- Fishing, bushwacking, river fording, scrambling and no other people - the perfect recipe for an adventure!

In August, two friends and I travelled to Lomsdal-Visten National Park for 15 days. There was supposed to be one more, but unfortunately he got sick and couldn't come with us. The trip was fantastic! The national park is incredibly beautiful and we only met one other group of people - some French people in Lomsdalen. We started in Tosbotn and ended in Storbørja. The plan was to take a longer route, but the weather wasn't in our favour, so we decided to relax and fish along the way instead :)I chose some slightly different routes that I haven't seen others take. We went up to Geehpjaevrie, for example, where the views were outstanding. However, the climb was quite steep and we had to use our hands in some places. We also took a shortcut down by Blankvatnet as the weather forecast was bad. The route looked steep on the map, and it was, but with full zoom on the Norgeskart app we found a safe way down. It wasn't as bad as expected. We walked along the south side of Sæterdalen, an area that felt completely untouched by people. The terrain was challenging at times, but passable. We then walked briefly in the lake: Lakselvvatnet, but you can easily stay higher up in the terrain. We crossed Lakselva at the outlet to Lakselvvatnet, the ford was about 60 metres long. The ford was tricky at times, but the water level allowed us to support ourselves on some of the stones in the river with our hands. We crossed the river because we hoped it would make our journey easier as there is a path on the other side of the river in Børjedalen. That day we walked all the way to the cabin at Tøymvatnet as we couldn't find a good camping spot. It rained heavily the whole way and we got soaked to the bone.On the last day we did some fishing in the sea while we waited to be picked up. We were taken out by Velfjordskyss - great service!

At 10:58 you pass an old Sami sacrifical stone - a big boulder with a smaller rock on top. And in Henriksdalen - on the right hand side of the river from the small patch of wood in the middle of that caption - a Sami magical drum (the remains, only the frame) was found in 1969. It is exhibited at the museum in Hommelstø, Velfjord. Great trip lads - you impress me, especially with all the river crossings.
I hope I can borrow this caption to use in a presentation I have about the drum and its owner's history.
Brave crazy boys! Some shots are wonderful. Thanks.
Thanks :)
Hope you like it! Feel free to ask questions. And please like and subscribe :)
Also this is not a beginner trip, you should have experience from other backpacking trips in Norway or Sweden 😊
6:12 how crazy is that scene ?! great video :)
Yhea! thanks! we had quite a lot of rainbows :)
Great video, great editing!
Simona - Lorenzo's mum
Thank you! :)
to this day I still have no idea how I actually managed that, still that was easily the best trip of my life
Haha, yhea it was hard at times! But we made it :)
Did you follow a trail?
Epic, finding a hut with a warm fire after a cold wet day, is really heaven! Thanks for the great video. How much were you carrying excluding food? Will be in Padjelanta this summer, not sure if I should take my zpack Duplex or Hilleberg Soulo. Both have pros and cons. The Duplex has been good in previous years but last time was slightly damaged in a big storm. Like that it’s less than 1kg and has lots of space.
Thanks! Unfortunately we had to warm up the hut ourselves, but it was really nice!! Good questions... The problem is I carry a lot of camera equipment so that is quite heavy and with a hilleberg Allak 2 and fishing equipment I ended up around 18 kg without food. Are you going on the Padjelantaleden? If so then you can camp in shade of the huts or in them if there were to be a big storm, and if you have something to get a weather forecast with. Otherwise if you are going around on the big plateau then I think you will be happy with the Soulo, since it is hard to find cover if you are way up in the mountains. 2 years ago I go 20 m/s + just on the border of Sarek and Padjelanta :) You can see my other video, that is from that trip :)
Awesome video you guys!!
Question why not take shoes off and wade in something like crocs of sandals?
Cheers from Holland
Thanks! Often we did but if the current is really strong and the rocks are big and slippery, then it is a lot safer to use boots as they provide much more support and better grip :) And the type of shell boots that I use dry quite quick.
Epic adventure! How did you organize the drop off at the start and pick up? Both starting and finishing points look pretty remote
Thanks! We contacted Velfjordskyss regarding pick up, and then we were supposed to take a bus, but one of my friends got sick and then the bus did not go in the weekend, so we got a local to drive us for gas money :)
Vakkert! Hvilket kamera bruker du? Og filmer du i 1080p? 25 eller 50 fps? -Elisa
hi which maps cover that section ?
Hey Marius. Fed video.
Also how did you guys came up with this route?
I did some research of where other people walked and looked at photos of where it looked beautiful, but there is very little information. I think we are some of the very few (if not the only people) who walked up to Geehpjaevrie and down to Blankvatnet that way. But that "short cut" I decided to go because we had very bad weather coming and I did not want the descend down the mountains on slippery rocks when I already knew it was going to be quite steep. But originally I made a plan A, B and C and then while there I changed some more. Also I think the southern part of Sæterdalen is visited extremely rarely, maybe 1 person/group a year max or maybe only every 10 years...
I also used topographic maps and a lot of websites with maps and 3D satellite imagery to research.
@@mariuskarlsson1742 Some hikers go to Geehpjaevrie and then turn west following Søre Austerdalen down to Børjedalen. It is not too far, but quite rocky at times, from the few pictures I have seen people have shared. Lomsdal-Visten is actually one of the hardest national parks to reach - there really is quite a threshold either way you try to enter it.
