For the minor worries, those slightly darker berries are black crowberries, empetrum nigrum. They're okay to eat and can taste quite nice, but they have hard and large seeds within so you'll end up with something resembling coffee grounds in your mouth. So they're mostly used for cordials, wines and jellies. You can have taste, though. I'll say they're somewhere between sweet, juicy and bitter. You're right about cabins in national parks, as building cabins out in the wilderness is otherwise something of a business and it disturbs both the landscape and the local wildlife. And those crackers are traditional Swedish hardbread, just in a modern version. The traditional ones are made from whole grain rye and quite rough, but good if you get used to them and great for storage. The polar breads are a newer invention, they came when freezers became popular. The trick with them is they handle freezing and thawing well, so the shops can keep a stock of them in a freezer in the back room, only to take out a certain amount to be "fresh" for the day. Great when distances can often be an issue with those fresh baked breads. Thanks for sharing your experience through, I've wanted to do this myself and it's great to see how it is. Biggest change is, I'd give it another week and bring my fishing kit.
What a gruelling trip. But the joy on your face when you made it to the jetty said it all. Well done to both of you. A few misshaps but you survived. Job well done guys.
Probably the most action I've ever seen on any of your videos Andy! You and Simon were hurting on this trip. Some adventures are just tougher than others. Just think of all the stories you'll get out of this trip.
❤ I watched Simon’s version first…then couldn’t resist. So much respect for your honesty and sense of humour through it all. Still giggling at that shot of your canoe floating away. Thank YOU for filming and posting.
Hi Kent, I love your video from rogen/femundsmarka... lower parts of Røa is hard to padle with kano, thats why I like to use packraft in this area... bye the way im the guy you met in the upper part of the Røa in packraft...
This is the true definition of an adventure...ie: Someone else in deep sh*t, far away!...That makes you an Action-Adventure Hero! Congratulations!!!...Really... sorry for all the problems you suffered, but you handled them in them in the best style possible...Respect!!! Keep going! We will be here!
It would have been tiring enough with all the paddling you needed to do but all those portages well that makes it all the more difficult. Well done to the two of you Andy and Simon for completing what you set out to do. As hard and as trying as this trip has been once you get home and look back on it you'll be amazed at the beautiful sights and see just how far you went. WOW what an adventure. You will recover from the aches and pains and that is when you can sit back and enjoy the memories. 🙂
wow, what a series of awesome videos. Plenty of ups and down but done something only many could dream about. Love it when you and Simon get together and allowed all of us to share in your adventures. Well done Andy & Simon
This excursion Would be entirely too much for me. You have braved it well. This is number 3 video of yours that I've watched and I really really have enjoyed them 😊
we did 40 years of canoeing and portaging. it was great fun. we always did 2 person canoe. more stable and faster. the trips were Canadian wilderness. we also did a lot of rapids. lining or running when safe portaging when there was no choice. i really enjoyed your film. i am sorry about the problems you had. live and learn
1/29/24. Oh my goodness, the trial and tribulations of wilderness camping. Thank God , you all survived. Those rough times certainly makes you grateful when all goes well ❤️
What a trek this was. Sometimes, shit happens, but you guys tried to make the best of it regardless & enjoyed the scenery while you were there. You didn't let the hardships get to you or sour your experience. That's what counts, I think. Well done to you both!
Very sorry you had a rough experience on those rapids. Reminds me of the canoe trips my parents and I used to take, back in the 70s and 80s. Really enjoyed the scenery. Thanks for the video. :)
Glad you weren't seriously hurt when you took your spill. Sorry for any loses or damages to equipment but them's the breaks lol At least you had the experience which is more than I'll ever have. I live vicariously through my brave youtubers :) Thanks for all the great videos.
I hope you & your equipment made it out alright Andy!! Hopefully you’re going to be relaxing at home soon! That first nights sleep in your own bed is like heaven! Thank you for doing this trip & taking us along, it was amazing to watch ! ❤
Kent I think you and Simon did an excellent job. You shared the vid and the surroundings look on the bright side. You're still able to make more vids. You live and learn as we go in life.
Glad to see you guys out in actual wilderness. It’s OK to fall into the drink when canoeing usually happens everybody. It’s how you pick yourself up afterwards that counts. Please don’t stop trying to canoe you’re only gonna get better.
Kudos for pushing on through a tough run, and sharing that with us. Really enjoyed this series seeing the trip covered from yours and Simon's perspective. Hope we get to see more adventures like this, i'm sure the next one will go much smoother! Keep up the great work!
I cap sized once while white water rafting while in Quebec, Canada. We were going over one of the more crazier rock dips or whatever they're called and sitting at the back I flipped over my foot got caught by a rock. The under tow threatened to pull me down but eventually I got myself out by remaining calm as possible. It was maybe two minutes but felt like 20. Terrified lol. Amazing videos. Sorry the trip wasn't as great as it should've been. Both you and Simon have been putting out brilliant content. Thank you.
I’ve read Shackleton and other polar explorers for a few years now. Watching you overcome your struggles just makes me in awe of all exploration and adventuring. Bless you Andy every trip you ever take from now on will be heaven. What a personal challenge you will treasure when you are warm in your bed.
I feel like I’ve read and listened to everything about Shackleton! I wish there was more. Scott Franklin and Amundsen were all absolutely mind blowing to read about and listen to documentaries on. So glad someone else takes a fascination. I’m terrible in the cold but get lost in these polar explorers!
Some brutal trip in many ways Andy! I’m not sure if you ever come back to Sweden after this but if you do I think you really deserve some easier adventure. More of the bushcraff style camping closer to a car with supplies, great food and the warmth of a fire. There is still much to experience here and it doesn’t need to be such a struggle as your previous stays. Well done anyway with your achievement! I hope your gear could be saved!
You guys are both my heroes! Injuries, heartaches and challenges...but the brotherhood survives!!! Late love (as I was on my own adventure!) from the US. 💛
Andy, My husband and I have been glued to your adventures. It was epic! I hope when you look back you’ll remember the good times and be built up by what you learned from the bad. You and Simon make a good team and it was great viewing.
Man what a beautiful country. Super nice scenery views. Nice to see good friends enjoy doing things together. From the USA, take care and keep the videos coming guys !
Well done fellas that’s some adventure and you handled the adversity like troopers. If you can survive cheese in a tube you can survive anything. Thanks for sharing the adventure, really enjoyed it. Save journey home.
oh oh Andy ! those Scandinavian trips are not easy on you ! the first time you where 2 days sick and now all that bad luck an d still you stay positif and keep on filming ! its great to watch your videos and Simons videos !! please keep making videos (television has nothing to offer) greetings from Belgium and stay healthy
Hey Andy. I’ve been suffering wearing neoprene shoes on portages for years. The solution for me has been an old pair of trail running shoes and merino wool socks. Your feet will remain quasi dry and warm. You can also drill drainage holes in the soles. Their thread is aggressive enough to prevent slippage on rocks and muddy trails.
TWO MIDDLE-AGED ADVENTURERS discover a beautiful part of Sweden...and they discover that they are Two Middle-aged Fellas as well. I've been beyond that discovery phase! Best Regards!
Never good to see someone going in like that, but luckily just wet and only some scrapes and bruises 🤞🏻💪🏻. Gutted about the camera, but replaceable as bad as it is. Hopefully you still look back with fond memories now and recovered after being back home and got some good sleeps in you?
What a wonderful series of video full of adventure and peaceful. Watched all of the videos and enjoyed all of them so much Andy and Simon. Yea it was sad that you messed up with conoe and camera. But total fantastic video. Simon and Andy the forever fantastic guys. Keep it up Andy and best wishes 🙂
You are probably laughing about it now, but it was indeed a slog and challenge, with a sprinkle of bad luck Andy. Glad to see you smiling at the end. Can't wait for the next collaboration.
Well that was quite something, glad you made it to the ferry , I was exhausted just watching it , I bet you sleep for a week, when you get home . Well done Andy and Simon , quite an adventure.
Hey Andy I really felt for you after seeing you go in but now that you're back home I bet you look back on that trip as a proper good adventure and one that you'll remember for a long long time........for the right reasons hopefully 😀 top man 👍
It's been a while mate, glad to see you're still pushing the boat out 😜 not gonna lie I watched you capsizing about 4 times, then called the Mrs to see 🤣 all the best dude 👍 Skye.
So proud of you for making it to that jetty despite some difficult going. The stuff adventures are made of! And thank you for keeping recording and talking to us, even when you were so knackered. Thank you for sharing everything with us! Much appreciated! Well done, sir!
Camping/bush crafting is not always sunshine and rainbows, and this trip proves that things don't always go to plan not matter how much you plan, there is always something on the verge of going wrong, which keeps it real, otherwise people will get the impression that being out in the sticks is as easy as pie, when it's clearly not as simple as people think, Thank you Andy and Simon for showing us that things can go wrong and you can and will end up totally wet when you fall in. some you tubers don't show that, because they are there to promote how wondering the wilderness is, and probably including a clip of them falling in the water is embarrassing, so they don't include any clips of them falling in. Thanks for keeping it real Andy and Simon, I do hope nothing else goes wrong on your journey home. I look forward to your next video.
Enjoying this series Andy, the landscapes are stunning, those pancakes looked the bizzo, can't beat avocado with any food 👍You don't have much luck on these abroad trips do ya mate 😥 I'm glad you didn't drown at least.
WOW! What an adventure Andy. We have been in knots awaiting the disaster. I actually got so much into the action that I chewed my lip and bit a nice bit out of my tongue!! Heh heh....mark of a REAL adventure film. Glad the injuries were mostly knocks and bangs but I hate the loss of the camera.
Great video series of y’all’s trip ! I feel for you Andy, you truly had a rough couple of days. Great accomplishment with all the hiking with canoes & barrels 🍺
Wow!! What a challenging trip! I felt for you Andy. Portaging trips and paddling are physically challenging but you did it! White water rapids scare me.
These are the trips that you will tell stories about and laugh at in time . Long trips test you and even if some bits were crap il bet you'll be planning the next trip soon 🙂. Thanks for the work you put in with all the recording editing etc and of course the paddling 🙏
Dear Andy, a tip for future adventures. Wear your damp socks crossed ( any kind ) on the top of our cap/hat and fix it with a light strap or paracord. Wear the spare ones while those on your hat dry on sunny days. That's how they did it in the Vietnam war, carrying only 3 pairs of socks. Silly but effective! Success! So sorry for the losses of gear ..Heartbreaking.. but NO man Down !!Lovely to see you both save and sound! You are the Best man outdoor. Respect all over.
Just a wee bit of wisdom, if I might ... I have a bunch of outdoors experience over 40 years, and I'm a chef my trade .... one of the things I often say to apprentice chefs is ... the cooking is easy ... its when things go wrong and how you know how to fix them that make the expert. The good thing about rough times outdoors is the education it gives you, and how it shows you what your real limits are. Been watching both you and Simon on this trip (and all of the videos you guys make)... great stuff.
What an incredible journey. Lots of memories made on that trip. Now to celebrate your successful trip a good feed of fish and chips and a beer or two. Thank you for sharing. What a wonderful video it is.
Sometimes bad things happen but it could have been worse, Andy. I hope the positive things stick more and you still feel you had a great adventure with pal Simon. Thanks for sharing and stay positive. ✌️🙋♂️
Thanks for posting this. The things that made it a bit of an epic trial are the things which I have learned the most from. You went through it so hopefully the inexperienced, such as myself, can plan for them and either 'engineer them out' or have contingencies in place in advance. You toughed it out anyway. Respect.
Cracking trip, I bet the route looked easier on paper but hats off for getting it done. The bit when your canoe started to drift away was hilarious 😂. Shame about the spill but it happens, you recovered well and got on with it. I’m already looking forward to next years canoe trip! Atb, Ben.
Andy this looks like it was a hell of a trip for you. Props for persevering. Are you planning your next one yet?😂. Ironically as I was watching this there was an ad break just after you’d fallen in and done your piece in your hammock. The ad was for ‘Superdry’ 😂😂😂
A truly remarkable and exciting journey Andy. You certainly covered a lot of ground; both in miles paddled and walked, and also in personal growth too I suspect. Congratulations to you and Simon for such a marvellous achievement. An adventure to tell tales about for many years to come. Well done, and thanks for sharing your journey with us. 👏🏻🇦🇺🌺🌴
I Say Andy Old Chap, what a fantastic achievement. The sight of that Jetty I bet was like a mirage mate. When you said the other day it was the hardest thing you've done I completely get it now. Looked knackering. Huge well done to you and Simon. Incredible experience to do 🙏 Glad the Jerky and biltong kept ya going and sorry to hear about your camera mate. As the Samurai said "It had a good death" Awsome video series catch you soon Tally-Ho Steve
OMG!! You did amazing!! I just wanted to give you a massive hug when you went in!! You've both done a fantastic job and something that will stay with you forever! It looked absolutely gruelling but... YOU DID IT!!! 🥳🥳🎉🎉I'm sooo happy for you!! Bet your bed and shower was amazing 🤣 Congratulations guys 👏👏👏
No words other than impressive determination. May I say I'm glad you didn't get seriously hurt. Those rocks in the water were treacherous at best. Hope you can get access your video on your camera that went in the water. Nerves of steel there. Well done to finish that trek.
Loved the vid! Being in the outdoors means from time to time things will go wrong, you handled it well and kept going so well done. It’s the stories and memories we leave the bush with that makes a trip successful.
Great video from you both ..just goes to show that not every trip can go without hitches but you both managed it and kept us on edge whilst doing it ..looking forward to your next adventure
Very well done Andy. What a slog your last 2 days were. So sorry to see you take a dip too. That’s all you needed! That on top of all your other misfortunes.
Bless your heart! This was a rough one!! Yet, you still had the work ethic and dedication to continue filming! 😮 Most would’ve said, enough! Thank you for that. Get some rest! P.S. Hope Simon does too. He had a rough one, also. We saw him go in, as well.
What a spectacular adventure -- grueling, brutal, beautiful! Probably a lot of cursing and a ton of laughs. Such Beam-me-up-Scotty-NOW! sagas make for a lifetime of great stories. Thanks again for sharing the experience -- the ups and the downs. Would be interested in the after-action report -- particularly what clothes-gear-food you'd pack, given a do-over. I gather you'll not ever again do that particular journey.... Welcome home. Looking forward to your next installment of searing a lovely steak over the campfire at your camping lean-to.

Do you happen to have his channel name?
Simon, a bloke in the woods
Where can I find Sumon's version please?
The look of joy, when you accomplish something meaningful and fulfilling. Well done men....

They are awesome for doing this trip!
Sorry your trip didn't go as planned. Hopefully the next trip is better. Glad you boys made it back in one piece.
This excursion Would be entirely too much for me. You have braved it well. This is number 3 video of yours that I've watched and I really really have enjoyed them 😊
Damn nature is brutal! Glad you guys survived! We love you guys! Thank you so much for doing this trip!❤️💯🤘🍻
Respect to you both Andy. That trip was brutal.

Brilliant Andy and Simon. Fantastic achievement and superb memories. Huge respect and gratitude for filming and sharing. ATVB2U Scott Somerset
Brutal portages eh mate? Same time next year? 😃
Very sorry you had a rough experience on those rapids. Reminds me of the canoe trips my parents and I used to take, back in the 70s and 80s. Really enjoyed the scenery. Thanks for the video. :)
I laugh as much as I learn 😂 Found you individually, love your joint adventures! Greetings from New Orleans ⚜️💜

Well done Andy, sometimes you just got to get through one step at a time. Stay positive mate your vids are great 👍
Just wow. Sending much respect from America to you both ...for this undertaking.

Andy amazing flip. Cool your using a hammock. The feast looks good, and it's cool to see Simon from another view. His Friends. Cheers.
Thank you.

I suggest a nice road trip in the USA next year. It'll nice and easy and extremely relaxing!
Great videos Andy. Thanks.
You chatting about rocks while your canoe floats away is priceless
Shat myself though it’s gone 😂

What a breathtaking place! Itd be wonderful just to spend a few days camping and fishing and taking a dip in the water! So relaxing! ❤️❤️
Great series. Probably the last time you'll ever go in a canoe. I know I'd never get in one again after all of that.
Thanks Andy for your honesty and brilliant video
That looked incredibly hard. Big well done to both of you 👏
Andy, My husband and I have been glued to your adventures. It was epic! I hope when you look back you’ll remember the good times and be built up by what you learned from the bad. You and Simon make a good team and it was great viewing.
Anyone else really wanted to see Andy's reaction to turning around and his canoe going bye have a beautiful time😅

What an entertaining video . Thank you Andy and Simon . ATB Gail from Worcester Massachusetts USA 🇺🇸
Just watched all 3 video's ( back to back) on your trip, and wow! Nice scenery on route, well done both of you 😄🎉
WOW! What an adventure Andy. We have been in knots awaiting the disaster. I actually got so much into the action that I chewed my lip and bit a nice bit out of my tongue!! Heh heh....mark of a REAL adventure film. Glad the injuries were mostly knocks and bangs
but I hate the loss of the camera.
Brilliant mate. One of my favourite videos by one of my favourite UA-camers 👌
.....watching that was mighty impressive. You two should be very proud to have achieved such a trip.
Well done. 😎☯️🍻
Hiking, camping, canoeing AND diving! you did it all, Andy!
Brutal !!!! Glad you guys made it safely !
Simon is your brother Andy. He looks out for you! And you for him! Excellent work the best on UA-cam!

I have mad respect for UA-camrs who post their “failures”. Cuz, that’s REALITY!…and that is what I want to watch.
Thanks for posting this. The things that made it a bit of an epic trial are the things which I have learned the most from. You went through it so hopefully the inexperienced, such as myself, can plan for them and either 'engineer them out' or have contingencies in place in advance. You toughed it out anyway. Respect.
Hi Andy
thanks for all your time and effort making your videos I really enjoy watching them….hope that you and your equipment are ok 👍
What a great adventure Andy and Simon even if you faced some bad luck but still you guys made it. Salute!
Still watching but just wanted to say hope you're doing well and I'm loving this adventure so far ☺🏞🏕🛶
A truly remarkable and exciting journey Andy. You certainly covered a lot of ground; both in miles paddled and walked, and also in personal growth too I suspect. Congratulations to you and Simon for such a marvellous achievement. An adventure to tell
tales about for many years to come. Well done, and thanks for sharing your journey with us. 👏🏻🇦🇺🌺🌴
Bit late to the party but just love these trips with yourself and Simon. Very enjoyable watching from the warmth and dry of my bedroom.
Thank you :D
That was flipping awesome! Loved following the adventure.
You could see the relief on both your faces when you reached the ferry pier…looked like a gruelling trip…
Wow Andy (and Simon) we just caught up with this after a few weeks offline - tough looking trip, well done both. J&A
I Say Andy Old Chap, what a fantastic achievement.
Bet your bed and shower was amazing 🤣
Congratulations guys 👏👏👏
Cheers to you guys. I love doing all the things you guys are doing, just on a much less grueling scale. Those portages look brutal💪
