"Here we have the essence of Christmas combat, my friends. These are not just cookies; they're Santa's favorites, the gingerbread, the sugar cookies with icing. This is a snowball-launching, sleigh-riding machine, equipped with candy cane missiles and a secondary peppermint explosion. It's capable of bringing festive cheer to even the Grinchiest of hearts. If it were any more brilliant, it would compose a holiday saga, a saga that would make 'The Night Before Christmas' seem like a simple jingle. It would recite it with the majesty of a Christmas Eve snowfall. This is my North Pole command center. This is my Handel's 'Messiah'. My Christmas Star. It's as sophisticated as a silent night, as awe-inspiring as a choir of angels, and ready to deliver a payload of joy to every corner of the world. I call it the X-Mas.” - how Justin Hammer saved Christmas
I think what I love the most about this episode (an episode I definitely love btw) is the fact that they imply that the "What If" of this universe was that Justin Hammer just had a bit more free time, like give him even more time and he could actually win.
I was hoping Josh Keaton would play Spider-Man. But I loved that besides the Die Hard references, each Avenger also had a reference to another Christmas movie: Nutcracker, Bad Santa, and Jingle All The Way.
It could be, I suppose. The Watcher didn't do his usual ominous "Rod Serling" set up, rather he set this up as one of his favorite Christmas stories. Keeps it ambiguous.
@@singularrookhart7501it's not ambiguous. he says that in this universe hammer got a little too much time (whatever that means) so this is not the main timeline
Season 2 is on a tear right now, they’re really playing into the genres in each retrospective episode, im rocking wit it (I also immediately thought of you when Mr. Hammer tried to steal Christmas)
i found that weird too at first, but i think him setting them as targets didn't mean they were gonna kill them, just that they were gonna aim their weapons at them to hold them hostage
We also saw Hawkeye! For like six seconds! And they got Jeremy Renner to record like one line! And then in episode eight there was an arrow and then Hawkeye wasn't in the episode which I'm not upset about at all!..
...this was not my favorite episode so far. I did however enjoy it. As soon as i saw Hammer, i thought, "oh this is Nando's EPISODE!" Much respect and season's greetings from Nashville Tennessee
Nice to hear this season is good. If only they actually bothered to advertise it. Seriously, I don’t know if it’s just me, but I literally didn’t see any promotion for this season before it started; I only learned it was out because of random clips popping up in my recommended.
We might also see Cobie Smulders reprise her role as Maria Hill in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur season 2. She appeared in season 1's penultimate episode
So the episode actually mixed two Freak characters. The first was Happy, but a second one showed up in like the 70s to fight Iron Man and he was a big purple guy
@@intergalactic92 and I appreciate your respectful reply. We aren’t all going to like the same things, so it’s nice that someone who doesn’t enjoy a thing I like is glad that I enjoy it rather than telling me I’m objectively wrong. I feel it says a lot about how decent you are as a person and the community that Nando has built. Thank you, and I hope that you’ve enjoyed the other episodes 😊
I kinda feel the exact opposite as you. I like this season a lot, but none of the episodes so far have been better than season 1 imo. Episode 2 got really close for me but hey randomly decided to make the Winter Soldier's conditioning able to be overcome in an afternoon. Dont get me wrong, i liked this episode but like. How is "copy the plot of die hard but with Happy Hogan" a more fleshed out idea than Ultron taking over the world and wiping out all life in the universe?
I am sad about what ifs universes not ever including any new characters like obscure xmen, f4 or inhumans. It feels weird, because it is meant to be about the MCU‘s multiverse which we do know has multiple xmen universes… They could easily build up x-men coming to the mcu in what if
Not too weird tbh. Funny thing about infinity: a subset of infinity is still infinity. So there’s an infinite number of universes without F4, X-Men, or Inhumans and that’s what we’ve seen glimpses of so far
Season 1 lacked emotional weight, season 2 remembered that the characters have relationships and the timeline changes made sense in a way that was dynamic
The episode was kinda enjoyable but like a lot of episodes in this show it felt like it didn’t make sense with the premise, what characters are involved and when it is meant to take place adjacent to the main mcu timeline. The Watcher says the What If? is “Hammer had more time”, which sounds silly like why not just say “what if he decided to break out of prison”. Sounds like they just wanted their annual multiverse saga Christmas thing and were like “how do we make it Die Hard themed?”. It’s obviously post-Avengers but before AoU cos the Iron Legion is involved but that must make it after IM3. Hill is still SHIELD (but director somehow, where’s Fury? even Darcy referenced him) so must be before Winter Soldier. Darcy is working for Happy for some reason like where is Jane? surely it’s post Dark World if Thor cos bifrost to Midgard straight away
i agree but funnily enough leaving it so ambiguous makes this episode better off compared to the rest, every other episode points to a specific change which means anything that's different from before that is an issue (and there's a lot, the writers of this show do not do a good job with continuity)
Season 1 of What If had really beautiful art and animation but the lighting and shaders they used were so distracting to me personally. But, I also know general audiences are not rewinding scenes to specifically watch the lighting and shading on character models
I thought episode 1 was sort of shit. None of the plot made sense and it was full of very bad quips. Oh, Nebula knew Nova Prime was bad when she said "at any cost"? Well then why the fuck did Nebula go and just do all kinds of lawbreaking? Why the rush to stop Nova Prime if the thing was set to just kill Ronan anyway? Second one was loads better. I did not really care for episode 3. But now that I'm reminded of it, I'm going to go watch the rest.
I realllly dislike What If and I couldn’t figure out why until I watched this video! They talk way too fast and the voice clips feel like they are layered right on top of each other. It’s because they have to squeeze in all this crappy quippy dialogue into these “thirty” minute episodes. It feels like I’m watching it at 1.5 times speed. If someone edits this show and spaced out the dialogue, maybe it’d be watchable for me. But for now it feels like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel or Gilmore Girls.
I dont see how anyone can say The Marvels (the best MCU film of the year) is amongst the best they've ever made. Nor that GotG3 (the weakest of the year) is amongst the worst. Indeed I would say all 3 were much of a muchness mid tier MCU decent films 🤷♂️
@jlev1028 because it is 🤷♂️ The villain has a better defined and clearer power set. It has less of the awkward jokes that dont land and more humour that does land. It has better action. Better end credits scenes too. I mean it isnt miles and miles better but it is better.
The 1st was a great noir.
The 2nd was something that could easily be spunoff into its own series
But the 3rd… the 3rd had Justin Hammer dancing.
Is he appropriating Hammer Time?
This episode was a Christmas bonus from K.E.V.I.N. for all of Nando's hard work and you cannot convince me otherwise.
I love how his name is just an acronym now
whats it stand for?@@thesausageman5388
@@thesausageman5388it’s a reference to She Hulk
if anything i think this proves that nando really does work for kevin fiege and that this episode was his christmas gift to him

Justin Hammer stans stay winning!
Stay? It took 3000 years...
As soon as I saw Justin Hammer dancing I knew Nando would be in his element!
This whole season has been awesome so far, even better than season 1 (and I WAS a big fan of season 1)
It is way better. It's better than Marvel whole of phase four
The second I saw this episode I knew nando would love it
I think what I love the most about this episode (an episode I definitely love btw) is the fact that they imply that the "What If" of this universe was that Justin Hammer just had a bit more free time, like give him even more time and he could actually win.
I like that the Justin Hammer dance is now synonymous with Nando in my MCU head canon
When I saw this episode I was like “Nando’s gonna be so excited to see Hammer”
I was hoping Josh Keaton would play Spider-Man. But I loved that besides the Die Hard references, each Avenger also had a reference to another Christmas movie: Nutcracker, Bad Santa, and Jingle All The Way.
Happy Hogan was The Freak multiple times over the years. I got it immediately, it’s a silly thing but it’s really fun to see in an MCU branch.
You were the first person I thought of as soon as I saw Justin Hammer.
I have no idea why this was a what if episode. There's nothing here that goes against cannon so this could just be a cannon mcu animated special
It could be, I suppose. The Watcher didn't do his usual ominous "Rod Serling" set up, rather he set this up as one of his favorite Christmas stories.

it's weird that hammer is out of jail so quickly, after what he did he should be stuck in prison longer

As soon as I saw Sam Rockwell in the opening credits I thought "Nando's gonna be in love with this"

Avengers: The Hammer Dynasty
Justin Hammer felt like a combo of Hans and the employee that tries to make a deal with him that says "Hans, bubie."

I immediately thought of this channel when Hammer popped up
Die Hard meets Marvel was amazing and I loved it. I’ve really loved Season 2 so far.
Idk if I missed something, but I was constantly asking myself if anyone was gonna address Justin ordering the bots to kill all of the staff
Considering he didn't kill Hill for seemingly no reason, he probably just ordered the bots to capture them.
i suppose some men just aren't the same after time on the inside
i found that weird too at first, but i think him setting them as targets didn't mean they were gonna kill them, just that they were gonna aim their weapons at them to hold them hostage
Before you said Happy Hogan turned into a hulked out monster in the 70s, I was 100% convinced the idea came from the Hulk Hogan pun.
Hammerheads stay on top 🗣️🗣️
I didn't know there was a new season...gonna watch and return.
Weren't Rockwell and Rickman also in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?
Did not even know What If dropped until this video
