Hello from Canada... I know nothing about horses but enjoy your videos and how you care so much for your animals. To see the shape they are in when you buy them, to what they turn out like... such happy-go-lucky they are. Skeletor is such a happy fella... Thank you for sharing your animals with us.
I've been watching for a short while. I, too, wondered if you were "independently wealthy". Wow. It's beyond great that you're willing and able to take such great care of the horses you rescue. It would be a lot even for a "trust fund cowgirl". I hope that you find a place to buy that has a great view - and all the other ingredients you need - for a reasonable price. You deserve that.
You are absolutely right!! That's why They call you The Clever Cowgirl!! You have a lot of smarts about you!! Anytime you can take $100 and turn it to $1000?? That's PURE GENIUS!!❤❤😊😊!!
Thrifting saved us a great deal when our children were growing up. We did not have much extra money to spend and we could find what we needed and afford it by always being on the lookout for good yard sales and bartering with friends and aquaintances. Nowdays, we don't need to thrift shop, but I still do because of my petite size and I really dislike the modern styles of most clothes. With thrifting, there is a good cross section of many styles and sizes. Good job!
Glad to hear that you feel better. This thriftshop you visit is really like a gold mine. I hope the chiropractor will be able to help Skeletor. And thank you for the sunset pictures. :)
Age 75 here. Never rode a horse, except in a kiddie pen, and know nothing about horses. As I watch your channel, I think, "This woman is what makes America great, still". I salute you.
Most of my knowledge about horses comes from watching “Heartland” and both of my granddaughters riding English and Western styles. Your channel is so educational for me. I love what you do, how you do it (with a tremendous amount of love and compassion) and your general countenance. Your horses are blessed because of you!
Two of my favorite things pop up in one video, thrifting and horses! Came for the horses stayed for the Thrifting. I’ve often wondered about whether people can do this for a living. Thanks for giving some insight into it. It’s never occurred to me to question where your income comes from. I’m always amazed how obsessed people become with the lives of UA-camrs. I try to remember that many of them might just be kids. I hate to think that I’m wrong, because that would mean there are a lot of rude adults out there. but sadly, I think that’s the case. 😂
I started out being very impressed with your knowledge and skill, and how you rehab the horses, but now I'm impressed with your financial resourcefulness also!
I don't even know how I came across your channel since I am a 57 yo native of NYC who's been on a horse exactly once in my life (in the 80s in Wisconsin 😆) but I am now a fascinated subscriber. ☺️ Thank you for explaining all of the things you do around the barn and why. I really enjoy your insight into each horse's personality (that seems the wrong word 🤣-- there should be specific ones for animals) and learning about their individual histories. And your retail expertise about apparel is dizzying 🏆🥇 I've never even heard of most of these brands! Wishing you continued success on your eBay ventures & looking forward to finding out what's up after Skeletor's vet visit. You are AMAZING 👍🏼👍🏼(and I'm going to go peek at your store now) ☺️
You are like me.We are able to see what a horse can become and not get stuck on the cosmetic or a few pounds needed. I recently got a little gelding at the auction, great bloodlines Trashadeous on top and Collena Freckles on bottom. Reining and cutting bred. But at 5 years old he only got to be 13.2 hands so nobody messed with him. He is doing great and will make someone an awesome little horse.
Good Morning!! Well no wonder I am liking your vids soooo much..... You clever girl !!! I am doing the same thrifting as you, but with solid wood furniture.... you wouldn't believe what I can find and pick up... and it sells for gooood money when I am done.... and it was kept out of the landfill. You go girl.
Oh, this brings back memories! I used to be a vet nurse too! 🐾 During lunch breaks, I'd wander through the local charity shops, finding little treasures to brighten my day. I even dabbled in reselling to make ends meet-it was quite the adventure! I miss those days of fun and hustle. 🌟 But hey, reminiscing is just as delightful! 🌼
I am so happy I found your channel! I love how you see the potential in these horses and have the patience to do what’s best for the horse. My children live in Montana one in Bozeman and one in Billings so I understand the economy and how you can find such high end clothes at Goodwill. We don’t find that here in Northern Illinois. May you be able to continue doing what you love.
One thing I've had good luck with is chopped hay for the older or dental challenged horse. Use a CLEAN leaf shredder. Run the usual ration through the shredder (pieces about the length of your little finger or shorter) and feed in a pile or tub. Feed hay chop damp or add some grain for more calories. My older horse much preferred this to slop or mush.
Wow this was eye opening! You really are a clever cowgirl. I remembered someone I met over twenty years ago who had a government job that was being phased out. She loved to thrift - especially the unusual antique roadshow kind of things. Well just as her job was ending she found something at an antique/thrift store that turned out to be worth so much she was able to open her own shop! Not that you'd want to do that when you can be outside with all your animal friends and those gorgeous mountains!
Skeletor is such a darling 💗 Thank you for sharing your resale work with us. I have a friend who resells mostly, but not always, furniture on FB marketplace (to the area/pick ups). Another who accesses offerup (mostly locals coming to pu).
Didn't know this was something people could do. As someone else commented on... came for the horses, stayed for the thrifting. Good to see how other folks can make money to afford their horses. I'm having vet recommend joint injections for my arthritic old guys. All he said was "It's expensive." and I was starting to think that I need to up my game & not just be retired & relying on my husband to be still working. I'll go look at a local thrift out of curiosity.
Oh I asked the question on another video but just found this one. Didnt expect this. My sister does this too aside from her job to get more money, but it's a lot of time and effort tbh.
I like “unplanned dismount”! Sometimes it’s gotta happen. You may actually be speaking about an emergency dismount, but I’m now going to think of falling as an unplanned dismount. It’s more positive. 😉
My best recommendation for back issues is walking... Not shopping, not cleaning stalls or fixing fences (sorry). Just walking and enjoying the surrounding. Maybe take a critter with you. Hard in winter. I sure don't want to walk when it's cold, windy, wet footing. I guess the other suggestion is to see a good chiropractor. Hope you feel better and better. Take care!
That's the same with thrift shops everywhere: mostly junk. The valuable things are few and far between, which is why resellers tend to frequent more than one store; but fortunately CC's store seems to be pretty well stocked. I once bought a real fox fur coat in good condition for $40. But that sort of thing usually only happens once every couple of decades.
This is actually how I have been able to stay at home with my disabled son so he isn't abused and I'm single. I will say it's a ton of work and yet again you amaze me with all you can do ❤️🐎
That stack of vintage Corelle plates, white with gold pattern, at the 11:56 mark would be a good buy for the right price. They sell for around $10 each new to people trying to replace broken pieces.
It makes my heart hurt to watch you shop because I think of all the things from the 70’s I gave away when my daughter outgrew them. Some of them had the original tags on them. I love your real job! You need to come to Western Pennsylvania and shop here. We have some rich people in and around Pittsburgh. I’d love to meet you, but I’m a senior now and not one of the rich ones.
It's better to have accidentally given away something (slightly) valuable than to let your house be overrun with things you don't need. Don't let self-doubt get you down; you did what was right at the time.
I went to my fav horse channel and ended up in a thrift store...weird, cool!! Let me tell you what I need...CLAM DIGGERS!! Plaid long men's shorts from the 60's...plaid short sleeve shirts...
Vintage Corning Ware is a bonus find. I just lost a ton of money on mine when it burned up I my granddaughter’s apartment fire. Fortunately she didn’t like the really valuable. She only liked my 35-year-old set.
I've seen some really nice, expensive stuff that I know I could sell if I knew how. If you think of all the time that would take, it doesn't look like you make tons and tons and certainly not enough for your property and horse keep. Horses can be expensive & can hurt themselves if you look at them cross-eyed. We're lucky to keep horses on pasture most of the year. From about January until the grass starts greening up, we feed grass hay, no grain. I'm jealous of your barn, fencing, truck & trailer, etc. That stuff is very expensive.
That’s pretty great income for one day haul! I’ve never known anyone who does the thrifting. Interesting. You mention your back pain…have you injured your back before? I have raised horses and can vouch for how hard you’re working on them! It’s very hard work and lifting is necessary. So if you have an old or even new back injury it makes it hard and sometimes impossible to do all that you do. Watching you makes me tired bc I know what it takes. It’s amazing all that you accomplish…awe to be young again! 😊 From being in TX it’s funny to hear you say it’s a mild day with ice and snow on the ground and animals out in drastic temps. Here people are warned to put livestock inside if it gets close or below zero only bc our animals aren’t typically use to that. Between you animals, your job, I don’t see how you have time for anything else! You’re the Busy Cowgirl for sure! Stay warm! You have some beautifully special animals. I’m new to your channel and kind of surfing around your videos. Great content and you present it well❤

Really nice to share a bit of your expertise. This would be I job I would like but to my knowledge we don’t have such big stores anywhere near, if at all in my country. Lots of small ones though.
I noted your eBay site is "sold out", and I hope it means your channel here is allowing you to support your horses with your videos. (Your Good Will did offer insanely classy items. Wow!)

I figured you had to have money, or a trust or a great high paying job to pay for all those horses and where you live and all the equipment. Hard to believe you make a living by reselling. My wife enjoys thrifting, goodwill and salvation army and other stores, but does not get into selling like you do. Sometimes she consigns items. We have a friend that does lots of sales through facebook and e-bay and hits tons of yard sales. Good for you.

Being a charity shop fanatic I wish I was with you looking around and buying things.
