And they all say similar stuff. Doesn’t ring true. They all pause at similar places, “oh I wasn’t expecting that” they say, yet they pause before they’ve fully heard the bit they weren’t expecting. @Rhonda Bothelio yes exactly! He left out I but he's talking about himself....you know this for sure when he sings "but now I've gone and thrown it all away" like he threw away his life
I apologise if someone else has told you this previously, but this song was written by Freddie Mercury the lead singer who was brought up in a conservative and religious (Zoroastrian) family. It's about him being gay and how he felt about how that affected his family's love towards him. That personal touch of dismay and fear coupled with the amazing musicality is what IMO makes this song so great. I was 12 when it was released and even at that callow age I knew that I was hearing something that had never quite been heard before. Your reaction was beautiful and brought echoes from my first hearing back to my heart. Thanks.
bohemian rhapsody is a rhapsody, this is how rhapsodies work: "A rhapsody in music is a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, colour, and tonality. An air of spontaneous inspiration and a sense of improvisation make it freer in form than a set of variations." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhapsody_(music) and yes, it is a masterpiece. it cannot be compared to most music in any way shape or form, there are very few pieces of music that are on it's level.
Pure brilliance! I remember well the day Freddie died. He was incredible, beyond words, his story is real,, So blessed to be hear them in high school RIP FREDDIE ❤🧡💛💚🧡🧡❤💛💜💙💚💙❤💚

Hey, Scribecash, imagine driving along and this song comes on the radio the first time you've ever heard it. I didn't know what was going. I had to pull over to the side of the road to take it all in. So fun watching you experience for the first time!
There is a documentary called Inside The Rhapsody about this song. It divides neatly into 3 parts - Part 1 is Brian and Roger describing how it came about. Part 2 is Roger going through how the video was made and Part 3 is Brian talking you through the master tape and how they laid down each track. It's fascinating how much went into this one song.

Thank you!! Greatest rock song of all time!! 💯💯 Freddie Mercury (lead singer, songwriter) never talked in details about the meaning of this song; only classified it as Rock Opera. He also said this song represents him foreshadowing his life because he began writing this when he was in school. The beat switches are EPIC!! WELCOME TO THE AMAZING JOURNEY OF BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY!! Lol!! 🤣🤣 RIP FREDDIE MERCURY. 💙🙏 AWESOME reaction!! Thank you again! 😁👊🙏
I love watching Queen reactions from those who are hearing them for the first time. Yours is one of the best visible reactions to this particular song I've ever seen and one of the very few who've paid attention to the subtle intricacies and flow of the actual music. It's like you really feel it and not just from your ears. Liked and subbed.♥️
2:28 "shout out to their engineer" that's called skill, not auto-tuning or sound engineering... they know how to trip up the sound with their harmonies. that's how good queen was
I think she was referring to having the music switching from one earphone to the other at a time at that point in the track I've listened to this track so many times and never noticed that.
@@jackthelad9933 no.... if queen was god. then why is it the majority of the world all but forgot about them. save for a few like me who prefers their music to the weird zombie noises that pass for music these days, until the movie came out?? now it's like a slew of people coming out like "why have i never heard good music like this?" so now you see soo many youtubers these days posting first time reactions to queen, motorhead, acdc, and so on these days
Honey you have just been baptized into the world of Queen. On point of this song.. It took Freddie 7 years to write this MASTERPIECE PIECE. Such a great reaction from you my dear. Enjoy the ride . You have ALL of us (QUEEN) fans on board to help your along the way. I was 16 when I heard this song on the radio.I’m so blessed that I grew up in the best 20 years of musical perfection...Judy D.
Now you know how we felt back in '75 when this was released. We were staring at our radios, unable to believe what we were hearing. And keep in mind this was off Queen's 5th album, A Night at the Opera. We were already used to them doing amazing stuff for their past four albums. Then, they out do themselves on this. The song is pure genius. It closely follows the classical rhapsody form, and at the same time stays in the form of a rock anthem. Nobody ever did that before. The vocal and guitar harmonies are sublime: and their drummer, Roger Taylor, sang the high parts, AND played drums at the same time! It may interest you to know that the guitarist, Brian May, holds a Ph.D in astrophysics, and works with NASA when he's not playing music. He was on the team for the New Horizons mission to Pluto. They were like "We want to send a probe the size of a piano, traveling for 9 years, to a planet 3.2473 billion miles away, take photos, and get a ton of scientific data while it flies past at 38,000 MPH." He was like "Hold my beer."
John Deacon's RUNDOW OR ALONG BASS LINE Propels Us Into The Final Interlude Which Is So Amazing - 1975 = Not Even Today Would You Have Something Like This Masterpiece.
Queen has a lot of good songs. Their two "Masterpieces" are obviously Bohemian Rhapsody and the other being "Innuendo." Innuendo is incredible and worth a reaction.
Don't Stop Me Now should be next in my opinion. Followed by 1. Somebody to Love live in Montreal 2. Under Pressure live at Wembley 3. Death on two legs the original diss song. Freddy showing his anger in a very nasty way but fun to hear 4. Love of my life live at Wembley 5. An absolute must watch MUST WATCH is Live Aid
Probably one of the best Queen reaction ever. It is so great whenever you fell the one posting the video also can sing. Does not hurt she is a beauty too ;)
I love your metaphor of being in a balloon floating in the clouds. The first half of the song does have that kind of feel. I'm not sure what metaphor I would use to describe the rest of the song. Maybe skydiving through a hurricane. Ha ha.
Darlin, you make this 59 yr old lady proud. You and I come from music deep in our soul. The 1st time I herd this song I was transported to rock n roll heaven. Hook, line and sinker....I'll ALWAYS BE A ROCKER. And you will keep Rockin. I just know it. Thank you for being you.
No one outside of Queen quite knows what the song is about. Common thought is this was Freddie coming out. Momma is either his mum, or Mother Mary (Mary Austin the love of his life). The bit in the middle is said by Freddie (and Roger) to be "nonsense and a bit of fun", however some folk see this as an emotional struggle. IF you look at the song, it goes through sadness, angst (the opera) anger (the rock bit) and then acceptance.
Gareth Thomas...I’ve heard that theory that ‘Mama’ was meant to be Mary & not Jer, his actual Mom/Mum as Freddie always referred to her as either his Mum/Mom or Mother...NEVER has I heard him refer to her as ‘Mama.’ However, many ladyfriends, girlfriends, wives, and woman lovers WERE referred to as ‘Mamas’ back in the early to mid ‘70’s...particularly in the States. I’ve also heard that the Scaramouche, Galileo, Figaro were suspose to represent Rog, Bri, & Deacy with Rog being the clown, Bri being the serious star gazer, & Deacy being the sweet/gentle cat from the Disney’s Pinocchio, though some will say he’s from the “Barber of Seville.” I think it’s the Disney character though as Deacy is often seen wearing the bow tie like the cat in Pinocchio✌🏾!
Freddy Mercury could sing his ass off and was a hell of a showman. Saw Queen at the Chicago Stadium on the News Of The World tour in 1978 and it was a killer show.
Hammer To Fall is another great tune by them and Killer Queen,Another One Bites the dust,Dragon Attack,Save Me,Play The Game,Don't Try Suicide,Sail Away sweet Sister,Rock It!(prime Jive), all great songs that Play The Game album is beyond great the whole album
This has to be my all time favorite reaction to this song and I've watched at least a hundred! Thank you, you are great! At first I was disappointed that you didn't watch the official version with the video (which you need to do NOW, its the first ever music video done in 1975) but I think using the lyrics version helped you really hone in on the music.
🙋🏾♀️ Janetjrfan💁🏾♀️ It’s quite refreshing that ScribeCash is doin’ things a bit differently in her reactions by goin’ for the lyrics on THIS one as the visuals are a bit distracting✌🏾!
To give you mind blowing facts about this song. - The harmony singing in the beginning of the song was all Freddie, he overdubbed his own voice over 20 times to really get that choir sound going. - The back track of Piano, Drums and Bass was recorded in one take, no stops, the full thing was Freddie on Piano, John on bass and Roger on Drums. - Guitarist Brian May, much like Freddie, would overdub his guitar parts, so it sounds like a complete orchestra playing
As one that was a teen when this came out, I LOVED watching you hear it for the first time! it was like a baby having ice cream for the first time with a little touch of brain freeze, cute and hilarious! I had to share it! 🤣
One of Queen's most unforgettable songs. Freddie Mercury (Born, Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar) was the lead singer. Unfortunately he died in November 1991. R.I.P. Freddie
Loved your reaction to this timeless masterpiece. All the opening harmonies are all Freddie, he sounds just amazing. This song was actually 3 songs that Freddie could never finish, so he decided to combine them into one song. You really missed out on the total Queen BoRap experience by not watching the original music video for this song. The video revolutionized how music promos were created. The video is credited to being responsible for the creation of MTV and VH1. Please react to the official video, you won't be disappointed. The song doesn't say that his mother killed someone. Freddie was saying that he killed someone. I think that you're the only reactor to notice Brian Mays tickling guitar sound after Freddie sang, "sent shivers down my spine". All four members of Queen have composed hit singles. The only musical group to do this and all four were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. Queen has lasted thru generations of listeners because they weren't afraid to experiment with the Queen sound. Sometimes, their fans and critics didn't realize Queen's true genius. Queen was ahead of the times. They recorded the first Thrash Metal song, Stone Cold Crazy. Queen has a fantastic catalog of music. Their live concert recordings are amazing. My personal opinion, I think they sounded better live. So many songs are under-rated gems, they're just waiting for music listeners to discover. A few amazing songs to start off listening to are: Queen -Live Aid Wembley -13 July 1985 - Complete Freddie holding his mic in one hand and the audience in his other, all 72,000 at Wembley and the other 1.9 billion watching Live Aid on tv. Queen stole the show from 75+ other performers. This performance has been voted the best live rock 'n roll performance ever. Freddie was advised by doctors not to perform at Live Aid due to a throat infection, he obviously didn't take the doctors' advice. And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - drank vodka - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal". ua-cam.com/video/t99KH0TR-J4/v-deo.html Queen - Don't Stop Me Now (Official Video) Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” is the world’s most effective song to make you feel good. ua-cam.com/video/HgzGwKwLmgM/v-deo.html Queen - It's Late (Official Lyric Video) A truly, very under-rated Queen gem. ua-cam.com/video/0PItMuGp39Q/v-deo.html Enjoy your Queen musical journey.
🙋🏾♀️ E. James Shepard 😂...I think EVERYBODY’S heard the song before but many have never heard it in it’s ENTIRITY from start to finish...payin’ attention to the lyrics, song transitions, etc. I particularly appreciate seeing young reactioners who are also musicians or singers today listen to REAL music from back in the day. THAT’S the appeal of these “First Time Ever....” reaction videos✌🏾!
Freddie wrote that masterpiece! He was musical genius! ❤❤❤ Watch 65.000 people singing Bohemian rapsody in the Hyde park London, England before Green day concert 2017. It's amazing!
Yes, as you described it, it is a masterpiece. That's why (as some others have commented) it seems rather incredulous that you haven't heard it before. Of course, coming from a graybeard such as myself who bought Queen's first album when I was in high school, it could simply be a generational thing. Most of the suggestions you're getting for other Queen songs to listen to are from later offerings, but there are some solid songs on their first album. "Liar" with some nice harmonizing and "Keep Yourself Alive" with some good 'ol rocking come to mind. Check them out.
🙋🏾♀️ Vegan Todd 💁🏾♀️ Funny how you say this might be a generational thing that ScribeCash might not have seen (or heard) this song before. I know many reactioners who’ve gone down the Queen rabbit hole quickly discovered they’d in fact have ‘heard’ of their songs before, but was not aware that those songs were done by them. Bo-Rhap was initially reintroduced to to the young ‘90’s generations via Wayne’s World movie...today’s youth have been introduced via Bo-Rhap biopic. There a quite a number of rock groups from the 60’s on that have huge ‘hits’ doin’ their times...and many may still get airtime today; however, one would have to be listening to that type of music genre to recognize the songs today. If one’s not listening to it, they wouldn’t know. So I would give ScribeCash (& other young reactioners new to the ‘rock genres’...especially eclectic ‘progressive/glam/psychodelic’ rock genre that’s not typically heard as much as ‘classic rock’ ✌🏾.
"Mama, (I) just killed a man ..." has been the largest mistake people have made about this song. In this particular video, they needed that first comma.
fun fact Brians Guitar was home made by him and his dad part of it was his mothers knitting needle. it is UNIQUE in tone because it was home made by him..thats why its such a special sound
@@mikecaetano Brian has said it was his guitar. "After the lyric "shivers down my spine", May created a 'shiver' sound by playing the strings behind the bridge of his guitar."
Trivia note: this song was recorded on tape on just four tracks, according to guitarist Brian May. He said by the time they were done layering all those dubs onto those four tracks, there was hardly anything left of the tape. It was almost completely worn through in spots and could barely be transferred to the master tape
There are going to be people coming on here, purporting their own interpretation of what the song means... but it’s important to know that Freddie himself *never* spoke about the “meaning” of any of his songs. He preferred to leave it up to the listener. Just keep that in mind when the theorists start commenting ! 😊
Omg girl. As a 53 year old white guy I remember when this song came out. I love reaction videos cause they take a song that I’ve always known and take me back to the first time I ever heard it. If I could bottle your facial expressions I would be a millionaire. Thank you for making me smile today!!
Love your energy! Great reactions....Please react to ”It’s a Kind of Magic” live from Wembley in 1986 and “Somebody to Love” - live version from Montreal in 1981. Other greats are “Who Wants to Live Forever” and “Cool Cat” (no live version, but such a funky smooth song with just Freddie & John). Too many others to name but I’m sure other commentators will give you ideas 🤗 PS - “Don’t Stop Me Now” has been voted the happiest song in the world.
Fifty years from now you will be listening to this very same song and it still won't be too much! I love the music you've reacted to as much as your reaction to them. Watching someone react to Queen Bohemian Rhapsody will never get old! Of course I subscribed. 🤗
More Queen? Death on Two Legs! Or if you want some serious funk, though, check out Dragon Attack. I don't think any reaction channel has touched that one yet. Otherwise, some of their greatest classics include Another One Bites the Dust (which you'll likely recognize) and Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Probably the hardest rocking song they've every done is Sheer Heart Attack. They have so many great songs that were never radio hits. Spread Your Wings would seriously be considered one of those.
🙋🏾♀️ Rick Brasseaux 💁🏾♀️ When suggesting “Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to...)” you MUST have the reactioners do a 2 for 1 with “Flick of the Wrist” as the 1st one to segue into “Death on Two Legs” as “Flick of the Wrist” was the precursor to the other one. A little background on “Flick of the Wrist”...this song touches on how music moggles can and have intimidated young musicians into singing their lives away...how they’re ‘forced’ into a lopsided contract resulting with the artrist loosing an ‘arm’ & ‘leg’ which appeared on their 3rd & last LP under Trident. The follow-up “Death on Two Legs (Dedicated to...)” was argubly the first ever ‘diss track’ that was specially aimed at their first manager Norman Sheffield who basically stole all of their money. It’s the 1st track on their *Night at the Opera* LP which was their 1st under new management/label. Since they were no longer under the thumb of Sheffield, Freddie wrote this scathing number as a warning to the following up ‘n coming groups/artists. Sheffield sued Queen & it was settled out of court but both songs are a must listen together to get the FULL impact✌🏾!
4:15 he is THE master of vocal technique, vocal coaches fall silent and stunned when they see recordings of him singing, they cannot advise him to do better. one of the best voices ever recorded. some vocal coaches even reference him to help train students.

One of the best things about this - NO AUTOTUNE! Freddie Mercury was amazing. He had a vocal range of F#2 to the high pitch G5. If you really want to hear Freddie at his vocal range best, listen to "Bicycle Race." It's a short, unpredictable song where Freddie's harmonies are absolutely spectacular. The band is tight as can be. Highly recommended. 😎

He is not referring to his mother when he said 'just killed a man'. He is referring to himself.
In her defense, whoever wrote the lyrics missed a comma after "Mama."
Yeah I never knew why so many people misunderstand this for me it was obvious immediately that it was him talking to his mama...
@@chuckwilliams6261 Commas can save lives. "Let's eat, grandpa!" vs. "Let's eat grandpa!"
@Rhonda Bothelio yes exactly! He left out I but he's talking about himself....you know this for sure when he sings "but now I've gone and thrown it all away" like he threw away his life
@@Secret-Serenity What really gives it away 'pulled my trigger'.
You’re musical. I can tell.
Welcome to one of the most incredible songs ever written. You felt that big time didn’t you?
For sure-She can Play something! If not buy an instrument and it wont be long before you are playing great!
Thanks.
This is Freddy Mercury's version of a rock opera. Freddy was such a great musical genius, such a great loss to the music world when he passed.
It's Freddie NOT Freddy nowhere on any album or single is it written as Freddy it's FREDDIE ok thank you

There you have the brilliance of Queen. They broke all the barriers.
That’s the best reaction to this song I’ve ever seen!!
The first bit is Freddie harmonising with himself. It's thought to be about transition as opposed to actually killing someone.
True....about killing the straight man and coming out of the closet
"Shout out to that engineer". Roy Thomas Baker. Also, that soprano was Rodger Meadows Taylor-their drummer.
bohemian rhapsody is a rhapsody, this is how rhapsodies work: "A rhapsody in music
is a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in
structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, colour, and
tonality. An air of spontaneous inspiration and a sense of improvisation
make it freer in form than a set of variations." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhapsody_(music) and yes, it is a masterpiece. it cannot be compared to most music in any way shape or form, there are very few pieces of music that are on it's level.
Queen - White Queen - Hammersmith Odeon Live 1975. You won’t regret it.
Pure brilliance! I remember well the day Freddie died. He was incredible, beyond words, his story is real,, So blessed to be hear them in high school

See. We told you. And you believed us. And we didn't steer you wrong. Cuz we all cool like that.
Epic reaction to an epic song. So glad you did this one.
Holy moly your reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody was priceless.. I watched you over a few more times and I still laughed and cried the same.. I screaming at you.. "gooo.gooo. feel that song girl!.. Loved it, Liked it and subscribed..
The Beatles and Queen are my go to a happy place bands.
Because them both were so original
You are my spirit animal. The two bands with incredible musicianship, songwriting, and more variety than any other ten bands put together.
The Beatles can be a sad place band also. That is the depth of their talent.
I love it when young people listen to music from my generation and realize the beauty, and the hard rock, that our generation is famous for...
"WE CAME TO ROCK, BRO!! WOO!! LET'S GO!! LET'S ROCK & ROLL!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️
Yeah, Brian May (the guitarist) has really amazing heart felt solos, something he's known for, as well as being an Astrophysicist..
The rocket scientist launches into space with his guitar. Talk about mad skills.
2:28 "shout out to their engineer" that's called skill, not auto-tuning or sound engineering... they know how to trip up the sound with their harmonies. that's how good queen was
I'll just correct your spelling mistake for you. That's how "god" Queen was. ;-)
I think she was referring to having the music switching from one earphone to the other at a time at that point in the track I've listened to this track so many times and never noticed that.

March of the Black Queen is just as epic!
YESSSS!!! I love that entire second side (remember two-sided records? lol) of Queen II. Pretty much epic from beginning to end.
Early work is the best!!
Definitely March Of The Black Queen is epic as is The Fairy Feller’s Master Stroke from the same album.
Hold my beer - friggin hilarious.
This was such an epic new sound in the 70s, my music teacher taught Bohemian Rhapsody in class! Absolutely Amazing!!!!
Don't Stop Me Now should be next in my opinion. Followed by
1. Somebody to Love live in Montreal
2. Under Pressure live at Wembley
3. Death on two legs the original diss song. Freddy showing his anger in a very nasty way but fun to hear
4. Love of my life live at Wembley
5. An absolute must watch MUST WATCH is Live Aid

Their management and studio people all laughed at them when they were making this song.----It's the BEST pop/ rock song ever written !!!

Isn't it wonderful to see the sheer joy on her face while we listen to these great songs together?
Per roger; “from the brain of Fred.”
“Just one more Galileo, my dear,” Great reaction.
Now that is a Reaction! The song is undeniable and so are you Scribe!
Oh and the Soprano is the Drummer Roger Taylor.

At first I was disappointed that you didn't watch the official version with the video (which you need to do NOW, its the first ever music video done in 1975) but I think using the lyrics version helped you really hone in on the music.

Totally agree. Plus, this is how most of us first experienced the song (we didn't even have the lyrics - we had to figure them out).
This is not just a masterpiece! This is the best song ever written!!
Great react! I've listen to this song a hundred times, but now with this reaction it was like the very first time.
Same. So much fun.
One of my favorite reactions of all time. Love it and love your beautiful singing voice too.
As one that was a teen when this came out, I LOVED watching you hear it for the first time! it was like a baby having ice cream for the first time with a little touch of brain freeze, cute and hilarious! I had to share it! 🤣

A masterpiece of composition and engineering in the studio , before effects were invented ! Of course four musicians , all masters of their craft .
Freddie 'engineered' / produced every aspect of this song.

His mama did not kill anybody…he did.
He told his mama that HE “just killed a man”
THIS
"Mama, (I) just killed a man ..." has been the largest mistake people have made about this song. In this particular video, they needed that first comma.
He was killing himself and his ego. Think. It’s all about Freddie and what he’s going through.
Apparently the person who set up the slides with the lyrics was also confused they lest the comma out after "momma" on some slides, byr nor others.

Are you sure that wasn't just a triangle?
