My life long life of addiction prevented me from doing many things. I always had a dream of taking my father to a Nascar race, was never with in my reach. My dad was dying and I finally got my shit right and was able to take him to the race in Fontana , Ca. I will never forget that day. I bought him the best seats at the very top., He took him about 20 minutes to get up there and I was so scared. I didn't think he'd make it up. But he did, and I can say with a blessed heart when my father died, he was very proud of his son who changed his life. When he passed I was making a 100k a year. Far reach from being an addict homeless, with 4 Children. I Miss you dad. See you soon pal. R.I.P Thanks for making this song Eric. With tears in my eyes and joy in my heart, your song is, simply put, my life =-)
Last year I was camping at Talladega during race weekend, and on the first morning, my friend woke us all up playing this song full blast. It was so beautiful!
Man this is so deep. So much more than just a good time at a race track. Friends and family will come and go. But one thing that won't is the memories we have with them. When our time is almost up.. We can look back to the time spent with them and smile. Appreciate the time you have with one another because nothing stays the same forever. And when that checkered flag is waving.. Wish you could stay where you are.
My best friend and I have loved Nascar since we can remember. We’ve been best friends since kindergarten. We always play this song on our way to the Richmond Nascar race and during tailgating. We will be jamming in come end of July for the Summer race in Richmond. We will just start singing it randomly while playing Nascar on PlayStation. Two brothers only grow closer and due to this song we do.

Hell you know the cma are a fucking joke when you look at the past winners of entertainer of the year. Eric Church don't need that award for the fans to know he's better than those guys just listen to his music
I completely agree with you. However, the numbers don't lie and it's all about the money. Garth is still bringing in nearly 80 million a year. The extremely talented Eric Church hasn't hit 70 yet, i don't think?
Damn, this song never really hit me until my grandpa died two years ago. He was a big influence in my life. Then 2020 happened and it's just been a rough 2 years. Miss him every day. Only made it to 66 but I think he felt like he had completed all his life goals, was always willing to help someone no matter if they had any beef. Love you grandpa Ray.
Looked up to my grandpa as well. He passed away in April of this year, exactly 2 months before his 80th birthday. Biggest role model and the best friend I had on this earth

My grandpa, Hershel L. Jackson. Biggest nascar fan I knew. Former pro racer in a western midget series, won a lot of races in his day. Passed away May 3rd 2021 at 79 to cancer. The week prior the NASCAR series raced at Talladega, at this time he was still coherent enough to speak, said to my mom “if your gonna put me in a home, just make sure it’s after Talladega” that was never an option and he did pass at his home. He just wanted one more race and he got it. I miss you so much Grandpa and I hope your in the afterlife driving something FAST and racing against all the drivers that you looked up to.
Fun fact: Despite the song being named after and revolving around the Talladega Superspeedway, the music video is actually filmed at the Nashville Superspeedway.

same here…..years later, its like looking back at the best road trips of my life with friends and looking forward to the next one!! ahhhh the beauty of music and the greatness of EC!
This is by far my favorite Eric Church song, mainly because the title is the name of my favorite NASCAR track, and every time I hear it I instantly think about the NASCAR races I've been to.
Man...i gotta tell you and im not ashamed to admit this song almost brings me to tears,as i remember my youth and good friends.Good times past and reminiscing,I think it touches us all in a different way,but if you just close your eyes and listen to the song your good memories will come back and make you smile......kinda squishy i know, but its the truth.
Brings back lots of memories from when a bunch of us guys used to grt together every year and head down 65 to Talladega back in the 90's. What great times we had back then. Things were ALOT different at Dega then and the party was 24/7 non-stop from Thursday til Monday for us all. Good times !! RIP Dale Sr. !! Sterlin Marlin won the first WINSTON CUP RACE I went to there.
I was born December 4th and I had a great time growing up but I was with a Great bunch of friends and. That's what makes this song so great to me, thanks Eric you and the band. The William Rd.friends love you all.Tim D.1979
When I listen to and watch Eric play his songs, the music feels like home. Just watching and feeling im there it feels so good. Other artist songs or video do not give me this filling. He has a sound that in the sweet spot, and CMT needs to let this mans music out.
I can not agree more. I discovered his songs while I was studying for my exams. I was so worried and stressed but when I played his songs like this one and Springsteen, cold one and many more, I felt so calm. I am graduated now and I really believe I owe part of that to Mr Church. Music can be magical!
This video, is just a simple example of what America is all about. The video shows people just living life in simple form, and enjoying it. Sitting in the back yard with family and friends. Everyone "could" have a life like this if they wanted to. Its too bad there are so many hell bent on changing this. That the old America is not fair, and needs to be changed is heart breaking. Glad my life was like this video.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away....Memories are a cherished gift....Intense video, makes you think !
I like how he's not one of those mad celebrity and media crazy singers, he lives a real life, not the celebrity fantasy. So that's why his songs connect to people like no others.
Everytime this song comes on I think of my son and I watching our favorite nascar driver Ryan blaney. And Ryan blaney happens to be very good at talladega.
My uncle was like a father to me. He passed a few months ago and this song was the one played after the funeral session. I haven’t lived the greatest life and I’m pretty hardened when it comes to “sad” things but every time I hear this song I think of my uncle and I cry or come real close every time. I miss you uncle Brett. Have fun up there man I’ll see you soon.
this song makes me feel like I'm 14 years old again, hanging with my friends always building things and fixing stuff, though I didn't drink back then it's still a great song, I actually scene the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 back in like 99
robert hayden I've been to Indy four times, and totally agree; Three of them were shit races... But that place is something every motorsports fan should visit before they leave this Earth!
My grandparents lived close enough to hear the teams doing winter testing at Talladega. There both gone now and this song reminds of them and so many memories , It tears me up hearing it.
Being British, I never get the chance to watch Nascar. We used to joke about it, "guys just turning left" and all that crap. But wow, this was a bonding moment for so many families. Horsepower, hotdogs, and tailgating.
I love Eric Church. He brings his songs to life. His music is so good for the soul! My husband was in the hospital he had never been sick in his life other than colds and the normal things. The Drs finally found that he had an abscess in his intestines. Anyway they were moving him to another hospital to have emergency surgery that evening. I jumped in his truck to run home and grab some close , call a few people , then meet him at the other hospital. I was crying and all upset...they said if he didn't have the surgery he would die. When I started his truck he had Eric Church in the cd player. It did my heart good and just a soothing feeling came over me and I knew my husband was going to be ok.

Hi my Grandpa died on December 4th that's why you love this song he's up in heaven
Rip.
Hey dear fan, I'm so sorry about your loss please accept my condolences...😢
My grandma passed this morning. This songs made me remember all the good times
This is by far my favorite Eric Church song, mainly because the title is the name of my favorite NASCAR track, and every time I hear it I instantly think about the NASCAR races I've been to.
I hope that when we are at the last lap of our time here, we can look back on good memories and friendships
Before the punks threw beers @ 24 ruined a good thing. They have that affect.
I was born December 4th and I had a great time growing up but I was with a Great bunch of friends and. That's what makes this song so great to me, thanks Eric you and the band.
The William Rd.friends love you all.Tim D.1979
Dear God, this song beautifully breaks my heart. Will forever be a favorite.

Kord Douglas
hes up there with good music...
This Song Makes Me Wanna Buy A House, Settle Down, Fall In Love, Have Kids And Enjoy Life In Talladega.
Been deployed for too long. I hope to make it back to see another race ❤️ love you America! Plus you ain’t country if you don’t love dale and Bobby
Listening today when I seen the nascar race is at talladega this weekend
The song is called tallidaga yet the video was filmed at nashville superspeedway
your Mom is called Talledega because she has One loose rim...back passgenger💢🖤💯...she likes to thank me when she swallows my motor oil
When I listen to and watch Eric play his songs, the music feels like home. Just watching and feeling im there it feels so good. Other artist songs or video do not give me this filling. He has a sound that in the sweet spot, and CMT needs to let this mans music out.
Sick pussy
I can not agree more. I discovered his songs while I was studying for my exams. I was so worried and stressed but when I played his songs like this one and Springsteen, cold one and many more, I felt so calm. I am graduated now and I really believe I owe part of that to Mr Church. Music can be magical!
why say such a thing and show your must be a kid? looking for attention. She likes Eric, so do I
Hey man if this song aint nostalgic than i dont know what is...
Just when I thought it was dead.... He breathed life back into country music
This man is a remarkable artist... I've never heard a song sung by him that I didn't love ❤ Keep em' coming Eric... ❤ ❤ ❤
I play this song every morning nascar is racing at talladega
This video, is just a simple example of what America is all about. The video shows people just living life in simple form, and enjoying it. Sitting in the back yard with family and friends. Everyone "could" have a life like this if they wanted to. Its too bad there are so many hell bent on changing this. That the old America is not fair, and needs to be changed is heart breaking. Glad my life was like this video.
Amen
Every April and October I play this song when NASCAR goes to Talladega
My dad and me would always sing this song when he took me on calls with him before he died when I was 7 everytime i hear this song I remember it all
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away....Memories are a cherished gift....Intense video, makes you think !
Talladega this weekend! Fun Fun!!!
Talladega race is postponed due to rain until June 22,2020.
I like how he's not one of those mad celebrity and media crazy singers, he lives a real life, not the celebrity fantasy. So that's why his songs connect to people like no others.
Gettin my Country on today, reminds me of my Brother, who went to the other side last year, miss you so much Bro..........................
Saw him summer of 22 in San Diego, has to be my favorite song
He rocked it !!
Everytime this song comes on I think of my son and I watching our favorite nascar driver Ryan blaney. And Ryan blaney happens to be very good at talladega.
Everything from the message in the song to the music itself makes this a damn good song. Keep it up Eric.
Go Jimmie!
+Grizzlygaming88 go dale
my Grandpa like the to see u guys to race
im a black man and i grew up listening to rnb rap rock but as i get older (49) now i find myself listening to everything but rap i love this song
bruh copied comment
My uncle was like a father to me. He passed a few months ago and this song was the one played after the funeral session. I haven’t lived the greatest life and I’m pretty hardened when it comes to “sad” things but every time I hear this song I think of my uncle and I cry or come real close every time. I miss you uncle Brett. Have fun up there man I’ll see you soon.
Eric Church, keeping real country alive
this song makes me feel like I'm 14 years old again, hanging with my friends always building things and fixing stuff, though I didn't drink back then it's still a great song, I actually scene the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 back in like 99
Scene?
Brickyard 400 sucks unfortunately. Indy 500 is amazing though
robert hayden I've been to Indy four times, and totally agree; Three of them were shit races... But that place is something every motorsports fan should visit before they leave this Earth!
Good song, until I went. Now it’s a great song.
A true music artist. Amazing music with great stories attached. Can't wait to see the Chief in concert in April
Agreeee !
Everytime I hear this I see #3 doing the thing he lived for. RIP Dale driving around in heaven.
My grandparents lived close enough to hear the teams doing winter testing at Talladega. There both gone now and this song reminds of them and so many memories , It tears me up hearing it.
Wow this song is so Perflect
Skyler Dixon Perfect*
Agreeeee !

The line about October Winds get me every time. I was a diehard NASCAR and Dale Jr fan as a 8 year old in 2014, and I got to go to the 2014 fall and 2015 fall Cup races. This song means a lot to me. Thank you, Mr. Church.
every time they go to Dega I listen to this song

I’ve never been really into country music, not that I dislike it, I just never got into it much. But Talladega is a song I’ve always loved.
This song will make you cry
Astro Sam I didn’t cry at all
❤❤
Back in the years 2001 and 1993, it would've.
(Please get the references.)
Love this song reminded me of my grandfather
I grew up in Talladega, at the Presbyterian Home for Children in the 80's. i graduated from Talladega High School in 1987. Listening to this song makes me homesick. Remembering all the good times I had and the friends i had there. I miss it so much.
Thank you for the love and support you’ve showered on me. I hope you never stop listening to me Linda?
Awww, the old dude and his memories!

Much respect for Eric Church!! I live in Caldwell County NC!

This song hits me like nothing else, it's beyond righteous!!!
One of the best songs ever written.....Eric ❤
Always takes me back to time spent with my Dad at races. Racing is a shared time with Dad I will never forget.
It hits different as you’re driving down Speedway Boulevard on race day at Talladega Superspeedway.

FOR SURE
Rip what a shock too young. My twin was Mathew James /Daniel braden 44 on the 29th . Sept . Only lived for half an hour when I was 16.
Sorry about that ❤️
I will die with this memory ❤️🤘😎👍🏼🎵
Still hits so hard every time I hear it
Every single time 🥹
My brother died in August 2021 of COVID,. He was only 42, but he was waiting on a kidney and couldn't fight the infection. Anyway, I left my hometown outside of Richmond VA after high school, and when I got back in 2016 after 20 years gone, I got lots of time to hang with lil bro again, and we spent weekends tailgating at the raceway,. I went to my first race with him. I loved this song then, but the video and lyrics really hit different now that he's gone. RIP REX. Love you, miss you so much lil bro. ❤️
Sorry my dear fan, please accept my condolences 🌹
Try watching this and not crying.
❤❤
I know how you feel about it
