I have the same issue. The lock works perfect, it’s the dash light that is constantly on showing it’s open. I would rather just ground out the dash light just to get rid of it if I have too. I already checked the rubber harness from the trunk lid to the trunk body (which is a know issue for e46) and didn’t see any damaged wires. I need a confirmation on which wire for the trunk “boot” lock tells the dash light if it’s open or closed
This is what I'm going to end up using/doing (make an interior trunk release button mine doesn't have one) to Pop the trunk open from inside the vehicle because my truck lock cylinder doesn't works correctly. I'll put the key in, spin it and it'll lock, no pun intended and won't go either left or right anymore
Hi . I have my E46 that has the trunk light on even the if l earth pin 2 . I traced the wire it's a gray wire with a brown tracer upto the front door . It's not broken.would you have any idea what might be the cause of this problem . Cheers thank you.

Hi, did you find the problem with your trunk light? I have the same problem now. Cant open my trunk, and the trunk light is on all the time :O
