any means. My son and my wife have knocked my Deck onto the floor probably 10 times or more and there's barely a scratch on it.
I have the original 512 model. I gotta say I’m pretty upset they told us all there won’t be a new one for a while. I guess I’ll keep this until a new one arrives.
Dude I dropped my Steam Deck LCD from around waist level and I heard a loud THWACK! I only had it for a week and my heart was in my throat as I picked it up, expecting for something to be broken but surprisingly, everything was intact and working. Not even as much as a dent or scratch! Keep in mind that I haven't even tried opening this thing before dropping it, so that might explain how tight everything is on the unit.
I saw somewhere Valve advising people not to open the Deck because it will "loosen" the natural tightness of the unit and dropping it might cause it to break easily.
It's good to see Max Payne 1 & 2 in your Library! I played through both of those on my Deck (and also made a controller config with a weapon wheel that works with the default key bindings). I love playing older games on this thing.
How good is max payne?
@@lilstewy5091 It's a great series. The first 2 are definitely a product of their time, so the gameplay is fairly simple and the AI pretty much encourages save scumming. But the story is great, and the voice work too. The bullet time mechanics were kind of revolutionary at the time. And the noir comic book style narration between levels is cool.
@@BlakeRosss
I’ll check them out just bought steam deck and I’m looking for games to play, just finished the evil within 1 -2
@@lilstewy5091 Maybe just nostalgia for me but they're my top 10 games. Short and to the point, I've memorized both games after playing them hundreds of times. Never gets old. One thing I do recommend is its easy to get stuck and its hard to solve the puzzles, because they don't make it obvious so just look up what to do. At least it was hard to solve when I first played 20 years ago... lol.
Wish i could afford to upgrade to the oled. I give valve the most credit for how they went about the release of the steam deck. They at least tried to discourage scalping. After the nightmare of trying to aquire a PS5, I very much appreciated that.
Just discovered your channel. Absolutely love that you're a huge fan of Halloween.
Getting mine in march can’t wait ❤
"Once we got hold of this thing"
[ hangry aussie sounds ]
I'm still rocking the LCD not enough of an upgrade for the OLED to justify an upgrade, But the screen is beautiful on the OLED for sure, Now if this one breaks then the OLED wil replace it for sure.
I abandoned console gaming WHOLESALE for the steam ecosystem. Not only am I full on with the deck, but I'm hoping what I heard is true and the steam deck is a test for not only the console like experience and to boost Linux, but also for their next VR headset, to directly compete with the meta quest line of VR.
Good thing i don't play this thing handheld that often. Mine sits docked as a DDR arcade simulator, so it's my workout equipment! Can't wait for the steam deck 2.
Very helpful buying guide. Thanks!
iv played this way more then i did with the last deck. im loving it
It's come to my attention, you have a striking resemblance to the villain in Mega Mind, Tighten. Great review btw.
My habits have changed too. I play my 1tb Oled Steam Deck even more than I played my old 512gb LCD deck which was a lot.
The steam deck oled is amazing . It’s definitely here to stay . This could have been something Xbox could have done but didn’t
My 2024 resolution is to spend more time PC gaming (I was (and still mostly am) far more of a console gamer up until now). I’m heavily considering getting a Steam Deck, as it looks like a good in-between of console to PC.
I ordered a 1tb steam deck about a month ago, does this mean I got all these upgrades even though it’s not the limited edition version?
Still have not bought one but I will soon hoping in like 2 weeks
How do you install mods on the deck? Like just a beginner description? I know nothin lol, is it easy to do?
cept the lack of windows drivers that were promised months ago at this point. you can use a lenovo wifi driver at least
512gb oled with the glossy screen better than the limited just upgrade the ssd. Glossy>matte on any screen
honestly mine kept turning on for no reason. was waking up in the case so I sold it. sticking with my lcd steam deck
That red steam deck looks beautiful
It's orange.
If you've got that limited edition or the 1TB model you already have a smaller case.
Never used a screen protector on anything and never had a scratch, don't think they are needed.
And in Australia and New Zealand the only way you can get one is by highly marked up parallel import via a third party.
Mine arrives in 4 days 😈
my gf got me the limited edition for Christmas... guess im buying a ring now 😂
You have to!
I put a screen protector on my Deck from day one I wasn’t risking it 😂😂
Steam Deck OLED & Quest 3 ;) Pretty cool pair confirmed.
im going to hold out for a steam deck, im still getting alot of use from my nintendo switch
I can attest to the screen on the OG model scratching easily. My 64GB model scratched right down the middle the first week I had it before I got a screen protector on. I honestly don't know what caused it because I always babied the hell out of it.
I got OLED few weeks ago, love it.. although I just bought RE4 for XB Series X instead… RE4 can only hit steady 35-44fps on SD, so instead I’ll remote play from XB to SD… but I will say all other RE games run 55-70fps on Deck! Highly recommend.
Its the best! I don't play my consoles or computer anymore, kinda makes me feel guilty for neglecting them. Lol
Its the damn frame around the screen I cant handle. Im waiting for them to completely get rid of it, then Ill buy that one.
Where is the "new" red Steam Deck in the miniature?
Which I actually clicked for...
Some games play ok but most good ones will crash.. my oled was a brick out the box would not charge or turn on had to do a battery reboot to get it working
I’m very impressed with the OLED. Shit, I was impressed with the original.
i want that limited edition SD, but not available in my country :(
I'm so scared I'm going to drop my Steam Deck Oled, It always goes in the case.
5:06 Well steam deck oled 1tb does have the same, out of the box, removable one from bigger ordinary one.
All I need is official Dual Boot - I really have a huge library of games in other launchers that could be perfect for a handheld.
My OLED LE weighs 620g compared to 640g written on the specs sheet so there’s one more thing they undersold on the website
I’m not much a PC gamer vs consoles, but still considering a SteamDeck OLED mainly because I’ve been a bit off and on about getting Mega Man X Dive OffLine. I’m just skeptical with the general controls when I 1st played it on Android and hoping I don’t have a hassle with the deck whether I play handheld or maybe if I get the dock and use an XBox controller.
Regardless, this will be a huge 1st for me with SteamOS itself.
The steam deck itself is a FAR better controller than an xbox controller.
@@Wylie288 I’m not really ?ing it. As I said/mentioned XBox controller would be for if/when I’m docking in big picture mode, though. I’m not really too sure what all I’d play vs the the 1 game I mentioned. Its touch controls because it’s more or less a mobile game (Android/iOS) but based on a scrolling platformer are just kind of awkward.
Great video. You drop electronics like a complete bungler. For the love of god, show your kit some love. Do you wear a human hard case when you travel 😂
Those eyes of yours are telling more and more stories😅, keep up the good work though nonetheless, we certainly appreciate your work.
Off topic but wtf is that Kratos look, it's so cursed
Had the Asus one and Oled Steamdeck, after 3 Weeks i gave the Oled back.
Same here, but after a week
Will a lot of unsupported games eventually work
nice video i will go and get it now
Will the tomtoc carrying bag hold two controllers? (I have two 8Bitdo Pro 2's)
i just got my steam deck oled and the only gripe i have is the transferring of files is weird
I miss the quiet keys on my lcd model
HI I just got my new Steam Deck Oled 512gb, a Couple of differences that i Noticed compared to the LCD 512gb Deck, The Oled Outer Case is slightly smaller, there is no pull tab inside the case which helped lifted the deck out of the case, and the 512gb Oled Deck Steam no longer provide a cleaning cloth like they did with the LCD 512Gb Deck 👍
Oled is still missing some windows drivers
i want a steam deck phone then i would only need one device. make it happen valve
Snapdragon gen 2 is whats possible rn

I don't know. I've never dropped any device more than this one. Dumb!

Oh look the next great shiny thing is amazing til it gets trashed when the next new shiny thing comes out really? My lcd steam deck is still as robust and amazing as the day I bought it, lol!
Please atleast mention the issues with the wifi. Many including myself cannot connect to Wi-Fi. Even arter factory reset. And yes I done all thats been said about ”fixing” minus disabling specific Hz. Sucks so bad hoppfull for a patch since its ridicolus.
I changed from LE to the 512gb because Ive have the orginal etched and saw my friends glossy oled and changed my order
I ended up going for the legion go. Wanted a bigger screen with the power.
Sucks to be you
Same, got all of my emulationstation emulators setup and running, and man, do the games look crystal clear and sharp. I do want a SDeck at some point though.
@@MrNickpeck36 im waiting to see if they end up releasing a steam deck 2. If so might end up with it depending on the specs.

Nice video. I wish I could see myself using the Deck, I would rather game on my PC. On the go gaming isn't something in my life. If I go somewhere, I need to be there in the moment and not gaming on a handheld.
wish they would make some budget PCs that are controller ready. I don't want another portable console just something I can play some PC only games with an xbox controller. (7daystodie with/without mods)
You should do a video on games that run better via proton on steam deck than natively on windows.
My go to example is [Prototype] by Radical. Game doesnt even launch into the first mission on windows without crashing!
i love the steam deck for the fact it puts more development into linux gaming which is the future ...windows is just bloated ...but valve seriously needed to have a trade in program cause valve knew they was releasing a much better product with the steam deck OLED specifically the smaller screen bezel, better buttons, better battery like come on valve and no trade in ..and tried to down play this thing is like a steam deck 1.5 ...so all in good device for linux gaming but scummy move on valve knowing they would be release a better version right around the corner.
Maybe dual fans?
Have they fixed the oled screen PWM?
Has anyone used the Cnc alloy backplate that sells on Amazon for $AU200+.
