While they added more on another track, the note was real. On another song, he does one almost as long, but he varies the pitch, making it impossible to loop. He is the real deal. Sherriff actually broke up before the song made the charts, so he made another group called Alias, with the song More Than Words Can Say.
Yeah the guitar player and drummer from heart joined the singer and guitar player from Sheriff. I met freddy the singer, at a bar in Toronto in the 90s at a jam night, i was drunk andsaid hey u should go up and sing when im with you lol he was kinda shy and said i dont think the guys would want to play it, meaning all the guys doing a jam night cause it was more heavy rock songs being played, but i think the crowd would of loved it.
He has another song call "More Than Words Can Say" with his other band Alias. Awesome song. Freddie Curci has a beautiful voice, it's a shame he didn't have more success.
This Canadian 🇨🇦 Band had broken up when this song hit Number 1 in the US, in 1989. They were the first Canadian Band to top the US charts since 1974, when Bachman Turner Overdrive reached that spot with " You ain't Seen Nothing Yet". Great vocals, romantic lyrics and memorable instrumentation made for a big hit. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Miss Blondie. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
It hit #1 in 1989 in the U,S, The song was first released in 1982 and charted quietly in Canada & U.S. In late 1988 a DJ in Las Vegas started playing this "old" song and it quickly recharted and went to #1. The band had broken up long before the song reached #1. Several band members went on to form Frozen Ghost and the singer & guitarist eventually formed Alias with former Heart members.
@@terryomalley1974I don't think it made the charts in '83 when it was first released, did it? I thought the band was already broken up when they re-released it and it was a hit.
That was live and the note was real... That note was the longest hitting note in the Guinness world book of records from that era 1982... I believe it was held for 28 seconds.
The first time, the song wasn't held for that long, but they did it a second time, and I think the keyboard guy was supposed to blend him off, and he didn't.
Excellent reaction to a wonderful song! The lead singer, Freddy Curci, lead another band named Alias. Please react to the Alias song, More Than Words Can Say. Thanks brother!
The 1980’s was THE decade of the Power Ballads and this one shines! So many more to hear as well, a few suggestions (but not all to be found) are "No One Like You” - Scorpions, "The Flame” - Cheap Trick, "Don't Dream It's Over”- Crowded House, "(I Just) Died In Your Arms” - Cutting Crew, "I Need You Now” - Firehouse, "Is This Love” - Whitesnake, "Save All Your Love” - Great White, and "Turn Me Loose” - Loverboy. Pick ANY song off the self titled debut album from the SUPERGROUP Asia (#1 album of the year in 1982) and you won’t believe your ears, I’ll start you off with "Here Comes The Feeling”"
There's 2 versions of this on YT, I believe this one is studio dubbed over the live. The live version he doesn't do that sustained note, although he does hit some pretty high notes at the end. Regardless, Freddy was an amazing vocalist. You should listen to some of his Alias stuff, there's some live on YT (More Than Words Can Say, Haunted Heart). Just love him.
That note was not enhanced. In fact, he could have held it longer. The tone of his voice went higher the longer he held it, giving the impression of some kind of reverberated effect, however it’s not the case.
Because that wasn't the original. The original one was a long note in the end. And along with Dinner Summer, yes he and she both made the, Word of Guinness records, for the longest note in a song!!!! That's a bad song. I heard it on Cold Case in the end of the case being solved, they played it!! I've been listening to it ever since. Beautiful song!!!
Okay, from what I see it used to be a world record, but not anymore. Whether it was enhanced or not, I really wouldn’t know. One of the longest notes is by a-ha’s Morten Harket on “Summer Moved On”, which apparently is the longest note in a chart hit. The longest recorded note apparently wasn’t a hit, but still a world record.
I love this song but I have always felt the note was stretched out by effects. It sounds like it is echoing at the end because of a special audio effect. Either way it is a great song.
The album version had the long note. He was supposed to be told when to stop and he didn’t receive the cue so he kept on singing. THIS isn’t the right version. I think this might have been a video they produced.
To all you people who don't think the note was real, I'm very sure that Guinness Book would have definitely checked it out rather closely before saying it was a world record.
Freddy was just 19 in this video. Amazing voice. Sung live at the improv in LA. And yes this is the dubbed version over the live performance. The live version with his live voice is elsewhere on UA-cam. That one is not as perfect but still amazing.
The studio version is dubbed over that live performance for some reason. Here is the actual live version: ua-cam.com/video/WKGYYWBgXrc/v-deo.htmlsi=UTCLhqf18ImNdfuM
The note is enhanced. Studio trickery. He was outstanding, but if you want really natural non enhanced vocal pyrotechnics, try "Surf's Up" by Jim Steiman......Rory Dodd on vocals was phenomenal on it.

No keyboard dude. That was the real singer setting a Guiness World Record
One of the greatest power ballads of all time.
I saw them on this tour in 1983 when I was in junior high school here in Canada. (Free concert, country fair...) He held the notes then too. Cheers!
He’s actually in 2 bands and had another number one hit with his other band called ALIAS. The song is called “More Than Words Can Say”.

@@Spinspiel Thanks. ✌️👍🎶🇨🇦
@@Spinspiel Thanks for the info!
Toque sings this song very well also. Also Canadians. Although I do like the original from Shariff !!!!!
I was in high school when this song hit the charts--and I've loved it ever since.
The first time in '83? Or the second time in '89?

What a wonderful song
This song holds a very special place in my heart , ❤️for a special someone that dedicated it to me back in the day. ☺️🔥👍
Great ballad! Had forgotten about this one. Thanks for the reaction!✌
What a voice ❤

The video is live but someone has placed the studio version on top. Look around and you'll find the real live version.
@@SpottedBulletthat’s what I was gonna say. I noticed his mouth movements at the end and it threw me off till I saw the actual live version
28 seconds it right.
A band called Toque has a UA-cam video performing this song and it’s great. Appreciating you Man!
He later sang the Alias power ballad "More Than Words Can Say",
This came out years after the band had split. They had already called it quits and this shot to #1.
Harri, thanks for doing this one. It was our wedding dance song, so great memories.
I was at a few weddings in the 80's where it was the same. :)
The first time, the song wasn't held for that long, but they did it a second time, and I think the keyboard guy was supposed to blend him off, and he didn't.
Beautiful tune…I love this song
Love this song so much ❤
Love this song. This song was played at my junior high school dances .This brings back good memories.😺😺
You are a very good nan!
Celine deons longest note is 21 seconds his note is 28 seconds
This came out when I was 18… whew it was so romantic! Swoon ❤ 🇨🇦 Thank you @Blondie and @Harri!

Yes, you can tell his holding the note at the end in this version is changed.
He is actually is in the Guinness
books of world records for the longest note ever
I was expecting it too!
The song was released years before it went number 1. By the time it did the band had already broken up!
No keyboard and not enhanced. 28.3 seconds it was all Freddy you are wrong. He still holds the record.
Hey you should do jeff Healey see the light, the live version its ao awesome!!!

truth
This album was extremely hard to find back then...I had to go to 5 record stores.
Another Canadian band.
Hey Harri!

He couldn't be in the record book if it had been enhanced. The records are studied closely before the get in
Great Song... Just wished the ball bounced a little better for them.

Good stuff. Check out Steelheart
Linda Ronstadt has held some mighty long notes as well…I’m just sayin 🌺✌️

I Can See Clearly by Johnny Nash held the longest note record then Air Supply All Out Of Love broke that record. Not sure on this song.

According to Guinness world Records, it was real at 19.3 seconds.
Meatloaf's version was no slouch either.
