I was an understudy of Ray's. I asked him one day to play this for me. It was better than the recording watching him on solo guitar play the riffs. I love playing this tune. His phrasing is phenomenal. When I hear people call guitar players guitar gods, I laugh because they pale in comparison to Ray.
Truth. Nobody is better than Ray.
I can't even imagine that... how does one get so good?
@@dorianpedraja5439 , I love your name, Dorian, very musical! Dorian, it is a lot of love for the instrument and a lot of work. Ray knows all modes, all scales, probably every known riff in history. He is not a trick guitarist, but a straight ahead guitarist. He can play any style. And that is all about work. Practice every day, play every day. It's not for the weekend guitarist. I wish I had the time these days to spend on my instruments these days.
I had this album on wax...
UNBELIEVABLE MUSIC!
I have it too. Love, love, love1
Ray Motha Fuckin' Gomez ! ! ! (and Lenny...a MONSTER! That outra is balls, man!)
I always dug Ray Gomez...his sense of melody and phrasing are very cool, accessible, yet still "out there". If you like this tune, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush's song "Tales of the Unexpected" is in a similar vein. My iPod is stuffed with music like this. Believe me, it never gets old.
Ray is a beast. I saw him with Stanley Clarke way back in the 70's. He's brilliant.
Ray Gomez, Lenny White and Jaws, Maui???...I am in heaven!!!
Just Outstanding Musicianship Here, Dont get Much Better than this !!!!
Gomez did some incredible guitar on the first solo album by Patrick Moraz ; The Story of "I" (in quotes because it's not actually a letter but a symbol resembling a golf tee). Between that and Stanley Clarke's first solo album Gomez earned his place among the best guitarists.
Now Your Talking...This is What I Grew Up on...When Music was Real :) Thanx a Mil for The Up :)
The song is one of my favorite. The surf video and the intensity of the wave really matched the music. thank you
harmen leurink from holland
One of my favorite songs from that era.
I had the pleasure (...more like honor) of seeing him perform with Stanley C. many, many moons ago ...and let me attest, Ray was sooo great, he's just plain SICK!
That guitar solo wow
Awesome! Always loved Ray! Lenny is the master on drums, whoah!
Great fusion stuff. High tempo, fantastic bass lines and drumming. Lenny is fantastic. Thanx
Great upload and nice surf. We had some pro surfers charter our boat and they rode waves that dwarf these. Cortes Bank surf [under ideal conditions] is possibly the largest anywhere. I saw waves ridden in excess of 65 feet in height.
Ray Gomez's Solo CD Volume has a lot of great playing on it as well even though its a little hard to find. It features the original version of "West Side Boogie" that Shawn Lane use to play.
I have the LP. I think you can get Rays music on his website.
Larry Coryell and Al Dimeola were also on guitar on this album.
Prince of the Sea
Doug was on rhythm, Ray on lead...according to liner notes on my old vinyl copy.
Yeah Ya'll...Doug is Just Off the Planet !!!!
Yeah This is one of the best guitar solos ever recorded, Ray just rips a hole into space time,
Also this video cool
I have this album....nice sound...
I've been hearing this since it first came out.
Like usual with these master pictures every time I hear it it's always magical great beautiful heaven stuff. Wow nobody speaks of Gomez as usual for Latin players.
He also did a hit like hot for teacher rhythm on drums before Eddie for the record.
No doubt at all it is Ray Gomez playing the solo.
For another great Ray Gomez monster solo of doom, listen to the title track from Stan Clarke's School Days album.
...how did Doug Rauch..play like that..a bass orchestra...what happened to that poor man❤️
Bad boy never heard anyone else play like that
the viseo works perfect with the music!!!
Great intense fusion,.. Can someone post the incredible "12 Bars From Mars"?
Got to see this live with George Duke. Monster drummer. Monster players. Magic life moment for all.
With a killer rythym section like this, Ray Gomez can take flight ✈️ 🎶 🎵 and he did!they cooked!✊️😎🔥🔥🔥
Ray says it is him. I understand you play guitar and had the album but Ray was there and he remembers playing it so I have to go with Ray's memory on this one. Sorry...
Thanks so much ,I could not remember his name now maybe I can find more work by him.
GREAT JAZZ RIDE PLAYIN, GREAT CYMBAL WORK,GREAT FILLS,TASTY STUFF ...IS LENNY WHITE LEFT HANDED,???LOVE THE SPEED OF THIS TUNE WHO IS PLAYING ORGAN/KEYBOARDS????
who cares who came up with the slap technique...lets be glad someone did haha!
mating drve in my head
Larry Coryell Jeff Beck Frank Zappa (And Others !!)
Hmmm... I always thought it was David Sancious doing that solo!
I thought it was Dave also.
3:23 There we go. Thats what I wanted to hear. Good Ol' God shining on his Holy Hammond
EMOTIONAL WAVE THEME*
scary
Great guitar solo but not one of the best in my opinion, however that bass in the background is the most insane fucking thing i have ever heard done on a bass and that keyboard player definitely fucks shit up.Also that solo was pretty insane for 1975 only other guitar players that i know of around the 70s that were that good was John Mclaughlin, and Al Di Meola.
dough rauch was not the innovator in slap technique, larry gramham started the techique then staley clarke innovated it.
Oh-so intense..... yikes!
Great Lenny White 1975 first Solo LP/CD. Great to hear the Late Doug Rauch. Ray Gomez is Utter Bliss on Lead Guitar
..Larry and Al's Solo's on The Prince of The Sea..
Can you upload Prince and the Sea? It's my favorite.
Doug fucking rauch!
Imagine what that lineup could have accomplished.
Oh...Cant forget Allen Holdsworth !!!
One of my favorite records from all the time!! What a musicians!! Incredible perfomance of each one of them!!
….the most beautiful…DOUG RAUCH 🐝🌹🌈
This a really fantastic song, inspired playing. Maybe it's a bit over the top, a bit crazy, out of control, but hey, that's what made Ray Gomez so great.
one of my favourite albums.!
Yeah i won't deny their greatness but as far as on a technical level those guys couldn't come close to what Ray Gomez was doing way back in the 70s. Shawn Lane is another that comes to mind....
This Rock Fusion Blues it keeps me breathing thanks
I wish someone could find the original credits, That is Not Ray Gomez!! I had the album, and I Play guitar, It was a person I've never heard of, Ray gomez is playing the second guitar.
