I past year I test rode an Indian Chieftain, Triumph Commander and a Harley Fat Boy. All the bikes had their merits although the first two lacked a bit of personality. Then I tried a Moto Guzzi Eldorado. ( same engine as Flying Fortress) 10 seconds after turning the ignition I had a wall to wall smile. After the 240 miles I felt it would be pointless to consider the alternatives. More power, better handling, better braking and it takes a lot to impress London ( UK) Cab drivers but 3 wound their windows down to compliment the bike in one hour. This bike is the same deal with different body work. Go and ride one. If your'e a dyed in the wool Harley Guy. Sorry but that's your problem. Enjoy!

I did have a Road King for the day a few years ago and my first response was..is this a joke ? Having said that my daily ride at the time was a Honda Valkyrie and any Harley was going to seem bad after coming off that superb bike.
Yes, but the closest equivalents that HD sells are the Road Glide and Street Glide that list for $21,299 and $20,999 respectively. I'd personally opt for the Guzzi. It's a refreshing design in a sea of HDs.

I like this bike!! Its Bad Ass with all the carbon mixed with the matte black paint, It actually sits nice and high and doesnt scrape as much as most other bikes! it has an Awsome, different look, Sporty with the red valve covers and matching Brembo sport brakes! Real Carbon fiber covers on the wheels.... which actually almost looks like the Whole wheel is Carbon fiber!! And REAL Carbon Fiber all over the bike!! All you need to get is some Nice black pipes on this baby, so that way the VTwin can breathe and let you hear its nice ass Rumble!!!! Lol

Moto Guzzi motorcycles are not in the same league as Royals or Triumphs, think more like Lamborghini or Ferrari...they much of the same manufactures as them...
70+% of Harley riders are snobs who look down their nose at bikes that are often their superior in every way. A full size H.D. is about 200 lbs. too heavy and has the rev capability of the old flathead Ford IMO. After you spend 5 to 10 K more than you would for any other cruiser then you can tap into that great Harley aftermarket to the tune of another 4 to 6K to get the bikes power up somewhere near where you want it. I've never heard a more true statement than "There is no substitute for cubic inches" as it applies to H.D. as that truly seems to be the only effective route to unleashing the power in a Harley.
I don't find modern Guzzi's lacking in power. Not even the 1100's. The Griso 1400 is 4 valve pent roof and i've watched more than one seasoned rider go damn near hysterical during their video road test. The Smoaks Vlog and one of the British blokes, maybe the Rabid Hedgehog or someone similar. Both went ape shit bonkers over the Griso's power and sheer smiles per gallon.
I’d love to try one of these out but am concerned about leg room. I’m 6’3’’ and it looks like my knees would be against the heads. Any tall riders out there tried one?
Excellent nowdays with much better electrics than in the past. Engine life is uncanny and never have had anything come loose over the course of owning 2 of these bikes. A co workers 1980 T3 with 180,000 miles without a teardown made me a believer. My 76 1000 i convert shows almost no wear at 55,000 miles so far.
I'm not too familiar with MG's...where do they sit with dependability/durability amongst other bikes??? They look great, but no bike looks great on the side of the road or on a flatbed...right?

Nice video. The front fairing, although it may be effective, it seems a bit "too much" for my taste, even by the standards of American cruisers. Otherwise, the design of the bike looks simply stunning!
It's got over a 100 hp, weighs about the same as a 600 supersport. super sport suspension and brakes. not sure what it's missing other than fairings. lol
Yeah it's probably just different people's idea of what a sports bike is. Most large engine sports bikes (1000cc) have nearly 200 hp and weighs 200kg wet. The griso has 108hp and weighs 240kg wet. I personally would like to see Guzzi get it's shit together again and get back to their racing heritage and produce a decent modern sportsbike but as I said we shouldn't hold our breath!
All useless points. 1. Storage is a matter of how you are going to use it. For 99% of the owners it's fine. 2. There is a large M-G aftermarket following, it's just mostly online since the bike is European. 3.Modern M-G's are very reliable. Personally I've owned 2 and never had an issue. 4. Performance is definitely better on the M-G. Handling/Braking/Acceleration etc 5. Who cares about dealer support if it's only specialized during a once a year rally.

Interesting. This bike was designed by Miguel Galuzzi in the California Design studios of the Piaggio group. It was, I believed designed with the American market and therefore its tastes in mind - that's why it was released at Sturgis and called the "Flying Fortress" to have greater appeal! Did Moto Guzzi get it wrong? Are the majority of Americans now actually not liking this bike? Could it be perhaps the "brainwashing" due to decades of, some would say mediocre offerings from HD? (FYI, I understand HD needs a prolific dealer network because they were/are such unreliable bikes!).
Made for looks only. Lousy ergonomics might not be the answer for me... Well maybe they are designed to people who ride only short distances - but basically Guzzi is (my opinion) a travelling machine... I looked at one at dealer and it's just too low to have a good riding position, at least if you are +180cm tall... And the weight, 341 kgs, oh no no! The old Le Mans 1000 was 215 kgs dry and had about 70hp at rear wheel? And the year was 1985!
My two Guzzis fit me fine at 6'2. I rode tens of thousands of miles in good comfort, much more comfort than when I rode my friends rattling slow motion tractor Harley

A 76 1000 i convert and an 03 Cali Stone and the barrels have never been an issue for me. Riding solo i just slide back a couple of inches on the seat but if you are just looking for reasons to hate the bike without even trying it then by all means, don't buy one. It's more fun riding something unique and dead reliable and not seeing another every 5 minutes. I find the exclusivity of the brand to be among my top 5 reasons for continuing to be a devoted owner of the brand.

Someone who wants to ride their bike a lot more than they care to work on it. I would jump on that Flying Fortress or my '03 Cali Stone and set off on a ride from coast to coast across America without hesitation or fear of any parts falling off along the way.
Very cool looking bike and color scheme! That being said, there's no freaking way that I would ever have my knee caps that close to the hot heads of the motor. VERY poor design when it comes to air flow. Good luck riding that thing during the heat of summer. Your legs would be toast!
By all means buy a Harley, buy into the Harley culture and then spend another $4 to 5 thousand in an attempt to get it to match the MGX-21's performance and see yourself on the same thing everyone else rides. Overweight, overpriced and underperforming. Then you can deal with the various issues like primary chain tensioner, block castings less than flat where the barrels seat. etc. I like Harley's. They truly are the hot rod of american bikes but if i ever own one i'm getting a 50's era or a hard tail frame and an S&S engine and building my own drag style hard tail. Most new Harley's are just not attractive to me and carry too much weight. As long as i can hang leather bags on a hard tail springer forked drag style Harley you can keep the stockers. All the H.D. models are just a different combination of bolt on parts anyway that aside from the baggers all look pretty overweight and similar. Plus in a Harley 21K is pretty much the starting point. With the MGX-21 you likely won't pay 21K anyway. Just find a dealer near the end of the model year that's had a bike you want on the floor a few months and start dickering.
I am not a lover of baggers but would not hesitate to own one of these. Solid looking bike no doubt.

As much as I love Moto Guzzi's this is the last one I would actually buy. The 1400 California Tourer is the same bike and actually a better rider.

You would never see a Donald supporter on one, they dont understand what they are looking at. You can go back to the farm tractors boys, let the men with better taste in motorcycles ride the Moto Guzzis.
Someone who wants to ride their bike a lot more than they care to work on it. I would jump on that Flying Fortress or my '03 Cali Stone and set off on a ride from coast to coast across America without hesitation or fear of any parts falling off along the way.

Very cool looking bike and color scheme! That being said, there's no freaking way that I would ever have my knee caps that close to the hot heads of the motor. VERY poor design when it comes to air flow. Good luck riding that thing during the heat of summer. Your legs would be toast!
I have owned two Guzzis and never had a problem with too much heat on my knees, tho in the fall, the heat did keep my legs warm.
LOL Air cooled and out in the breeze, The best for Air flow!
Heat is only an issue if the bike is running lean. I never notice any additional heat on my legs but then i'm 5'11".
Hate to be negative. I am sure that bike is a solid rider but it is too fugly for me.
$21k? Buy a Harley
By all means buy a Harley, buy into the Harley culture and then spend another $4 to 5 thousand in an attempt to get it to match the MGX-21's performance and see yourself on the same thing everyone else rides. Overweight, overpriced and underperforming. Then you can deal with the various issues like primary chain tensioner, block castings less than flat where the barrels seat. etc. I like Harley's. They truly are the hot rod of american bikes but if i ever own one i'm getting a 50's era or a hard tail frame and an S&S engine and building my own drag style hard tail. Most new Harley's are just not attractive to me and carry too much weight. As long as i can hang leather bags on a hard tail springer forked drag style Harley you can keep the stockers. All the H.D. models are just a different combination of bolt on parts anyway that aside from the baggers all look pretty overweight and similar. Plus in a Harley 21K is pretty much the starting point. With the MGX-21 you likely won't pay 21K anyway. Just find a dealer near the end of the model year that's had a bike you want on the floor a few months and start dickering.
